2321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 14, 2022, 06:06:35 PM
Hot topics are still about the Lakers, Lebron, AD, and Russ.

1 more month to go and the new season starts. I honestly would like to see Russ traded so the Lakers will have a strong line-up with no excuses if they can't compete on top. But I agree with the odds, the Boston Celtics are the real favorites next season with even more additional acquisitions for this season. My main focus will be on the 76ers and T'wolves though. I am just super curious about how the new twin towers perform when the league is currently going smaller.

Any NBA ESPN or Yahoo Fantasy player here?

I agree with you that the Boston Celtics are the real favorite next season but I also have to say that if the players are in good form the Lakers can also be really deadly in every match. But for that King LeBron James and his teammates have to play really well. I think that if LeBron James can get enough support from his teammates, the Lakers will do really well this season. But also I am concerned that injurious might have a really bad effect on the Lakers as I think that their players are quite fragile compared to other teams.

Honestly, I don't think the Celtics will be a favorite, and it's unlikely they'll be able to reach the final series again. As for the Lakers, it's pretty hard to predict their results in the upcoming season because Westbrook is unpredictable, and Davis is unreliable due to injury prone. It seems to me the Lakers can only reach the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs. At least I wouldn't expect much more from them.

Too premature to say that the Lakers will be having that outcome or at least the same results they got last season, the season hasn't started yet and we might see some changes in their roster in the next few days.

Speaking of the upcoming new season, the Celtics won't be the favorite because they will be one of the few favorites to win in the Finals this time. Honestly, you're quite underestimating the Celtics because I don't think that there are some reasons that they cannot go that far this season as they are now much stronger because of the experience they acquired as well as the other young teams who made the conference finals.

It's good that after Pacquiao loses the fight, he realized what thing he needs to focus on and he did that, which is focusing on his election campaign.
He's doing a lot of things and he can't just do all of those at the same time. As said, I thought that he'll be having another match after the election that he's part of.

But, I'm not expecting him to be the same with his past matches, yes he aged but there's still the power and speed that he's got.

Still, not that the same anymore where most of us were amazed back then.

He tried to do what he had to do at the same time and he won at some point in time but later on Pacman realized that he is not getting any younger and should only pick one fight at a time that's why he retired after he lost to Ugas and focused on politics as he is also busy at that time for the presidential election.

Now, that he almost got all the time in the world, and just like what we've speculated, Pacman is not coming back but on an exhibition fight.
2323  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Dmitry Bivol vs Zurdo Ramirez on: September 14, 2022, 05:02:14 PM

What do you guys think about Ramirez claiming that this fight took so long to materialized because Bivol's camp is afraid with him.

Is it LOL or it makes sense? Might be true that there are hindrances but I think it's not about Bivol is afraid with him.

That's too much to think on their side. Smiley

We don't know that for sure because we haven't known some news in the light-heavy as we're fed up speculating about some other fights in lower weight classes. Maybe it's true or maybe not but that should not matter anymore as they are now scheduled for a fight this coming 5th of November and they are both of the same age, Zurdo should display what is he made of because we already know how strong Bivol is. This should be a good fight!

No way Bivol is scared of Ramirez. It is true that Ramirez's title shot at light heavyweight took so long but it is not Bivol nor Beterbiev's fault. Matchroom and Top Rank would've been happy matching their champions against the more popular Ramirez. It is more reasonable if Oscar Dela Hoya was trying to buy more time for Zurdo as WBO, IBF, WBC, and lineal champion Artur Beterbiev is getting older. IMO, Bivol was never the main target at light-heavyweight.

But somehow I'm glad the WBA was able to mandate this fight. Bivol-Ramirez is the more doable fight as both are with DAZN whereas Beterbiev is with ESPN.

Meanwhile, the Betebiev-Yarde fight in the UK was postponed after the champion was injured. The fight was expected to happen early next year. That sucks.

We cannot really know that for sure and also, I think that rumor was just a hoax but as I said, that shouldn't matter now because they will share a ring together soon and both of them should display what they are made of because the winner will face the 3-belt holder Beterbiev.

