2261  Economy / Speculation / Re: How it went from 780$ to 708$ in hours ? on: June 21, 2016, 03:13:45 PM
This correction in a bull market was healthy actually. Price was starting to go parabolic. This shakes out the weak hands and leveraged positions, get ready for a little consolidation then on to a new ATH.

Good to know thanks for taking the time. I think you will sell all the Nano S you can make.
2264  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 21, 2016, 03:51:08 AM
From the August 2015 low to the June 2016 high we have been in a bitcoin bull market. A 23.8% Fibonacci correction to $640 would be healthy and not anything to get your panties in a wad about.

2265  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: OVERVIEW: BITCOIN HARDWARE WALLETS █████████████████ Secure your Coins on: June 20, 2016, 10:58:50 PM
I think they had to add a screen in order to compete with Trezor and KeepKey both at $99 now. Smart move. If I read the specs right they have fixed the problems people complained about: you can now initialize a Nano S on an infected computer and no more security card to bother with. I do note they only allow for a four digit PIN though. I would feel more comfortable with a longer PIN. And they beat both Trezor and KeepKey to be the first to offer a hardware wallet for Ether looks like and at a cheaper price. I look forward to buying one.

Opendime is not a direct competitor to Ledger, is meat for a completely different use. In this model, no user knows the private key! So it's less of a wallet and more of a bearer bond.

With Postal Mail shipping to US total cost is...

Our bitcoin shopping cart is almost ready, we've been taking orders via orders@opendime.com for Bitcoin. We've sold a lot in bulk to resellers too, which will likely sell in brick and mortar "retail near you" with no shipping cost. We are looking for a better carrier deal, but this product is not paper thin like ledger so it is not as cheap to ship.

@BitcoinNewsMagazine I would strongly suggest you take a close look at our FAQ and other material on https://opendime.com, a lot to be learned there.

Sorry no interest here in OpenDime. I do have some experience marketing and selling on the web, just pointing out that your potential customers want to see the price up front and pay with bitcoin. You probably have lost customers by not making the web site clearer and incorporating bitcoin payments from the start. Good luck with your project.
2267  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: OVERVIEW: BITCOIN HARDWARE WALLETS █████████████████ Secure your Coins on: June 20, 2016, 06:21:00 PM

Reported on reddit that the Nano S will work with Mycelium on Android. Could you guys please consider selling a decent OTG adaptor for newer phones that use USB C? I am aware there are adaptors for sale on Amazon but they are crap, do not work.
2268  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: OPENDIME: Zero-Trust Physical Bitcoin Wallet – Bearer Bond – Credit Stick on: June 20, 2016, 04:15:05 PM
I spent some time on Opendime site trying to figure out how much this piece of hardware cost.
And it turns out it is only visible if you are filling out shipping information, not the best idea imo.
Also as others already pointed - I was disappointed to see you are accepting only credit cards payment.
Because of that I won't be able to buy it unfortunately as I don't have credit/debit card.

The lowest price Opendime package is a pack of three Opendime for $37.50. With Postal Mail shipping to US total cost is $46.20. That works out to a cost of a little over $15 per Opendime. In comparison you can get a full featured Ledger HW.1 hardware wallet shipped free to US for $18.

I do not understand the logic of making a customer start to place an order before price can be seen. Also, you really should have integrated bitcoin payment using Bitpay or Coinbase from the start.
2269  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Trezor question: Going very cold, would that be different than Ledger (USBs)? on: June 19, 2016, 10:07:46 PM
Surely you do not expect a Trezor to last indefinitely. That is why you guard your 24 word seed in case you lose your Trezor or it breaks. You can then quickly restore to a new Trezor. I had a three month old Trezor go bad, it happens. Keep a spare handy!
2270  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ANN] KeepKey - The Simple, Secure, Hardware Wallet on: June 19, 2016, 02:02:01 PM
Looking at the image, I can't see it. Is the besel visible? (Can you see a distinct line between the LCD screen and the case of the device?)

Anyone interested in the Trezor 2.0?

If you look at a KeepKey from the side you see a dark grey aluminum base and the black clear plastic screen. The dividing line is exactly half of the depth of the device. You can see some clear pictures at the Amazon product listing. The case is quite beautiful and pleasing to hold. Looks like something Apple might design.

Since both Trezor and KeepKey cost the same, which to buy?

Reasons to go with KeepKey:

1) You like the looks and do not need a hardware wallet that works with your Android phone. You are comfortable using it with Multibit HD or the Chrome extension. Passphrase protection of your seed is not essential to you, but you like knowing you can do it using Chrome or Electrum.
2) You appreciate the 12 word seed and the novel rotating cipher recovery method. Perhaps you store the seed securely and wipe the KeepKey between uses, in effect turning it into a transaction device for a paper wallet.

Reasons to buy Trezor:

1) You like the compact size and do require a hardware wallet that works with your Android phone and many other wallets.
2) You do not mind storing a 24 word seed and realize recovering your seed to a new Trezor is slightly less secure than the method KeepKey uses in theory.
3) You need the password manager recently introduced by Trezor.
4) Trezor was the innovator with a two year track record. You prefer to support SatoshiLabs rather than KeepKey, who build a business off the open source Trezor firmware.

Either will serve you well and there is no reason not to own both. Though most folks who use a hardware wallet tend to stay with one brand and become intimately familiar with its features. Remember that all electronics can fail and it is a good idea to have a spare of your favored brand on hand in case of loss or failure. Trezor 2.0 is sometime in the future, not in a few months. There is no reason to delay purchasing a Trezor as your current one will continue to function as designed even if an improved version is introduced.
2271  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Case Physical Wallet Question on: June 19, 2016, 05:25:41 AM
Hey guys, im interested in purchasing one of Cryptolab's new Case physical wallets. What appeals to me is that it is a standalone device, without needing a computer or a phone to operate (like the Trezor or Ledger hardware wallets)

But this also has some downsides. You have no direct connection to the internet.

