241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Market Goes Down and Down on: August 13, 2018, 05:40:03 PM
If you’re affected negatively by this latest dump and it’s taking a toll on your day to day, I recommend investing more in yourself. Get back to your hobbies, pick up a new hobby, or make some new friends.

Diversify your time and net worth. Invest in what makes you happy. It is entirely possible to build a small business around what you love. I’ve built two and am working on a third. I try and challenge myself to do new things and accomplish what I never thought I could do. I couldn’t do that if I sat around bummed out about this crypto stuff.

Let it ride and go live.
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can anyone suggest some altcoins to buy? on: August 11, 2018, 02:27:44 PM
Most of my holdings lost 15-20% USD value over the last week, but my BNB is up 2.5% over the same period. Money seems to flow into BNB when the rest of the market is tanking, and I don't think the bear market is done yet.

Personally I'm looking for it to approach ATHs relative to BTC before the next burn.
243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins to Invest? on: August 11, 2018, 02:26:09 PM
Bought back into BNB last night. I have watched the performance of this coin for months, and I have been able to predict the movements well enough to recover some massive losses I suffered in Nano and other alts. I feel pretty confident we will see 240k-250k Sats by the end of the month. 20-25% gain in Bitcoin value. I think it could run even higher than that (300k Sats or so) during this cycle up to the coin burn in October. As long as Bitcoin doesn't fly too high between now and then. We'll see how it goes.

245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying NEO on: August 10, 2018, 03:44:09 PM
I spent a long time using the NEO platform. Last year it was full of promise but when juxtoposed against some of todays newer blockchains it is starkly apparaent it is been out evoled and this is reflected in its current price.
The reality is NEO really needs to pull out some big stops in order to become relvant compared to the current dominating blockchains.
246  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bull run of BTC start soon? on: August 10, 2018, 03:40:28 PM
Bull run last year i believe was initially fueled by a large new audience discovering smart contracts with blockchain tech and legitimacy of bitcoin.
I had only heard of cryptocurrencies in early January 2017. I had heard of bitcoin, but only in connection with silk road. After the initial failed ETF and crashing price i found ethereum. I new bitcoin was legit through coinbase and research. Many articles about blockchain tech will revolutionize x,y, and z. That along with the begin of the major bullrun had me hooked as prices skyrocketed.
My main point is we will need a paradigm shift to trigger the bullrun of 2017. There will be more, but nothing compared to that one without major breakthroughs in crypto.
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Year of altcoins or down again? on: August 08, 2018, 07:58:55 AM
Anyone who "believed in the tech" is still up a lot, as they got in a long time ago.
The people who got in late 2017, the only thing they believe in is the money. And that's fine, the vast majority of people are here to make money. However, don't try and pretend you weren't here to make money.
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptocurrency market dropped on: August 08, 2018, 07:57:45 AM
This drop really surprised me. After good news in general recently and not much to FUD about I can't see cause for the sudden drop. I guess there is incentive now with longs and shorts to push the market one way or another. Hopefully when more money gets into the market this becomes harder to do and we get something a little more stable.
249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Market Goes Down and Down on: August 08, 2018, 07:49:51 AM
You guys need to calm down.

Yes most alt coins are down from 70-98% ( Request Network anyone?). The good news is that the tech is still unchanged the fundamentals are still sound.

Let the other half ride and check back in a year maybe you'll be up a decent amount or maybe it will go to 0 but at least you'll have peace of mind.
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: So, Crypto Market ALL RED Again!! on: August 07, 2018, 10:32:51 AM
I predict that in the future, 2018 will be remembered as the great post-bubble pop bear year. The year many people lost a lot of money and sold everything.