Yes, that is really unfortunate for Beterbiev but I don't know the nature of his injury as Top Rank hasn't disclosed any information regarding Beterbiev's injury. Too bad because I'm already looking forward that we could see an undisputed fight in LHW early next year.

important point in my opinion for beginners don't panic easily and buy bitcoin when the market is down.

I honestly don't think we should encourage the inexperienced to only buy when the market is on the downtrend as one can necessarily tell when it would always occur but rather buy when you got the money you can spare. Either buying at 60k or 20k, believe me, in the long run, there will be no such thing as regret.

Yes, that's nice! But before any of that accumulation process, the most important advice we should give to the beginners is to do some research first and let them know what they are trying to do because they can't be buying and buying bitcoins or other coins in the market even if they have some spare cash or buy when the market is down. They should know what to do too after that process and they cannot know any of that without first-hand knowledge.
2325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mine a Bitcoin or buy a bitcoin? on: September 14, 2022, 04:02:10 PM
These are, in my opinion, the two independent ways to obtain bitcoin. Depending on how you want to get it, you have two options. If I were to give advice, I would recommend to only buy if you have funds you are willing to risk or can afford to lose. If there is no money, mining will require patience. You can choose between buying or mining; both options are valid.
When you mine a bitcoin you will also agree about the risk because mining a bitcoin is not easy. It's either you can earn more or you can lose more money in the process but before we get there, you must also have a good capital since bitcoin mining hardwares are not cheap. This is not an example of investing what you can only afford to lose but buying directly a bitcoin is, because you can lower the quantity according to your own capacity.

If there is no money available then you can't do both mining and buying a btc but there are still many ways to acquire a bitcoin for free and the only capital that you will be needing is your time and skill.

Yup, there are some other ways where we can accumulate bitcoin without buying or buying it. Just like you said, it is free but you need to pour a lot of your time and skills to get that free bitcoin, one example of that is joining signature campaigns. But let's get back to the OP's questions, buying bitcoin or mining bitcoin? Well, it really depends on which field you are more knowledgeable because mining bitcoin is not an easy job to pull off, and the same with buying it, it also needs a lot of capital for it to be more profitable. So, it's really up to us which is more convinient.

2327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 13, 2022, 07:39:08 PM
A variable I've seen discussed here a few times is the AD situation.
Unfortunately he is in a delicate situation and has regrettably spent more time off the court due to his injuries than playing.

But anyway, I believe for the Lakers to be champions in this season, they need to evolve a lot, not specifically improve their roster (this is an important factor), but something more relevant, is the chemistry between the players, which I saw a few times in some games the Lakers played in the previous NBA season.
It's difficult to create strong chemistry if they keep on rotating new players on their roster. It cannot even be compared with the likes of GSW, Phoenix Suns, and Grizzlies. There's a savior though, Lebron James. He had been a leader for a long time and he knew how to create chemistry in a short span of time. I remember him creating events for the Lakers players a lot of times to strengthen that chemistry so it will just depend on them if they want to join.
AD and Lebron won't have a problem and they kept Austin Reaves which I think will be a lot of help to them.

Lakers need to retain what rooster they have if there current rooster are skilled ones its just they really need chemistry so that they can work all things out, but the problem with them maybe LBJ request to overhaul their team is they change their player to new once they get bad run in a season. And I think what LBJ did last time did not work since they end up on bad position last season. So maybe its best for them to have young potential talents and develop them since this could bring good future to LA rather than trying to create a super team surrounded  by ball dominant players since for sure they really get a problem again with that.

They already got a powerful roster last 2020 but after they won the Finals, the team decides to let go some of the players so that they can afford Westbrook in the process, and that's where they did some mistakes. Now, they cannot blame Westbrook alone just because he didn't meet the standard they expected from him but because they already have some good players and still decided to let them go. One examples for that is Alex Caruso.
2328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 12, 2022, 07:00:23 PM
No one really likes Yordenis Ugas, well I don't know why but there is not much fan base for him, while Keith Thurman pretty much has many people backing him up, for me, Thurman got a chance against Ugas, but yes this would surely go the distance both fighters doesn't have that power punch to TKO win an opponent, with Keith Thurman explosive shots and fast combination so the volume of punches will surely let him win, while Yordenis Ugas has a tendency to counter when he caught his opponent with his defense, but Ugas also is a volume puncher, but overall this is an exciting match to see,
I tried to look up the date on when this fight will happen, but it was just said as a potential fight in 2023. I am not sure if that is right.

