This is just a slightly more detailed mini guide to run multiple instances of ProtoShare Client in windows. Credits to FreeTrade who posted the how-to in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=325261.0. Example of ProtoShare client location ------------------------------------- C:\Program Files (x86)\ProtoShares Default data directory location ------------------------------- C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\ProtoShares Steps ----- 1) First create a protoshares.conf file. Create a new .txt file in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\ProtoShares and rename to protoshares.conf Edit protoshares.conf with notepad and insert the following without the (description): port=3888 (Default protoshare port) gen=1 (Gen=1 will cause the client to start mining upon launch) genproclimit=x (x is the max number of threads with win32 client; Also ram dependent) 2) Next I duplicated C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\ProtoShares directory and created C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\ProtoShares2, so now I have two data directories: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\ProtoShares C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\ProtoShares2 I deleted the wallet from ProtoShares2 directory because I wanted a separate wallet. Inside ProtoShares2 directory, edit protoshares.conf with notepad: port=xxxx <= Must change this to another port address e.g. 3889 gen=1 genproclimit=x 3) To launch ProtoShares Client: 1st Instance - Execute "C:\Program Files (x86)\ProtoShares\protoshares-qt.exe" (As normal just double-click) 2nd Instance - Execute "C:\Program Files (x86)\ProtoShares\protoshares-qt.exe -port=xxxx -datadir=C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\ProtoShares2" You can use a shortcut or .bat file to launch the 2nd Instance. Hope you find this useful. Good luck.

I ran the client like 15 minutes ago, and it still can't connect to the network. I'm working on Windows 7, enabled all the firewall exceptions it asked me to, and have never had similar problems with bitcoin-qt / litecoin-qt etc.
I'm just seeing zero peers.
Same problem here. Any fix available? I already added all the nodes. Still nothing These are my current connected peers. I'm just curious, I keep seeing this in the log file. Is the miner going round and round itself?
testHash ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff Hash Target 000fff0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Its appearing fairly often.

several minutes 1 connection, and now no connections, only 7 blocks.
So who can provide some nodes?

What could cause a block to be outright rejected by the client? See the log file, you might/should see this: ERROR: ProcessBlock() : Possible Multipeer 51 percent detected, initiating anti-legit-peerban defense! halting until valid block! This is normal..
ERROR: BitcoinMiner : ProcessBlock, block not accepted

any specifics on how to launch? more efficiently? Launch using a .bat file?

Thanks, I'm sure it was a total Noob question
No prob. I was a noob before as well. Just fyi, there are currently issues with the goldcoin network which is being looked at by the developer. I only had 2 confirmed blocks and tons of rejects. Its "normal" at the moment to get many rejects. Furstrating but you might get lucky.

@ hhs99 rpcuser=username-is-you-wallet-address
darkzorger, as far as i know rpcuser can be anything cause its just to allow cgminer to access the wallet. Its only 'the wallet address' when doing p2p mining.
|
|
|
So this should work? then run the wallet or the goldcoind?
rpcuser=username rpcpassword=pwd rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 daemon=1 server=1 gen=0 maxconnections=64 dns=1 checkpoints=1 listen=1 rpcport=8122 dnsseed=1 banscore=50 bantime=14400 addnode=50.116.22.43 addnode=88.161.131.83 addnode=24.70.184.213 addnode=208.115.109.157 addnode=72.200.175.240 addnode=192.241.134.49 addnode=76.10.147.84 addnode=150.101.174.85 addnode=212.124.68.161 addnode=82.20.48.48 addnode=199.201.106.33 addnode=78.145.71.105 addnode=209.172.25.95
Run the wallet. After it has sync, then run cgminer.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. When you solo mine you setup the conf file then use cgminer or something like it to generate the coins? I tried to use the start mining button but nothing happened and I left it on for a few hours. I looked at the debug console and it said the "The setgenerate command has been disabled" Ive never solo mined before.
The mining button does nothing. Look inside your goldcoin.conf file, you should see these few lines: rpcuser=your-username rpcpassword=your-password rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 rpcport=8122 server=1 Put in your own rpcuser and rpcpassword, also I added rpcport. Make sure server=1. For solo-mining, your cgminer should point to the goldcoin wallet as above. Example -------- cgminer.exe --scrypt -o http://127.0.0.1:8122 -u your-username -p your-password

My initial impression, straightforward and easy to use. Haven't noticed any issues yet.

I had only 1 confirmed block in the past 8 hours. So much rejects.
|
|

There was 1 transaction in the block? Did you get your coins? Nope. I just noticed something interesting. Log says accepted but listtransactions in debug window says orphan.
