And we're back! Sorry about that downtime :/

Or we can just leave it and wait, right? Our funds are safe, are they not?

They are! I just didn't want anyone to worry. Enjoy

About to bring up the web server in the next 10 minutes, so people can deposit/withdraw while I finish off the migration
2383  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com -- The Social Gambling Game on: March 06, 2015, 09:03:48 PM
Money Pot is down for some unexpected maintenance. We we having some lag and database performance issues, as well as needing to migrate physical machines (for a Xen security update).  We should be back in a couple of hours. =)
2384  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Paypal chargeback, for the third time on: March 06, 2015, 05:44:34 PM
If I recall correctly, Candy was on MP chat talking about paypal flagging his account and reversing a lot of transactions against his will. While I have no insight into what exactly went down, I have heard of this happening to paypal<->bitcoin dealers, who I very much trust. If you haven't already I'd make sure to get in contact with Candy, it's possible you weren't scammed
2385  Economy / Gambling / Re: Wallet of dice sites or any casinos!! on: March 04, 2015, 03:30:00 AM
It depends greatly on the casino, with Money Pot for instance I try keep between 15 and 30 BTC in the hot wallet at all times. Withdrawals deduct from the hot wallet, deposits increase it. When I notice the hot wallet getting low, I typically will do a quick sanity check that everything looks fine and deposit money from a warm wallet  (which normally contains 0 to 50 BTC), or if required from cold storage (which contains the rest). If the hot wallet gets too big, I will spill it into the warm wallet or cold storage.

I don't know what you mean by "many" but I can say this is the only site I've ever seen that was trying to use this novelty unit.  In this world of altcoins and distractions I think it's really embarrassing and distracting to have a weird term for BTC on your website and not just call it BTC like the rest of the world.

Sites like bitpay are starting to default to it. Blockchain and coinbase support it, a few other gambling sites use it as their default now too.

Judging by the 18 posts on the thread that you've made about the unit, I understand you feel strongly about where the decimal place should go, and it's something in the future I would like to add a preference for. However, at the moment it's not a huge priority, as most people seem to either actively like it, or not mind it. Granted, there may be some selection bias there =)
2387  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Gap limit setting missing in 1.9? on: March 03, 2015, 06:52:23 PM
Code:
wallet.storage.put( 'gap_limit', 100)

This still works for electrum 2.0, if anyone's wondering. It'd be nice to have this exposed in the GUI though

Having a look at the leaderboard, what causes some of the big sites to have such strange wagered amounts? (e.g. https://thebitcoinstrip.com/dicecoin-stats.html and https://thebitcoinstrip.com/fortunejack-stats.html ) with some spikes 1000x the norm, and other days with negative amounts wagered.
2389  Economy / Gambling / Re: How to calculate dice investing profit? on: March 03, 2015, 02:38:23 AM
Expected earnings are easy:
Code:
bankrollStake * houseEdge * amountWagered * 0.9

your bankrollStake is determined by how much you deposit, at what leverage you do so, and how much other people have invested. Note, your bankrollStake is a constantly changing number, as is the amount wagered.

JD also gives investors staking rewards (or rather 90% of them), but it's probably best to ignore this.

it would be better if moneypot receive some kind of coin as doge , Ltc

I don't personally use it, but I've heard good things about https://shapeshift.io/ being used for this. You can enter your money pot deposit address, generate a doge/ltc address and transfer funds easily =)
2391  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com -- The Social Gambling Game on: March 02, 2015, 04:16:54 AM
Regarding the above, there's no static "best" place to cash out. The game is intentionally dynamic in the sense the best course of action heavily depends on what other people do. The idea is simple though: The earlier you cash out, the less the house edge (going so low as 0%) but also the more vulnerable you are to someone else getting your bonuses.

If your goal is to play profitably, you should be trying to make sure you are grabbing enough bonuses to cover the house edge, and to do this there is no static way to play, it all depends on how other people are playing

Thanks people. It's great to hear so many positive experiences, and also seeing us climb to  in the bitcoin strip's leaderboard to the 2nd most wagered at site for the week!
2393  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com -- The Social Gambling Game on: February 26, 2015, 02:16:10 AM
Max bet is 1BTC I think and the max payout fluctuates based on the house bankroll.  Right now it seems to be around 2BTC but for each roll it's listed in the bottom right hand corner of the graph.

Yup. The max profit is set to 3% of the site bankroll, so if a player wins 1 BTC it goes down by 0.03 (and increases when players lose). If the max profit is ever hit, all players in the game are cashed out
2394  Economy / Gambling / Re: Any way to beat the dice sites? on: February 25, 2015, 04:00:02 PM
Most sites with a progressive jackpot don't decrease the chance of winning relative to the size of the jackpot, so at a certain threshold they become +EV. There's at least one dice site I'm aware of with a periodically abusable jackpot.

The Pot's been filling up like a piņata! Who's going to be the one to bust it?

Some random ideas:

* Add a radio button to the left of the filters, with 'sort by'. Maybe: "Wagered", "Bankroll", "Max Profit", "Rating"

* Add a weekly wagered ranking sidebar (Look at dicesites.com, that's my favorite of their features) and some daily/weekly/monthly wagerd to the leaderboard

* In the actual results, add the casino name in text (So people can ctrl+f for a particular casino)

* Add the rating to the results (especially so if narrowed down by "reviewed casinos" )

that is a crazy attempt to get 20k cashout, it will require luck to get that , what are the chances of that to happen ryan?

About 1 in 20404.

Although, two things worth mentioning: You may get cashed out early if its hits the max profit, which is currently 3.05 BTC (It's not like we could afford to let you 20,000x a 1 BTC bet) and during the game loses, you may also qualify for bonuses (if not enough people have cashed before the game crash)

He used a strategy of placing 40 bits on every round, for a LOT of games, before he won...

Or to be more exact, on his 20778th attempt to cashout at 20k he finally did it =)
2399  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com -- The Social Gambling Game on: February 22, 2015, 03:06:17 AM
Opera. I got the 2 free bits and bet, it stalled on me again.

Looks like it's a connection issue on your part, or a browser one. Give Chrome or Firefox a try. Regardless, send a support with your logged in username and I'll take a look, and refund your losses as a gesture of goodwill =)
2400  Economy / Gambling / Re: MoneyPot.com -- The Social Gambling Game on: February 22, 2015, 03:04:24 AM
BE CAREFUL WITH THIS SITE!!

I had over 580 bits, but the site stalled twice and I lost all of them. The first time it stalled at the bet placing screen and the second time when I tried to cash out! Be careful, starting to look fishy!

Hey, sorry about that. It is a real-time network game, so unfortunately issues like this aren't 100% preventable. However, regardless of lag and stalls, the autocashout feature is guaranteed to work, so it shouldn't really effect your EV much.

However, these issues shouldn't happen much (we hope). We've made big improving some of the performance issues (especially the last couple of days) although we mainly test with chrome and firefox, I'd recommend you to use one of those browsers.

The other thing is making sure you have a good internet connection, as it is a real-time game so it has a direct impact.
