You're talking nonsense. I was talking about the age now you switch to other random information that everyone should know by now. Nice argument.
I have no interest in arguing with you, literally 0. In fact I'm not even sure what your argument is, compare the age of BTC, LTC and DRK is not a valid argument as to whether the coin will increase to its ATH again. That only holds water if you believe that it has the longevity of BTC and LTC and I provided reasons why I dont think it does (see first crypto, first accepted alt), the "other random information" are real arguments as to why it may not go to ATH again or has a long life ahead of it. In reality the fact that I think LTC is also dying doesn't really do your argument much favours either if such an old coin can dwindle away. Yawn, the alt section is littered with exactly these sorts of comments "Don't worry the coin is still young compared to BTC". The difference between LTC and DRK is LTC not bringing anything new to the table over BTC. The decreased block generation time, increased maximum number of coins, different hashing algorithm are tiny improvements. The coin only gained value due to ASICs entering the race. It was a save heaven to the miners that could no longer get a ROI. DRK is bringing a lot to the table. Darksend, Masternodes so far, and it's still open to hardforks if major changes are needed/planned. This is a massive thing that differentiate it from LTC and BTC, both of which are against hard forks. This means we can still make ground breaking changes to the coin where LTC and BTC are as is. 'dreamspark' - unable to comprehend innovation. Spot the irony, eh? ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

"The difference between the Nxt Brain Wallet and Bitcoin is there is no automated generation of your passphrase/private key and there is no wallet.dat-like file. A Bitcoin private key still can be bruteforced without access to created wallet.dat file." extract from = http://www.nxtcommunity.org/ under brain wallets. is that a true statement? as far as i know you cant brute force a wallet.dat? or atleast there is no known hardware/software that can do it? If anyone had the ability to crack a wallet.dat with a strong password, they wouldn't be wasting it on a wallet.dat... ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) edit: if anyone (joint NXT/DRK holders maybe?) would like to participate in my masternode asset experiment, some details are here: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/masternode-profit-shares-for-sale-via-nxt-asset-exchange-initial-1-month-experiment.1725/ - if this is considered spamming or otherwise some kind of faux pas, let me know and I'll happily remove it, the nxtforum captcha gatekeeper is still barring my registration there, I have no clue why.

* Master Node pools Get the word out to invite people to set-up master node pools for those that can't afford a master node on their own. Price goes up. And if THAT doesn't work out, hmm... There's some pretty cool stuff on the table beyond RC4 ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) . In the meantime, if you have a few NXT lying around doing nothing, have a look at this: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/masternode-profit-shares-for-sale-via-nxt-asset-exchange-initial-1-month-experiment.1725/Thought it would be fun to play with, relatively small amounts at stake, and something bigger and better might come of it. If you wish, please comment in the darkcointalk thread, let me know what you think. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Initially, since this is an experiment as much as anything, I want the asset to have a lifetime of 1 month from date of issue. Can I do this just by stating that's the deal in the asset description?
You can do it, but you have to make it very clear to everyone, and set the price accordingly. (You could in theory buy back the asset shares at the end of the month, but it's not a good solution.) I don't think there were an asset so far that had a time limit. There is no way to destroy an asset. Especially shares that you sold to others. Question: Having issued the asset, by default I own the 1000 tlcMNT, and can then set an ask price on the exchange?
Yes. All issued asset will be in your account and you can post ask orders, at any price. Question: the 1000NXT fee to list the asset - who/where does that money go to?
As any fees: to forgers. Whoever forges the block after you issued the asset gets the fee. Thanks Vega. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Maybe start dates and finish dates could be added to the platform at some point, they are quite common in financial 'products' I believe... In the meantime I am going to go ahead and give it a try, if bloody cryptsy ever send me my NXT so I can pay the asset issue fee. It will be an interesting (to me anyway!) experiment I think.

I am thinking of issuing an asset, is this thread an appropriate place to ask some questions I have about the notion?
Sure, but it would be best to head over to https://nxtforum.org ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) OK I tried to register there but was defeated by the captcha 7 times and got bored of it, so here goes: I would like to issue an asset and have some questions I hope someone can help me with. The asset would comprise shares in the profits of one of my Darkcoin Masternodes. ie. no. of DRK the Masternode earns minus the server costs. So: issue asset 'tlcMN' or whatever with say 100 tokens. 1 tlcMNT = TBC amount of NXT, representing 1% of expected Masternode profits. Initially, since this is an experiment as much as anything, I want the asset to have a lifetime of 1 month from date of issue. Can I do this just by stating that's the deal in the asset description? Question: Having issued the asset, by default I own the 1000 tlcMNT, and can then set an ask price on the exchange? So: people hopefully buy, trade etc. the asset, and at the end of the month I check the blockchain, and send proprtional amounts of my Masternode profits out to whoever owns what quantity of tlcMNT at that time, minus proprtional share of server expenses. Question: is there some way of then delisting/destroying the asset? Or is it just assumed to be defunct as that was the deal stated in the asset description? Should I call the asset 'tlcMNTJULY14' to make that clear, as I don't want people selling on now worthless asset shares and having the new owners bug me about not getting paid. Question: the 1000NXT fee to list the asset - who/where does that money go to? Am I basically on the right lines here or have I got the wrong end of the stick? I'm principally a Darkcoin investor at this point but like the idea of the NXT platform and this seems like a neat way of combining the two, allowing DRK holders who don't have enough to run their own Masternode to buy a share in one while utilising NXT and hopefully, if I get my numbers right, making me a little more profit than my MN alone would. Apologies if these are all really stupid questions! I'm dense on occasion. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Answers/critiques/suggestions/invitations-to-bugger-off-all welcome, thank you. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Reset IP on the non-voted node. Create new genkey, make a new 1k deposit, and fire it up again!
It's been voted for recently so there's no need to panic. No offense, but I think that's bad advice anyway. As long as other nodes show your node as active it will be voted for eventually.Of course a lot of people say "I changed the IP/deposit address/mnprivkey and after that it worked". People (me included) can't grasp randomness. Things will look odd to us while mathematically everything's totally fine and normal. What you want to happen will always appear to happen much less often then it apparently should and vice-versa. E.g. people think they miss trains / busses / the subway "all the time" while that actually happens hardly ever relative to how often they get it. Yep. Re-doing your IP/pubkey/privkey etc. will just lose you your current votes.

