1261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom Game Design on: January 05, 2016, 01:51:19 PM
Countryside Opens

A long-awaited expansion, Countryside is moving towards production. There are earlier expositions of long-term plans, so this concerns itself of the immediate and near-term new features only.

Map features

The Kingdom map will be hex-based and one hex defined to be 0.200 sq.km (of which 0.135 sq.km are the 450x300 m Urban area if the hex is an urban Borough). Since our land is big, it is possible it will consist of millions of rural hexes. The visualization of the map is not going to happen yet.

Peerage and fiefdom

The whole backbone of countryside is that of feudalism, the hierarchical domain over lands:

Kingdom - Duchy - County - Estate.

The whole of rural land will be organized so that each hex eventually is part of one County. Duchies are administrative entities over Counties. Estates are productive entities in Counties, but a County is not necessarily completely divided to Estates. Urban lands' standing depends on local legislation and ownership of Urban land is guaranteed. Kingdom remains the concept of the totality of all lands, yet it is possible that independent Counties will emerge in the outskirts, or based on negotiation or civil war or similar event (in the future).

Peerage means the fiefdom over land. Peerage may be held by Earls and higher, but is created separately of promotions. Only the King may "create" peerages that are for life. Upon death, the peerage is re-created to the heir of the holder, or to a different character, or reverts to the Crown in which case it may be recreated later. As a norm, the actively played peerages are hereditary but the King decides. The successive holders of the peerage may title themselves as "Sir Joukahainen, the 2nd Earl of Käkisalmi" etc.

There are currently 26 peerages in Crypto Kingdom, of which one is the Kingdom itself. Of the others, all 25 are Counties, but 5 are also Duchies. We will not do anything practical with the Duchies just yet. The oldest and most senior peerage is "TVA Duchy" created in 1366 (or probably earlier but this is not verifiable). This is the County in which TMA CryptoTown is located.

How to gain a peerage

Peerage may be gained immediately upon promotion to Earl, but in some cases characters are promoted Earl and need to wait some time to gain peerage. Each holder of peerage may also appoint one Viscount, to practically manage the affairs of the County. While being a Viscount does not directly confer levels or peerage to the appointee, Viscounts without peerage of their own are highly considered to get one in the future.

To get the things rolling, Earls of the past with no peerage are not going to get one in the near future. Instead, we start with the 25 that we already have.

The complete list of peerages is in googleDB /Peerages tab.

Purposes and Vision of the Countryside Module

It is designed long ago that the ratio of peers (landed nobles) to all the population should be about 1:50. It is easiest to think that peers will in the future be reigning over their domain in the same way as the King has done until now, with the number of PC ranging from 2 to 100+.

Each County will have its capital city "Seat", consisting of 1 or more urban boroughs. In addition, the Estates are production centers providing food and raw materials. The seat will be the administrative and cultural centre, habitation of the PC's and place of commerce and manufacturing.

New players will need to select their tribe (County) when they come to the game, and they may switch it later. This will keep the Earls constantly competing for new and existing players. The new player registration page will be modularized so that it can be plugged in to the Earls' other marketing pages where they can funnel players to their County and start to provide for them.

The economy of Counties (pools etc.) will be independent, but with common rules on resource production and consumption. Earls have a say in what kind of economic models to employ in their domains.

Economy of Counties

The county is a corporation account. Its holder may conduct all business as he sees fit. The county is not owned by the holder, though, and therefore it may not be split into shares and sold. It is also not allowed to squander the County resources for personal benefit. It IS allowed to grant the rural and urban land of the County to the holder or anyone else, with or without payment. (To raise the funds for the initialisation, it IS possible to pre-sell the land but the arrangements are at own risk.) It IS allowed to pay a pension to the Earl and the Viscount, in form of money or a resource stream, if the County is making profit. It IS possible to indebt the County if someone (usually you) wants to lend them money, and this must be recorded as a notarized admin-created DEBT instrument (the King hates debt though). These guidelines are intentionally left vague to test the character of the holders and further guidance is given by the King when requested.

In addition to the "County incorporated", each county also will have (a bit later) a pool account. This one is not yet in the Earl's control. Labor payments to the county eg. building, will be deposited to the Pool account and will later provide the dividends in the county. This will be separated later to allow large enough scale. Town pool accounts hold m only, but county pool accounts will diversify a little into CKG, CON and DEP if sufficient liquidity is guaranteed.

Getting Started

We have 5 strains of NPC in the game, and two of them will be allocated to the Countryside completely (for now):

Managerial (ASS-1,2,3; MGR-1,2,3,4,5)
Military (PTE ... COL)

These NPC will have their monetary dividends revoked (SCI will continue). Moving/selling them to the Counties, increases the County preparation capability. These are indispensable, if no managerial talent and show of force is present, the Counties will not submit to your rule.

Specialists (AR-1,2,3; SPE-1,2,3,4,5) may be moved to the Counties and will boost their CUL/SCI production and in addition give other benefits.

Butlers and Chefs (WAI; BUT-2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9; KA; COOK-1,2,3; CHEF-1,2,3,4,5) do not provide special benefit in the Counties and may be best to keep in CryptoTown.

