2201  Other / Meta / Re: Do we need to be more sensible about certain issues here before it goes far? on: November 19, 2018, 07:58:39 PM
Signature spam has been an issue for as long as you and I have been here and it most certainly predates 2015, but it's obviously grown over the years exponentially, but just because people got away with their behaviour in the past doesn't mean we should give them a free pass. If you check the recent history of those banned their 'original' content are usually just one/two liners of generic crap. When someone gets caught for this just check their history. Pure rubbish. I'm not going to pat them on the back from going from copy and pasting to spam and I'd argue that very poor quality posters should be banned anyway. They're really not interested in contributing here; they just want to get paid as fast and lazily as possible and they're the reason why the board is in such a poor state content-wise.

Copy and pasting is usually done for only two reasons: laziness and greed. People want to farm accounts and get paid in the process and they're too lazy or greedy to do either the 'proper' way. Making distinctions between what "sort" of copy and paster you are is needless and will just cause more fuss. What do you think would be the new excuse when caught? I'm not a scammer copy and paster, I'm a spreading knowledge™ [copyright Tai Lopez] copy and paster and I'm not doing it for money. If you plagiarise content then in probably 99% of the cases you're doing it to either farm an account and/or get paid with the minimum amount of effort in the process and I don't think we need to start putting them into different categories of severity.

2202  Other / Meta / Re: No African local board on: November 19, 2018, 07:55:26 PM
OK but so many countries in Europe and Asia has there board for example Italy, china, Germany but no African countries not even one is one the list. So I was just speculating if it hard to make one individual African  country on the list they can be grouped to regions

I would like a Nigerian board I can volunteer my time if needed. We have a general language called "pidgin enlish" it's quite understood by every one in Nigeria and in so many part of west africa

Those countries all have their own specific language. Nigeria is a mostly English speaking country as far as I'm aware. Again, local boards aren't really for specific regions but actual languages. If you want to create one for your Pidgin language then you can do so here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=11.0 but I don't think it would be very popular.
2203  Other / Meta / Re: No African local board on: November 19, 2018, 07:20:23 PM
Local boards are for non-English speaking languages and Africa is a continent with many different languages. We don't need a board for Africa like we don't need one for Europe or Asia. If you want to create one for a specific African language then you can do so in 'other languages' and if it's sufficiently popular then maybe you'll get your own sub eventually.

How do we know you didn't just sell the account and are now just trying to claim it back? Regardless, the chances of you having it restored are slim to none so you're likely going to be wasting your time even trying to get it back. The best you can hope for is the automatic recovery tool theymos is working on.

Copy and pasting:

Bitcoin for me is an online currency that gives an opportunity for everybody  to change their way of living by learning how to invest and earn from it. It is said to be the future currency.

Bitcoin for me is an online currency that gives an opportunity for everubody regardless of their social status to increase their way of living by learning how to invest and earn from it. It also made payment and remittance transactions more convenient. It is said to be the future currency.

Your "friend" who just so happens to type the same way you do?

Hello. My friend`s account was banned about 4 days ago, reason is not given. I`m writing instead of him, because he cant create new account (evil IP as it was said on the forum, btw i cant register new account too).
Profile link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1134115
Thank you for attention

I believe it will. I have seen recently some ICO projects that plan to create a blockchain bank. Also i`ve heard that common banks try to work with blockchain.

I'm going to guess you were banned for copy and pasting.

Edit:

Here's how this will probably go:

You: But I didn't copy and paste.
Us: You did:

I believe that the best tactics when market prices are down, of course, if you have a lot of capital, use this situation by buying altkones that have good potential for the future. Also, stay calm and do not panic.

The best tactic when market prices are down, of course, if you have a large capital exploit this situation by buying altcoins that have good potential for the future. besides, keep calm do not panic with the present price drop, if we really believe in all the altcoin we have, you can hold it for a long time and wait for the price to rise again.

