2221  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Want legit 7970 testing/benchmarking and tuning for cgminer and Diablominer? on: December 30, 2011, 10:01:27 PM
Even if he doesn't create a miracle driver, he could add a few handy lines of code that make it into the eventual best miner created by another author.  And the total cost of the hardware isn't too much for the community as a whole.

2225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Welcome to the new Bitcoin forum! on: December 30, 2011, 06:11:55 AM

No, that's the mailing list. There was a SourceForge forum.

I never saw the SF forum, but my impression is that there were very few posts there. (I'd love to see it, though.)
There's no Google Cache of it?  I think I tried looking as well, it might be lost to history.  This thread, welcoming users to the forum, is piece of history as well!

I wonder how many BTC's they stole total that day?

Good job wcoenen!!  That's a huge step in the right direction!

I wish there was a button I could click now to help, I guess we wait and email other organizations.

2229  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Could bitcoins be made illegal? on: December 30, 2011, 05:18:21 AM
This is what I love about bitcoin.  It's just a balance.  There no confusion, just a number, and it's never negative.  There's a bit of market manipulation because some people have huge stashes of them, but so does cash.  The FDR is probably wishing that they thought of bitcoin.
2230  Economy / Marketplace / Re: WANTED - Bitcoin Sellers! Many Open Orders Needed to Be Filled on: December 30, 2011, 05:03:08 AM
$4.50, IMHO, is still a good deal to buy bitcoin.  $10 is still a good time to buy.  This is the calm before the bitstorm.

Edit: and join Crypto people!!  Come buy my namecoins!

p2k - the one and only. Badass coder in several programming languages and for several platforms. Wannabe demosceener. Always moving with the bleeding edge in software engineering, never stopping, never giving up.

Now about to conquer Bitcoin with my skills. Already contributed quite some work to the Bitcoin Qt GUI last month (OS X support and deployment). After hitting 5 posts, I will announce my new pool software for which I've spent about 300 hours of work.
Welcome a'board P2K, you sound like you're coming late to the party, but 300 hours deep in a project?  That sounds like something to be excited about!
2233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC miner optimizations for PowerPC (Power Mac) and Cell/BE (PlayStation 3) on: December 30, 2011, 04:50:37 AM
Intel Core i7 860 computer, which is able to do at least 25 khash/s.
Ahh see this is where I failed, and I'm glad I came to realize it before I wasted too much more time.  I had tried getting the miner to work outside of the litecoinpool browser miner and after a few failed attempts, I gave up.  I guess it was just a bit of wasted electricity mining with the browser.  I'm just going to buy LTC's, let you guys mine them.
Still I would prefer to keep discussion focused on mining using PowerPC and PlaySatation3 hardware in this topic Wink
Agreed, sorry about the lite-threadbomb.  Definitely going to be keeping an eye on this one, I'm excited to see high numbers with the Cell processor.  There's a lot of PS3 clusters out there, and although it might not be profitable to run them today, in the future you might be able to pick them up for cheap and put them to work.

2236  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Accusations against shakaru on: December 30, 2011, 03:23:02 AM
Exactly why bitcoin > Paypal.  Paypal is such a hassle!

The crap thing of the situation is just that astana would have done the same thing to ANYONE he happened to be dealing with.  It just so happened to be shakaru that had something he wanted so he figured he could do some chargebacks and end up with free cards somehow, or free shipping, on an already fantastic deal.

But it's a fun addiction!
2238  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GUI mining - updated Aug 24 with new miner versions on: December 30, 2011, 12:42:42 AM
I'm still using GUIminer, would I get better hashes if I abandoned it, too?
2239  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin what is the trend now? on: December 30, 2011, 12:37:36 AM
When the price hits $40 people who throw down $100 today can turn it into $1000.  Invest every penny you have and it will turn your life around.
2240  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto X Change API docs incomplete and they took a long time to reply to emails on: December 30, 2011, 12:34:43 AM
From my experience  Crypto X Change replys to emails fast and the service is top-notch.