Other Workers (OTH) will become the mainstay of NPC toiling for your county. These and some of the others will become available as new items to be purchased from the market. (OTH will cease to provide money, just work.)

NPC continue to have a 5% risk of death per year. They also promote as previously.

Battle Aquilae (COA-1...COA-27), especially the ones of historical troops, are much revered by the peasants, so attaching one or several to the Army stationed in the County, boosts the pacifying capability a lot.

Counties do not require consumables, rather produce them. The new production of CAN, MUS, VEG, MEAT and FOIE will be phased to be produced almost solely in counties.

Stone will start to be produced in Counties themselves. Because it takes time to get the peasants back into doing it, in the beginning, a maximum of 1,000,000 stone per county per year can be sent to them. It will be consumed in admin schedule and boost the statistics of the county.

Prepaid building labor (S-BLD) is a smart thing to be gained by counties, since it will steadily increase in value, and will be available for conversion to buildings when the module opens.

A "state carriage" (TRC2-x, TRC4-x, TRC6-x) is good to have in County level as well, since it is awed by the peasants.

Most of the other items are not needed yet. We will soon expand the creation of items from IC, so it will be possible to convert and backdate important regalia of the inauguration of the county.

All Science (SCI) gained by the County, will be consumed by admin and converted to preparation.

What is Preparation and what happens then?

Preparation (PRE) is a non-transferable point item that only Counties may have. Upon Admin discretion (planned yearly), the admin checks the progress of the preparations of the County and awards a maximum of 20*PRE. When 100*PRE is gained, the County Seat is inaugurated (1 urban borough). Even before this happens, counties that are pacified and well in preparation, may produce foodstuffs.

As is the custom in B-22 shares, a large amount of new preparation points is more expensive to get than a small amount. Being the 2nd town after CryptoTown in the Kingdom, on the other hand, is a worthy goal...

(Since TVA Duchy already has a seat, it gains preparation but may not have a second town.)

HM The King is so happy that the Kingdom finally is enlarged that he is offering the following Bounties for PRE accumulation:

* In the Quasquibicentennial Jubilee (1625) *
- 500 CKG to the county with highest preparation
- 250 CKG to 2nd highest
- 100 CKG to 3rd highest
- 50 CKG to 4th-6th highest, each

* All Counties that reach 25*PRE in 1630 or earlier *
- 100 CKG at once

* All counties that reach 100*PRE in 1630 or earlier *
- 100 CKG at once.

The gold will be given in historical and/or collectible coins, and we hope it will be augmented to the Treasury of the County, to provide a lasting income stream for the fiefholder. We reserve the right to give more gold as we see fit.

Closing

The Counties should be created shortly. The passwords can be asked from the admins. Please do not change the password as the admins need to be able to access the counties as well. Note that it is possible to conduct the business of the County for now even without logging in, just GIVE all the items that you want and they will automatically yield their benefits.

Corrections and amendments will be in blue.

Physical location and size of the Counties

This will be based on how actively the Counties are developed and how many residents they get. The historical seniority and prominence of the county do not affect much. Duchies also are "grown" of counties, and we of course hope that they get to be developed to be big ones to fit the designation of duchy proper, and to be qualified to "rule over" the surrounding counties.

Guidelines for human resourcing

Managers produce 1-5 "MGN points" according to their level. One MGN point is needed per 5 workers (OTH).
Assistants produce 1-3 "ASS points" according to their level. One ASS point is needed per each manager, and per 5 workers.
Having excess managerial talent is beneficial if properly assisted.
SPE are always and everywhere just good, and do not need MGN/ASS allowance.

Army is divisible to Field officers (COL, LTC, MAJ), Junior officers (CAPT, LT), Non-commissioned officers (MSG, SGT, CPL) and soldiers (PTE). In a functioning Company, each must be present. A standard Company is now defined as follows:
* Commanding Officer (Field Officer)
* Staff (2-4 Field or Junior Officers)
* 2-3 Sections, each with at least 1 seasoned NCO (more is better), and ~10 troops (count includes the NCOs)
* Battle Aquila

The exact size is of course based on need, finances and the availability of personnel. The larger the force, the more important is to have a good commanding officer. In the Ancient times, a COL has been sold for ~400 million. NCO are soldiers with experience, so might become a bottleneck, since they are promoted only slowly. Having a MSG leading a section if possible, is very valuable. NCO cannot be substituted by junior officers.

The horses will be available in the countryside soon. Also Army has their own weapons so no swords etc are needed.

I don't know what we are debating Smiley At the time of mine and David's donation, we only threw in 50 XMR each (and not sure if more later, or who else has donated). It has transmutated itself to be perhaps 4-5k XMR worth of land and items.

If you want to find out the value of the 1450 Satoshi whitepaper, go ahead and sell it! Smiley I am not selling my 1400 copy of "1984" because I could have converted 106*TS140 silver coins instead, with ask/bid 20/3 XMR apiece.

The 'pa' donation was easily worth 10k XMR iirc but these valuation things are such that the real value is not realized before the thing is sold, and to be more precise, after the money is spent. Then you know the worth  Wink
1263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -> Monero Community Hall of Fame <- on: January 05, 2016, 09:58:52 AM
For the 'pa' contribution 10 000 XMR was a rough estimate that I think is reasonable. The donation consisted of an entire high level character with many assets. That included about 10 000 CKG but also a lot of other stuff including rare and silver items and some premium land.

