I would say that the most promising initiative to make XMR stand out from the masses of shitcoins, is Crypto Kingdom. We are just now transitioning to a browser-playable game, which is also a social media platform and an interactive wallet-cum-app store.

If you can see what it is becoming in just a few months or 1-2 years at maximum, you would do well to buy a stake of the project. It is now appraised to $275,000 in our internal CKG market. Compared to any game company that has a product in the final testing, that is cheap.

Buy CKG (shares of Crypto Kingdom) as long as they are cheap before the release of the V.4: Reconstruction. It is easy, just contact saddambitcoin with your XMR ready.
2222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: July 30, 2015, 06:22:09 PM
Gold dividends have been paid. Now a much more profound thing is happening in relation to gold (CKG):

The King is taking a perpetual obligation to arrange an ingame market for CKG/moneretos, no matter how high or low the CKG price goes. This means that smallholders having less than 1,000 CKG (most players fall in this category, after all it's $300) can always sell their gold at the current market price and medium holders with 1-10k CKG can sell at one click although with some slippage in price. Conversely, buys of maximum 10,000 CKG can always, 24/7, regardless of anything, be executed. If one buy is not enough, the system adjusts the price and you can buy another time, and yet another.

The commission in the King's Coinshop has previously been 6.5% (buy 106.5%*midprice, sell 93.5%*midprice). Now we are slashing the commission to 1.99%-2.44%, depending on the amount (it is a technical reason, not the intention, that the commission varies slightly). With the much reduced commission, and the notoriously volatile CKG/XMR rate, it is now possible to actively speculate on the CKG price!

And Wow, there is something to speculate on!! We made a tentative agreement in the Town Council (will be published after the final texts are agreed upon) that all XMR (moneretos) balances in the game carry the highest payback priority, in the event of the game closing. So if the game is terminated, the moneretos are paid back in full, because they are guaranteed in full from the funds used to buy them. Conversely the CKG, which in the event of the game continuing carries many advantages - weekly dividends, appreciating price, voting rights, liquidity - most likely becomes worthless if the game is terminated.

The CKG/moneretos market in the end is meant to gauge the trust in the game - how are the promise of the 100% payback of the XMR, relative to the rights, privileges and cash flows that the CKG brings, priced against each other.

To practically administer the new more aggressive offering, a new corporate character, King's Coinshop (#122) is created and 200,000 CKG has been transferred to it. The pricing formula is such that every time gold is bought from the King's Coinshop, its price rises as a result (and vice versa). When all the 200,000 CKG have been bought, the price of 1 CKG will have risen to 70 XMR and 3.0 million XMR will have been used to acquire all the 200,000 CKG. The price will never go to zero - the Coinshop is responsible of buying up all the CKG existing if need be, at ever decreasing prices though. You will find the new calculator in CharDB/trade_gold as before.

Let the speculation begin!  Grin

We decided to pay a 1,000 m/CKG dividend to all the gold holders.

Woohoo! Rich and poor, in happiness are alike. Another Dom Perignon 1589 for me! (490 XMR).
2224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: July 29, 2015, 07:44:06 PM
The meeting was really good and we achieved mutual understanding in important matters. It was decided that no details are published just yet because we are in the process of creating a new Constitution for the game. The current version of the Rulebook is from October 2014, and it was deemed necessary to update it and clarify all rules, rights and responsibilities regarding governance to one place.

Once the document is ready, it will naturally be published with great fanfare Wink

We decided to pay a 1,000 m/CKG dividend to all the gold holders.

The Town Council meeting is in 80 minutes as announced by Sir Riccardo.

I will be sending a memo to all councillors prior to that, in about 30 minutes by PM. The memo contains the draft for the Rulebook v.4.0 or Financial Constitution.
2227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: July 28, 2015, 11:21:33 AM
You can always try to approximate the valuation via economic proxies, such as:

"For each $1 in valuation, XMR needs 5,000 active users."

Thus, $10 if we manage 50k users by Time_X.

$1,000,000 if we manage 5 billion users.

I would like to see all shitcoins die

If you mean that no one is developing or using them, they are already dead. (The definition of a shitcoin..)

