2321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PURE POS]Information Coin(ITC) Fair&Free distribution New thread on: May 07, 2014, 09:00:33 PM
I'm surprised this coin has floated about the 250 level for long as it has. It has had the occasional spike, but no real pump. And not a ton of sellers willing to go below the 200ish level (which is smart).

It should be at least 500+, based on how other coins have done. Even comm went a lot higher, based on max coin levels, and had two good pumps. And their distribution wasn't exactly a smooth one.

I guess the coin needs to get on Mintpal, before it moves up some.
2322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [HP] Name contest for HoneyPenny. on: May 07, 2014, 08:54:50 PM
Lets just call it nameless coin / namelessness note or something in that fashion. It indicates anonymity and that this is a no name coin Smiley

Yes, for some reason I like that name... or nameless name.
2323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] about NEM New Economy Movement (everyone should take 30 seconds) on: May 07, 2014, 08:52:06 PM
Did anyone get any free stakes, or did everyone have to buy them? If they had to buy them, how much were they?

Not sure if anyone got freebie stakes early on, as that was before my time. Or at least before I noticed the coin. I was on the waiting list and got a stake, at .1 btc. Glad I got in, as it looks like an interesting project.
2324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QBC] Québecoin - X11 - DGW - (BITTREX) - Win/Mac/Linux Wallets - New on: May 07, 2014, 07:22:36 PM

I know you guys are excited to make it work and spread the word and for those who have been really enthusiastic, don't let that die down but save it for later. Right now isn't the time to spread the word like crazy about QBC, that will come once we have some stability in price and better market liquidity.

So, don't give in to the FUD, I'm still here even if I'm not posting every day and QBC isn't done by a long shot.

I personally think you should rethink that strategy and try to post here at least every other day. People have very short attention spans in cryptoland ... go a week without seeing a dev, and people think the worst. You can argue, probably rightfully, that logically it doesn't make any sense, nor will it affect the coin longterm. But people here base decisions on conjecture and hype more than logic, quite often.... or probably most of the time.

I still think you should at least outline your plans and dates for distributing small amounts of coins locally, locking the premine, and move up promotion/getting on other exchanges. One way to increase volume is through arbitrage trading.
2325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / Best Community In Town! on: May 07, 2014, 07:11:42 PM
XBC will have a good week. Wallet/website soon. Mullick from cryptsy helping out. We'll be Mintpal and cryptsy soon no doubt. Buy books for XBC on the rise.

MintPal and/or Cryptsy would be major things for the coin... voting should be a priority, after the new wallets come out. That assumes they just don't take the coin automatically.

It's weird, but when the coin started off, I worried about price manipulation on Poloniex pushing it up. It's a small exchange, so it doesn't take much to move a coin along. Now I see more manipulation pushing it down, rather than up. Yet it still has a very decent floor... a lot higher than it was during the last price hike.
2326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QBC] Québecoin - X11 - DGW - (BITTREX) - Win/Mac/Linux Wallets - New on: May 07, 2014, 06:39:59 PM

Oh... did not notice that he had revealed the address here. I take everything back... there is hope after all Smiley

Heh, worried he'd spend that premine? I can understand wanting to see it all locked up safe, but that isn't really a big concern, at least to me. There is simply nowhere he could spend it if he wanted to. I think a couple thousand coins alone would crash the Bittrex market.
2327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QBC] Québecoin - X11 - DGW - (BITTREX) - Win/Mac/Linux Wallets - New on: May 07, 2014, 05:30:32 PM
Jesus fucking christ!! Talk about rosy glasses being in denial!! Let me remind you some facts. This is not pessimism or FUD. These are FACTS.

JP is MIA after raking in 20+ BTC .

He refuses to reveal the premine address.

He is holding on to 21 million QBC!

The rest is all speculation. Now don't get me wrong. I would like nothing more than him to get back.... It would save everyone a lot of trouble. Prices will rise and I can sell my 200 or so QBC and move on. I have no incentive to spread FUD around here or even looking to lower the prices to buy cheap. The prices were going down even before I came along. Now looking at these three facts, anyone with half a brain can come to their own conclusions without extrapolating too much.

Yeah, I understand why those who still hold the coin and believe in it, write support posts. I mean, it's common sense, as they still hold the coin and negative comments may lower its value. I actually have more QBC than when I started, but it's still not much, around 200 or so coins too ... it'd be great if I could cash them out for a decent price.