Among the rare items are the original Satoshi and Cryptonote white papers Smiley

Well not all Monero House assets are from 'pa'. The building, which still stands in the Old Town Square, was originally built from donations of me and David Latapie to take advantage of promotion free land (according to the latest completed trades in the area, the land itself is now worth 3,000 XMR as it is directly facing the Royal Palace and shares a wall with smooth's house).

The whitepapers are converted from Monero House AIC credits, therefore an offspring of the original donation. Monero House also rumoredly owns 2 bottles of DOM, the most expensive drink in game, the bid for a bottle is 8 XMR (ok AYA is bid 17 XMR but it's a wisdom substance). These are the result of the 'pa' donation.
1264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 05, 2016, 09:27:30 AM
I really want to play a crypto-economy based game, but you will need to add some user friendliness if you hope to attract 10000 players. Smiley

Please take your (valid, IMO) feedback to the Crypto Kingdom thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=819073.0

Hopefully there it can reach the people most involved with the game and in the best position to address the concerns you raised.

Yeah. Please start from reading the thread, at least skim it through. It'll only take 2 hours and will make you much better versed in CK history and current play! The game is not shallow, and while we are in the process of adding ingame helps and Wiki, the game thread still is the most definitive resource Smiley

BUT, since I am the gamemaster (having access to your stats) and the King (willing to give liberally of my own), your WISH has been granted.

You have been gifted the following items:
- 100*VEG vegetables are good for food
- 100*BEER obviously for drink
- 100*CAN this brings wisdom

And some luxuries:
- 2*FOIE delicious and potent food
- 2*W1600M at least 21 years old healthy and precious wine

Since it's no fun to play without money, I decided to give 3 years (21 realdays') salary worth of money - 2,100,000 m. It is not that much in the outside world, only about $1, but in the game it buys you a lot of stuff, collectibles or consumables.

And a "lucky coin" 1*CS1621E after your starting year. It is not rare but the silver content is valued at about 800,000 m.

The Town has entry-level housing and is giving for free to those who need it (I managed one for you, Needle Lane 29 in 4-C-R3). The stone unit is 16 sqm and has a rooftop terrace as well. To be qualified, you need to be in level L3 Beginner, so this was arranged as well. This house might fetch 6-8 mil in the open market once the free distribution ends.

What you should do in the game right away is to familiarize yourself with health challenge (in the thread). Then you need a suit, for which there is a section in the Agora. Also log in to the game IRC channel in freenode (##crypto-kingdom) because most gameplaying happens there, only the commands are executed in Ultima platform. Getting to know the commands is of course the key to do anything.

Well, after 14 months of playing you may end up in the situation of our current Mayor, HH TMA Blessed Heroic Duke of North Face, TA Viscount of Forte Spagnolo, 2nd/I Bt of CK, Mayor, Councillor, CEO of TMA Grand Hotel & FluffyPony Horse Corp, AOK-S, RT-K, AOD-LTC, OD-K, KH, GJB, FBB, TB, KFB, HB: he is managing the Town, his vast household, fiefs, and corporations and the account is worth 50,000 XMR at liquidation value only.

He is glad to help, "SirJacket" in the IRC if you end up in there. I'd be happy to see you as well Smiley

(Read a bit above for Baronets.)

The first stage of Baronet nomination is over as 10 individuals have claimed their first Baronetcy. The fun need not end there, though, since now everyone is entitled to buy their 2nd one as well. Multiple Baronetcies look cool, make advancing in ranks and responsibilities quicker, cost only 100 mil and even that is 55% earmarked to devfund, and can be sold for profit in the aftermarket! Smiley

Earls+ are allowed to all remaining BT-x
Nobles+ may buy BT-23 and higher number
Everyone may buy BT-40 and higher.

Before it is too late. If it is not too late already.

Unless Crypto Kingdom goes bust, XMR cannot go bust.

Instead of going bust, CK has a target of 10,000 players by the end of 2016.
1268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Monero Economy Workgroup - The MEW Thread on: January 04, 2016, 06:35:26 PM
Half of the funds were given to the Core team for starters. The name MEW "Monero Economy Workgroup" hints at the whole thing was intended to promote economic initiatives as well.

What is clear to me is that the dormancy of Monero Economy (compared to the buoyancy of the development) is a continued issue and the greatest bottleneck for adoption. To this end, I and David had the infamous Wine, Cognac, Foie Gras and Caviar workshop in Malla in late 2014, which spawned Crypto Kingdom. The game still commemorates these most precious consumables with 1 liter of fine cognac costing 3 XMR and 1 kilo of caviar costing 3 XMR.

I am personally satisfied with spending all my time to CK, as I perceive it to be a very potent asset for Monero economy. After more than a year, we still have ~170 characters only (of which 11 died this day  Tongue ) and the marketcap is <$1 million. I have been CEO of 3 private companies valued at more than $1 million, and several below that threshold. With this experience, I perceive CK to be severely undervalued compared to the potential. Most similar all-voluntary experiments - take MEW for instance - effectively bite the dust in a few months. CK is going on very well. Our goal is to reach 10,000 userbase in 2016 with the ultimate goal in millions.

