did you download the blockchain headers completely? click on the green icon on the lower right corner and check if you have the latest block.

i have a fairly strong password for the electrum and also i wrote down my seed on a piece of paper for the future uses.

i cannot send with lower fee or 0 fee from electrum and my transactions have more than 250 confirmations now!
Remember, you must use the install version. And be careful that you're editing the actual files being used. (ie. if you installed Electrum twice in two different folders, make sure you edited the one that is actually being used with your Electrum.) If you follow my instructions, you'll be able to send. (I have sent 0 fee transactions on numerous occasions) i am using the installed version and also edited the actual file also created a new electrum on my virtual machine. but nothing worked it is worth mentioning that i am trying to send 0.001 BTC just to try out Electrum |

Yo there  I use MultiBit as my Bitcoin wallet , and seems like it dosen't have an option to change the fees . is there is anyway to change them or send without fees ? Im about to buy BTC can i buy Bitcoin without my wallet done sync-ing? its been almost 2weeks non-stop sync-ing.  now its 15weeks behind Can i buy? Thanks advance and God Bless!!!!! yes you can buy and receive bitcoin as long as you have the address but for sending them you need to be sync-ed |

i agree with previous comments and say best Web-based online wallet: Blockchain.info installed on pc wallet: Electrum and to answer your question what do you think should be the features I should be measuring
1. is the desktop wallet full node or uses SPV 2. do you have control over your wallet like access to the private keys 3. how long was the wallet around and what is the popularity 4. add some explanation to somethings like why Blockchain privacy is weak but coinbase is moderate?! 5. what sources did you use |

Would putting password in keepass be fine? Dont now about dropbox and gmail.
How do i do cold storage?
try googling these kind of general stuff, like how to create cold storage. you can find better answers this way. sometimes with good step by step tutorials. |

Why would anyone use anything other than brain wallet? I mean installed on your own computer, not running on someone else's server. Is there some reason why it is not the most secure, easiest to use wallet on the planet?
it is the secure as long as you use an strong passphrase and don't forget it. also people need other wallets like online ones to send and receive on daily basis. |

Numerous coins will be integrated. After seeing so much potential with cryptocurrency I wanted to make it simple. And I want to make it so that it's potential is met. At the same time of providing a valuable service, there's also going to be a coin that not only will rise in value, but support nonprofits as well. It may be irrelevant to most of you, but there's a lot of symbolism in the project, and a lot of adversity faced in bringing it to reality. Working a full time job and working on this on the side has been the most important project I've focused on in my life. I'm motivated because I truly want to make a difference in the world because I see cryptocurrency as world-changing, and I see all these amazing things that can be done with it. search for your .wallet file or it's location. if it is deleted try recovery programs to recover the file. or if you have your private keys or any sort of backup use that

(DISCLAIMER: You must have the installed version / the source installed version for this to work. Packaged exe files will not let you mess with the innards.)
1. BACKUP YOUR WALLET FIRST! Just in case.
2. Find the Electrum install folder
3. Navigate to ...\lib\bitcoin.py
4. Open it with a text editor that supports Lf line breaks (hint: Notepad for Windows does not. but WordPad (also comes with Windows) does)
5. Search the file for "MIN_RELAY_TX_FEE = 10000" or just "MIN_RELAY_TX_FEE"
6. Change 10000 to 1000.
7. This makes it so that you can send transactions with 0.00001 BTC fees. But you will still pay whatever is in preferences, so after saving and closing, don't forget to set your preference's fee to "0.00001 BTC per kB"
You can set "= 0" if you want to get rid of the minimum, but be warned that any transaction that is not eligible for a free transaction with a fee less than 0.00001 BTC will not be relayed by most nodes.

faucets are way too slow and waste of time. in order to earn bitcoin you have to sell something like a service.

i don't like electrum anymore. since you can not send with custom fee, ive tried everything to change it but i couldn't!