But we need to be realists. The issue isn't the price even, community or support. It's simply the dev needs to be about here more, lock up the premine, do some promotion and get the coin on at least one or two other exchanges. And mail that syrup.

It’s only the beginning, but I can already smell the potential. I know there are more people that believe in this coin. And to those of you - be vocal about it! It’s much needed to counter-weight to the FUD and hate.

Sometimes supporters of a coin perceive negative comments as FUD/Trolling, but really I don't see that in this thread, surprisingly, at least not to a large degree. I guess it's because most trolls pick on more popular coins and they have an ulterior motive, namely to drive the price down, to buy in... then back off and cash out. If people were spreading FUD or Trolling, you'd see giant fonts, red text, and crazy insinuations (Quebec isn't a real place, it's made up!), repeated non-stop. Instead we just have people asking for the dev to stop in here more often.

Blaming the developer for the coin not beeing as aspected is quite stupid in my opinion , you can put that time and effort in making the coin better.

I am not sure if you are reading the same forum I am. People here blame the dev for vanishing from the forums. There is a correlation between exchange price and whether a developer is active or not here. And it's worse when the coin is an ipo and has a giant premine, and what was once a super active dev in the forum, basically vanishes. It's common sense that people would be concerned.

As for other exchanges, that is up to the dev. I am not sure if he even wants us contacting smaller exchanges (I made the offer in this thread, but he hasn't shown up since to respond). Forget MintPal, that's a pipedream.

Promotion, distributing small amounts to quebecers (like he said he would for promo purposes), locking up the premine, getting on other exchanges... we need the dev to do any of that stuff. Just saying it should be up to the community, is  silly. And also impossible.
2329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QBC] Québecoin - X11 - DGW - (BITTREX) - Win/Mac/Linux Wallets - New on: May 06, 2014, 09:12:35 PM
I don't think it's a scam. IPO is still here : https://blockchain.info/address/1Gx1FQqLByduumKPyaXVChi7SrknAtDZJE

Please JP come back and answer to everybody ASAP.

That means nothing. I wouldnt touch it too if I was smart. It would trigger a chain reaction and the prices would would reach 1 sat. I would rather sell my QBC stash showly at ever decreasingly slow pace. Remember as prices get lower, high rollers will see it as an opportunity to grab on to some cheap coins in the off chance that it raises in value later. If that blockchain moves and with a MIA dev, it would spiral out of control and you cannot milk the speculators.

There is another possibility as to why he hasn't been posting here very much, besides thinking it's a scam, or the dev is busy or incompetent. He could simply be embarrassed by the initial price drop, and wants to come back with an android wallet/multipools.

There was all this talk of reaching Spaincoin pump prices, which it never even came close to. So I guess to some devs, they might feel bad and/or feel odd posting a lot, unless they can show they have something new to add to the coin. It's a misguided thought process, but it's possible.

Just a theory ... the scam theory also works... but I think it's too soon to say what the reason is.
2330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QBC] Québecoin - X11 - DGW - (BITTREX) - Win/Mac/Linux Wallets - New on: May 06, 2014, 06:33:47 PM

If im not mistaken, I think the premine is with the dev right? POW or POS, I'm sure we can all agree that the last thing we want in a revived coin is 50% of the coins in the hands of the guy who never showed up. "Deleting" those those coins is the fair thing to do. Also going completely POS is a bit unfair on the people who were mining it till now hoping for the prices to increase "someday" when the dev returns. Plus a date like 12th or 13th is far enough to effectively make the dev MIA for 10 days. I believe if someone is missing for 10 days, its saying something. If they do turn up on the last minute, I guess a damn good story is good enough.

I personally cannot think highly of someone who took money from people saying its for him to actively promote and develop the coin for the next one year, and then go missing a few days later after. If he's in a coma / paralyzed / dead, he cannot be a dev. If he's back when he's done being "busy", he's not good enough to be a dev.

As for misjudging the presence on the forum, I think he knew exactly how important it was. Otherwise you would see it as consistent in his behaviour.... ie the notiecable absence before and after launch. But we know that's not true. He knew that while raking in the money, he needed to be be active on the forums. He also knew being active after was equally important because the whole premise of asking for the money was to take the time off and remain active like like he is at the moment.

Probably true in regard to POW vs POS. I didn't consider it'd be unfair to those who have been mining. I'm not a miner, so my brain tends to prefer POS naturally.

