One thing to also check is the version that is installed with apt-get.

E.g.
bitcoin-cli getinfo

2284  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: help with finding issues in a modifcation of Bitcoin core on: May 17, 2015, 01:08:04 AM
The first thing that jumps out at me is whether you have increased the number of file descriptors available. And if you know the number 15.04 defaults to.

It may not be related but 646 connections, it is something to check.
2285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Mac Wallet Qt help... on: May 15, 2015, 09:30:01 AM
Two things:
1. Is this "Californium-master" or bitcoin related?  It is off-topic for here if not Bitcoin related.

2. You may want to look at this error:
fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git

Did you clone the repository?

2286  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: how to maximize block download speed on a single local node on: May 13, 2015, 01:57:17 PM
Hi,
A few questions:
1. Is this with Bitcoin Core 0.10.1?
2. Are you only syncing the block chain over your local network to one other machine?  If you can sync from multiple machines, that can speed things up.
3. HDD or SSD on the machines?
4. CPU specs?

:-)

2288  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What happened to my SENT BTC? Did I get scammed or was it lost in the ether? on: May 07, 2015, 11:51:58 AM
If you check the 1GmQFe5vhMJJ4hfMoTNaoR5HJDVdHfh8Ye address with that transaction, it shows up.

Bitcoins just don't vanish, it is either an unspent output or not.  So it seems the seller is scamming you or has a problem with their wallet.
2289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Error code 5 when running importprivkey on: May 07, 2015, 01:37:28 AM
Great! Glad you got it fixed!
2290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Error code 5 when running importprivkey on: May 06, 2015, 05:50:16 PM
What wallet is this?  Bitcoin Core seems less likely since you are talking about "The Dev."  But could be Bitcoin Core and something. More details would be useful to know: what software, versions etc you are using.  ;-)

As I mentioned these are not Bitcoin wallets, but are alts built from bitcoin QT wallet source.
The error code 5 message should be a standard error from the QT base. Just like error 4.

You will probably want to ask in (or move this to) the alt-coin section that is appropriate for it then.

I couldn't tell if it was built from bitcoin QT source or not.  Are they built from 0.10.1?  What alt-coin?

Seems like this probably belongs in the alt-coin section where they'd probably know a bit more about clams, e.g. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=623147.0

:-)

Its the bitcoin wallet that is acting up ?

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood where the problem was.

First, backup what you have.  So no matter what happens, you have your private keys backed up.

Second, what wallet are you using?  Bitcoin Core presumably?

Third, Shorena had good advice regarding whether it is synced fully or not.

Fourth, you can look at your addresses in one of the block explorers (e.g. blockr.io blockchain.info etc) and see where the coins actually are - not the clams, but the bitcoins.

Hi,
I don't know where there is any documentation for it, perhaps someone else has an idea.  :-)

PDF link on blockstream site:
http://www.blockstream.com/sidechains.pdf

:-)

I was not aware that the use of alt-coins as a carrier of the sidechain is already a part of the discussion. But thank you for bringing me up to date. This helps me better understand what is going on.
No I have not seen the sidechain paper.. Could you be so kind as to send me a link?

Thanks again for clarifying!

2297  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lost my coin very confused plz help on: May 05, 2015, 01:48:08 AM
Are you using Bitcoin core?

I'm confused about what you are asking. A wallet can have many addresses.
2298  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin donate button on: May 04, 2015, 08:05:30 PM
Hello, I have question how it works bitcoin donate button in blockchain.info. I have script, which yesterday work with it and today it doesn't work. I send bitcoins of amount $9 and not recived to target wallet - it lost Sad Any ideas?

edit:
I dont understant, how it works, that i must send bitcoins to different wallet as target... In this different address my btc realy are, but i cant get it Sad

You should try asking in the right sub-forum:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=85.0

That said, I saw lots of notes that the Blockchain.info API was not working properly for them - depending on what you making by "it doesn't work". See e.g.:

3/ Forking BS over and over again. now just before the Halving. hOw friggin convenient.
          https://github.com/gavinandresen/bitcoin-git/commit/5f46da29fd02fd2a8a787286fd6a56f680073770

I am not sure how ~15-16 months away from the halving  - only about 67% (15.5/48) of the way to a halving - is "just before".

A low limit on the block sizes was only considered a temporary measure all along.
