so assuming it went to 18k

a node costs 1.8btc payout 250 coins that 0.04btc currently its cost 0.17btc so i think its an amazing investment. can see this rising

It doesn't matter if one DNET is worth 100 sats or 18k. Regardless of the price masternodes are very profitable because they earn their investment back in 44 days.

Unless of course people succeed to reduce the supply. In that case masternodes wouldn't be near that profitable anymore which means people would not start new masternodes causing worse decentralization/distribution and eventual price decline.

But if the masternode reward won't be cut then their profitability will cause people to buy into the coin to run their own masternodes increasing the price naturally while also helping distribution and decentralization.
2343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymous coins in the coinmarketcap top 10 are getting pumped now - price & vol on: March 04, 2016, 05:16:01 AM
With regards to Dash it would be interesting to see how much of the recent buy-up of coins is used
to setup more masternodes, thereby strengthening their already strong number of active incentivized full
nodes...

ROI of a masternode on annual base : 12-15 %
collateral to keep it regnoniced and running as a masternode : 1000 Dash
current number of masternodes : 3524
ATH of active masternodes : 3582

12-15% per annum in crypto is just awful. There are so many ways to reach ROI within a year.
2344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DARKNET [DNET] QRK ALGO - PoW/PoS on: March 04, 2016, 05:08:28 AM
I'm sorry but cutting PoW rewards from 250 to 50 and masternode rewards to 10 all of a sudden is simply retarded.

People invested in this coin based on the specs that were given at the time. You can't just push significant changes like that driven by greed while ignoring investors and causing poor distribution in the process.

As great this little community started it's not blinded by greed and stupidity.

On another note, do yourselves a favor and ignore equinoxdev.
2345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymous coins in the coinmarketcap top 10 are getting pumped now - price & vol on: March 04, 2016, 03:18:46 AM
DASH - 77% volume on Poloniex
XMR - 92% volume on Poloniex
BTS - 47% volume on Poloniex

How anonymous those coins really are when people are trading them on an exchange that requires your name, address and ID to do so, and its existence solely depends on the US government?
Not to mention the centralization involved.

Is there a masternode calculator to estimate earnings?

Number of your masternodes / masternode count * 1440 * 50

Current masternode count is 308. That's 233 coins per day per masternode. ROI is 43 days.
2349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is great, but not money, which is why Poloniex has an XMR market. on: March 03, 2016, 04:19:18 AM
I'm not a huge fan of Eth. I admit its potential and I invested in it but I certainly don't praise it, I just think Monero is snakeoil in its current state.
2350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is great, but not money, which is why Poloniex has an XMR market. on: March 03, 2016, 03:46:02 AM

Do you realize how silly you look pushing Monero because of its privacy while you're trading it on an exchange that requires your ID to do so because said exchange bent over to the US government?

An appeal to a different argument.  Yes, a decentralized crypto-exchange needs to be invented, I agree.  This world is wide open for such a thing.  In the meantime Poloniex works well, and I feel good that they comply with US law - I would worry about them getting shut down if they did not.

If your argument is with US law, then that is another argument too: even in the 'land of the free' people have to fear their government spying on them... don't you realize there will always be powerful people who want to take away your privacy?  That's why privacy must be baked into an irreversible protocol layer, not an optional add-on feature that can be snatched away at a whim.

With privacy comes fungibility and the true moniker of 'money'.  Privacy is not an add-on feature that can be tacked on, nor ignored.  It is a fundamental quality of the best forms of money ans it has nothing to do with breaking the law or doing anything criminal.

Privacy is important, no doubt about that and it's sad that so many people don't care about it.
But privacy is non-existent when the exchange of coins happens on a centralized platform which is under the control of another centralized entity that is the US government that has detailed info about you. And they could shatter the exchange anytime they wanted but that's another topic.

Pseudoanonimity like Bitcoin or any other coin has, combined with either a decentralized exchange or multiple traditional exchanges (with even volume) that doesn't depend on a single centralized entity is not even comparable privacy-wise to a coin with privacy while 88% of said coin's volume is traded on one centralized exchange by people whose names and IDs are shared with the US government.
2351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH ... I see a problem on: March 03, 2016, 02:28:01 AM
I just wanted to say, in case someone else said it already, there is a problem.

While bitcoin stays steady or on a small uptrend, nothing bitcoinish adds up to the eth rise in value.

For example, when litecoin got pumped, altcoins went in the red, almost all of them. People were selling altcoins for bitcoin to buy litecoin.
Easy right Huh

Well here it is , where are the bitcoins coming from to buy eth. I do not see any particular coins suffering from a day traders moves.

It leads to believe that this eth coin thing is the biggest and baddest and worst of all insider bitcoin whale holding disaster of all time.

