22781  Other / Meta / Re: Report to merit sources - to give them merits. on: June 16, 2018, 06:44:16 PM
I'm itching to merit a post/topic because I find them informative and helpful but I can't.
It's easy: make good posts yourself, you'll earn Merit, and with that sMerit to give away. But most of your posts are countless lists of Twitter links, so it's unlikely you'll earn much Merit.
But: your English is decent (compared to most people who post on the Philippines local board, and you seem to be able to produce decent posts.

Quote
I know that there are merit sources here that gets sMerits a month and they are supposed to give an "x" amount of merit if they find a post/topic informative or good, but these merit sources are only few and I'm not sure if they can handle all of the posts here.
I wouldn't mind getting suggestions of worthy posts, but it has to come from a source I trust not to waste my time.

Quote
I would like to suggest to add a function like "Report to merit sources" and let them review if the posts are informative or helpful.
I'm pretty sure this has been suggested before. It won't work: it's very subjective which posts receive Merit. From my own posts, the ones Merited are often not the ones I would have expected to get any.

Quote
Here is a thread which I find informative but only one user bothered to give some merits- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=140793.0 and I found posts on that thread informative.
The thread was started over 5 years ago, that's why I won't likely read it anymore.

If merit sources are scanning each posts, then reviewing a post reported to them won't be hard.
I'm reading stuff because I'm interested in it. If someone suggests something, it's like a random entry to me.
While I'm reading poss anyway, Meriting them only takes a few seconds, just like reporting posts (which I do much more often).
22782  Other / Meta / Re: Full merit transaction history for any user on: June 16, 2018, 06:30:14 PM
Let's give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that it was extremely forward thinking and an attempt to give you a particular test-case; it would be a good exception-handling check, or at least something to play with once you automate things.
If it would be LoyceBot posting, it would have ended up with an empty post, without username. But it's not LoyceBot posting, so it's just me.
I'm more and more thinking of just generating 20,000 merit histories each week, where you can click usernames to go to their profile. That would solve all my manual work, and it's much easier to use that way.

22783  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [BUY] I need to buy 8000 BTC in Berlin for cash on: June 16, 2018, 06:11:41 PM
So, you are telling us you want to do a 50+ million USD deal? In Cash? At the Bank???  Roll Eyes Lolos... People are really losing it nowadays...
And the teller at the bank will happily verify one million 50 euro bills for you, while you wait! It's only 1000 kg of banknotes anyway, so it's no biggy carrying it in and out of the bank. Nobody will question you of course, this is all normal (if you're a drug cartel owner!).

I've said it before: it's crazy how scammers now went from small transactions to rediculous transactions. But I love how two scammers are each trying to scam the other scammer, and if either one of them "earns" $100, he has a very good day, or even week!

To be honest, I just wonder why Electrum is not having a mobile wallet. It is gonna rock!
Electrum does have a mobile wallet, Electrum Bitcoin Wallet on Google Play. I don't think it's available for iPhones though.
22786  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow Account Was sold Proof on: June 16, 2018, 01:55:51 PM
Umm, shouldn't the OP be red-tagged as an (potential) account buyer himself?
He could have been an account buyer, or he could have used it to bait the account name (I doubt an experienced account seller would have fallen for that).
I think being a whistleblower on this is more important than him (alledgedly) wanting to buy an account, so he shouldn't end up with red trust. Then again, I never leave red trust for account trading by myself.

Quote
And another theory; could it be that someone hacked Gleb's account, and then Gleb regained control of the account again, given all the activity on May 24? Or is that just a wild theory?
If that would be the case, I would have expected Gleb to mention it.
22787  Other / Meta / Re: LoyceV's Merit data analysis on: June 16, 2018, 12:54:50 PM
Thanks, LoyceV. I don't have skills to do those things (getting data from raw data published by Theymos) because I am not IT technician. I simply have ability to analyze data; if you get more detailed datasets which contains more variables, I can help you. If you interested, I can help you.
Interesting first post Wink
What would you like to analyze? Just adding variables makes no sense without a specific goal.

You can download the data for all the merit transactions within 120 days from the following link:
https://bitcointalk.org/merit.txt.xz
If you use my list, you're not limited to 120 days.

22789  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow Account Was sold Proof on: June 15, 2018, 08:41:36 PM
Gleb is a DT member
He is, but it doesn't make sense as he has no Sent feedback at all.
22790  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow account sold or hacked? on: June 15, 2018, 08:15:38 PM
I'll just leave this here (archived because it shouldn't be in Meta):

Gleb Gamow account has been sold or the owner has attempted to sell. This account should have negative trust.

That would make this the sales thread (archived): [WTS] Legendary User Account with Dark Green Trust.

@hilarious: assuming it's okay with you, I've suggested this:
I suggest you have Global Moderator hilariousandco confirm the PM is real. I think it would work if you click "Report to Admin" from the PM, and choose hilariousandco (he opened the thread on this subject). Type the reason with your report.
22791  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow account was sold Proof on: June 15, 2018, 08:15:24 PM
You should post this on the Reputation board. Even better, add it to this thread: Gleb Gamow account sold or hacked?.