Regarding popularity, Ugas did float his name wider when he fought with PacMan while Thurman on the other hand is already popular to everyone because of his knockout capability and only one loss that soiled his record.
The big question, is Thurman ready? Because a lot of discussions happened if he avoided the chance for Super World Welterweight match against Ugas because of weight issues. But he fought again in February which is a pretty good sign.
There is no scheduled fight between Keith Thurman and Yodenis Ugas yet, these discussions are just mere speculations that Keith might face Ugas next after he defeated Barrios last February in his comeback from being inactive for almost 3 years but yes, we may see this fight going to happen soon somewhere in the 1st quarter of 2023 if the organizers are feeling the hype between this two.

I haven't heard anything about that but we will see soon if their fight will happen because I am confident that an issue like that will surface again as we know fans loved to dig up some histories.

2330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Shakur Stevenson vs Robson Conceicao - Sept 23 on: September 12, 2022, 04:47:19 PM
As per Shakur, we might see him moving up to 135 lbs sooner than expected because he admitted that his body has difficulty making the 130 lbs limit.

Quote
“It all depends on the weight cut at the end of the day,” said Stevenson during an interview with Thaboxingvoice. “I done (did) amazing things at 130-pounds already. My last two fights to be specific, I done put on shows and I done did a lot at the weight, so if I struggle with the weight cut and it be hard on me, I think I’m going up to 135. Tell them boys get ready.”

https://www.boxingscene.com/shakur-stevenson-move-up-135-sooner-expected-tell-them-boys-get-ready--168907

And we all know that his target is Tank Davis. So if ever he wins and if he think that he is going to struggle to make the weight cut again, he will definitely go up. And then the 135 lbs will continue to be one of the most stock up weight classes.

I'm not sure what he is obsessed with Tank though, maybe it's there contrasting style and that he wanted to see how he will fare against a good power puncher and his defense trying to elude that one punch that will change the course of the fight.

And it's obvious that struggling to make weight, he should go to 135. But I'm not seeing him directly going up against the champion. Arum will have to set him up against perennial contender but not enough to pull an upset when he goes up.

It's his confidence I guess, Shakur is coming up in the last couple of years while Tank has established his name already. And Shakur beat 2 champions in Herring and Oscar Valdez and that is enough for him to boost his confidence and thinks that he can beat anyone including Davis. But negotiations might not be enough as Tank is on the side of Floyd and we all know that Arum and Floyd has a bitter divorce, so not sure if this fight can be made in the future. And I'm also not sure though if Davis has sign a new contract with Floyd's promotional company or not.

Not only that, but it's the only fight that make sense for him, as there will be money, huge money to be made by both fighters. So he is particularly zone in with Davis, and maybe just like what Ryan says, if the beat Davis, maybe they will get the respect that they needed. So all roads at 135 lbs money wise is Davis, but all the belts belong to Haney. So it's really up to him on which path he wanted, but it looks like Davis is his hit list for money and respect, it's just a matter on how he can demand Top Rank to give him that fight.

There are a lot of options for him to be honest, it's that his main goal is Davis.

He can wait for the Haney vs Kambosos fight or Loma. But he always insists on fight Davis right away when he moves up. Good test for him maybe the likes of Isaac Cruz or Rolly Romero to do if his defense will be effective to this big puncher at 135 lbs otherwise he might face a big knock out loss in the hands of Davis. Definitely there is money, but it might hurt him a bit at this new weight if he goes right away on Tank.

It's not very clever if he rushes things just to get his much-awaited fight against Gervonta Davis, seriously that could wait. If he won't hold his horses then it's safe to assume that he is bound to get his first defeat if he goes straight to Davis when he starts to climb in the lightweight division.