I do not support a wholesale donation of Economy funds to development. If the MEW members do not want to revive the Workgroup, I have a better idea of donating the funds to the Town of Crypto Kingdom, because that is the cutting edge of Monero Economy.
1269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Monero Economy Workgroup - The MEW Thread on: January 04, 2016, 05:28:33 PM
Has anyone been able to verify if the MEW funds are accounted for?

I don't think "anyone" is the correct address when the funds are held by David Latapie and he is not in hiding in any way, last active a few days ago, still in Monero Core team, and has a CryptoKingdom account worth more than the MEW funds.

Please send your detailed inquiry to him as a PM and surely he will reply in public. This is sounding too FUDdish currently, and for no reason.

FUDish?  How exactly?

I am asking because there have been some questions asked about the funds in this very thread dating back to a few months ago and David Latapie has not responded.

Ok whatever.. David's recent misfortunes in business are well discussed in the Monero forum and in CK alone, he has more than enough to make good of the funds. So what remains that you are eager to know?

You are correct in that the MEW should organize a little, and have successfully put the irritated feeling in me  Cheesy

(My take is that the MEW birthed CK, which is the platform for going forward. But I cannot make this decision alone of course.)

Deaths 1621; Health Challenge 1621

It is with utmost solemnity that we must announce the death of so many of our beloved townspeople, nobles and commoners alike:

Dame Leila, charid=13, age=221
Lord Dnaleor, charid=30, age=214
Lord Callixtus, charid=78, age=98
Lord Baron, Dr. HS-S, charid=93, age=79
Master kazuki49, charid=84, age=86
Ulfberht (L5), charid=97, age=78
Master Avitohol, charid=92, age=65
wojtek (L3), charid=126, age=51
Petrarch (L3), charid=115, age=44
bendubz (L3), charid=129, age=44
Monerito (L3), charid=114, age=36

May you rest in peace and never need to do the health challenge again! The King pays the funeral expenses of 2 mil on behalf of the commoners. The estates of the nobles will need to arrange their own.

The claimed character account functions for 30 realdays after death, for the purposes of giving the assets to the heirs or liquidating them. If there are any assets remaining after 30 days, the account will be swept and assets inherited by the Town for the purposes of marketing of the game. Unclaimed character accounts will be swept in 2016-1-17 regardless of whether the character has died or not. Town will decide what to do with the living characters in this case.

Last time the deaths were evaluated, almost 50 characters had not done their health challenges at all, which prompted a reset of health and deduction of the approximate cost from the account. This time, only 16 characters were in such condition. Next time, there are no such characters as this is the final time that anyone may escape death solely by ignoring the health challenge.

As the winter sun dawns over the Kingdom in 1621, the winds blow the Rossiyan cold from the east. We should not be troubled, though. The Health Challenge is (on average) no more difficult than usual, but we know that Vodka (items: VOH and VOD) enjoys elevated effectiveness to combat it.

How to compose your (Full) Title

It seems that this matter needs to be revisited often since it is not that common for any of us to need to do this in the outside world  Cheesy
Great privileges and punishments promised in the end of post.

1. Title can be made up of anything that describes the person, and is not restricted to the things below.

2. Title might include:

- Address honorific ("HE" or similar)
- Main attributes ("TMA" = The Most Ancient, "The Blessed" etc)
- Main title (often based on level)
- Name (Christian name or most senior domain name)
- Duchies
- Principalities, Marquessates and Counties (in this order)
- Viscounties
- Baronetcies
- (Functional or honorary) Titles
- Membership in Chivalric Orders
- Free text
- Honors
- Medals
- (Alternative free text)
- (Attributes)
- Badges

3. There is no single authoritative Title for a person. Good style dictates that the Title of high people is longer than that of low people, while omitting things that the lower people would include. The use of "etc" (up to 3 possible), indicates that the title is shortened while remaining Title (Shortname and Full name do not change, do not have etc's, and are typically unique - for instance "HM The King" is a Full name for the said person, and anything else is therefore his Title.)

4. Typical name-title cognates for different levels (the current number of characters in the level is in parentheses before):

(?) L1-L5 (no title, may use level title or job title, if fancy, it's good to indicate level after name eg. "L5")
(?) L6 Master/Mistress precedes name
(1) L7 Wizard (or custom title such as "Naturalist") precedes name
(1) L8 Dr. precedes name
(2) L9 custom title
(0) L10 Jungherr/-frau precedes name
(8 ) L11 Knight/Dame preceding name
(0) L12 Sir X, the xx/y Bt of CK
(16) L13 Lord X
(10) L14 Sir X, the Earl of Y
(6) L15 The Marquess of Y
(4) L16 HE The Prince of Y / HE Prince X of Y
(4) L17 HH The Duke of Y / HH of Y (omitting both name and level but both may also be used)
(2) L18-L20 custom title

5. Sir/Dame is a proper address for all nobility except Jungherrn. "Lord" is historically used by Barons to differentiate them from Knights. Barons have no county to identify with. Landed Earls typically revert back to Sir or use the county name. Normally only Marquess is high enough to be called definitively The Marquess of X (omitting Christian name). Especially Viscount is not a "The" title, since it is not a level. Baronet only if it coincides with level. It is considered classy to revert back to Christian name in very high levels eg. "HRH Archduke Zechariah, The Prince Royal" who used to be called "The Marquess of Tavastia".