I have a question. To send a transaction, you'll have to use the built in scanner to scan a QR code. What if you have just a bitcoin Address? The easiest way to send that is to convert the address into a qr code, which is a complicated process. And how do you get people to send to your case wallet? A qr code. What if you need someone on the other side of the country to send you bitcoin? Problem there.

So is there a simpler way to send/recieve bitcoin on a Case, or Case 2 coming out, or is there even a better alternative?

Case wallet has a built in cell chip that communicates with the Case server. The cost of the lifetime cell connection is baked into the $199 cost. You can only use the Case device to scan and send bitcoin to QR codes, you can not send from the Case to a bitcoin address.

When you set up your Case wallet you are given access to https://dashboard.choosecase.com from where you manage your Case. You have a bitcoin receiving address at your dashboard where you send to load the device. You could just have bitcoin from someone else sent to that address.

I bought one to review but frankly do not use it much. I just use Mycelium on my phone when I need to pay locally with bitcoin. Case does work very well no problems there at all but since I already carry a phone it is one more gadget to carry.
2272  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much of a bump will BTC get from Eth crashing? on: June 19, 2016, 03:26:44 AM
Bad news about any cryptocurrency can flow downhill to affect bitcoin, causing new investors to be wary about investing at all, even in bitcoin.
2273  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: NEW BTC WALLET DEVELOPMENT || LOOKING FOR BETA TESTERS || GET PAID $16/HR || on: June 19, 2016, 03:23:53 AM
Hello BTCT Users,

My team is currently developing a new BTC Wallet, known as the CPS Innovative BTC Wallet.
We are interested in having 5-7 beta testers check out our unfinished product, test some features, and converse with us on what might make it better.  There are a variety of unique innovative ideas that we are working on implementing into the software.  Bare in mind, it is unfinished.

This being said, we will be conducting a very short interview process, and if accepted, we can begin testing right away.

For those interested, we have already went ahead and tested our program through a virus scan which you can see HERE https://scan.majyx.net/scans/result/6c54190de3c4700cddc02eb865ed09897d0215e3
It is also important to know that the 1/35 IS A FALSE POSITIVE.

If you are interested in working with my team, add either Skype:
matt.complexsoftware
william.complexsoftware

Thanks for your support.

Be very careful with this offer from a new account. It is possible you may be asked to download malicious software. The virus scan and money offer are probably a teaser to entice you to reply. A legitimate company with no website?
2274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 18, 2016, 03:53:05 PM
is there a wallet out now? or would i have to keep the coins on poloniex?

There always has been a build-in wallet: simplewallet. There are many more options though, but you should do your own research which one suits your needs.

- https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/48cgmd/an_extensive_guide_for_securely_generating_an/

There really is only one good option IMO if you want a GUI which is LightWallet2. You can let LW2 run with Atrides open node as a light wallet or point to your own bitmonerod client if you want full privacy Monero provides. You would be keeping a full node on your laptop of course. Not that much of a pain.
2275  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: OVERVIEW: BITCOIN HARDWARE WALLETS █████████████████ Secure your Coins on: June 18, 2016, 02:42:08 PM
Anyone have any information on the Ledger Nano S? I've only seen a small tease of a post on Reddit. Looks like it will be officially announced soon. The tiny screen should make some people happy. I'll pick one up when available. I'm still waiting on the Blue though.

https://www.ledger.co/#products

I'll sure get a Nano S to review when it comes out, but you have two good options you can buy right now, Trezor and KeepKey. Darin finally enabled passphrases in Chrome making KeepKey a good alternative to Trezor. Trezor still has the edge over KeepKey for usability with other wallets and your Android phone but nice to see progress. Choices are good to have.

A hard fork would retrieve stolen funds.
2277  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: It's time to withdraw ! on: June 16, 2016, 01:03:32 PM
It is remarkable how much nicer the forum looks if you use the option to turn signatures off in your Profile > Look and Layout Preferences. OP makes good points. Any service offering a percent or more interest a day is a Ponzi scheme. Old timers already know the ropes but it never hurts to remind new bitcoin users the importance of owning the private keys to your bitcoin. There is no excuse for not using a hardware wallet when a Ledger costs less than $20.

Most altcoins are pump and dumps. There are a few that have legs like Ether and Monero. There are also a few good sources of information on this forum to help you make more money from your bitcoin. Since masterluc retired klee's thread on PnF is worth a look. 99% of the other threads in speculation are not useful.
2278  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 94.1 -- Can't send any transactions on: June 16, 2016, 12:53:44 AM
Consult https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ with network congestion if you want miners to prioritize your transaction. Tradeblock shows the average transaction size is 550 bytes or .00033 bitcoin. Round it up to .0004 and that is the minimum fee in bitcoin you should be using per transaction. You could use .0005 bitcoin per transaction to make it high priority.
2279  Economy / Economics / Re: Are the cloud mining sites to go scam? on: June 15, 2016, 02:40:29 PM
I dont think theres one cloud mining site that is legit? An investor shpuld check first if site is transparent enough to show their operation is legit like show their mining rigs, area of operation, owners or operators should be made public.

If the site has an exchange you know it is legititmate, like Hashnest and BW. Genesis Mining has no exchange but is considered legitimate, just has never been a good deal for investors. If you are going to buy hosted hashing power you should buy it at a site where you can also sell if you want or need to.
2280  Economy / Economics / Re: Are the cloud mining sites to go scam? on: June 15, 2016, 02:37:18 PM
If the cloud mining site is a Ponzi they could care less about the halving, will stay afloat as long as new investors send funds allowing them to make payouts.