I'll quote you there.

I suggest you have Global Moderator hilariousandco confirm the PM is real. I think it would work if you click "Report to Admin" from the PM, and choose hilariousandco (he opened the thread on this subject). Type the reason with your report.
22792  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Is Mycelium still a good wallet to use? on: June 15, 2018, 08:13:12 PM
One of the biggest problems Mycelium has is that you can't customize the network fees.  Yes there are options, but there's a limit of how low you can go.
The minimum it allows now is 1 sat/byte. That's as low as any Bitcoin transaction can go.
But, when fees were higher, the minimum was higher than this too. I prefer to be in full control, let me decide how long I want to be waiting for my confirmations.

Quote
Last year when fees were off the charts, I had funds basically stuck in Mycelium because it was too expensive to send anything.
At some point I've been exporting keys to be able to use a lower fee. Later on, they added the option to adjust fees.

Quote
Still, I think it's a fantastic wallet and I wish the developers were still active.
I didn't know they're inactive. I get the occasional update from Google Play.

did you see how Loyce formats it? It's very similar to how BitcoinTalk does (with clickable links). For example, here is satoshi's merit history.
Just checked it. LoyceV is doing a great deal.

A lot of young users will get drawn in by these evil sites like fortunejack, bitdice, etc.  We should  protect these newcomers and not expose them to gambling websites.
Soon they'll also discover porn sites! Let's close the internet.
Seriously, it's up to parents to teach the dangers of the internet to their children. Adjusting one website doesn't change anything.

I will be starting a petition to ban all gambling advertising, gambling boards, and gambling discussion to be completely removed on bitcointalk.
What makes you think Bitcointalk is a democracy? Theymos values freedom of speech, which means you're free to suggest this, but don't expect it to be implemented.

22797  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BESTMIXER.IO - Truly Anonymous Bitcoin Mixer! on: June 15, 2018, 12:32:48 PM
3. BESTMIXER CODE CAN NOT BE LINKED WITH A SPECIFIC CLIENT. READ ITEM 1, ITEM 2.
But can it link several addresses together? How do you link that code to the previously used coins; is it like a database/list of codes and transactions?

Quote
Two questions for you, LoyceV:

1. How does your FAVORITE service (of course, in YOUR opinion, the best service, otherwise you would not put advertising of this service in your signature) can guarantee that by mixing 1 BTC today, your coins will not come back to you in a day, a week or a month? (bypassing 2,3,10,100 transactions)?
They don't guarantee that. They explain it better than I can, so I'll quote their relevant posts:
I have a concern people, Let's say I send 1 BTC to Chipmixer and it commonizes into smaller chips, example 0.25, 0.1,0.1,0.5 etc etc.. and it gives me the keys all good. But when you spend the transaction and spend it anywhere it seems like it's very easy to pinpoint chip mixer transactions in a block.

Lets pick any block for example and see that there will be barely any transaction that's output is EXACTLY in 0.25 or 0.1 or 0.125  and if there are any transaction you can easily link them to chip-mixer transactions. I been scrolling through last few blocks and I can't seem to find any exact whole output.. when I did a transaction it was so easy to notice on block explorer in the block that was mined.

I suppose the only privacy we get is the fact that no one can pinpoint who exactly sent how much to chip mixer.
ChipMixer provides fungibility, not secrecy.

When you use CoinJoin or TumbleBit, you fungible bitcoins but it is no secret that you used it.
When you use Tor, it hides your connection, but it is no secret that you used it.
When you use Https, it hides your data, but it is no secret that you used it.

Fungibility means that every chip-sized transaction may be owned by anyone and there is no connection with previous transactions.

I agree with most of your post, however, having unconfirmed inputs in a regular size does not prove they were mixed by chipmixer at all... I could easily use some of my unspent outputs in a transaction that generates new outputs with the exact same value as chipmixer's chips...
It does not prove they were mixed by ChipMixer... but maybe they were? Lets say you are a blockchain analytist. You encounter ChipMixer-like output. You assume there is 50% probability it may be ChipMixer, so there is 50% chance no link between input and output. You have just gained some fungibility even when you do not use ChipMixer.

Creating your own chips make blockchain analysis harder. We encourage everybody to do that.

2. Could you, please give an example of at least one method of attack on a client associated with the BestMixer code?
The only thing I can think of is that someone gets his own coins back after they've been mixed again by someone else. But that's just a matter of chance (not an attack), and can happen to any coins.

Well, that was fun! Your 0.0005BTC was gone when I checked it, and right when I wanted to secure your 0.011 BCH, I saw it disappear in front of me.

Big mistake but a small loss. Now please learn from this!
Unless you're just trolling, it doesn't make much sense to do this after having big transactions in the past.
22800  Other / Meta / Re: How about leaving - feedback on hacked account once verified proof. on: June 14, 2018, 09:01:24 PM
You're again making 2 big assumptions.

* assuming that @BitcoinBazaar is actually not the hacker himself or someone w/ a vendetta against the account holder.
