I started reporting since that day. Here are my stats to date: 438 posts with 99% accuracy (215 good, 3 bad, 220 unhandled) The large number of unhandled reports isn't promising indeed. I have the same number of unhandled reports, but 15 times more good reports. We reported maybe 300 posts since, still, almost nothing has been moderated. Mods are not really paid, they aren't staff they are volunteers It's a volunteer position, but not entirely unpaid. This is the best indication I've seen, for the Politics & Society section: Whoever moderates that section will get a max payment of around $500 so nobody is going to be getting a 'full time salary' whoever gets it.

Tried sending some btc on receiving address . It has been confirmed ..but did not show up on the wallet. Do I have to be connected online? Yes. Obviously, the balance can't be updated without internet connection. Are you still using the old version of Bitcoin Core? I don't think it's still compatible with the latest blocks, and you'll need to download 185 GB (the full blockchain) before your new transaction will become visible.

Crazy theory: Something makes me believe that aTriz's account was being used by someone else until today(forum time). Now the aTriz who used to manage bounties, is back to prove that he is the owner. Maybe to protect the buyer, if the implications about the account being bought and sold are true?I've just asked aTriz on Telegram. Me: did you give away/sell your aTriz account? This is his explanation: nope de nope Lol. I just hired a guy to complete 15 posts a week so I could earn something from signature and pay the dues. I don't think a signed message will prove anything more than this.

We look like Chinese spam board w/o moderator. So yes close it as you (theymos) don't want to give us a moderator. We have enough ask for help. If you don't mind me asking: how many posts did you report?

This really hurts the eyes mate. It's kinda relaxing scrolling the first page from top to bottom a few times. Try it Not trying to be a douchebag but can you edit the post with the archive.is link for reference please. I don't think that has the same impact as just showing his spam here. Normally, I wouldn't destroy the layout like this, but in this case, an exception was necessary.

If you look closely on that post. I worked on that bounty from march 16 to june 17 every single day! And i did qoute every message so that it bounty manager will work less in finding each pist everyday. If you think it is spamming, then i cant do anything about that.
Why do you think spamming this forum is "working"? Thanks for confirming my point by quoting that rediculously long post again!

Here's the problem, im not a good writer. Here's your problem: you're a spammer. The Merit system was designed to stop people like you from ranking up. Allow me to quote one of your better posts: Now please, turn off your computer.

LoyceV's Legendary Small-scale 10 Month 10 Person 10 Altcoin Investment Experiment: ROUND 2I've made big changes to the OP. Please read the whole post again, and see if you still want to join. Last year, I created LoyceV's Legendary 10 Month 10 Person 10 Altcoin Investment Experiment.Summary 10 people (including me) each put 0.01 BTC in a pot, chose an altcoin, and I bought 10 different altcoins on Bittrex. We've been in a 10 month roller coaster with ups and downs. After 10 months, I sold everything and we shared the funds equally. It turned out 0.1BTC ($433.60) was turned into 0.05149923BTC ($380.62). Financially, it was a failure when 9 out of 10 altcoins dropped in value. For Round 2, I don't want to rely on just Bittrex. I want to spread the funds over 3 exchanges, and leave them on there for 10 months. I now have accounts on these exchanges:- Bittrex (years old, verified earlier this year)
- Binance (opened today, not yet verified, but it says I can withdraw anyway)
- Poloniex (opened today, already verified).
Initially, I wanted to install 10 wallets and keep the coins in my own cold storage. I've decided against this to save myself the time and effort. It also saves transaction fees, but the risk is slightly higher. Using 3 exchanges instead of 1 means more Bitcoin fees when this experiment ends. Depending on the fees at that time, I'll see if a Tether transaction between exchanges can reduce fees. After joining, you agree to stay in until the 10 months have passed. You also agree to any altcoin the other participants pick. Note that the altcoins have to be available for me to buy and sell. Also note that you can lose (most of) your 0.01 BTC, but we can hope it goes up.To join (pick an altcoin that hasn't been picked yet, and use an address you can still access 10 months from now) Post this, replace my details:
Bitcointalk name: LoyceV Altcoin I choose: GBYTE I will pay 0.01 BTC once 10 people joined: yes After 10 months, return my 10% to: 1foreverDArUNEX2gVD26vautcx3b8zTZ If any picked altcoin does an airdrop that requires action to join, please notify me.Starting date Round 2 will start as soon as 10 participants have joined and deposited their share. I will only post deposit addresses after I've paid back Round 1. Update: Round 2 started on August 13, 2018.Sell all date June 13, 2019.No spam All my threads are now self-moderated to stop signature spam. I will remove all irrelevant posts. If you quote the entire OP, your entry will be deleted. Once in a while I'll summarize posts and clean up this thread.I want out! You can't! Once you join, you agree to stay in for the full 10 months.Unofficial waiting list for Experiment 2.0 Many people have shown interest to join Round 2. I'll PM everyone on my "unofficial waiting list" and notify them about this thread.Participants and altcoins This post shows all participants and their respective return addresses. This post shows how much of each coin I bought.Disclaimer Although unlikely, several things can fail. Off the top of my head: An altcoin can simply become worthless and cease to exist. Exchanges can delist an altcoin. 0.01 BTC of an altcoin can drop lower than the minimum amount required to trade it. I keep the altcoins on 3 different exchanges. Bittrex, Binance and/or Poloniex can disappear. I don't expect it, but it has happened with other exchanges in the past. If this happens, your money is gone, just like my money. That's why I limit this thread to 0.01 BTC per person, consider it play money. Join for fun, join for a possible profit, but don't join to gain positive trust (read the reasoning behind this warning here). Why trust me Check LoyceV's Legendary Campaign/Services Portfolio to see what campaigns I am managing. Check Payments to see me share about $1220 after the June 2017 airdrop. Subsequent comments testify to this. Check LoyceV's Legendary 10 Month 10 Person 10 Altcoin Investment Experiment: ENDED to see me return funds for Round 1. See my Trust summary (click "Untrusted feedback"). Check my staked address to see my account is not hacked. If this isn't enough: I have no intention to running I do this for fun, otherwise it would probably not even be worth my time. If this still isn't enough: thanks for reading, don't join