I'd still give him the benefit of the doubt, as it is possible for family emergencies/things to happen in RL, where you can't be about much for a while. If you ask me if this is the case, I'd say probably not. But I wouldn't say it's an impossibility.

Anyway, we shall see. Worst case, several weeks from now, consider a community takeover. Syrup coin... the first crypto backed by the valuable commodity of... umm... syrup.

Shame polo was down and my btc deposit last night was stuck in transit so missed my chance to buy low when the dumpers exited..oh well at least coin gone up lol and glad we got a new merchant too..That's awesome!!! Grin Smiley

That's why it felt doubly orchestrated. I don't mean by Poloniex, just that whomever pushed the price down knew exactly when to do it. The current price appears to be the new floor, and it's pretty decent as floors go.
2332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QBC] Québecoin - X11 - DGW - (BITTREX) - Win/Mac/Linux Wallets - New on: May 06, 2014, 05:29:42 PM
Lets look at harder options people. Time is precious in crypto universe. Lets give JP a deadline... say till 12th May. If he's not back or is absconding, we yell "scam" in red for 10 mins and move on. If he was an honest guy who got hit by a truck - tough luck. We say a prayer for 10 mins and still move the fuck on. Here's what I propose:

-  community take over. Getting a solid team together, and rebranding.

- A hard fork similar to AsiaCoin where the premine is effectively unspeandable and the subsequent reduction in the total number of coins makes the coins more valuable. No 50% nonsense to Quebeckers and all that shit. Those days are over. You want it, you earn it.

- An openly announced instamine for a specified period (say 2 hours) or upto a certain block number just before launch. This would be the payment for the dev and his team, bounties for exchanges, quality pools, translators, wallet makers, cobblers, tailors, designers and all that rebranding stuff. The said people would complete the work in good faith that they would be paid after the instamine. I suggest paying them generously to get top quality work and a tip for working on trust. The compensation would of course be transparent.

Feel free to add on to the ideas as you see fit. I'm sure things will take form organically. I'm also pretty sure JP is reading this through a sockpuppet account  Cheesy

Way too early I think to be considering that sort of thing. A couple of weeks from now, maybe, if the dev just vanished completely.

If we are just thinking aloud, rebranding would be the first order of business. I would avoid any nation coin connotation or purpose, go POS, and simply giveaway the premine to everyone, ie community/itc/share coin style. Use part of the premine as a bounty for new wallets and coin changes. The current price is so low, it'd avoid the airdrop problem somewhat, as there isn't much point to selling at current prices, and Bittrex is pretty low volume anyway.

But that is just random thoughts on what I would do with an abandoned coin. And again, too early to really consider it. It's possible that the dev has just been really busy in RL, and misjudged how important it is to have a forum presence.
2333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / Crypto, Fiat, Bullion pairs / Multipool / Bounties on: May 06, 2014, 04:47:07 PM

Floor found and now trend reversal. Up we go.
People got tired of those sell walls used to price suppress and started buying them out.

Don't underestimate the XBC effect.

It was sort of scary watching the price last night. But everything felt orchestrated/controlled by one or more whales. People were commenting in the troll box how a whale was simply fooling people into selling low ... and it worked. I'm also not entirely sure what was up with the site, but it felt timed perfectly with the downtime for the site upgrade.

People will complain that the price is down from an all-time high, but no idea what people expect. Coins don't move up in a straight line. The floor moved up like 30% from the last pump, which is the important thing. Another pump, or even slow growth from here, means the next high should be... well, pretty decent.

There is still Cryptsy/Mintpal on the horizon as a goal, which tends to lead to upwards price movement... sometimes quite a bit. And that doesn't even count normal coin stuff, like getting merchants onboard.

MintPal voting should be a priority, unless there is already a tacit agreement with Cryptsy. Not sure if the wallet connection means they plan to take the coin as soon as the wallet is ready or not. And that website needs to be updated/spruced up a bit. It may not be the fanciest site, but I remember seeing the Blackcoin website before the coin went crazy, and thinking it was pretty amateur... evidently that mattered a lot less than I thought.
2334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][QBC] Québecoin - X11 - DGW - (BITTREX) - Win/Mac/Linux Wallets - New on: May 06, 2014, 04:36:43 PM

I`m doing my best here, i don`t have any good ideas on how to promote this coin, on how to make it grow a little. We are all waiting for good news from the dev. Maybe he has a good plan for this. Dev??

There are viable ways to promote the coin, but unfortunately most of them require the dev to be involved.