6. Let's practice with Roopatra! one reasonably full composition of this character's Title is as follows:

HE TMA Princess Roopatra of Neverland, TA Viscountess of OZ, 9th/I Btss of CK, Councillor, CEO of RAQ & Unicorn Corp, AOK-C, MG-4, GJB, FBB, TB, KFB, HB

Explained as:
- The address honorific is rare as only 11 characters have it. It always comes first.
- It is possible to add a valid attribute before the name-title. Being ennobled in the Most Ancient era is a classy thing so let's add "TMA" to modify "Princess".
- "Princess Roopatra of Neverland" is a valid cognate of main title, Christian name and principality name. This could as well be expressed in other ways, such as:
* HE TMA Princess of Neverland
* HE TMA Princess Neverland
* HE The [Blessed] Dame Roopatra, TMA Princess of Neverland
- By being the Duke of OZ's financial advisor, it is proper to use the Viscountess of OZ (The fiefholder in the Duchy of OZ (HSH Sir Karl, TMA 1st Duke of OZ) appoints the character, only one of such may exist). Few counties even have a Viscount atm.
- 9th/I Baronetess of CK means that she is the 1st holder of the very prestigious 9th Baronetcy
- "Councillor" is a functional title. Ex-councillors use "Councillor Emeritus/-a"
- Being CEO in companies is definitely a thing worth mention
- AOK-C stands for "Commander in the Ancient Order of the King", the highest chivalric rank held by anyone except the King.
- MG-4 is a medal.
- The rest are badges.

7. Knowing your proper position in CK is very important and for this reason the matter is given so much Royal emphasis. The Quasquibicentennial Jubilee of Crypto Kingdom is approaching! Before that (1625), we would like all the Titles to be in order, furnished by the characters themselves in the MyCharacter /EDIT mode. We use both carrot and stick to achieve the objective:

Everyone who composes his Title will be given more: DOM, CLXII, W1600M and other most precious drinks. In addition, he will be privileged when more levels, fiefs, titles, knighthoods, honors, medals and badges are given. He may be given more Baronetcies once the initial sale is over. He will also join His Majesty's glory in the 225th Jubilee celebrations. And the perks are better the faster you do it! Smiley

Every noble who does not compose his Title in due time, will not be given more: He will be banned from promotions if the previous ones are not accounted for by his own hand in his Title. No one without a current title will inherit fiefs. (For Peerages of Crypto Kingdom, see googleDB/Peerages). Also he will not be invited to the 225th Jubilee. (Commoners in L1-L5 are exempt from the Title requirements and "Master" is enough for L6.)

Baronet items (BT-2 ... BT-100) are for sale!

The item type suddenly disappeared so there is no clickable path to them. But they can be acquired nevertheless, just replace the item_id in the URL with BT-x (eg. https://cryptokingdom.me/marketplace/item/bt-2 <-- which is still free!)

When I wake up, my clients can buy theirs. It is always good to be Baronet! Smiley

For now:
BT-2 .. BT-9   Prince+
BT-10 .. BT-19   Marquess+
BT-20 .. BT-29   Earl+
BT-30 .. BT-39   Baron+
BT-40 .. BT-49   Nobles
BT-50 .. BT-100   all

Commoner promotions 1621

Sir Mooo, the Earl of Stonehaven, is tasked by the Town to make the commoner promotions for the year 1621. (Town is entitled to promote all commoners, up to Master L6 and technically up to Grand Wizard L9). This is also the complete guide for him to make the promotions. Everyone has until Wednesday to perform, to get the promotions, or even several at a time (leap promotion)!

Let's look at the progress: Commoners may start play at 15 years of age, or older. Regardless of starting age, their health is Excellent or at most Good. The planned lifespan of a well-tended commoner is about 45 years, meaning 30 years of play. (If the starting age is more, there will still be almost as many years left, because the health challenge is a little more difficult, but the starting health is about the same.)

During this time, there are the following promotions left for a commoner:

L3 Beginner
L4 Novice
L5 Expert
L6 Master

So only 4 promotions in 30 weeks of play! Crypto Kingdom is truly a slow-paced game.

All commoners are aimed to reach the level L6 if played actively and not neglected. We take the typical promotion path with the assumption that the character starts at 15 yo, the youngest possible (these guidelines are valid now, and will change when more modules are implemented):

L3 Beginner - at once the character starts to play for real, acquiring items, doing health challenges, 1-2 years after start
L4 Novice - after the character has done a few health challenges and plays actively about 5 years after start, or makes deposit
L5 Expert - when the character has a house and clothes etc, about 10 years active play, earliest at age 20
L6 Master - when the character has been in Expert level for about 10 years, is clearly a mature and established guy, earliest at age 25

So the non-depositor actively played commoner will live his 30 years in the levels as follows:

15-25 L2, L3, L4
25-35 L5
35-45 L6.