If you mean that their exchange price drops to zero and they are delisted, it happens much slower, because if you control nearly 100% of the supply, you can set the price, and pay the exchanges. With very moderate means you can keep it floating forever if you believe there is still chance for a new pump, and there likely always is.

Thus, crypto scene will for the time being be a land of zombies.

Getting the large and somewhat rusty wheel to move again is an interesting challenge, but that is exactly what is underway  Smiley

Today is scheduled to be the meeting for clarifying the development contract of V.4, which is the greatest financial uncertainty at the moment. I am looking forward to the meeting!

Also I had talks with sXpher concerning some details. The playable, "time=on" testing is promised to begin this week with the councillors doing the testing. We will first get the testing documents from the team with the goals of the round, and the procedure for reporting issues. Then the testing and the fixing of the issues will happen simultaneously.
2230  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Totalitarianism on: July 27, 2015, 09:43:59 AM
We need gold, perhaps other things, as a Store of Value.

Gold is hedge against government malfeasance but isn't a hedge against mad max failure of the government. In that scenario, gold becomes worthless and only food and ammo (and other supplies) are money. This has been backtested throughout all history by Armstrong.

If the government doesn't correct itself within about 2 - 3 years of the start of the crisis and it the crisis envelopes all possible safe havens globally (or the government blocks your escape), then gold is worthless to you.

Gold is a very, very risky store-of-value with very minimal utility.

That already minimal utility is declining drastically now that the technology has arrived to eliminate cash and control every nook and cranny of the globe with drones.

The Bible says they will throw their gold and silver into the streets. And that is precisely what is coming.

Gold is needed to preserve your value over the time of crisis, precisely what OROBTC said. It will not be of much use during the crisis. Some items mentioned by you might come in handy.

Saying that gold is "very very risky" is very very stupid if no explanation is given. Furthermore, you should really think about my thesis of portfolio allocation based on the least intercorrelation of the total loss risk of its components. In this context gold is very nice risk profile.

Many things that happen in the world are scripted for the media and public discourse. They are arranged solely to probe whether the members of the public continue to be as clueless as they have been programmed to be and are wished to continue to be.

I have a Monero fund already established, and undergoing the initial capital building process (acquiring Moneros). Once we get enough to begin with (the company already has a capital in 6 figures), we can start accepting investors.

What advantage would an investor in your fund enjoy over buying and holding xmr himself?

Anyone reading this should buy himself. But there are people and corporations out there that may find the fund format easier to handle, accept, or get accepted in the decision making organs.

6 figures of XMR or some fiat currency? That would make the company one of the largest XMR holders already I believe! How large do you think the fund has a potential to grow?

XMR is so small that yes, it's very likely the fund is already in TOP-10 XMR holdings and will increase the rank as the conversion progresses, and especially if we get any significan new investors.

XMR has fixed supply so of course at some point we will hit the wall where the percentage of total grows only slowly, even though the fiat amounts grow fast. It is a nice situation to be in if the fund is already one of the largest holders  Wink

...such as lying. Again you are free to disregard morality in your action...

It is not clear from the wording if you might be thinking I might have lied about something.

If anyone has such a concern, please bring it to my attention in public or in private.

I don't think I've lied.

I can think of some discussions about technologies, developments, and plans that did not complete for lack of response from one side or the other. Perhaps that could be misconstrued to be a lie?

I just said that intentionally dealing with fiat money in order to gain financially, is in my opinion as evil as intentionally lying in order to gain financially.

TPTB_n_w it was not directed towards you.

But everyone - think about it: if you participate in fiat money, you are part of the problem. If no one participated, the banksters would lose their power. It's good to acknowledge it and not participate so eagerly (eg. borrow, go short, other speculation).

You know already my opinion or concern is that war is coming to the Baltic states and the real estate there might be abandoned. Maybe not. If it is only a decline in value and you can wait it out and use the asset, then I can see your point. But why risk it? I told you before you bought that castle, that war would come and don't do it.

It's only because you try to minimize the chance that you don't lose anything. I try to minimize the chance that I don't lose everything at once (enabling risky investments as long as they are moderately intercorrelated).

