If it has been unlocked using the secret question then there are better chances of getting it back. PM the guy hilariousandco with all the details like what the above post said. Global Moderator is able to deal with these kinds of problem and as the guy I referred is the most active guy on the forum chances are high that you are able to get the account back soon. If I've understood his issue this will be an issue for the admins. I can unlock accounts with proof but I can't reset details or secret questions and if op can't change it then the hacker will just keep gaining access via that. |

On the new forum I think there should be several parameters to limit who can vote or even participate in your thread (when you self mod) that you can choose yourself (limiting it to certain ranks of your choosing etc and limiting it to merit could also be included).

Don't worry, because of the new merit system, they will not be able to get out of the newbie status. If they just spend their time posting away in megathreads, it won't yield them a rank up anymore since nobody is going to merit them.

Your "rank" does not stop you in any way from meaningful participation in this forum.  These people don't really care about making any meaningful contributions, hence why the merit system is needed. They got used to lazily making their one line shitposts day after day just to breeze through the ranks and get paid by crapcoin campaigns in the process. I love when low-ranked members say shit like this.
Reaching Legendary takes over two years. Earning 1,000 merits within that time shouldn't be that hard to do.
This is the point that people are missing but for those people who have dozens of accounts shitposting their way through ranks now isn't so easy and that's what most people are annoyed about. No more easy ticket to the rank of their desire just by logging on once a fortnight to splurge some half-assed post out. Now they have to put some effort in and that's why they feel so robbed. |

It's still pretty bare bones and hardly a huge perk really. I have suggested and still think we should consider implementing the other membership levels with additional perks. Silver Member gets you everything a Full Member has and Gold everything a Hero does (with possibly additional benefits). Offering these ranks will essentially kill the market for farmed accounts and hackings as nobody will bother buying them when you can just purchase a legit one from the forum instead. At least all those crying that merit is too difficult to achieve can just buy the privileges instead and the money then goes to the forum rather than someone selling accounts or merits etc.
If you can't beat em join em eh? Price will ultimately determine where most account buyers would go. The forum would basically be competing with the farmers. If the farmers offer better pricing than the forum enough people will still buy accounts that way. My original suggestion was to remove signatures all together and the only way to get one was to buy the membership. That would have killed farming almost 100% because it's impossible to get a signature any other way. Farmers wouldn't really be able to sustain the market even as it is. It's already incredibly time consuming to farm accounts and has to be done so over a long time (1.4 years or whatever for a Hero) and because of the merit system it probably isn't going to be worth doing en mass. Now people will probably be forced just to having the one or two accounts to concentrate with. Buying an account is also still a very shady market and one where you're likely to get scammed. Most of the people selling accounts are either straight up scammers or are selling hacked accounts and if nobody is going to really escrow them that increases your chances of being scammed or the deal going bad. I'm sure the vast majority of people would just rather create their own legit account with a name of their choice and then purchase a donator rank rather than just buy one off the black market to save a few dollars *and risk getting scammed). |

I wouldn't be against prohibiting users from selling their accounts here as the majority of people doing so are either straight up scammers or shitposting spammers, but giving people the option of being able to purchase the signatures from us with membership would essentially all but kill the market for them instead. Sales could also be banned as well to pretty much put the nail in the coffin of account sales here.
I really could not understand how will this be banned ? I means one can take actions on members using this forum to such sale or purchase. But what about the members selling outside the forum. How will they be caught ? For instance, suppose a seller has made a website for selling accounts and gives account details after payment. How will th admin catch such members ? It is not possible to ban this. It's easy to ban their sale here but obviously we cannot do anything about their sales elsewhere but that's irrelevant just like we can't stop the sales of drugs off site but we can here. Most people won't be aware of such sites selling accounts either and most will be scams anyway like they currently are. Besides,and as I already mentioned, if people can purchase bigger signatures with donator ranks the accounts market will be all but dead anyway. |