The rest of the transacion (45,500BTC)/$300 million) is just the change that stays in his own wallet. That's certainly a possibility, but we don't know for sure. I think it's much more likely to pay 0.1 BTC, than to pay a weird amount and keep 0.1 BTC as change. It doesn't matter if the 48,500 moved to an address in the same wallet or a different wallet, or to an address owned by the same person or someone on the other side of the world. All that matters as far as the blockchain is concerned is that it moved to a new address - the owner of that address is irrelevant. If you're looking at this from the blockchain's perspective, it doesn't matter indeed. Bitcoin doesn't care. But from the same perspective, this transaction is no different than transfering a large amount of Bitcoins when it was worth just 2 pizzas. Your statement in the OP was this: Now imagine the hoops you would have to jump through to transfer $300 million in fiat, the days of delays, the fees, the people you would have to discuss it with first, etc. And that's why I argue it didn't even happen. It's more like Scrooge McDuck moving a pile of cash from one corner of his safe to another corner. That doesn't give any delays, fees or people to negotiate with. On the other hand, if you do really make a transaction for $300 million, whether it's Bitcoin or fiat, it's very likely the deal needs to be negotiated anyway, which takes much more time than transfering the fiat. On a global scale, I don't think $300 million is an rare thing in fiat transactions anyway.

Well, how can you say that posts are not receiving enough merit if you don't merit itself? In the Merit & new rank requirements theymos said to collect ten posts that are under merited, and if you believe that it should have more, why not give them such? This thread is not about the 10 posts you choose to apply with, it's about the posts/vouches in your thread that you merited. Are you sure that I'm giving an incentive? Yes. By giving a reward to vouches, you give an incentive, even if you didn't ask for them. I can't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure that's why you have a reply like this in your thread: do you really want to be a merit source ? it's a brave friend. being a merit source not only gives merit to constructive and innovative posts but also gives post examples that are useful for forum members. btw I really support you fully friends. you dare. Good luck
I collected ten posts that are under merited and why shouldn't I give the posts that I applied with to not be given? Again: nobody is questioning your Merit on any of those 10 posts.

I'm one of the candidate's supporter who received merit from him from my post in his application thread but I didn't expect that he will Merit it. If it really is a conflict of interest then it would be a problem right? By giving people an incentive to vouch for him, it's possible users vouch for him just to earn Merit. I don't know if this has happened or will happen in the future, but it's a conflict of interest I wouldn't want to risk.