If you thought you had seen worse before, you might have been wrong.

Enlighten me if you can

There's no cap on the amount of money that's being pushed around between various currencies in crypto. Eth brought quite a lot of new money into crypto.

Coin Supply During PoW Phase: 64,800,000
PoW Phase: [0000002-0259200] Approx. 180 DAYS

Am I missing something or there will be >50 million coins mined in the next 5 months?
Right, that's why we are suggesting to decrease supply.
Can anyone make proposal in blockchain?

+1 vote!

+1

A reducing of total coins would be nice.

Because there wont be so much mining dumper.

Seriously, the greedy-miners stereotype is getting old; stakers, masternode owners, ICO participants, etc are just as greedy as miners.

In fact, the suggestion of reducing the total coins is nothing but an effort to pump the price so people can dump while probably crippling if not killing the coin in the process. I'm heavily invested in this coin, I have over 25 masternodes but I'll be voting no.
2354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is great, but not money, which is why Poloniex has an XMR market. on: March 03, 2016, 01:50:43 AM

No, that's not my world. I live in this world and this doesn't happen. I run a business and no one knows my numbers, BUT if they really need to know them because authorities are after me or I've been scamming people, dealing arms and selling child pornography, they sure can and that's perfectly fine.

Privacy is a complete illusion if you think about it and Monero is build on dubious ethics if the main feature is hiding your transactions and information, great way to avoid taxes and do money laudering. No one care about "privacy" because it's meaningless in a world where you are filmed 24/7 whetever your go, go ask Snowden, people don't give a shit.

Please post pdf files of your last three monthly bank statements.  Include your personal account and your business account.

The truth of a public Blockchain (like Ethereum's) is that everybody can see all your data, transactions, and balances.... Not just these omnipotent 'authorities' you are so eager to submit yourself to.

Do you realize how silly you look pushing Monero because of its privacy while you're trading it on an exchange that requires your ID to do so because said exchange bent over to the US government?

Bitcoin is Coca-Cola.  Litecoin is Pepsi, Doge is RC.  The rest of the altcoins are the shitty store brands that don't taste right or home brew cila with lint and bug parts in it.  How's that for a nutshell comparison?

Please. If BTC is Coca-Cola then Litecoin is bottled muddy water at best.

Both Lite and Doge are a joke for today's standards as they doesn't offer anything extra at all. I think they should have been dead a long time ago.

Monero is more like bacon flavoured soda; very few people like it and the ones who do can't shut up about it making it that much more unattractive for everyone else.
The altcoin scene is like a bunch of Coke-bottle glasses nerds trying to dickslap each other whilst the real players make off with the china and silverware.  Litecoin may be what you said, but at least its been around a few years and has a few inches to slap around.  Ethereum and these other ones are limpid worms that you boys should just put away.  And how about Dash?  These coins I mentioned have such faster confirmation times that bitcoin it's unbelievable.

Following your analogy, a few limp inches at best. Litecoin is more like the 70+ year-old dude in the gym changing room with his balls hanging lower than his actual dick.

I'm not a huge fan of Ethereum but it achieved more in a few months than Litecoin ever did.

You do realize you ended your post with a dick measuring contest right? I mean if only looking at confirmation times is not a silly dick measuring contest then I don't know what is.

I'm using the spreadsheet and it's really anoying to update it.
I can say I have a 1 month lag...  Cheesy
I'm a completely noob on coding but I'm trying to learn.

Some q:
Where do you store the data picked from APIs? in spreadsheets? sql?
Do you have a server getting data 24/7? or you just get data once you give that order?
What do you use as frontend? spreadsheet?

Thanks!!
 Smiley

I don't store historical data. It just compares the balances of the selected coins either by reading the balance of an address from a block explorer API or with a quantity I manually enter. And it also reads the prices from APIs.

It refreshes the data every few seconds so it's not taxing on the API server and I get fresh information.

It tracks the changes compared to the last time the program was launched. The amounts/addresses and other data I enter is written to, and loaded from a simple .ini file which is really easy to use so I don't have to keep entering the same stuff. And I'm not really interested in long term historical data so there's no need for a database.

I can barely code so it's pretty much just a duct taped solution but I have yet to see a better solution and CBA to learn code better.

I also have another software that keeps track of masternodes; how long since the last payment, how many payments were made in the last X period, prjoected earning, etc. This is so masternodes that stopped for some reason are easily identified.

I swear Monero supporters are like Jehovah's witnesses. We all know about XMR at this point, it's been explained to us about a 100 times. Chances are, the 101th time isn't going to change our minds.

You're calling someone else a shill?

I guess it takes one to know one.