Yes, fighting Davis is indeed money that's why there have been a lot of boxers who wanted to fight him because of that fact but career-wise, Shakur should test the water first for his debut and it's much clever if he goes for Ryan Garcia first because that will surely hype his name if he can successfully defeat Garcia.
2331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 12, 2022, 04:03:43 PM
I just read an article that said the Lakers are considering trading Anthony Davis for Damian Lillard.  I'm pretty sure these reporters are just making things up for clicks now, as I don't see either team wanting to make that trade.  The idea of LeBron and Dame on the same team is pretty exciting though.  I put a 1% chance on that happening, but it's still fun to think about.  They're both killers on the court and I imagine would make one hell of a playoff run no matter who else is around them.

The Lakers just signed Beverley, and they still haven't gotten rid of Westbrook. So I also think this rumor about the Davis-to-Lillard trade sounds unrealistic at the moment. Besides, I doubt that the Blazers' management has any plans to trade Dame. As for Davis, I guess the Lakers management will seriously consider trading him if he misses more than half of the upcoming season again due to injuries.

Getting rid of Davis is not on the Laker's radar for now because as of this moment they are prioritizing Westbrook on a trade to avoid paying his high salary in fear of getting minimum production from him, they just wanted to get rid of him asap while getting a valuable player in exchange. Also, I seriously don't think that the Blazers will trade Lillard for Davis, that's just not true.
2332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your plan with Bitcoin? on: September 12, 2022, 11:36:29 AM
Mostly holding and buying more while selling to buyback.

Things are not so cool in many countries such that they are going to allow bitcoin transactions easily. Hence for many users of this forum coming from such countries, they can only hold. Of course this leads to the habit of spending on bitcoin based casinos, but if that is kept on hold, I think a person can accumulate a good number of coins during a few years during every crash.

Hoping to see merchants accepting crypto because that would be the next big thing here.

That can be still viewed as a good thing while hodling bitcoins while those specific countries are not open to allowing the hodlers to do simple bitcoin transactions yet, just keep them and refrain from spending them in casinos that accept cryptocurrencies but if such actions can't be avoided then it's much better to convert them first into some other altcoins that aren't so volatile, unlike bitcoin to avoid losses in the future.
Just be optimistic mate because sooner or later, your country will be more open and starts accepting bitcoin transactions. Just hod it for now! Wink
2333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Describe what Bitcoin has done for you on: September 12, 2022, 11:15:53 AM
I'd say Bitcoin has completely changed my life ever since I've discovered it in late 2014. Not only I became a privacy-aware person, but I also learned how to better manage my finances. Because I've joined a signature campaign, I became motivated to browse through the forums and learn all about crypto/Blockchain tech. If it wasn't because of Bitcoin, I wouldn't been as financially independent as I am now.

Back then, I was frustrated with banks' hidden fees and the time it took to transfer money across borders. With Bitcoin, I no longer had that issue since I was able to send money at a cheaper cost within minutes (instead of days). Kudos to Satoshi for making sound money that enables people to be their own bank. Who knows if someday Bitcoin replaces Fiat in its entirety? Smiley

Could be mate, but as of now, bitcoin has a long way to go before we can even say that it's already close to replacing fiats, entirely! The good thing is that it's already in the process to be in that kind of state soon and bitcoin has already been with us for more than a decade now, so it's still quite early but let's be optimistic that sooner or later, bitcoin will be used more globally.

And as for the question of OP, bitcoin has been a big help not just for me but to my family as well in terms of finances, securing money to avoid inflation, and lastly, making my transactions faster, more secure, and much cheaper. I'm honored that I became aware of bitcoin's existence since it was introduced to me way back in the year 2016.

By Brian Webber: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says he’s already spoken to Devin Haney and his father Bill Haney about fighting Vasyl Lomachenko next. The Haney’s are agreeable to taking on Lomachenko as long as they get past their next opponents.