If you do run round 2 I'd be interested in a spot. Just notify me when it comes up. I've definitely wasted .01 on worse investments. Added to my waiting list. I want a spot in if possible please Added to my waiting list. also if I may suggest, you can just add a limit in profits when reached the whole round should be ended and start new one . For example if capital reached X5 the initial amound then all coins should be liquidated distribute profit among participants and start new round . I won't do that, the spirit of this experiment is more or less "all or nothing". And I don't want to do daily checks on the price of all coins. Just like last month, crypto in general is down again. Measured in Bitcoin, we're at a loss. Measured in dollars, we still have a (very small) profit.July 4, 2018. Results ↑↓ after 9 months, with 1 month to go:

I only now noticed I've been counting the wrong month since April, calling it March (I forgot to change my copy/paste here), and then continued to use the wrong month up to last month. I've fixed this by editing those posts.
I still haven't completed version 2.0 of this thread. Sorry for the delay, I'll update here when it's available.

I mean the account is essentially useless (except maybe the smerit if any), isn't it? I think he started with 175 sMerit (assuming he earned maximum Activity in the past year: (378/378)*0.35*500 using theymos' formula). He's had these transactions: 121. 164 Merit received by aTriz (#135920) from 53 unique users in 61 transactions 146. 154 Merit sent by aTriz (#135920) to 46 unique users in 75 transactions That means he should have 103 sMerit left. Buying these will make you a high profile target for Merit abuse hunters.
|
|
|
Agreed. This is a conflict of interest. But I'm pretty sure theymos will notice this too, when considering his application.
When I had my Merit source application open, I made it a point to never Merit any of the posts in that thread.

P.S. Please don't tell me that you will read till page 976 of a thread or whatever big number page, just, please ... ok? * I know 976 was just an example, but ... please I started following that thread when it had 400 pages. Since then, I've read about 95% of the posts. Let's say I've read 450 out of 976 pages by now. That's the difference between just dumping a post in a Spam Megathread, and actually caring for the content of a thread.
|
|
|
Now imagine the hoops you would have to jump through to transfer $300 million in fiat, the days of delays, the fees, the people you would have to discuss it with first, etc. I'm disappointed. In 4 pages, literally nobody noticed what's really going on! He (whoever he is) didn't transfer $300 million, he transfered $618 (0.1 BTC) to 1K7y31fJidER3XdcPTPHjNZeUTrisKbvqz . This scenario is much more likely than assuming someone just transfered $300 million in Bitcoin to someone else. The rest of the transacion (45,500 BTC)/$300 million) is just the change that stays in his own wallet. Now, if you want to compare this to fiat, it's just a multi-millionaire who buys a cheap new TV. If he would have paid in fiat, nobody would bat an eye. But he didn't, he paid with Bitcoin! And now the seller knows that he owns $300 million. That's not only a huge risk for his privacy, but also for his safety. I can only assume most Bitcoin multi-millionairs use more than one wallet, and wouldn't be so dumb to pay a small amount from a very large balance.

This definitely goes against the spirit of the merit system, and especially Theymos's suggestion that merit should be for "objectively high quality posts" It does go against everything Merit stands for, but I don't think you can prevent that. One way or another, Merit will also be some sort of a popularity contest. Assuming equal quality, a more popular thread is read more often than a less popular thread, and thus more people can Merit it. When it comes to ANN threads, the large number of users outweigh many better threads with less users. Unfortunatley, "free money" threads are much more popular than interesting technical discussions. I don't quite get why people are meriting ANN threads. Any bag holder has a financial incentive to lure other people in. Are these thread-starters getting some sort of kickback from this? Is it to get the threads on the "most merited threads" list? Are people just kissing ass? I think the more interesting question is: will this be sustainable? Theymos already said Merit trading will eventually be a very small and expensive part of the Merit economy. The spammers will run out of their airdropped sMerit, and won't earn new ones. So let's take Deeponion as an example, because I only know that name from being a signature campaign paying many spammers. The top 10 Merit awards came from: dreamhouse (30) ermaxinc (27) monocolor (25) cryptodv (20) doothewop (16) seddik (15) Morchid (12) vinc3 (11) mo (10) fisheater (10) Total: 176 Merit. In the past 120 days, only cryptodv, Morchid and fisheater have received Merit on their own. Their total is 10 Merit (1, 2 and 7 each). That means that those 10 users combined, would have at most 5 new sMerit to use. To summarize: They gave away 176 Merit to this thread since introduction, and earned 5 new sMerit in the past 120 days. My conclusion: this phenomenon will die out once they run out of sMerit.