...but I also think it will be remembered as the year that those who stuck it out, and accumulated cheap coins while everyone else was selling scared, set themselves up to get very wealthy in 2019, the year the Bitcoin ETF went into place and a large number of mainstream investors first entered the space, and then stayed for good.
251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin investment? on: August 07, 2018, 10:30:59 AM
Cost Averaging is the ONLY way to invest into crypto. With how tumultuous the market is it's too risky and frankly foolish to put all your available resources in at once. 9 out of 10 times you will lose. Imagine if you put every dollar you had in last December/January... you are now screwed. I started investing last November and put around the same amount in every month. Its the sole reason why I'm currently ONLY 12% in the red as of today.
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 150 ETH OR 9.5 BTC? on: August 07, 2018, 10:29:06 AM
Put some money in Bitcoin. If you are all in on Bitcoin, that's fine, stay there if you aren't feeling risky. If you're feeling like an animal, then put some money into Ethereum. I'm sure a few altcoins will moon in a few years, but most will die. To those that pick the alts that moon, congratulations, enjoy your lambos.
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to find the right coins to buy on: August 06, 2018, 03:13:19 PM
For most coins/tokens there's a scan of the largest wallets. You will have to be careful because some are exchange's wallets, and developers, or whatever. But if you find one that looks like a human's and they keep adding more instead of moving it to an exchange/selling, I guess that's the only way I can think of to answer your question.

Otherwise the prominent people will probably just shill on their twitter or youtube videos. So to answer your question, Roger Ver would say BCH, Charlie Lee would say Litecoin/possibly Nano. Vitalik? Ethereum/Omisego.
254  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto replacing fiat? on: August 04, 2018, 09:30:05 AM
I don't believe fiat will ever be replaced by digital currency. I think BTC will just be a commodity that has a lot of value that can be bought and sold, sort of like holding a stock of a public traded company. I'm also almost 40 which makes me old in this community so I may be a bit close minded.
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Market Goes Down and Down on: August 04, 2018, 09:28:57 AM
I haven't lost 90% because I liquidated most holdings in late January. I caught the XVG, ZIL and BAT swings over the past few months. I now hold a vast majority of my portfolio in VET. I've taken five figure losses over the course of a week that I've held it. My biggest burn thus far has been HORSE. I got in at .27 and rode that down to .01.

257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do not panic on: August 03, 2018, 08:18:16 AM
I'm not panicking and I'm not selling. Why?

Because the reason I got into crypto was a) to make money, not lose it, and b) I believe this tech will continue to grow and evolve and revolutionize many aspects of our financial systems.

And if you arent here for one or both of those reasons, you shouldn't be here at all.

So I'm not panicking, because at some point in the future, as long as your coin isn't total useless, it will get to a point where you can sell it and walk away. Might be later this year. 2019. 2025. Who knows. I bought the ones I wanna dump in mid-January, so not ATH, but near the top.
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptocurrency prices falling on: August 03, 2018, 08:14:37 AM
We're still up 13-14% on the month. This is crypto. It takes huge swings and they happen fast. That is how you make money though. Buy low. Sell high. Repeat.

Have you not read anything about the historical volatility of this asset class?

Seriously, I think some of you would have literally killed yourselves during the Mt Gox hack and crash. This is a downward swing of 10-20%, depending on the coin.

I don't say this often, but if you can't take this, you a should really just sell everything for a big loss, get out for a while, and come back after we enter adoption phase.
259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you panic? on: August 03, 2018, 08:06:40 AM
Putting on my long term goggles this massive dip doesnt bother me that much. Now I got lucky and got in at a very low entry point so it might be a little easier for me to say.(regardless this is still scary).
I would say two factors are still keeping me sane.
1. We have yet to see any real transactions on the vechain blockchain
2. The authority nodes are yet to be announced. And I strongly believe they will, it would be suicide for the foundation to keep them anonymous(defeats the purpose of a public trustless blockchain)
There are plenty of other factors too, but these two are gonna drive the real organic long term growth...
260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Winner of this year, ETH or BTC? on: August 01, 2018, 08:28:29 AM
If your goal is to make money, Bitcoin is the best choice of all cryptos. It's been around the longest, has first mover advantage, is most well known, and drives the movement of the entire crypto market. You can also trade it more effectively than any other crypto, since it has the highest liquidity. You may not retire off of your bitcoin gains compared to choosing the 1 out of 100 cheap alt coins that will moon, but its a tortoise vs the hare type scenario.
