Good, because it looks like it's only the two of us left waiting!

Somebody asked about my (now pointless) cable to run Neptune from 2x20A virtual rails on AX1200i; response for all to see as below.

It was just a splitter using three 8 pin CPU power sockets. However I have updated my design since. It now has two 8 pin plugs which fit the AX1200i directly and 16x20AWG cables taking the 12v to a heavy duty 8 pin socket as below; the original Corsair cable plugs into the heavy duty socket and the current is split across two virtual rails.

Shame KnC don't have any chips left!

243  Bitcoin / Mining / "I am in batch 1 and I am screwed by knc." on: July 01, 2014, 01:14:25 PM
I am in batch 1 and KfC have run out of chips to make more Neptunes in the near future let alone ship them. This is the first time that they have broken promises / failed to deliver in such an easily provable way (it's Q3!).

aasl is being screwed in the same way as per https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=170332.msg7619215#msg7619215

So, I'm looking to get a list together of other people who are in the same boat with a view to pursuing joint legal action if KnC don't honor refunds.

Thanks, u27

OK, it's good to thrash these things out, as it is clearly becoming a viable option to begin some sort of action against this company.
Thanks to MurrayPaul for his insight and logic, which a lot of; makes sense. To do this, people are going to need to know the pitfalls expected and the options available.

The best thing would be for KfC to just honour all refund requests; it's not as though they are short of the funds - having competed against their own customers for this long.

They should at this time just be honest about the situation; which it feels like they have forgotten how to do.

I see two options for them to avoid legal action at this stage; they could offer HWYW AND 2nd Neptune to all customers who have not as yet had their first Neptune dispatched or they could offer full refunds to outstanding orders. Clearly they should offer both options, but either one would swing any court action in their favor.

Can we get an idea of how many people have been screwed over at this stage? Is it the majority of batch one?

It wasn't required since I and many others were able to order without a VAT number. If it was required then we couldn't order.

I ordered without to start with and KnC gave me the option to pay VAT or provide VAT registration number some time later.
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 01, 2014, 11:05:31 AM
This is KfC own t's and c's; therefore It would be up to KfC to vet every customer and prove that they have done ample due diligence to assure they haven't sold to any residential customer. Methinks they would fall flat on their face in this matter.

Why?
By agreeing to the T&C you have stated to them that you are a business customer. Why should they have to investigate whether you were lying?

by placing such restrictions and then offering a free web portal for sales. Any lawyer would find ease in tearing apart KfC arguments.
It is quite simple to assure business-to-business trade, by requiring company number or VAT registration number. None of this was carried out and it was the case that KfC simply put up a web shop for all and sundry to make purchase of their equipment.

Sorry to burst your bubble mate, but VAT number was required.

Every EU customer had the option to provide VAT number or pay 20% tax on top on the $10-13k and I'm guessing not a single person opted to pay the 20%.

Held my faith in KnC for a long time when others doubted them; turns out the others were right! I have requested refund for upwards of a dozen solid reasons including "fire hazard" and "Q1/Q2 means end of March"... even once they twist it around they cant claim it means Q3.

If refund is not honored promptly then it's time to get legal. If it goes that far then I will be claiming against them for cost of PSU and preparation time also.

Most of the suggestions for litigation against KnC are invalid because Neptune was not sold as a consumer product; they will also dodge safety concerns because they are only selling 12v hardware (way short of 50v legislation). However, they can't argue that dispatch in Q3 is meeting their obligations; they will try to argue that HWYW constitutes meeting their (already twisted) delivery timescale but if this means giving up 2nd machine then they fall wildly short on "under promise and over deliver" which was stated by KnC *everywhere*.

Who's with me?

EDIT RE: http://forum.kncminer.com/forum/main-category/acccounts/49238-your-neptune-order-options-invitation-email-received?p=49347#post49347

Yes Jamal, I wouldn't touch that accept button with yours. 2nd Neptune was added to my order free of charge; when it was announced there was nothing about accepting additional terms for it or that it was for late delivery. It is a totally separate issue and it was clearly stated that it was due to the rapid increase in difficulty.

I justed finished my Neptun Project. Corsair 1200i is working very well per 3 modules. Is over 30 TH now Tongue

But now i have a lot die issue. Who have experience with that ?

Looking good Tom; nice configuration.

Are you just connecting two PCI-e per box to get around the 20A default safety limit on the AX1200i (that's what it looks like in the pic's) or have you managed to save the 40A settings to the PSU?

Thanks, u27
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 27, 2014, 02:40:40 PM
how i save the otions at corsair 1200i
to have 40a

what i must click?

In the Corsair link software go to the power tab. Check OCP box. Then slide your rails to 40A. Now try using it for 3 Neptune boxes.

If this solves the problem then the result should be the same for 1, 2, 3 or maybe even 4 cubes; I will not be running more than two per AX1200i on account of efficiency.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=170332.msg7540930#msg7540930  shows the sliders you need to slide; still trying to figure out if the PSU "remembers" the settings or if defaults as soon as it's not connected to Corsair Link.

Anybody got in touch with CorsairGeorge?

This sounds like the way forward; just remove the safety features using the software!

