Even though I have been here long enough to not get too excited with a quick price rise, it is nice to see Bitcoin up when the World economy is dipping down.

Hows cashing out of bitcoin working for you today Mike Hearn? hehe

He's still comfortably up if he converted to fiat, and if he switched to XMR, ETH, DASH he's up considerably more. I'd wait if I were you with comments like this until they make sense.

Not necessarily. I haven't read his harangue, but I would guess he didn't say that he sold out specifically on that day.

Having studied the data for another project, it has come to my attention that some of the miners out there are still mining with a 750k soft-limit.

What this means is that some blocks which appear to be 75% full are, effectively 100% full. This skews the averages. I'm not going to have ChartBuddy change the way he calculates the averages but I am going to have him mark them in the dots. I think purple will be the color to use.

Additionally, someone seems to be mining with a 250k soft limit. I don't know what to make of that and I'm not going to add any processing for it but just thought I'd note it out of interest.

Hi Rich,

I think it would be useful if Chartbuddy's explanation link described all of the new additions. I was scratching my head a bit when I first saw the block-fullness diagram. At the moment the explanation just covers the walls. Thanks!

Nice try Hearn, but you haven't got the power to stop this train.
2384  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 16, 2016, 06:46:56 PM
Not only that, but if you notice that particular post with Wright, he had just one space between the two sentences. Yet Satoshi was apparently double-spacing even one-liners:

That means a lot coming from you, Hal.  Thanks.

Given this level of investigative nous, I expect you are in the police force?
2385  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 16, 2016, 03:45:35 PM
Ah, nothing changes. Another panic selling spike, another failed exchange, another Bitcoin obituary. Next up, another bubble perchance?
2386  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 11, 2016, 08:34:50 AM
At the moment, seems all good to me.. and I see no major censorship, as seems to be implied by several posters who are asserting their opposition to recent administrator banning actions...

Sure, if you can stomach all of the ad campaigns and all of the disingenuous posts they generate.

When mania returns, all your provincial predictions will be revealed as vapour.

Let's face it...BCT is a comedy show at times!

Numerous posts of mine have been deleted for no reason while the FUD patrol has flooded various threads!

Ask Mr Pumperitis how he was banned for standing up for a coin that he was a major coin holder of...but all is fair and why complain! It is what it is and when that happens you know you have touched a nerve and of course apply more pressure!

Disclaimer:sometimes I kick a$$ and take names

Well, this forum is somewhere between absurd and ridiculous.

The management of this forum does not seem to have the best interest of bitcoin in mind.

Is that why you're a donator?  Tongue
2390  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin goes to 1200-1300 (within a month?) on: January 07, 2016, 08:36:26 PM
My wife asked me the other day, "What if I wanted to take all my money out of the bank, in cash?". I told her she would first need to talk to the bank and arrange for them to have that much cash on hand. Then she would need to fill out some federal forms. More and more people are starting to understand the value of decentralized digital currency since it gives you complete control of your money. As more people want to own at least one Bitcoin, or part of a Bitcoin, the price is going to go up.

I feel it's a safe bet that as the world financial crisis becomes more obvious, Bitcoin will become a much more popular way to secure investments. In the long run, volatility for fiat is going to be generally downward, and the volatility for decentralized digital currency will be generally upwards.

In the UK, you need to ring in advance, come with photo ID, and your bank may query why you need the cash and you may have to provide evidence for why you want to withdraw the amount. In addition to this, if the bank is not satisfied they can just straight out refuse and this has actually happened on a number of occasions. So much for the free movement of capital that an open economy should be based upon.

What is opposite sex to eunuch?

He he, you have me there. Cheesy

I believe that there are at least three persons using same account Smiley

I imagine you must have many high-pitched fights with yourself over which of your personalities gets to post. GREEEEEEN man will, but REEEEEED man throws scalding tea in his (your) face. Who's the third personality? Opposite sex?

Jesus, you think new year is some excuse to slack off work? Make my prediction come true already you loafer.
2395  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 31, 2015, 01:10:05 PM
Doesn't matter. You have to choose a team. There are only 2 and you can't have a different opinion.

Kinda like choosing Republican or Democrat.

That's not true, I could run my own implementation with 'bouncy' blocks that alternate between 512KB and 512MB. I would then be the equivalent of the Monster Raving Loony Party.
2396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Selling 38.9 REP for 0.14 BTC on: December 31, 2015, 12:51:49 PM
I was led to believe no tokens have been issued and you only have IOUs the exchanges may or may not honor.I find it an interesting project but it is slightly behind its timeframe and could be the summer before its live

That's correct. I'm selling the account with the IOU. Until the platform goes live, the REP is locked up and you can't do anything with it.

edit: closed as this is clearly going nowhere.
2397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / [CLOSED] Selling 38.9 REP for 0.14 BTC on: December 31, 2015, 03:05:49 AM
Selling Augur account with 38.9 REP for 0.14 BTC.

Rep are currently trading at Gatecoin for ~0.005BTC, so notionally worth 0.19 BTC. Obviously, these rep aren't tradeable until the platform goes live, probably sometime Q1 2016.
2398  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 30, 2015, 02:09:19 AM
Bitcoin is not about community, it is about money.

It's a good job too, looking at what dregs we have here.
2399  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will January 2016 bring? on: December 30, 2015, 02:01:24 AM
Price will go up.  Why?  Because I suck at predicting it, when I expect up,  it goes down.

ftfy.

A thread by you saying we'll tank in Feb?