Source: https://www.boxingnews24.com/2022/09/devin-haney-agreeable-to-fighting-vasyl-lomachenko-says-bob-arum/

Great news, now, is the camp of Lomachenko willing to take the challenge? It's going to be a big fight this year for sure, I think selling this fight would not be hard and it's going to be 50-50 or 60-40 in our favorite bookies. Anyway, without minding the betting odds, I think this fight is worth to wait for.

Yes, that's really something that the boxing fans would love to see, I'm sure that kind of fight will bring a huge hype with all the fan all over the globe, Loma and Haney is something that would magnetized the crowd, the way they fought and the entertaining value of these two great fighters, they are going to create a huge noise once they've been able to win both their upcoming fights.

Right now, the news will somehow great an early hype for the possibilities of seeing them inside the ring.

They said that Haney is a boring fight, well, I would say he would not be able to play safe against a technical Loma, because if he has speed, Loma has quickness as well and not only that, he is also very precise in throwing his punches. I'm sure everyone here can't wait to see this fight so we will know the winner, and if it's Loma, there's a chance that they will fight early next year if Haney will beat Kambosos again.
2335  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Naoya Inoue vs Paul Butler - Undisputed Bantamweight Bout - December 13 on: September 11, 2022, 11:48:20 AM
I have a feeling that he could come close to Pacman in terms of achievement.

close but not so close, the good thing with Pacman is he does not stop in one division for too long, he keeps moving so as a result, he won multiple belts and has become an 8th division world champion. I don't know how many division champion Inoue is now, but for sure not close with Pacman.

He is currently a three-division world champion, you can read it in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naoya_Inoue....

So there's still more fights that he has to win to close to Pacman's achievement, which I don't think he would even get 7.
There's also a rumor that he will break Pacman's achievement, but I think it's just the fans trying to hype him up more.

Also, in the pound for pound ranking of ring magazine, he is currently sitting at the number 2 spot.

NLEX wasn't really a popular team. It's always the TNT or Meralco which usually goes to the finals, so they don't need a good coach I believe. Well, coach Yeng was good but I think he was not given everything he needs, the reason why his team was underperforming.

Actually, NLEX has a big chance making it to the Finals last season in the Governors Cup because of their import KJ McDaniels. As mentioned by other user here previously, KJ McDaniels were unable to finish his playing career in NLEX because of the delays that surely affected his own timeline to follow. He is averaging a monster stats on that conference and a top candidate as a Best Import if only he able to finished his tenure.

Aside from that, NLEX finished 2nd on that conference and still secures the twice-to-beat advantages in the playoffs even the team faced several problems like, best cager Jericho Cruz rejects the NLEX offer and choose to signed with SMB, Kiefer Ravena leaving the team for his Japan stint, Calvin Oftana's season ending injury and lastly, KJ McDaniels decision t return home.

KJ McDaniels leaving the team was the huge factor for the team to struggle. They have built a chemistry and we can really tell how dominant KJ McDaniels is as an import, saw him before in other team, and he played better with NLEX, it's just unfortunate, they could have a chance to reach the NBA Finals as I think Fajardo that time was still injured or not 100%.
2337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: September 10, 2022, 06:54:18 PM
It's the 3rd fight, so if there's another fight, it will be the 4th. If that will happen, then it's okay because these two are great fighters and they can give real entertainment unlike other chances who are boring to watch as they just want to score and run, this one they do a toe to toe fight, that's why the fans are asking for this fight.

If Golovkin wins this fight, then he may decide to retire. Even if he decides otherwise, I don't think that he will agree to another fight with Canelo. He has repeatedly claimed that he was robbed of wins not once, but twice. So why should he give an opportunity to Canelo, to get even? But then, there will be a lot of ifs and buts. Given the asymmetrical betting odds, no one in their right mind would think that Golovkin is a favorite to win this match. As I mentioned earlier, I have placed a small bet in favor of GGG. But even then, I am not being much optimistic.

That's another option, but if you will ask me, why would he retire if he can still make more money fighting Canelo again?

Here's what I'm thinking that could happen, If GGG cares more about his legacy, then retirement is the best option, but if he cares more about making more money before retirement, then he will continue to fight, whether it's Canelo or another fighter.

