Guess we need some benevolent miner to throw some hashing at it. This coin needs to be fixed, stat. Just move the price up on cryptsy substantially and pools might hop to AUR. Difficulty is extremely high, though. Can someone calculate at what price we might get some hashpower? |

Less than 100 maybe, but not less than 10 coins. I mean stop spamming my threads bro. I was around a bit in 2011 and then had other obligations. I don't feel left out because I stopped paying attention to bitcoin for awhile and missed out on some of its gains. Money isn't everything.  looks like "less than 10 coins" to me. -70 < 10 ;-) |

The auroracoin blockchain is frozen at 10570. Also the network hashrate is frozen at 7.36 GH/s.
Does anyone know what's going on?
Oh wow. Difficulty started exploding March 8th. (from ~90 to ~500) Now we seem to be stuck, maybe because that huge mining power left? (hashrate isn't frozen, it just can't be calculated without new blocks) |

I keep getting this message "Timed out while waiting for the magic character" after trying to send out BTC with Electrum 2.0 that has Trezor Plugin. Yes, I did enter the right passhprase/PIN and fee amount. I didn't notice any server connectivity. It was showing as in sync and there didn't seem to be any apparent time out. It actually immediately popped after entering my PIN and all the inputs needed in the Send tab... In fact, changing the server and restarting didn't make any difference at all. If I tried to send again, it'd show either this: "<class 'trezorlib.messages_pb2.PublicKey'>, expected (<class 'trezorlib.messages_pb2.Success'>,)" Or this other error: "Tag had invalid wire type" Or this: "Unexpected end-group tag" None minimally user friendly or at least a bit more explanatory. Using this plug-in my Bitcoin is stuck... :-/ I'm a bit confused...Should I only use the latest Electrum 2.0 wallet that says that it has Trezor Support or do I also require to install the code from the Trezor github as well?  ? Any ideas to fix this? Thanks just a hunch: this sounds like transport layer problems (USB). Does the trezor work in myTrezor? Maybe try different cable / hub / usb port ? |

Good news! So I asked the mycelium team to implement trezor support for androids via an OTG cable and now they are working on it. There is already a version in bug testing with a full version to be released soon  (I got extra info from a PM) I would also like to request that Mycelium add support for the Trezor hardware wallets with the use of an On-the-Go cable. I believe the Trezor team has already put some code on GitHub as an example of how to incorporate it into multiple wallets. Thanks for your consideration.

Question about economics: say we have a hard fork coming up and people expect 2 chains with trading as described earlier by Zangelbert. Will that generate buying pressure on BTC (vs. fiat) beforehand because everyone wants to participate in 'the doubling' of coins?

If you spend bitcoins on one fork then anybody can publish same transaction on other chain ... I think :-)
The wallet could manage that by moving the coins to fresh own address on the other chain? |

Die Vergrösserung der Geldmenge ist für die Wirtschaft kein Problem. Starker Preisverfall oder starke Preissteigerung jedoch schon. Inflation bewirkt aber Preissteigerung (with everything else being equal). Nur derzeit nicht in den Sachen, welche für den Konsumentenpreisindex verwendet werden. Das kann aber theoretisch noch kommen... Also ich weiss ja nicht was ihr für Definitionen verwendet aber eine Ausweitung der Geldmenge ist eben NICHT begrifflich gleichzusetzen mit Inflation. It isn't the 20MB block size that scares me, it is the automatic doubling every two years until we reach 20GB blocks. This scares the crap out of me because if a problem turns up we need a fork to pause the scaling. I'm starting to wonder if forks are really that big a deal. Imagine if all the exchanges were set up to handle economic arbitrage of two or more forks. Say you have 20 BTC on Bitstamp when a fork happens. Your account is automatically split into 20 BTC in BitcoinOld and 20BTC in BitcoinNew. If you don't know/care about the fork, you do nothing. If you think one of the two is obviously more viable and/or obviously more likely to get support, you immediately start selling BTC in one for BTC in the other. Since everyone is doing the same, I bet this all plays out in a matter of minutes because once the trend becomes clear it will snowball since no one wants to be on the losing fork. Luckily, again, you can sit out the arbitrage and leave your stash untouched whichever fork wins. It's just that you can earn yourself some extra coin if you guess the winning fork correctly. Now to guard against possible glitches in BitcoinNew, even if it wins in initial trading, BitcoinOld will probably still retain some value for a time - for instance 10% of its former value for a few days or weeks - as a representation of an estimated 10% probability of a glitch in BitcoinNew. After that it would likely fade into nothingness. All the while your bitcoins are safe no matter the outcome. Not only is this far faster than waiting for "consensus," it also ties more solidly into the basic economics of Bitcoin itself. As Daniel Krawisz has pointed out, where investors go, everyone else follows. Investors have the ultimate control, so the forking process should reflect this and exchanges should be setting their systems up for this. I agree. I would like this scenario a lot more if we replaced "exchanges set up to handle multiple forks" to "wallets/nodes set up to handle multiple forks". Maybe I should prepare for such scenario and have a node / wallet ready that does that. Anyone have a suggestion? |

Ich kann nur sagen, sobald eine meiner Banken sowas anfängt wird sie unverzüglich zur Ex-Bank. Unzuverlässige Geschäftspartner kann ich nicht brauchen. Vermutlich zickt so eine Bank dann auch rum, wenn man sein Geld in Bar abheben möchte. Wo kämen wir da hin, wenn die Kunden (begrenzt) selbst über ihre Einlagen verfügen dürften. Mal sehen ob die betroffenen Kunden nun etwas daraus gelernt haben. Wenn ich raten soll, würd ich sagen - Nein! Die ing-diba hat mich mal angerufen (ist schon Jahre her) wegen einer überweisung zu mtGox. Ob das gewünscht sei? "Ja." "Ok, geht durch, danke und entschuldigen sie die Störung." 3rd Factor auth sozusagen. Ich finde das die richtige Reaktion. Das schliesst aus, daß es sich um einen Betrüger handelt oder Hacker der meine Zugangsdaten hat. Damit ist das Risiko für die Bank dann ja wohl gleich null, oder? |

wir fliegen nächste woche für 4 wochen nach amerika und machne dort n roundtrip .
jetzt zur bank zu gehen und die stark abgewerteten euros in $ zu tauschen möchte ich vermeiden .

Es besteht ja auch die möglichkeit sich btc auf kreditkarten auszahlen zu lassen hat da jemand erfahrung mit ?

ich glaube ich würde mich da auf localbitcoins verlassen... vielleicht lernst du da auch nette Leute kennen. Natürlich etwas Bares mitnehmen und eine Kreditkarte auf jeden Fall auch, sonst glaubt man dir bei der Einreise vielleicht nicht, daß du Geld hast. |

dieser extra bonus für btc hodler, genannt €-schwäche, ist schon was feines. ich schaue in letzter Zeit häufiger mal den BTCEUR chart an. Ist noch einen ticken hübscher als der BTCUSD  viele bitcoiner erleben gerade wie wichtig und richtig es sein kann sich via btc gegen "einen" fiat-verfall abzusichern.

Am besten funktioniert das ganze, wenn sich jeder einfach selbst überlegen würde, was ein Bitcoin für ihn persönlich wert ist und dann entsprechend handelt.
Das kann man sich nicht im stillen Kämmerlein überlegen. Was 1 BTC für mich wert ist hängt ja davon ab, was er für andere wert ist bzw. mal wert sein wird. |

Warum regst du dich so drüber auf, selbst wenn's kompletter Humbug ist? Geht der Markt in die falsche Richtung wegen diesen Linien-Idioten? ;-)