You: *generic excuse*

people who say that it's harmless to join every airdrop even if they are sure it's totally a scam , think again !
now it's the easiest way to collect free and valuable data is to make fake airdrop , stop looking blindly for free money . there are even more greedy airdrops that require KYC and people still fall for this and then complain about fraud !!

zeze18's are also formatted in a similar way, but not sure If I'd say they're 100% the same.

Is it wrong if we have the same thoughts in this forum? I think we all have faced this kind of problem. Please give me a chance to be more careful. It's not plagiarism.

Another excuse for the bingo card: "parallel thinking".

You didn't have the same thoughts. You straight up copied someone else's post and changed a few things, which isn't ok.

Of course there are differences between bitcoin and real money. BitCoin was seen as the new digital gold coin by most people, having the potential to be open to the commercial as bitcoin real money in the future. Bitcoin is used more as an investment tool today.
They are both currency but the big difference is that Bitcoin is a virtual or digital currency while the real money is a real currency or fiat money. We are can't use Bitcoin without internet due to the system will need of internet connection in every transaction but the real money you can buy anywhere and anytime when you need.

They are both currency in common but it only happens that bitcoins is increasing its value periodically while fiat is not unless you place it on the time deposit inside the bank. That's also the reason why bitcoins is better than fiat.
Yes, they are both currency but the big difference is that Bitcoin is a virtual currency while the real money is a real currency. You cannot use bitcoin without internet since it system will need of internet connection in every transaction but the real money can buy anywhere in the corner.

Are you the same guy who was caught yesterday claiming this?
2209  Other / Meta / Re: BANNED ACCOUNT?? on: November 18, 2018, 01:12:16 PM
Wonder which excuse we will hear this time? It was only once? Didn't mean to? It won't happen again? Zhelis is my alt? It wasn't me? It was my brother/sister/friend/dog? My account was hacked for that one post only? Rules are unfair? Mods are unfair?

Somebody should make a bingo card with all the excuses. Saw a funny one the other day about the excuses paedophiles come up with when caught:

Just saw this user posting in the Cloudbet's Super 6 Soccer Predictor Competition:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=18021     JusticeForYou June 04, 2011

He stood out because he's a VIP and I've never seen him before, and then noticed his details had been reset recently:

This user's password was reset recently.

This user recently woke up from a long period of inactivity.

This isn't the first time he's woken from a long period of inactivity either. He disappeared on May 26, 2015 to reappear on August 13, 2017.

On the 15th he then asked for a silly loan:

Well lets get straight to business.

I want to borrow Bitcoin.

Full Disclosure: I have no intention of paying them back, so I'll skip the sad story and great business plan.

I just figured every other method was used to get people to loan coins, why not just an honest one.

If you're interested deposit coins here vvv

Thank You for your time.

Best Regards,

Then nothing until November 07, 2018 where he posted in the Cloudbet giveaway thread.
2213  Other / Meta / Re: Do we need to be more sensible about certain issues here before it goes far? on: November 18, 2018, 12:20:50 PM
I've got a revolutionary approach: How about people just stop copy and pasting content? Problem solved. Nothing for people to "grass" on then and nobody will get banned and that's what we're trying to stamp out. I'm not sure why you're shaming those who reporting rule breakings whilst seemingly thinking it's ok for the people who are doing it to earn money via fraud and laziness. Without the users reporting things the forum would be in a much worse state and a lot of people will be getting away with essentially theft, which isn't ok. It's absolutely shameful that people will sign up to this forum just to plagiarise somebody else's content and those caught should face very strict consequences so people know it's absolutely not acceptable under any circumstances. This should be a forum to share ideas and discuss bitcoin/crypto, not one where people are rewarded for laziness and greed and that's the only reason these people are even here in the first place, and that shouldn't be tolerated.