Giveaways, both locally and online, tend to be the first thing most coins do. Get cryptosandwich and bitbullions involved and give some coins away there. Offer some coins for signatures. I also don't know if it was a lie, or what happened, but didn't the dev say at some point people were contacting him for interviews or more info? That could of helped.

So the dev needs to do a marketing push, then get at least 1-2 other exchanges to take the coin. Forget Mintpal, that ain't happening. If Poloniex is out of the picture, the dev should pick 2 of the smaller, yet not completely dinky/amateur, exchanges.

Multipool would help. Android wallets would help a little, I guess (although not sure if it really matters at this point).

And finally the dev should lay out a timetable, get the premine locked down, and do all of that sort of stuff most coins do in the first week of release.
2335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / Crypto, Fiat, Bullion pairs / Multipool / Bounties on: May 06, 2014, 02:07:34 AM
XBC is going crazy on poloniex atm, massive dumping, the sooner we get on mintpal the better.

It's weird watching the prices on poloniex, especially if paired with reading the trollbox. We get people screaming to sell, all is over, the end is nigh ... until the price gets low enough for whales to buy all the cheap coins. Then the box turns quiet or pro-coin, as it slowly rises again to respectable levels. Repeat as needed.

I'll be curious how the coin does the next several days. If it's stable around where it is now, I view it as simply raising the floor, from around .007ish pre-pump, to .012-.015ish. And then it'll get interesting if another pump occurs.

There are still new wallets awaiting, and possibly MintPal and/or Cryptsy. Those would be the logical times for upwards price movement, at least at first.

I would like to mention that shipping a bunch of cans of maple syrup is a bit of a hassle. I have worked with people who run Kickstarters and the simple bonus stuff fulfillment phase is Hell and may require a part time worker and weeks of work. Though it is nice that in this case the bonus is not some crap made in China, it actually makes sense and it's a local product.

I think he stated he has 8 cans of syrup to mail out. I don't think it will require a part-time worker nor require weeks to mail them. Unless the syrup happened to be out of stock, I don't see really why it'd take this long.
2337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHARE]ShareCoin - Pure POS - MultiPool - FeeShare Pre-Sale opening TODAY on: May 05, 2014, 07:16:59 PM

Hopefully it does, it would be good for the buyer if he made a tidy profit. And yeah, with only 100 million coins it could easily hit 200-300 satoshis if it got popular.

Not sure if it even has to get that popular to be worth at least 200 sats. Information coin may be a good reference, at 70 M. It's been around 250-300 sats, reaching up to 700-800, and is undervalued in my opinion. Just using those values, Sharecoin would be at least 200+ sats, without a ton of interest or pumps.

500-1000 would be if it got popular or pumped.

more than that, $300,000 market cap gives over 500 sat price, pumps can get into the million plus range with enough interest even 2. 3000 is a good pump prospect to hope for, 500 sat is an easily achievable price

I agree, although 3000 may be a bit high. I'd say 1000ish may be a better pump target. The reason being, the free distribution. There are a lot of people willing to sell, so pumps may not go quite as high as they would with a regular coin. It'd require a lot of turnover, so at least for a while, I'd think around 1000 may be a more accurate pump max. Of course, after the coins get redistributed, who knows.

FairCoin, Coin2, Comm, ITC would be the coins to look at in regard to pricing. Although in some of those cases they had distribution issues or less than active devs.

Any word if sharecoin will be on any exchanges (besides the dev's upcoming exchange)? Bittrex, Poloniex? Usually those are the starter areas for new coins.

I wonder if the dev would mind if we contacted some of the smaller exchanges ourselves and see if they had any interest? I am thinking Austin Exchange, Atomic-Trade, Coined up, SwissCex and such.

I know he vetoed one exchange early on, so don't want to bother if he doesn't want that. Even if just 1-2 smaller exchanges take it on, it could help volume a tiny bit with arbitrage trades.... maybe.

I have 225 coins, so not very much... started with around 150 from the ipo, sold those for a crumbs level profit, used a portion of it on a lowball offer that I see was just filled on Bittrex.  It'd be nice if that lowball offer doesn't become the new floor.

I have a weird wallet issue. Downloaded the new one, it seems to sync and I got my free coins... thanks!

But I can't backup my wallet. I click it... nothing. Tried it several times, tried reloading the wallet, still nothing.

just save the wallet.dat file somewhere...

Thanks, I should have thought of that. It's still kind of weird though. I never ran across a wallet where backup was faulty before.
