2361  Other / Off-topic / Re: The no ad-sigs posters allowed topic - come and not be annoyed by rubbish posts on: February 16, 2015, 05:12:50 PM
Some people just don't seem to understand the difference between having a "sig" (which might have a link to a topic or a Bitcoin address or GPG key) and an ad-sig but I think most of us who are sick of the pointless posts *all see this*.
2362  Other / Off-topic / Re: The no ad-sigs posters allowed topic - come and not be annoyed by rubbish posts on: February 16, 2015, 05:08:25 PM
We have seen some interesting stuff already with coloured coins in regards to Counterparty and Mastercoin.

From the perspective of "smart contracts" the main issue I think is just going to be one of performance (i.e. confirmation times).
2363  Other / Off-topic / Re: The no ad-sigs posters allowed topic - come and not be annoyed by rubbish posts on: February 16, 2015, 05:04:10 PM
Again the rules are clear (yes I expected ad-sig posters to try and defend themselves) - so ad-sig posters just post everywhere else (I think you can restrain yourselves not to post in one topic or can't you?).

And no - my sig is not part of any ad-sig sponsor campaign (obviously as no-one else has it in their sig and the only links are to GPG and a Bitcoin address).
2364  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Lottery -Teenage developer/co founder? on: February 16, 2015, 05:01:55 PM
You might be interested to know that a decentralised blockchain Lottery already exists (using Automated Transactions or AT which you can read about here: http://ciyam.org/at).

Although AT is not yet on any Bitcoin clone yet (it is live on Burst though already) a bounty has been put up for that (of 20 BTC) and a suggested way that this could be achieved (requiring just one new op-code for Bitcoin Script) has been outlined.

Vrontis and CIYAM Developers can answer your question about the timeplan

Please get the name right (it is only 5 letters).

To make it easier to remember (and what is actually is an acronym for):

CIYAM
Is
You
And
Me

Whilst I think your method is probably now advised I do find it disappointing that the forum forces people who are actually of benefit (by posting very useful advice such as yourself) to have to spend much of their time clicking Ignore simply because the forum seems to think it is fine to just pile everything in a bunch of shit posts so some people can earn (very small amounts of) money from that.

I had tried other ways to "protest" about this before and each has been of no use - so having a "no ad-sig allowed" topic is perhaps my "last attempt" at trying to raise this issue.
2367  Other / Off-topic / Re: The no ad-sigs posters allowed topic - come and not be annoyed but rubbish posts on: February 16, 2015, 04:36:42 PM
Haven't heard anything on Ethereum from a while. Thought they ran off with our bitcoin and retired in Hawaii.

I did find one link about their "exchange application" (http://www.meetup.com/Ethereum-Denver/events/193412162/) but from what I can gather it really is nothing different to what Counterparty or Mastercoin already have (maybe I missed something though).

Also I just noticed that is an old posting (July 2014) so perhaps nothing at all new has happened with that.
2368  Other / Off-topic / Re: The no ad-sigs posters allowed topic - come and not be annoyed by rubbish posts on: February 16, 2015, 04:25:02 PM
The lack of posting is telling in itself (it would be interesting to actually see the stats about just how many forum posts are from posters with ad-sigs).

I wonder if any of the admins are able to come up with a reasonable guesstimate?
2369  Other / Off-topic / Re: The no ad-sigs posters allowed topic - come and not be annoyed but rubbish posts on: February 16, 2015, 03:20:00 PM
Some interesting discussion might be about the fact that Bitcoin 0.10.0 has been released (with a lot of great new features from what I have read).

Also apparently Ethereum have announced a decentralised exchange (have only seen a youtube link about that so far so if there is a non-video link that would be of interest to me as youtube is problematic when you live in China).
2370  Other / Off-topic / The no ad-sigs posters allowed topic - come and not be annoyed by rubbish posts on: February 16, 2015, 03:17:13 PM
I am getting so sick of seeing pointless, rubbish ad-sig posts in every single topic on this forum that I have started this topic just to allow others that have something that might be of any actual interest to others to post in.

Rules are:

1. If you have an ad-sig then I will delete your post no matter how "relevant" you think it is (go and post somewhere else - you have plenty of places to do that and I am sick of you guys trying to "defend yourselves").

2. If you post crap or abuse I'll delete that too.

Let's see if it is possible to actually have some enlightened posts on this forum again.
2371  Economy / Services / Re: Wanted: Reliable VPS hosting for BTC that allows for user-provided VM image on: February 16, 2015, 03:04:46 PM
Unfortunately a dedicated server (generally around 100 USD per month) is a bit out of my price range so a VPS that is on hardware not being ridiculously shared should be fine (and in fact I am not even sure if you can actually *verify* that a dedicated server even is just that so I'd rather not be paying for something that I don't even actually get).
2372  Economy / Services / Re: Wanted: Reliable VPS hosting for BTC that allows for user-provided VM image on: February 16, 2015, 02:20:07 PM
I need 24x7 support so no "one-man show" is acceptable.