Also, so everyone knows, I'm working on getting the OP of this thread updated.
Thank you eltito! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) We might appear to the untrained eye to be a pack of ungrateful moaning bastards, but we're not, really. Well, some of us aren't. I'm not, anyway. Sometimes. Hi Patner, Did you saw : pool_unknown_126 don't pay our MN ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif) More lucky next time Yes, just noticed. At least we can be sure it's working though. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I'm going to put my rented Amazon CPUs to work mining tomorrow as well.

Was able to grab 4BTC worth of DRK more at these prices to complete another masternode. So happy. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Grrr, trying to sell a stack of R9 270s and kW PSUs as I've just bought a load of 750Ti cards to mine with, no spare cash for cheap DRK. ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) And not a single payment today on my 4.6 MNs, but hey, I have food in my belly and a curvy wife in the bedroom, it's all good. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

OK next newb question, 'warning your account has no public key...' but I can't see anywhere obvious to generate one?
Send NXT to generate a public key. It happens automatically. Or I believe you can create an alias and that will do it, too. Thanks, sent someone their 1 NXT back so hopefully that's taken care of. Can't now afford an alias until cryptsy delivers, lol.

New to NXT, bought some on cryptsy, withdrew, never appeared in my wallet. Using linux 1.1.6 version. When I check my ID in the blockchain explorer I get nothing found. Is there something obvious I am missing, apart from cryptsy being crap? Not set any alias if that matters?
Anyone kind enough to send me 1 NXT so I can see it I'm set up OK? I'll send it right back.

sent 1. its probably cryptsy. should use bter. much better Thanks all! 06/07/2014 00:30:20 0 + 1 NXT-VL3W-6BC7-D8LN-CR8NV 2 06/07/2014 00:28:54 1 + 1 NXT-VL3W-6BC7-D8LN-CR8NV 2 06/07/2014 00:28:02 1 + 1 NXT-2GR5-UW2W-CZ5B-7TJT3 2 Wallet working fine then, but if there's a 1 NXT tx fee, I can only send 1 back until my cryptsy boatload arrives. NXT-2GR5-UW2W-CZ5B-7TJT3 you're 1st, cheers mate. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Litecoin won't avoid ASICS because of the risks of a hard fork, so they've decided to do nothing about it.
LTC chose not to fork because their 'devs' haven't actually ever actually dev'd much, certainly not recently, and a lot of them had already sunk very large sums into scrypt ASIC preorders.
|
|
|
Haven't been able to keep up recently. Sporks: are they a permanent feature of alt-coins? Hard forks can now be replaced by 2-step implementations, including checkpoints? If so, no more ASICs unless it is voted upon by choice? Part of LTC price pressure has been said to be down to ASIC miners dumping https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=2327.msg190260#msg190260BUMP Can I ask, are Sporks the end of ASICs? BUMP Have we Has Evan just saved Bitcoin and Litecoin? OK, now this is silly. I'm having a bump conversation with myself. Someone save me. Did Evan just save Bitcoin and Litecoin from ASICs? The reality is that any coin, using any algo, can change anyway if the will is there to avoid ASICs. LTC had the chance and made the wrong choice, BTC still could but never will for a whole host of reasons. DRK, with Evan + team, *is* willing and able to adapt as neccessary. Sporking might make it easier for other coins, but it's nothing they couldn't have done anyway.
|
|
|
Alright cheers, I'm forwarding this to my engineers to see if we could make this work.
We are adapting. The point is via lazy coding you are increasing the number of headaches in my life and I have enough already.
Dear fellow DRKheads, these guys do have a point, stop ragging on them so much. Maybe someone with Evan's ear might mention these issues and see what might be done in future to improve the situation? The whole ecosystem needs to be supported, not just our particular favourite parts of it, anything that can be done to help should be considered.

BTW. I think YES...but ...miners will I be able to keep 3x R9 280x Gigabyte w/ Sempron 145+mobo Asrock 970 Extreme 3 w/ RAM 4GB w/ HDD on ONE 750W OCZ FATAL1TY PSU? Till today have 2xPSU OCZ because I bought it on scrypt mining wanted to have 2GPUx2PSU...with X11 I think can get 1 PSU.... what should be pool from the electricity socket? Thnx....
My 270's pulled about 75W each from the wall IIRC, so a good 750W PSU should be OK for 3 280s.

Hi, May be the question was already ask, so sorry about it. I was looking the exelent http://drk.poolhash.org/masternode.html of the president. And I want to know what the means of having "-" in the column Balance? Instead of 100x (or some other 0) Only the last of mine have this and I just set it up few minutes ago. Maybe because it's new and fresh one? chaeplin's script only updates the balances every 3hrs I think. You can see it in the blockchaain explorer though. (Links just to the right of the address) - the extra 0.1 of our joint MN was just a test amount I sent first. Thanks partner, we'll talk about keeping it up in a month... ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)