If you treat posting as a job, a chore, then you must live in fear, since the forum is not made for you. In this case, you need to blend in as someone who actually cares, but plagiarism will immediately out you, and producing a mountain of useless posts will also eventually be noticed, if more slowly. If you do actually care, then this will be obvious in your posts (and probably your merit score), and you will have nothing to fear from moderators; even allegations of plagiarism will be doubted when seen in the context of your other posts.

Can we add this to the welcome message? Whilst we're on that subject, implementing a welcome message with it stating that plagiarism isn't ok will cut down on a lot of the copy and pasting in the first place and it's because people aren't aware of the rules that we will continue to have these issues. At least if they're warned then there's no excuses at least.
2214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cloudbet's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 10, 2018, 05:17:32 PM
Been crazy busy at work this week, I'll get my predictions in this evening (and get back to reporting shitposters Grin).

UnfortunatelyI will be catching up on tons of life admin this weekend due to work being so busy so won't be able to watch any of the games. Most of the matches will be pretty one sided though by the looks of things, so I probably won't miss much. I doubt the Manchester derby will be that exciting either. Fully expect United to get wrecked despite their very lucky win against Juventus earlier this week.

Probably not many worth watching this week other than the Manchester derby. There's the German "El Clasico" on later (or should I say der Klassiker haha) with Borussia Dortmund V Bayern München which I'll probably be watching. Dortmund are on fire at the moment so should be an interesting game.

Still a load of guys in our pool not put their predictions in yet. Hurry up boys, Saturday will be here very soon. I’ve done all mine for this weekend & locked them so feel free to spy on what I’ve put Cheesy

Still waiting to hear if I’ll have 2 tickets for Liverpool vs Fulham on Sunday. I wasn’t able to get tickets for this game myself in the summer so got a quote off a ticket tout I met from online years ago who sorts me out when I haven’t got tickets from the official club route. Not happy with the price he gave me yesterday so waiting to see if he can do any better.

If not I’ll just watch on BT Sport, fuck it.

I'm terrible at it. Not the predicting, but the actual putting in it thing....haha. I was away for 3 weeks, and I remembered to do it a few times, but other things just got in the way, and I ended up forgetting about it. Without a doubt I don't have a chance now, but I'll do keep doing it for my own entertainment.

I mean I was just giving you guys a chance. You can look out now! Cheesy

Just put as many scores in as you can when you've got a chance. You could put the entire season in now if you wanted which is one thing I like about the Superbru website so there's no excuses for missing rounds. You can always change them at a later date as well as long as you don't lock them so you might as well put something in rather than letting it go to waste. I see there's six people who didn't play this week and you can still win your money back for getting a yellow cap so there's still something to play for. There's another international break now though  Angry.

Damn Cardiff 90 minute late goal ,removed me a correct score result. I have lost many positions during the last two weeks and this one doesn't look good for me either, as they say , the sun can be seen since early morning  Grin

That late goal screwed eight of us out of a correct score.
2215  Other / Meta / Re: My thoughts on why threads that are spam-flooded should be deleted on sight on: November 10, 2018, 05:00:04 PM
I honestly think we should go as far as making the merit requirement of Jr member from 1 to 5, or 3 at least, just to potentially eliminate a significant amount of spammers. The good ones should rank up from Jr member to member pretty quick anyway. 1 merit is too easily obtainable as I think some of the newbies actually buy those merits from some sources.