Naturally, this has a lot of variance and multiple paths are possible. They can roughly be classified as follows:

- Ordinary commoner path: aims at Master L6 and if abandoned or maltreated or with bad luck, may not even reach it.

- Power player path (PPP): starts at a commoner but plays so actively/deposits so much that is picked for noble (usually Baron) promotion which may happen at any time after only a few years of play, or quite many, and usually from Master, but can even be Expert (since Master minimum age (25) is higher than that of Baron (21). From there, they continue to promote as nobles.

- Special path (SP): a commoner who missed the Baron train continues active play to advanced age. After about 15 years as Master he may be promoted  Wizard L7 for the prowess in the game. Academics may become Doctors L8 at early or advanced age (and advance further to nobles). The most distinguished commoners may become Grand Wizards L9. For special merit, commoners typically in Expert level, may be Knighted L11. Anyone buying a "virgin" Baronetcy will become Baronet L12. Everything is possible, but the important distinction happens usually in the age below 40 - nobles tend to be promoted in relatively young age (since they have many levels left to advance), if this does not happen then the commoner bonus levels are the destiny.

So how should Mooo in practice conduct the promotions

This link works for admins only and allows searching and viewing the MyCharacter pages of all. It also enables making the promotions and updating the Titles (remember to save changes).

Things to note:
- if a character is owner-controlled or town controlled (town controlled get promoted more sparingly)
- activity (in a different link with EXP points)
- age (older characters can go through levels more quickly)
- amount of gold and land (speeds promotion greatly through L2-L5)
- items (more items reveals active play, a good tell)
- ownership of house, suit, carriage, etc (if in doubt whether to leap promote etc.)

It is difficult and also boring to give exact rules how to promote. The ancient characters who are in town-assigned care only get promoted slowly and have already been evaluated for L7 and higher promotions. New characters who are being played should typically advance a level or even 2 if they are being played actively and previous promotion was long ago. The ones in PPP should be promoted rather quickly through the early levels. See the promotion paths of existing nobles for details.

Yes it is true. The game aims to replicate history to a certain extent, so also Baronet titles can be bought. This is now possible the first time in the game's 221-year (about 14 months this world time) history. It is even possible that the titles increase in value, since it is allowed to re-sell them and they are numbered. A previous similar example where transferable tokens were for sale happened in 1600 (April-2015) as 10 Round Table Gold Bars were auctioned at prices between 380-700 XMR. At least the Baronetcies are only 100 XMR and backed by the King (the RT Bars were and are backed by fluffypony)!

Promotions in/to Nobility Anno Domini 1621

We Dei Gratia King of CryptoKingdom etc3, proclaim the intention to promote a Grand Duke in the 225th Anniversary of Our Majesty's Reign, in 4 years from now. The Grand Duke will embody the greatest glory among all the Dukes.

We inform that despite it being 7 years from the last creation of a Duke (HH Saddam of Ramsey in 1614), we abstain from creation now, and save it for a further time with more need.

We are proud to elevate the rank of the longstanding townsperson and administrator Roopatra The Marchioness of Neverland:

HE Princess Roopatra of Neverland, Councillor,  AOK-C, MG-4, GJB, FBB, TB, KFB, HB has been in AOK since 1468, Councillor since early 1500s, one of the largest real estate magnates since long, and personal architect, counsel and business partner to HSH The Duke of OZ for decades also.

Sir Riddick, the Earl of Savannah is promoted Marquess. The Marquis of Carabas retains his previous earldom as well.

Lord Febo is created Earl. With char_id=12, Sir Febo is one of the most original players from behind the ages.

Lord Syksy is created Earl. The Syyskuu Family is strongly making its way to be one of prominence. At 48 years, the Earl of [tba] is one of the youngest landed nobles if not the youngest.

Naturalist Mooo is ennobled and created Earl of Stonehaven. The Earl Stonehaven, Councillor, AOK-K, TB, KFB is one of the pillars of the game. Notable is the rare leap-promotion to Earl completely skipping minor noble ranks (L7->L14).

Knight serje is promoted Baron. For 171 years serje has been serving as the Majordomo of the Royal Household as Knight. Now we have learned that he is about to retire to the peace of his own house and get married. To congratulate him and celebrate the occasion, we present 1*DOM, 2*CLXII and 12*W1600M. Lord Serje also gets a fixed pension payment of 100,000,000 m for his services over 3 centuries.

Knight othe is promoted Baron. Lord Othe, CORE-KC, is a member of Monero Core Team and Monero is rising!

Master Itrix is ennobled (Baron, L13). Lord Itrix is one of the longstanding townspeople. He was born on the year when the Throne Room was built!

Master Angus is ennobled (Baron, L13). Lord Angus is one of the upstanding nobles, getting his Baronhood at the age of 52, almost nothing!

* * *

Everyone promoted has been sent gifts of DOM, CLXII and/or W1600M. Especially since the promotions have gotten rare (there is not that much room in the upper ranks before many new players show up - or old guard dies), We exhort everyone who is promoted to celebrate the occasion with thread posting, gift-giving, etc. Minting of copper tokens will soon be enabled through API-based Royal Mint. The tokens are intended to be more of a celebration of round physical years (50, 75, 100). Silver is the noble metal and once Earldoms gain more practical importance, the anniversaries of peerage (years since first granted Earldom) will be celebrated with medals minted.

