241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Fools Gold on: December 29, 2022, 08:38:21 AM
There are many projects asking investors to stake their tokens for APY but they collapsed later for example Midas, they offered 17% APY on USDC, the token went from 38$ to 0 and their swap feature is shut down..

You shouldn't be patronizing any service that's centralized, they only have one fate which is collapsing and this can be caused from hacks or bad choices by the founders of the project just as we saw with the founder CEO of FTX exchange (Sam Bankman-Fried). You sending coins to this platforms only means you're giving up the ownership of your coins for some APY that mightn't be worth it due to the whole market dipping in price.

Yes whether centralised or decentralised, once you stake any token you automatically lose ownership of it until it is removed from stake again. Even some staked tokens using Dapps do not even get released immediately you requrst for them to be returned. There is an interval of days before that happens. Within this interval anything can go wrong and you lose the whole tokens, or when the price dumps badly. Staking is not a pleasant thing to go into even when you think the percentage or APY is great.
242  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Willing To Get Educated On The Bitcointalk Forum on: December 28, 2022, 09:03:18 PM
As they say, "a single drop of water cannot make an ocean," I am eager to learn from anybody who is willing to help a brother and expose me to this platform. I recently joined Bitcointalk.org and now I realize there are many things to comprehend on this topic that I can't achieve on my own.

Not everybody can teach you what you want to learn. The bigger part of the learning lies with you. You have to make out time to read and make more research to develop yourself. Without that you will be constantly waiting for people to always direct your every time decision. Take up yourself and decide your faith. And anyone telling you to chat them up on any other platform is not to be trusted. Beware of them because they will want to take advantage of you.
243  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: copytrading on: December 28, 2022, 07:48:22 PM

If you find it difficult raising $100 to invest in trading you should not be talking about copy trading at all. Maybe you should start with spot trading and buy only bitcoin or other top coins. Keep away from tokens with hyip or apy because they most times end up as scams and will cause you to lose money. Copy trading is not for those with weak minds.
244  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Binance Leaderboard | COPY MILLIONAIRES on: December 28, 2022, 06:34:16 PM
Also soon we'll implement bybit and other exchanges Smiley

You should add a free trial period of sorts if possible. Trying out and subscribing for a brand-new product that one is not sure of the outcomes is quite tricky

Am in support of this and Op should enable free trials so those interested will check it up. It is not enough to advertise a new product and expect people to rush into it without trial. Eventhough am not a convert of copy trading because I like to buy or sell manually by my prediction and choice.
245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Staking should be limited and time based on: December 28, 2022, 04:57:28 PM

And you do not guess that Binance makes it short timed so that it can be getting commissions for each restake? That is business for you and Binance knows how best to get money off people without them knowing or feeling it. From your argument now it is clear you do not know that those short durations on staking is never to the advantage of those who are staking but for the exchanges that do it.
246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Promotion and Adoption in my locality on: December 28, 2022, 04:44:33 PM
Op Bitcoin is a decentralized currency which when it was first introduced to the world, it was not been acceptable by the government, even upto date it never be accepted generally by the government, but what i want to put in nutshell is that since people across the world have noticed the important of Bitcoin the adoption took another dimension. It's acknowledgeable to extend the news and transaction of Bitcoin into localities so that will not be unaware of cryptocurrency and especially bitcoin.

And in that regard OP is doing a good job by advertising and accepting bitcoin in his business. If everyone here running a business can do that it will help spread the word on bitcoin further. I admire the courage of those who have a way of telling others about bitcoin and they should be encouraged. Am putting merit on Op for that.
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Fools Gold on: December 28, 2022, 09:40:28 AM
Best example of this was the event on terra ust staking on Binance. The APY is really high that users are putting up their funds to stake. Even me got ruined by that offer and program.

Fools Gold it is.

You are courageous to speak out and admit that you too also got fooled and your funds ruined by that. Alot of people will not admit it publicly because they fear the mockery that follows thereafter. But I have learned something from you now that everybody has their own mistakes they have made in life. Thank you for that. It is true that any staking site and project offering a high APY should be seen as a red flag that will later scam people.
248  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How come people spend days here? on: December 27, 2022, 01:31:18 PM
But one thing I noticed is that many people spend hours upon hours here, like really long hours, which made me think, like how come?

If you are really interested in something you will want to spend time with it, is that not so? You will not even know you are spending that much time if you are enjoying it. That is the same thing that happens when people spend hours upon hours chatting here also. By spending more hours here you are going to be learning from the experiences and knowledge of other more exposed members.

Do you guys make a living commenting and being here or are you really that passionate about web3/ crypto and blockchain?
Yes to your first question and yes to the second question also. I make a living from this forum and at the same time I learn from others what I do not know.
249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this a good plan at all? on: December 26, 2022, 07:59:07 PM
Based on what data and statistics have you made this assumption. Many people do not know about cryptocurrency yet, and in that number of persons are gamblers too, so it means that some gamblers still do not have any idea about gambling with cryptocurrency.