I think we both are happy with the fruits of our respective decisions.

I aim to always have the choice to either live in my castle, or move to a hut in the Philippines (barring arrests and other stuff, which can as easily be done on you). Only if my owning a castle puts me at a serious jeopardy in the way of closing the opportunity to move to a hut, then I would need to choose. Now I have both, and live in the castle. Even if they take the castle away, that does not (alone) rob me of the possibility to move to a hut.

Quote
Having an ideological bent against fiat is orthogonal to the timing of when to exit fiat. None of us are going to destroy the fiat system by exiting it early. Investors shouldn't allow their ideology to impact their rationality. A good trader and speculator looks only at the facts.

Fiat is an abomination, and I don't do them, especially if the only motive for doing them is hope to get rich. There are others, such as lying. Again you are free to disregard morality in your action, as much as I uphold mine in my action.

I think the two points above summarize that we have genuine differences in thinking. Let's go back to work! Smiley

Unless pretty much all humans experience a drastic change in their constitution and way of thinking, luxury goods (of limited supply such as Champagne of a certain brand and a certain year) will always be coveted, valuable, priced, and therefore not free. Same goes for capital goods including land. The Rothschild-led corporatism is a very unequal system but my impression is that the Rothschild-led Soviet communism was an even worse one if environmental damage and sustainable land usage is considered. I would instead go for small farming (one farm producing food for 10-20 families), which was the norm in Old Testament Israel, the 1800s United States, Third Reich, postwar Finland, and still is in many developing countries, Japan, Switzerland, etc.
2237  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Totalitarianism on: July 24, 2015, 08:52:57 AM
Anti-money folks have not given an explanation on how to efficiently produce anything absent the price mechanism.

Eg. pencil production consists of 80 phases, from assembling the machines used to mine graphite and fell trees (and the property rights to conduct such activities), to machine the pencils, pack, ship and distribute them for delivery to end customers. The decisions that people make to allocate the resources and intermediate goods, and the finished goods, and the information on supply and demand, are done on monetary terms.

Many supposedly bright minds have said that money (unit of account for financial calculations) can be done away with, but if they don't solve this issue, their world would not have pencils nor anything more complicated than that, because the production and distribution chain would be totally invalidated, and a tribal economy with organic food would result.

Even as we near zero marginal costs things will need to be able to compute energy and supply costs. Assuming we or AI do not discover unbounded renewable energies and materials or a new symbol to covet as as/more/somewhat important.

I am much more interested in practical ways how to make products in digital and real world, which would be free for the end user to utilize, with no monetary payment necessary to use them.

Many things in the Internet are such already. You can use Internet freely (in libraries, etc) and most of the content is free. Even elaborate content such as Facebook, Google etc that cost a lot to maintain, do not charge the masses for the service.

The economic calculation problem, is what Mises said would cause the Soviet Union economy to collapse in a few years (it did, industrial production was at -98% compared to Tsarian times), but prices were reinstated in about 1922-1925, following the example of foreign countries in market economy.

It is likely that clever business models will make an increasing percentage of goods available to the consumers without payment, especially as energy becomes cheaper and even free in the future. To get there, we need to allow the businesses to continue using calculation. Banning money as a unit of account is akin to banning numbers as a tool of mathematics. Surely both economy and mathematics could be done without, but the benefits of such an unnatural move would certainly not outweigh the drawbacks.

If a person has any wealth, he by definition is net long in something - the "something" that he owns.

I don't see that - especially in these times when asset prices are by and large determined by the powers' controlling and manipulation - a person should be short in any asset. The benefits from possibly guessing correctly the powers' intentions do not outweigh the drawbacks of being naked (having a short position with no corresponding long position or exposure) in anything.

You can sleep much better by weaning yourself out of fiat, if not in completeness, at least in thinking. If one day you wake up having a nice bunch of XMR, some BTC, a castle, and a wad of cash, and the news tell that they are all "worth" zero - why care? You still have them, and can continue your life as usual.

Price manipulation is total, and instead of getting distracted by it, you do better to hedge a bit here and there and disregard the manipulation by ignoring the short term (less than a decade) movements.
