1861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoin was a worst decision of my life on: November 07, 2015, 02:55:34 AM
Buying loads of coins at around $100 was not a bad decision for me. Smiley
It was pretty clear that the $1000+ prices were a bubble, I sold most when it hit $1100, I believe.

Just kept a few to play around with and tripled them over time.

Timing the market is difficult.
Best is to hold a few coins and benefit from long-term price appreciation.
1862  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin network worth 20 Trillion dollars on: November 05, 2015, 01:33:36 AM
i have this ... 30 trillions = 1 BTC = 1,5 Millions USD.

We should cheer each of those milestones.
Waiting for Bitcoin to cross paypal in valuation.  Grin
1863  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin will be banned ?? on: November 05, 2015, 01:30:16 AM
They cannot stop individuals from using Bitcoin.
They might try to kill it through over-regulation.
1864  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin Declared Illegal In Taiwan on: November 03, 2015, 03:15:45 PM
That's just being naive in my opinion. What about all ransoms in cash or into swiss bank accounts back in the day? Are they gonna ban cash now too?
Saying they will ban btc is like saying they are going to not let you torrent movies anymore. Sure both are illegal but how many are getting caught with it?

The government doesn't have to state the real reasons for the ban. This ransom demand provides them a convenient excuse to ban Bitcoin.
Taiwan's loss could be other countries' gain. Other countries will benefit from the Bitcoin economy.
1865  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-11-02]Taiwan Declares Bitcoin an Illegal Asset on: November 03, 2015, 02:23:21 AM
Surprising. There are other countries in the region which have a neutral / positive attitude towards Bitcoin.
Taiwan could be missing a trick here.

1867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia Proposes Jail Sentence for Bitcoin Activities on: October 30, 2015, 12:54:16 AM
So ponzi schemes are legal in Russia, but Bitcoin illegal?

idiots

Countries which have a weak currency / are insecure about their currency tend to attack Bitcoin.  Smiley
1868  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-10-29] The Economist: The great chain of being sure about things on: October 30, 2015, 12:51:20 AM
I always enjoy reading mainstream media articles about Bitcoin (when they are positive).
The article covers the various possible uses of Bitcoin, plus the possible disadvantages - 51% attack, effect on environment, blocksize debate, etc.
Good read!
1869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin CEO spent stolen funds to Buy Sex on: October 28, 2015, 03:02:43 PM
Bitcoin CEO indeed...
The media seems to be intent on sensationalizing any news related to Bitcoin.

Bitcoin will grow faster than gold, since there is a lot of gold on Earth

What the hell is that supposed to mean?  Shocked
I didn't expect this in a published article.
1871  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-10-26] Global Election Services to explore blockchain on: October 26, 2015, 11:43:37 PM
The immutable nature of blockchain is very attractive for election applications.
It could result in a decrease in the number of disputed elections.
1872  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-10-26] Scary: Islamic State Fighters Using Bitcoin To Fund Terror on: October 26, 2015, 11:40:00 PM
Virtual currencies such as the Bitcoin are either being used by the foreign fighters of the Islamic State (IS) or are in the process of being used, says a report by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Founded in the year1989, the Paris-based FATF is an inter-governmental body which works on measures that may help in combating the flow of funds to the terrorists.

http://www.newsbtc.com/2015/10/26/scary-is-foreign-fighters-using-bitcoin-to-fund-terror/

While they say that this is an "emerging risk", they don't specify what percentage of terrorist funding is through Bitcoin. This is intentional, because they don't want to miss out on a juicy headline.
1873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you holding your bitcoin for a price increase? on: October 25, 2015, 02:44:47 PM
LOL.

Im looking at the BTC price now @ preev and Im really surprised with current movement just now! From $292 it down to $288 in just a matter of seconds then I think after 3 seconds back to $292 mark again lol.

Price can move rapidly.
Just set yourself a level at which you want to sell and make profits. That level can be insanely high as well.  Grin
1874  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-10-25] Island of Jersey to Soon Give Isle of Man a Run for Its Money on: October 25, 2015, 02:41:09 PM
Island of Jersey, the self-governing parliamentary democracy in Channel Islands will soon have a digital currency friendly regulatory regime. The government’s plan was announced by the Assistant Chief Minister of the States of Jersey recently.

More competition is welcome.
Even if it is the traditional "tax havens" which have digital currency friendly regimes at the starting, this will soon spread to other regular countries.
1875  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-10-25]Bitcoin Groups and Law Enforcement Unite to Form Blockchain Alliance on: October 25, 2015, 02:38:00 PM
Bitcoin Groups and Law Enforcement Unite to Form Blockchain Alliance   A group of digital currency companies and organizations, as well as a number of US law enforcement agencies, are establishing a new public-private forum in a bid to foster communication and education between the government and industry stakeholders.

These kind of news are positive for Bitcoin's image. After all the negative publicity surrounding Silk Road and hackers, coverage like this is welcome. Too bad it isn't more widespread.
1876  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN IS BETTER THAN WESTERN UNION ? on: October 21, 2015, 12:45:47 PM
Bitcoin may become better than Western Union for money transfer.
There are reasons why Western Union is still around. We will have to see how Western Union adapts to the changed environment once Bitcoin usage becomes more widespread.
1877  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-10-21] Bitcoin Payments Make Perfect Sense for Outsourcing Micro Jobs on: October 21, 2015, 12:40:11 PM
The problem is still the last mile connectivity.
Micro jobs are usually outsourced to people in developing countries. If they can't convert BTC to fiat easily, we have a problem.
1878  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bank or Bitcoin Wallet? on: October 19, 2015, 06:27:58 PM
I thin :)k bitcoin wallet is the safest..... Transactions with hash encryptions and always will make out a secure and private environment for you where you can sit back and do transactions

Some people might argue that insurance compensates for the safety aspects that you mention above.
1879  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will the world look like in 10 years if Bitcoin succeeds? on: October 16, 2015, 03:56:27 PM
I will be on an island and quite rich.  Cool
The Forbes billionaires list will see quite a bit of churn, though I still don't expect Satoshi to reveal himself.
1880  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-10-15] Bitreserve rebranding heats debates on anticipated death of bitcoin on: October 16, 2015, 03:33:45 PM
The debate on Bitcoin's death has been going for quite some time now.
The debate is the one which should be buried.  Tongue