I'm all for making the merit requirements higher (to either become a Junior Member or get a sig - which I think should be ten merit), but this doesn't really solve the spam issue op is talking about. As long as there's benefits to having the thread bumped then it will continue to happen. As I suggested before, you could make it so posts from lower-ranked members don't bump the thread at all which should take care of the bot bumping. Also as I've suggested before, we could change the Alt Coin section up a bit and scrap the current format and make it so that to list your thread here you need to pay a fee and when you do you get your very own sub board. That should remove the need/point of bumping as it would be pointless.
2216  Other / Meta / Re: Encouraging users to lock threads on: November 10, 2018, 10:56:38 AM
I feel like we've been over this issue several times before. Asking users to lock their threads is like asking them not to spam or make unsubstantial posts. They either don't listen or are too lazy, and lets not forget why those threads are there for in the first place (or it's why they're kept alive). Most of the people here are spammers so they love having generic threads to spam in and the more the better. Most who create them probably aren't even interested in the answer or replies. They create their generic thread, then move on to the next and the one-liners follow them. Theymos probably won't put any restrictions on how many threads people can create because he's against restrictions to being able to actually post here and I'm not sure how this would work anyway. Some threads shouldn't be locked just because they've reached x amount of pages. A better solution would be just to add more moderators to the board who lock the spam threads as soon as they see them or once they've run their course.

Great if somewhat undeserved win for Man Utd but what is wrong with Mourinho? The guy has no class what so ever. They’re having a crap season domestically & he still has the balls to do that shit. Most Man Utd fans hate him.

Not taking anything away from the win, I think they only need to beat Young Boys (lol) to qualify now but that guy is a jerk.

He's understandably under a lot of pressure in the media with people calling for his head and questioning his performance constantly but he didn't do himself any favours here. They got lucky within a few minutes and their prior performance wasn't really something to be smug about, but maybe the buzz of turning the game around in five minutes probably got to him and he got caught up in the excitement. He still should have known better. Being a gloating dick after a victory is just as bad as being a sore loser to be honest and he could have handled this a lot better.
I don't think it's strange if Mourinho does that, Mourinho has made bad behavior several times as a coach and he should be able to be a better example as a coach with the title he has "the special one", but with his bad behavior I personally didn't like him for a long time.

Apparently the Juve fans were insulting him all match so maybe that's was why he did what he did. He can speak many languages including Italian. Makes sense if you think about it. Pretty much a visual representation of you're not singing any more. He's said he wouldn't do it again though haha so probably learned his lesson.

I just checked the rankings and didn't know I was doing well here, I was more focused on EPL but I think I should put more focus here since I have had good consistent results here compared to there.

I'm also doing better in the Champions League. Have been in first place in both tournaments but I seem to be slipping down the table every week.

Any way hopefully Mou can repeat that victory this weekend. You’ll all know why I don’t want United to win very often but they’re playing City this weekend. I will 100% be wanting Man Utd to take at least a point at The Etihad.

Go Mou (**pukes**)

I think City will beat them comfortably. Maybe even by 3 or 4. Man U may get a goal though.

2219  Other / Meta / Re: Can there be other ways to earn merit? on: November 08, 2018, 05:06:01 PM
If you achieve 1000 activity without getting a single merit then there's probably a good reason why they haven't got any and shouldn't be automatically given some. Merit was designed to stop people moving up ranks solely just down to activity and without contributing anything worthwhile or of substance and if we just give away merit for x amount of activity then it kind of defeats the purpose of it in the first place. Besides, I'm sure most users would have given up long before they ever get any where near 1000 merits, and for those that don't ever get any they can just purchase a Copper Membership (and maybe they'll even be more ranks in the future - Silver and Gold etc).
2220  Other / Meta / Re: How to deal with spammers advertising their own websites on: November 08, 2018, 01:54:21 PM
Isn't this just plagiarism?

Not unless he's plagiarising other's articles for his own site.

I checked one of his articles, and it was posted just seconds after the original.

He probably is using a bot to post them automatically.

On Bitcointalk, he adds a link to his own website, and on his own website he adds a link tot he original source. He's just using other site's content to get people to his own site.
The link he posts on Bitcointalk doesn't qualify as a source, as it's not linking directly to the original source. I'd say it's plagiarism.

Wait... fo you mean it was posted on a different website and he copied it from there or it's seconds before he posts it on his own site and then here? If he's just stealing other's content and reposting it to his for hits/traffic then that makes this much worse.