GGG will receive all the praise if he can beat Canelo because it's his biggest rival and people think Canelo is better than him, and the fact that he is a heavy underdog now compared to the last two fights, he will get a sweeter victory here. Both will have their own legacy, but GGG retiring after beating Canelo, that's a big statement.

We never know, right? Golovkin might retire right after he upsets Canelo in this upcoming trilogy, I mean what more he could ask? He already settled his score to his rival, Canelo, and for the latter's side, that is very heartbreaking because getting defeated twice in a row in one year will definitely lower his value, especially after the fact that he got defeated by a boxer who is near his retirement.

That is really possible to happen because we know Golovkin is not much the type who follows money before fame and for Golovkin, legacy is his priority.

that 1 inch advantage is nothing if we will compare to what are the advantages of Inoue against Butler .

from the stamina and experiences ? and from whom He defeated ? I'm sure that inch means nothing to this Monster from japan , he is not afraid of anyone and he had proven that from defeating one of the toughest in that division Nonito Donaire so there is no one can hinder Him from taking another momentum .
In general height is nothing in boxing, since this is a professional fight and have certain weight division, of course the height difference wouldn't really big. I'd say reach is an advantage since boxer with longer hand will easier to hit his opponent than the boxer with short hand. But no all short hand boxer is weak or can't compete with a boxer with long hand, Lomachenko already prove this.

Yep, I think Inoue would been underestimate Butler until the fight happen, even Inoue isn't serious to train his body, I still think Butler has no chance to beat Inoue.

I think I'll disagree, height is surely an advantage because the smaller boxer will have some difficulty in finding that opening to cut the jaw in order to KO the taller boxer, and those punches will be much elevated just to reach that head or jaw. But even those advantages won't mean that much if the opponent has a good IQ in the ring like Loma for instance.

Quote

I'm starting to think mate that you're the one who underestimates Inoue Huh because almost all the boxing fans know that he doesn't have that kind of attitude and he is much more disciplined when it comes to body conditioning and trainings.

So it's bad to stay in a weight division wherein you can't really make weight, another example is Casimero. he wanted to fight Inoue so he stayed in that division and in the first scheduled fight against Butler, he fell ill. And in the second one, he was caught with the Sauna thingy.

He was already struggling to keep the required weight, it's just too bad for Casimero as he was caught cheating, he could have just move up and be the number 1 contender to fight the champion. For Ancajas here, there's still one more chance for him to avenge his loss, if he wins here, people will stop doubting him, if he losses, then no choice for him but to move up.

Speaking of Casimero, I wonder what is he up to now because he should at least make some statement that he will climb through the next weight class because it was already clear that bantamweight is not for him anymore and fight this year too because he was already 1 year inactive last August. Anyway back to this fight, I think it's time for Ancajas to move too if he is truly struggling to make the required weight in this division but for now, he should try and settle his score first against Martinez before deciding what he should do next.

The money is flowing into exhibition matches because there are famous names getting involved in those matches.
They are creating a good hype for those matches and hence the tickets are being sold anything.
For example: Logan Paul vs Mayweather match was really hyped and gained a lot of attention.
For old boxers, of course, titles are no longer the main focus for them, they will offer to compete in exhibition boxing fights if the pay is worth it, as in the fight between Mayweather Vs Logan Paul which is quite sensational and strange because in terms of achievements, it is clear that the fight was not worth it, but because Paul Logan has a lot of money and his influence as a YouTuber will certainly be an attraction for the audience to watch the fight, so that Mayweather does not hesitate to accept the challenge and earn quite a lot of money eve though their boxing win record is very much different, namely Mayweather 50 wins while Paul Logan 0 wins.

That fight between Logan Paul and Mayweather is literally a straight pot of honey especially for the latter because Logan Paul is a perfect opponent in an exhibition fight, not because he has some talents in boxing and can fairly challenge Mayweather but because Logan Paul has a vast loyal fan base that will really support him whatever he does.

And for Mayweather, knowing that fact alone is already enough for him because he is already assured that their fight will bring them big revenue, and yes it happened.