VPS must have 2 GB of RAM and be able to handle heavy duty tasks like C++ compilation (data storage doesn't need to be huge but should be easily enough for it to run bitcoind).
2373  Economy / Services / Wanted: Reliable VPS hosting for BTC that allows for user-provided VM image on: February 16, 2015, 02:15:41 PM
Unfortunately the VPS provider that CIYAM has been using seems to be no longer capable of providing a reliable service (it goes offline now every other day for hours with seemingly no amount of "fixes" making it actually better).

So I have decided ciyam.org needs to be moved to a service provider that actually can provide a reliable VPS which can work with my own VM image (a 64-bit SUSE distro) which will need to be migrated from the existing service provider.

I am willing to pay up to 50 USD per month for this service (for which I expect very decent performance,  bandwidth and storage) and the provider must be able to list "well-known" websites that are their clients (which I will check - so if you are a "one-man show" please don't waste my time).
2374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding the Automated Transaction system (AT) on: February 16, 2015, 02:01:38 PM
The metadata for new ATs will be stored in the AT creation txs themselves so your client will automatically how to generate the UI for those ATs as soon as it first seems them.
2375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding the Automated Transaction system (AT) on: February 16, 2015, 10:59:06 AM
I am not sure exactly how @burstcoin wants to present the ATs (and some ability to search them is going to be essential as it could be expected that their number could grow rapidly) but most importantly you won't need to have to download separate UI files.
2376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Expert Input Only: How Is A Cold Wallet Bter Exchange Hack Possible? on: February 16, 2015, 09:42:23 AM
It seems very unlikely to me that this could be anything other than an inside job.

You'd think an exchange holding 7K BTC would actually have bothered to work out how to properly secure them (and should know what a "cold wallet" is).
2377  Other / Meta / Re: can someone explain me this? on: February 15, 2015, 07:10:16 PM
A mod and an admin responded already, could you sig spammers stop posting worthless replies please? You guys are ruining the forum.

I and many other long standing members of this forum have tried (in vain) to stop the forum becoming a place where idiots post rubbish for payment.

But apparently the forum has decided that idiots posting rubbish for payment is fine (and in fact they can create as many accounts as they like to try and increase their payment of rubbish posts).

Perhaps the rationale is some sort of idea of "freedom of speech" but if freedom of speech means that you have 1000's of people "shouting nonsense" then I don't really see the benefit (as I would prefer a quiet bar to a noisy nightclub but perhaps that is just me).

And the excuse that "it's too hard to moderate" is just plain crap - I had reported every useless post with a sig for a month and it resulted in my reporting accuracy being brought done to a low % (despite my reports only being for pointless posts such as +1 which I thought was supposed to be banned anyway).

Thinking about that - when exactly did the mods decide that +1 posts are now okay (they are appearing everywhere now yet I do recall they were *banned* more than a year ago)?

(mostly they appear to come from relatively new accounts with ad sigs and they are generally not being deleted but perhaps people are not reporting them now because of their accuracy % being reduced for reporting as happened to me)
2378  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CIYAM - Project Plan Outline on: February 15, 2015, 06:07:22 PM
Is Ciyam looking for a new designer?

Yes but at this stage there is no budget for that (perhaps check again in a few months).
2379  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CIYAM - Project Plan Outline on: February 15, 2015, 05:24:59 PM
Will try!

If you are keen to play then I will help you to create your first app (you can PM me for Skype contact if you like).

If you are not familiar with VMs then you might find the VMPlayer from SUSE to be a helpful tool (but we haven't created instructions for using that yet sorry) - I myself use libvirt (and I use it with only a console) so I might not be the best to help when using GUI VM managers (@vbcs has more experience with that).
2380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.2 Automated Transactions on: February 15, 2015, 05:12:39 PM
Just as a heads up (to make sure people don't "waste their BURST on buying a ticket when there is little chance") you should check the "winning ticket" number (if it is close to that of the winner of the first round then you have very little chance of winning).

Personally I don't gamble (and wasn't so keen to actually even create the Lottery use case) but I decided that as the Lottery doesn't take any commission and charges hardly any fees (15 BURST from memory) then arguably it is about the fairest lottery in existence (especially as you can see from the value of the current winning ticket what your chances are).

I seriously doubt that any state run lottery in the world is as open and efficient as LuckyAT is (as it doesn't require TV presenters or publishing in any traditional media nor any fancy machine with numbered balls).
