22884  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am I Missing Something, Why Make Receiving Bitcoins Difficult? on: January 20, 2015, 06:22:27 PM
https://bitcoinarmory.com/ Armory is another great secure Bitcoin wallet which will take you through all the steps of the process for a secure wallet
it might be easy but not NEWBIE friendly. since you have to download 25GB of Data. in other words a new user needs to wait a couple of hours at best to synch to be able to see what is what. and that is exactly an example of what OP means

... complicated ways of receiving bitcoin that would probably turn others off like the noobs or masse

i personally prefer Blockchain.info
22885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: invest in a coin under 100 sat on: January 20, 2015, 03:54:49 PM
Dogecoin is the best coin under 100 sat. now, and is a good idea invest on it because some day was at 200 sat.
Doge is a joke,
it was started as a joke.

it will die.
many many coins will die soon before Doge will die, either newer or older than Doge
22886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: invest in a coin under 100 sat on: January 20, 2015, 03:52:27 PM
Doge is good and fun and specially have a nice community, but don't expect it to get HUGE profit out of it it will hover between 58-70
recently i am interested in MYR since it has a good price and there is a block halving coming up
22887  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anyway to learn whilst you earn? on: January 19, 2015, 04:10:53 PM
Is there anyway I could maybe learn about Bitcoin and earn? or any joob which I could learn and earn Bitcoin from it? I want to take advantage of the currrent low price of bitcoin but am not skilled enough to offer any services at the moment.
You could give coin learn a shot http://www.coinlearn.org/

It pretty much like a faucet that give you bitcoin for reading how it works and what not
sneaky way to promote the website Cheesy
anyway, what happened to the payments, it was every week but got stuck in last year!
22888  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blockchain and Multibit on: January 19, 2015, 04:08:07 PM
Multibit.

Computer wallets are always better than online wallets

depends on how good someone's opsec is, but in general computer wallets are more secure and offer more control.

If I need some help setting up electrum would someone be willing to offer their help?
you need more help than what is provided at the official website here: https://electrum.org/tutorials.html

if you need any help ask in this section, or in here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=98.0
22889  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Faucet asks BTC signature on: January 19, 2015, 04:05:03 PM
Why faucet want signature? I think that are not necessery for faucet

To sing addy is necessary for pass recover ... you have to prove you are owner of address (and no just somebody who knows your address)

i think that will not be a problem for me if someone using my btc address for receiving payments Cheesy
exactly what i was thinking! why would someone use another person's address for a faucet. and also for recovery a simple Email address would suffice.
22890  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Let Me Bet For You on: January 19, 2015, 03:54:17 PM
use an escrow so that people may trust a newbie account with their money!
22891  Economy / Gambling / Re: Best bitcoin dice strategies!! on: January 19, 2015, 03:41:41 PM
Of course, none of the gamblers in fact possessed infinite wealth, and the exponential growth of the bets would eventually bankrupt "unlucky" gamblers who chose to use the martingale.

22892  Economy / Gambling / Re: Story about a big win > 5 BTC on a gambling website on: January 19, 2015, 03:37:51 PM

22894  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: is there any lightweight wallet which lets 0 fee transactions? on: January 19, 2015, 02:32:36 PM
Sending 0-fee transactions is generally a bad idea.
yeah, yeah, i know, i know

Low-fee transactions (like 100 satoshis fee or so) typically come through eventually, even though it may take up to 24 hours before they get confirmed. But zero-fee txs tend to get lost. even payment providers that normally accept unconfirmed payments will typicall refuse zero-fee transactions.
to my knowledge there is no difference between 0 tx fee and Low-fee transactions (like 100 satoshis fee or so) both will be considered low priority and will be dealt with in the same way
22895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do I grow My Dogecoins? on: January 18, 2015, 12:12:58 PM
there are many sites who giveaway free dogecoins. Alternatively you can deposit your dogecoins on exchanges like bter.com and you can collect daily interest on those coins.
the fees which you have to pay are more than the interest they pay you!
22896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2015 - YOUR ALL GETTING SCAMMED!! on: January 18, 2015, 12:07:02 PM
sadly the altcoin scene was always full of scams. and with the recent hit to the bitcoin price so many users turn to altcoins
22897  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: is there any lightweight wallet which lets 0 fee transactions? on: January 17, 2015, 06:53:47 PM
I'm using Electrum 2 beta, but have no problem sending 0 fee transactions

Tools > Electrum Preferences > enable "Set transaction fees manually"

Send Tab > Fee 0 BTC

Electrum will intelligently calculate the transaction priority based on amount and days destroyed, if your priority is too low, it will stop you "This transaction requires a higher fee, or it will not be propagated by the network."

If you send old coins, then you wont see the popup and the transaction electrum will broadcast the transaction.

i couldn't do this in my electrum with any coin age. it is the latest version (version 1.9.Cool
but when the same private keys were imported in blockchain.info i could send them without any problem.

i am gonna give the beta a try now
22898  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: lightweight wallet ?? on: January 16, 2015, 07:03:13 PM
electrum is using external 3rd party blockchain, it is dangerous, i don't get this idea... why to risk security for a little less downloading? Wink
good thing about open source programs is that you can check the codes and see if there is no foul play in it, or if you don't know anything about coding, you can search social networks like here, reddit, or github and be sure that a famous application like Electrum or Multibit will have some people who checked the code before

and also it is not "a little less downloading" it is the difference between 25 gigabytes of data and 30 megabytes both downloading and having enough disk space for it
22899  Economy / Speculation / Re: All the people waiting for the next halving: Please explain on: January 16, 2015, 06:42:22 PM
i dont think the halvening is going to effect directly on the price although it will have some effect since the "supply" or new coin created every day will decrease while "demand" can be the same

also miners will give up mining since it is not gonna be profitable anymore, although i am not sure how that can effect the whole transactions and price
22900  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm All In - Sold My House! on: January 16, 2015, 06:30:19 PM
Hi All,

I have been following Bitcoin for over a year and was the first person ever to put my house for sale for bitcoin.

http://www.cbc.ca/newsblogs/yourcommunity/2013/03/alberta-man-accepting-bitcoins-in-exchange-for-home.html

Not sure if you followed my story from a year ago, but the house just sold on Friday, and will make the news tomorrow I suspect. When the house closed on Friday I got approximately 648 BTC for my house which is based on prices over the past 6 months when the deal was actively negotiated, legal fees, realtor fees, and a bunch of contract wording that I frankly don't understand. I am now all in! I really believe in bitcoin. It is the future of the world. I look forward to the continued price increase and one day I plan to own my own island. I will truly be a bitcoin billionaire by the time I am 25 I believe. This house was inherited from my father who passed away a few years ago and he always believed in me and told me I would make it big one day and so I shall. Wish me luck Smiley

how is the island's weather? i hope it not in a thunderstorm...