It is true that there are gamblers who do not know of cryptocurrency yet but I know this will be those who do not gamble online. Cryptocurrency has become a wave of a thing that anyone with access to the internet must have heard about it. They may not all know how it works, but they have an idea that there's something called cryptocurrency. Those who are into online gambling will know of it even if they do not make use of it but fiat. We can only make excuses for those offline and who are not that educated.
250  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If your friend would tell you this... on: December 26, 2022, 07:44:20 PM
1. I will reject his offer since most people can't accept they loss and will blame the other party, so it will ruin my friendship because of gambling.

I feel this way too because I have seen alot of cases where money ruined friendships and also of how people refused to accept loss when they loose in gambling. The friend can deny he said something like that if he is the type who can not stomach losses if it happens. But if there is a written agreement on that I can go ahead. I will choose sporting betting like football and tennis. These are sports I can be very confident to bet on but it has to be gradual bets in bits, no like putting all the cash on a single bet.
251  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Amendment of the CBN cash withdrawal policy on: December 25, 2022, 06:16:39 PM

252  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tips to Becoming a Successful Holder on: December 25, 2022, 05:46:40 PM
Only holding is not a good idea all the time in crypto. Just think if you brought BTC in 2019 at 4k and haven't sold any in 69k then what have you missed here? You have missed more BTC in your portfolio. You could have increased 4 times of your BTC bag if you would have sold at the peak. Some will say do DCA then but doing DCA in a bear market is another bad idea. So just wait for BTC to find a bottom and then start DCA again till the next bull run.

Those who hold and do not ever sell are using a bad strategy because they remain stagnated instead of selling and increasing their quantity like you have said too. The reason they leave it that way is because they may not be able to buy back after selling, it is the same thing with those who advice for DCA. Most times those who do DCA end up regretting each time they buy. It is not easy to get the timing right. Trading cryptocurrency is not an easy thing and this is the reason why people will tell you that trading is not an easy thing.
253  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I feel guilty. on: December 24, 2022, 04:22:15 PM

You do not have to take responsibility for your room mate's action, except what you told us here was not what actually happened with both of you. You can not continue to feel guilty for another person's decision. It is unheard of. If he was old enough to badger you for smokes, he should also be brave enough to accept the consequences of his action. If am you I will stop trying yo talk him out of the habit whenever I run into him so he does not keep spreading false accusation against you. Just leave him alone to his fate.
254  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Fake naira notes and its security features on: December 24, 2022, 03:40:41 PM

255  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why are you here? on: December 24, 2022, 03:25:10 PM
Briefly describe the forum, we can say that this forum is not about how to make money with cryptocurrencies. This forum is about how not to lose them.

This is something I have learned here and am grateful for this opportunity of knowing this forum. This place has revealed so many different ways scammers get their victims and some times it is not even because the scammers use spells but because of the foolishness and greed of the victims that gets them into troubles. Except for those who are not ready to learn who will not find this place helpful if their only aim is to earn from bounties. This is a super forum.
256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Few Days To Christmas - How Are You Preparing? on: December 24, 2022, 12:56:53 PM
We need money for several stuff this festival period, yeah, but it is a simple advice I've got for the crypto community which you are part of, Don't sell your Bitcoin to buy stuffs that will perish few days or weeks after Christmas.

This advice not to sell our bitcoin to finance our Christmas dreams can be possible now as most of those who hold bitcoin have already incurred losses before now because of the price dump for those who bought months ago and selling in loss is not a good thing, otherwise around Christmas is the time of cashing out on bitcoin. For those who love to spend during Christmas, they should learn to spend wisely. There is January and its problems and expenses, rents to be paid, school fees for those returning back to school also.

If at all we get subboard, that kind matter we you talk na Economy them supposed enter. Them make serious sense. Na matter weh no too make sense, as per deh serious to affect public them deh put for off topic.
260  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your biggest obstacle to achieving financial freedom ? on: December 22, 2022, 04:49:20 PM
My first obstacle to financial freedom is the government, they don't have enough job opportunities for people that is willing to work for them to be able to put food on their table, instead government comes up with harsh laws to control the citizens financial life by collaborating with financial institutes. That's why government in some countries banned cryptocurrency.

That is so true, especially in third world countries. Government of these countries do not know how to provide for heir citizens in terms of employment and social welfare. No enough jobs for the people who have gotten trainings from schools. Unemployment rate keeps hitting high and dependency of extended family members and friends keep draining the few who have jobs.

Inflation is a obstacle to financial freedom. If you are able to make some money it is not able to take care of needs you have because of high inflation that is eating the money you have and you can't have some savings.

That is big problem that has caused many financial difficulties eventhough they have jobs that fetches them money. The salaries earned become less than their value because inflation has eaten it up.