Unfortunately the character data could not be centrally updated yet. Please do it yourself as much as possible, some fields can be updated. We will update the Promotions of level asap.

CHARACTER LEVELS

Character level is an inherent and non-transferable property of a character. Only PC have a levels system, all corporations and other non-PC share the common level L0. A new player starts generally at level L1/L2 and may advance all the way to L20. Upon death, the character becomes Estate, which is a corporation, so the level also drops to L0. In HoF, the character retains the level he had at death. It is possible (but has never happened) that a character is demoted in level.

Town promotes Commoner levels up to L9 Grand Wizard. The promotion of Nobles is King's privilege only. King chooses his successor. The current Prince Royal is HRH The Archduke Zechariah of CK, played by the same as King. Below is a list of levels and their meanings.

Commoners - skill levels
L1 Visitor
L2 Stranger
L3 Beginner
L4 Novice
L5 Expert
L6 Master

Most new players start their game in L1-L2 range. The levels system is designed so as to offer a progression through skill/experience-based ranking from Beginner to Master in the normal lifetime of a commoner (age at start 15, life expectancy 45, so 30 weeks of play). Characters who do not receive external money (free players) should generally be able to reach L5 Expert or L6 Master before the character dies. The progress through these levels may be faster with active play.

Commoners - bonus levels
L7 Wizard
L8 Doctor
L9 Grand Wizard

Commoner bonus levels are for those commoners who play extraordinarily well. Since it takes long time active play to reach these levels, the characters are often old when this happens. L7 Wizard (actual title may be different) is a level for those excelling in artesan or related skills. L8 Doctor is for those excelling in knowledge and science. L9 Grand Wizard is for the actual magi, the demigods who enjoy independent gamemastery privileges in full harmony with the world.

Minor nobles
L10 Jungherr
L11 Knight
L12 Baronet
L13 Baron

L10 Jungherr is any noble who is not yet 21 years old. L11 Knight is a level for those who have been Knighted in some or the Orders, or for other reasons. In the past, officers were Knighted. King has promised to promote to Knight all who reach 250 years of age. L12 Baronet is true to its historical equivalent, a buyable level costing 100 XMR. L13 Baron is the level in the "normal career path" for commoners. Typically prominent merchants, landowners and gold owners are promoted to Baron directly from L6 Master, skipping all the levels in between since they are special levels for special occasions. All the other minor nobles also mature towards Baron.

Landed nobles
L14 Earl
L15 Marquess
L16 Prince

The landed nobles (LN) are the aristocracy of CK. As the name suggests, the LN hold fiefdom over the territories of CK (the Rural Land). This brings to them many responsibilities, especially after the Countryside module (in development). The qualification to be promoted Earl is being a long-term player and capable to take responsibility. L15 Marquess and L16 Prince are "only" honor-levels of Earls, with the most magnificent promoted after a long service. It is notable that Earldom is hereditary, so once you reach this level in one character, when it dies, you are entitled to retain the level. Lesser noble levels (or any other levels) are not hereditary. L16 holders have honorary address HE (His Excellency), which others may have in rare occasions only (YE, Your Excellency, when addressing directly). "Viscount" is a functional title, not a level, but can be regarded as being above Baron and below Earl. Even commoners may hold Viscounty if appointed by an Earl.

Dukes
17 Duke
18 Grand Duke

Dukes are promoted from levels L14-L16. The promotion is not based on absolute magnificence but on need for Kingdom administration. Therefore it is possible to become a Duke as a leap-promotion (skipping eg. Prince). L18 Grand Duke is the highest non-royal level, with the most senior of Dukes occupying it. Dukes are addressed HH (His Highness).

Royal
19 Archduke
20 King

L19 Archduke is reserved for the heir/s to the throne. It is a Royal level and addressed HRH (His Royal Highness). There may be several Archdukes whose order of succession is determined by edict. There may only be one L20 King (HM The King, His Majesty). When the King dies or abdicates, the first in succession becomes King and it is customary to seek Town affirmation for the act.

The practical importance of the levels is linear only inside a category, not across the whole system. The commoner bonus levels (L7-L9) overlap with the minor nobles (L10-L13), Princes (L16) are often wealthier than Dukes (L17), and Archdukes (L19) are only designated such based on the succession. The guiding principle in promoting commoners is skill. Barons are promoted based on wealth. Earls based on responsibility. Marquesses and Princes based on culture and gold. Dukes based on continuity of the game.
1278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 03, 2016, 02:48:07 PM
And unfortunately, monero is not a store of value, it is transactional. Unless you think a perpetual emission magically prevents dilution.

The perpetual emission is 0.9% or even lower. In my newest economic understanding it is actually too low for XMR to be universally recognized as a store of value. For something that is monetary in nature (a slip of paper, a ledger entry, or gold), to be an accepted store of value from generation to the next one, there needs to be dilution. Otherwise the new generation does not feel burdened to accept the store-of-value of the previous generation as exchange for labor. They will make a new one, causing the previous one to plummet in value.