Any chance of a walk through? I'm thinking I could hook a laptop up to each PSU, set the rails to 40A and repeat for each PSU; will the PSU "remember" the settings or only run 40A while linked?

A screenshot walk-through would be real nice... anybody?
how i can do that?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh?

I have just connected the Corsair Link up to my laptop (USB to internal USB header adapter required) and I for one am very impressed with this PSU. Credit where credit is due, a power supply should shut off if you try to pull more than 20A on one PCI-e cable; anything more than that would be stupid and dangerous!

The remaining question I have is if the PSU has memory such that it starts up using the previous settings or if it runs at default 20A per PCI-e until the Corsair Link application connects? If it's the first of these two options that's all well and good; but if it's the later then can I plug five AX1200i boxes into a USB hub and control them all from one laptop? Where are the Corsair reps when you need them, huh?

In a situation where one cube has a fault and starts pulling a lot of juice other PSU's would just keep pumping 12v into it; but if I set these to trip at 10% above the max draw for each cube then it would cut out and possibly save Neptune and / or save my house burning down.

-EDIT-
Could somebody with an account at overclock.net pm CorsairGeorge and ask him to come in here and help us out? Corsair stand to sell a lot of PSU's in addition to the large number of us who have already ordered their flagship model; some support wouldn't go a miss.

I can not go more than 375 2 cubes at corsair 1200i more 375
Shut down psu

What the ff
......

I have a corsair 1200i on my computer that would constantly shutdown when the gpu's pulled more than 20A. I have dual water cooled 7990s. I have enabled multi rail OCP in the Corsair and use over clock protection to adjust the rails to allow more than 20A. I am using the Corsair link software to do this. I don't know if there is a way to do this without the software because the default is 20A. So this is probably why more than 2 cubes will shut down the psu. Just my thoughts.

This sounds like the way forward; just remove the safety features using the software!

mate. i know you well enough to know that you are not gonna burn in your bed. good luck with it.

It is a lot of PCI-e sockets to buy but (unlike KfC) I'm not going to skimp on a couple of $ to hook up a ten thousand dollar miner to power; that would be really stupid.

At this point ROI is so far away that $3 is not going to make a dent in it.
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 26, 2014, 03:42:17 PM
Amazing what risks people are willing to take. How does this thing even get past customs? Who is responsible if a house burns down and someone dies? This should be reported to the gov.

You are taking responsibility by connecting a PSU to it; that is why KfC don't ship with PSU.
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 26, 2014, 03:25:54 PM
My question is, wouldn't it be better to make up some cables that go from two sockets on the PSU to one PCI-e rather than void my year of Neptune warranty? That and demand compensation from KnC for the woeful inadequacy in their design, obviously.

u27

I doubt such a thing exists but I think the best solution to avoid warranty issues would be some sort of dual adaptor.

Something like this audio adaptor but with PCI-E plugs obviously Smiley

It does now.

256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 26, 2014, 12:38:37 PM
Somebody PM'ed me asking for pics of how I soldered a second connector. Well, I don't have any but here is how it looks from the outside. Basically I bought PCI-e splitters from eBay and sacrificed them for the female receptacles. I used 14 AWG black and yellow wires and soldered those to the bottom of board under the location of the original connector.

Ok, so I ordered four AX1200i power supplies a while back when they were on offer; until I read this I was thinking I would buy one more and eventually have two cubes on each when (if) second neppy arrives.

Now I have to solder cables to each cube because KnC built these way, way, way over power spec for PCI-e six pin such that even the PSU has the intelligence not to allow that much power through one connector?

My question is, wouldn't it be better to make up some cables that go from two sockets on the PSU to one PCI-e rather than void my year of Neptune warranty? That and demand compensation from KnC for the woeful inadequacy in their design, obviously.

Somebody asked about Corsair cables on KnC forum but they banned me for talking about their competitors again so can't respond.

I can confirm that Corsair modular (AX1200i at least) comes with both 18 and 16 AWG modular PCI-e cables. The 18 AWG cables have one PCI-e and the 16 AWG cables (which you get two of with each AX1200i) go to one PCI-e and then have 18 AWG going to another PCI-e.

So long story short the single PCI-e cables would look neater but make sure you use the first PCI-e plug on the modular cables which have two. If you wish to run more than two cubes from one AX1200i then you will either have to buy/make cables or risk the 18 AWG.

This KfC power arrangement reminds me of pushing 120w through these for overclocked blades back in the day:

Those things got hot hot hot!

KnC clearly planned six modules until recently because they recommended buying two or three power supplies.

How come nobody has  posted an unboxing?

Hey, I offered you half a Neptune order... Do you wish you had taken it and what would you have done by now?
260  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: User270 BANNED (aka - How KnC treat their loyal customers) on: May 01, 2014, 04:01:36 PM
I have lost trust and I also don't eat chicken; can you revise your poll to reflect this?

I'm pretty sure they kicked me off for the copy/paste but I asked about cables for Neptune twice and they must know something by now; they could have at least given a guideline or said they they don't know yet but they just ignored. That's when I realised there was no point in being registered there and posted about the fantastic deal that Neptune customers can get on SP30 machines.
