Mining info?
I heard they are nearly all mined now, but maybe I heard wrong. Is this true? If so, who's still mining? And what's keeping the network secure?

Another idea for wallet 4.5 - could we add a miner directly in the wallet? It looks like *our clone* YBC actually has a built-in cpu miner and a mining pool hosted through 'pool.ybcoin.com'.
The most common thing I hear from new miners is 'its complicated to set up.' I think being able to mine, mint, and save transaction all in one software would be attractive to new users.

Is CENT even mine-able anymore? I have like 40 that I mined when it launched, but everyone keeps saying they are holding billions. Considering there isn't a (single) developer, it doesn't seem like a good idea to 'invest' in CENT, but if mining is possible...

Joe and company, you can buy using a buy wall bot guys...you're coders *hint* You'd need an exchange API and off you go. I miss mining yac, got rid of all my r7 240s :/ My own coin is mostly mined now, but we're having trouble with the exchanges adding us (seems like they are all a bunch of corrupt scammers...) It would be really cool if we could find a better way to deal with the trading side, I think that's a big flaw with altcoins (and Bitcoin) right now. Unregulated exchanges managed by shady people who only care to make a quick buck out of the bigger fool. Does the Yacoin team have anything planned? It could be a nice addition, or maybe a partnership with the Invictus folks... Anyway, I anticipate an altcoin surge after Bitcoin resumes the major uptrend trendline soon. Hold on *tech noob here*. How do I set up a bot to buy YAC? It's been an intense process here consuming many hours of my day.

So no CPU or GPU mining possible profitably.
There are some CPU and GPU which is profitable but your electricity need to be dirt cheap... ' Dirt cheap as in free. CPU and GPU mining is for the nostalgic or college kids that have the university paying for electricity. The mining industry has matured beyond CPUs and GPU. I'm afraid you're right - its kind of scary isn't it? Wasn't one of the key concepts of all crytpo-currency that everyone 'owns' it and was able to mine it? That way there are 'millions' of peers rather then a few big 'monopolies' that 'controlling' the currency. Everyday it seems like there are fewer and fewer (bitcoin) miners and most other currencies are following suit... Is a crypto-world safe with only a few dozen 'big' miners? I've been pondering it for quite awhile...

CPU mining is neither profitable nor good for CPU. You would rather get your CPU damaged.
Well, I have several old computers that are 'ready for the dumpster' and I don't really care if they experience any kind of damage. And with winter right around the corner, I wouldn't mind a small loss for the extra heat. I just know that cpu mining was the 'new' and 'coolest' thing when Primecoin came out, but now that doesn't even seem profitable. It doesn't seem like there are any 'popular' CPU coins right now.

Best cpu coin right now is monero... but it won't last long as someone is developing extremely fast GPU miner for it..
XMR was good for CPU until the GPU miner came out. And then the price crashed and no longer worth the hassle mining I've noticed this as well. And it doesn't seem to be on too many exchanges yet. I heard that cryptsy couldn't add it because it the wallet address length was too long?!?! I think only Primecoins for CPU mining. I've been considering mining Primecoins for months - but it seems like the price continue to drop. Has there been any new development to the coin? Or is it also (eventually) doomed to the GPUs?

I'm looking to add to our team of core programmers. There is much to be done for 0.4.5. Anyone is welcome! Send me a PM or "apply" in this thread. Better yet, submit a pull on github I unfortunately have very little programming knowledge - but I would be more then willing to help beta-test any new versions or updates. Something else I noticed in 0.4.4 that maybe we could correct in 0.4.5; it seems that the 'estimated total blocks' and 'last block time' in the debug window might not be right. Below is a screenshot of my debug window. The client is fully synced and has been running for a few days.
It looks like the difficultly has begun to stabilize around 70. I've been checking about once or twice a day, and I haven't seen it go past 68-72 in about a week. That makes each block 'worth' about 78 YAC, giving about 112k new YAC per day.
Is there an open source window's GPU miner? If so, where could I find it?
On another note... I noticed that http://explorer.yacoin.org/chain/Yacoin doesn't seem to be up anymore and http://explorer.yacoin.org/ doesn't offer API. I have a few google spreadsheets that I use to use to import some of this data (difficultly, block number, etc). Is there somewhere else I could get this information? AFAIK there isn't a way to 'automatically extract' this data from the wallet. It would be nice to have these fields 'automatically' update again.

I've been following your post since the beginning - I find this very interesting.
Have you thought about keeping a simple google spreadsheet to help show what coins you invested in and the profits/loss that you've occurred? It might be good to show your current portfolio and the current value.

Who has good configuration for R7 240 4GB with yacminer3.5.0? This miner looks tired of working on N16. MSI R7 240 4Gb LP overclocked 1150core 1000mem L 6 B 3750 R 1200 On dev with mon connected B 3620 R 1500 If some HW decrease R low step Catalyst 13.12 req In current N-factor needs 16Mb mem for each raw thread on lookup 1 If lookup 6 16/6=2.66(6)Mb per raw thread, 3750/2.66(6)=1407 raw threds R 1400 unstable, and I decrease to 1200 R9 270x 2Gb best results L 16 B 1620 R 1600 overclocked 1160core 1500mem but coins/watts = non profit on 270x I think your look-up gap needs to be higher then 1. Did you try Thritybird's setting generater? http://www.ultracoin.net/configgen_raw.htmlAlso it is good to realize (if people is investing to mining hardware) that quite soon N is 17
The next N factor change isn't until Tue, 23 Jun 2015 22:54:24 GMT. That's over 276 days at the time of the post. I believe this is the longest N-factor we've had yet. For possible future wallet development - I'd like to throw the following on the table for consideration. Some of the new POS 'only' (Reddcoin, Blackcoin, etc.) have this nifty arrow in the bottom of the QT wallet. When the user hovers their mouse over it, it indicated there 'weight' and an estimation of how long it will take to mint. Under the console they also have 'stakeweight' and 'netstakeweight' which is also interesting information. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to 'import' these features, or if anyone else would find them useful, but I thought I would pass them along. *bump* Anyone have any thoughts on this? Would this be difficult to add? No, not difficult. This can be part of 0.4.5 which will be a major upgrade. Excellent! I look forward to this.

It is the Social Wallet. It has some fun features I am just exploring now. The wallet is right on the Reddcoin website. I just updated my wallet the other day and I completely missed it. It stink it needs to download the entire blockchain again. I would have been nice if it could use the one already downloaded for QT and use the same addresses. I take it I'll need to import my existing address from QT to the social wallet, if I want to use them?