Of course the inflation can also be too high (it is unlikely that a coin which doubles the emission every year by design, would gain value), or unfair (in fiat system, all new money is premined to banksters and others only get to use it in exchange for interest payment). But what poses the issue with Monero as regards wide adoption is too low future inflation, not too high.

Baronetcies become available

Perhaps not all have even noticed that we now have a 20-step level system. A new feature is L12 Baronet, a level between Knight and Baron. Commoners are promoted Knights based on special merit, and Barons based on solid and longstanding gameplay. But if you are a forward-looking power player why wait - you can become a Baronet instantly by purchasing the letter.

Please read the inspiration from Wikipedia:Baronet, for the system has similarities and differences.

Baronets are the backbone of society, the characters who have committed their funds to supporting the King and the Kingdom, and in return they get levels and status. The earlier creation date (smaller number) Baronet is regarded as more status than the later date (bigger number).

Baronetcy is a transferable title, represented by an item. It is similar to Knighthood in the Round Table, where ownership of the item determines the right to the title. (Unlike AOK for instance, which has the token item, but the title is independent of the token.)

When a character with a rank lower than L12 becomes the first holder of Baronetcy, he receives an audience from the King and is promoted L12. He may use the following title or equivalent:

Sir Mooo, 54th/I Baronet of CK, AOK-S, MG-5, etc.
Sir Mooo, 54/I Bt

When someone is already in a level higher than L12, the title is added as follows:

Lord Syksy, 22nd/I Baronet of CK, HBB, etc.
Lord Syksy, 22/I Bt

When someone gains the letter from aftermarket, it does not automatically confer L12 but can be used as a title (note that the current holder is indicated after "/"):

Master xulescu, 31st/II Baronet of CK, HBB, etc.
Master xulescu, 31/II Bt

Baronetcy and Viscounty are the two examples of noble or nobl-ish titles that can be transferred independently of the King. Baronet letters are created and sold by the King, who must acknowledge the holder. Each County has a quota of 1 Viscount, appointed by the Earl, and usually ranked just below Earl. Even if holding of these titles does not directly cause promotions towards and in nobility, it is a very good way to hasten the process.

Royals cannot hold baronetcies by tradition and must give away their baronetcies upon becoming royal. The First Baronet letter is allocated to Baron James Daniel upon his coming of age. Female form is Baronetess. King paid 1,000 IC to create the Baronet letters, handmade in parchment.

How to become a Baronet?

100 Baronetcies are created and they are under item_type: BT (last in category order). Each costs 100 mil to initially purchase, the aftermarket price is unregulated. The initial price of a Baronet letter may never be reduced below 100 mil. The number of Baronetcies may be increased.

During the first realweek, the following rules are in force:
- Baronetcies 2-9 are reserved for Princes and Dukes only, Baronetcies 10-19 for Marquesses and higher only, Baronetcies 20-29 for Earls and higher only, Baronetcies 30-39 for Barons and higher only, Baronetcies 40-49 for nobles only and 50-100 are for everyone. Thus a Duke can buy any available Baronetcy between 2-100, a commoner only in 50-100.
- It is possible to grab several Baronetcies (the more, the merrier in the title). However, it is only allowed to grab your 2nd one after at least 10 Baronetcies are bought by different people. Before buying your 3rd one, 25 Baronetcies need to have been sold. It is not possible to buy more than 3 per character the first week.
- After first week, all unclaimed small-numbered Baronetcies become free game for all!
- Everyone needs to pay the price 100 mil, but Baronetcies make great gifts as well Smiley

Baronetcies are historically King's private business, but in our case, 55% of the proceeds of the initial sale (1620-1621) of Baronet letters is donated to devfund!

Grin Be a King's Friend and become Baronet today!  Grin

(King will wait 18 hours until his wm clients can buy Baronetcies. Others and their clients may start right away!)

Changes in the Royal House based on the new definition of CUL

As per the newest developments in the Rulebook side, when a character dies, the following die with him:

- Level and titles (with the exception of Earldom - the quality of being (at least) an Earl - which is hereditary)
- Most memberships and knighthoods in Orders (unless specially decreed hereditary)
- Character's Culture (currently item: CUL)
- Character's Wisdom (currently not implemented)
- Other Character traits.

The assets (gold, urban land, items) stay intact. Commoners must pay a funeral tax of 2 mil, nobles need to take care of their own funerals.

Since CUL is now defined a character trait, but it is valuable like an asset (King received 200 mirrors worth at last that many mil due to his culture!), and cannot be traded, it is important to plan ahead where to generate culture. Upon death, King's Culture becomes his high score, but is not any more beneficial to the Royal House dividends (the others will get that much more instead!)

Therefore, and for other reasons also, the King will start divesting the Culture properties to other characters, starting with the donation of House of Magnificence (1532) in 2-C to HRH Archduke Zechariah. Other assets will be divested in the following years.

Currently institutions have been able to accumulate CUL. This will be phased out so that the jointly-owned generators of CUL (such as the Town Hall) will pass the CUL through to owners. If this were not so, it would make sense to accumulate CUL in institutions only, since they never die. We seek to make another metric for historical institutions to replace CUL.
