Would it be hard or even possible to create a decentralized faucet in NEM client that is funded by donations? So when people buy their first alias, send their first message, they don't have to use an outside website. Just brainstorming.
It'd be cool to create games people play rather than just a faucet. That why it would take time to get the NEM, which would reduce the likelihood of spamming. If we made an adventure game, we could tell a compelling story about creating a new world economy based on financial freedom, decentralization, and equality  That sounds awesome, you have some great ideas Makoto. Something to think about. Even with all the drama that went on today, NEMstakes are trading at the same price they were a few days ago. The stakes may have gone down anyways, considering BTC took a hit today as well.

Indeed it would be important to plant a NEM seed in at least two Universities: MIT and Standford. However we should not only give NEM for free, but go one step further and organize some creative events to attract the great minds/entrepreneurs/developers/hackers. One such event would be a hackathon for building the best app upon our blockchain, another could be an event where people should come up with the most innovative business ideas to incorporate NEM. A lot more can be done - you name it. If we manage to plant some NEM clubs in these Universities I think we could also kindle an interesting and intelligent discussion regarding our technological innovation, regarding our economic innovation(equality experiment) and regarding our social innovation(the NEM movement).

Wouldn't be too hard to implement,(hardest part I guess would be getting a college's approval?) maybe we could even let the community vote for the best app through NEM client! How about not just focusing on the US, but doing this for, say, the first 50 or 100 students to apply at major universities around the world, like MIT, Stanford, CMU, CalTech, Peking University (北京大学), Tokyo University (東京大学), UCL, Oxford, etc.? Just verify that their e-mail address if from there, and give them like 10,000 NEM each. Good points. Though I think we shouldn't give 10000 directly, bur rather create a secret plan how each student Nemster should try and plant a NEM nest in his university and "conquer" it for us and as he makes progress he can gradually unlock more NEM. We put a "bounty" for each level up and create a gamification framework for NEM students. Each NEM we give will be more effective like that. I think we should work on this ! This may have a huge impact on publicity if the cards are played wright and provide immediate results towards adoption too !!  Additionally, we can do this. Every country has some sort of bitcoin meetups. Send our ambassadors there and shout some drinks and snacks in these meetups and do some promos. I am sure we have enough of us here in the group to represent a large part of the community. Very quickly this will propagate because the crypto world is very small. Such great ideas going on here. I really like the idea of a gamification framework. Makato, reminds me of facebook back in the day, when they verified your email account because you had to be a student to join. NEM is Facebook, Bitcoin is Myspace I'd be willing to set up tutorials specifically aimed at these students when the time comes. Let's SWARM those bitcoin meetups |

Any discussion of putting the shares on something like Nxt Asset Exchange?
Gray is studying this possibility. Before making the decision he must understand the Nxt Asset Exchange and it takes some time because it is complex (and English is not his native language). For me that's one of the best choice. We'll no more worry about security. It is impossible to take down or steal an asset. Glad to hear that he's looking into that. It would be great to not have to check out my shares every-so-often just because I'm worried they might have "disappeared". |

I think some of the funds need to be invested into something soon or everyone is going to sell off. Once the dividends go below 1000 I have a bad feeling people are going to get nervous.
It is great that they sell. We can buy more shares for ridiculous small prices. It doesn't change anything regarding the investment. Gray already got the money so it is only between us. Gray asked us to reveal our mail addresses so he keeps a tracks of what we have. If CS get down, the group and the shares still exit  Yes, we will get more miner after next week, I'm waiting they adjust price, current price is too high. We will get 5-15t next few weeks.

Now that NEM is really gaining traction, I'd like to revisit the idea of creating a game for NEM.
The possibilities are endless. To start, if we could have some simple game with a leaderboard, and reward the top 3 on the leaderboard with NEM weekly, that would be awesome. We could even just add that onto a simple games that a nember already created (white drop and slap rat, check them out on apple App Store).
Ideally the game would be more interactive with NEM, for example:
An RPG where when you reach lvl 50, beat final boss, etc, you are rewarded with achievements, and that could be converted to some NEM.
I don't even think the game has to revolve around NEM, a quality game that can stand on its own in the App Store, is much better than a game that revolves around NEM, but has no downloads.

Great idea. I have one thing to say. We need great Nemsters like crackerhead and we need more of him. We don't need dumpers, socks but good, committed developers and marketer. Together succeed we could. A game has to be sustainable, meaning, giving away NEMS means there must be a way to generate NEMS to give away. One way is to build a game while also mining as a POI. But there has to be some reward scheme to give a higher amount of NEM somehow so that it gives these gamers incentive to play as much. These NEMS acquired can be used to fuel their games. Otherwise, they may have to run out to buy NEMS and that is not advisable as anyone else could offer the same. Alternatively, the entire community of one type of game is a POI and to give them a good reward scheme which can be won in the game. Something like that. I agree that would be the best way to do it. I was just trying to take this one step at a time. (I know a few members were working on game projects, but it is my undertsanding that they have been dropped). Don't get me wrong, if someone wants to create a fully integrated game like that, be my guest. I will play the hell out of it, and donate NEM to the dev as well. The problem is, do we have anyone willing to take on a huge endeavor like that at this time? Another development team is working on a similar concept so I have been helping them brainstorm.
They will be releasing a pre-ann when they are ready, and have been doing a bit of development already as they are also working on something to promote people to travel.
I will be helping them with brainstorming, and will also try to get my graphics designer in contact.
I have been contacted by someone who wants to do marketing, so I will get them in touch.

After NEM's launch, the initial stakeholders only have two options, hold or dump. We can give them one other option, spend. Crowd-funding sites are very popular right now. If we use Kickstarter as an example, it's global rank is 822 and it's rank in the US is 387. Kickstarter has several limitations. -Only project creators from certain countries are permitted. -Charity and awareness campaigns are prohibited. -Projects must fit within one of 13 categories. -High fees, they take a 5% cut of the pledged funds plus Amazon Payments get 3-5%. -You are only backing projects, the terms and conditions do not allow investment returns (no movie distribution rights or dividends). We could create our own crowd-funding site based on NEM, without these limitations. Project creators from all countries will be welcome and they will have the option of offering dividends. The fees will be lower. Our NEM crowd-funding platform could be the first "company" on the Asset Exchange. For now let's call this company "NEMfunder". The fee will support the operating costs (administration, marketing, hosting, etc) the remaining profit will be distributed to NEMfunder shareholders. Instead of just saving or selling their NEM, the stakeholders will now be able to buy shares of NEMfunder. If your plan is to hold NEM, a better option might be to buy some NEMfunder shares. Owning NEMfunder shares denominated in NEM will give you leverage. In the future, if the value of NEM increases threefold and the NEMfunder share price doubles the value of your NEM holdings would multiply by 6 times. If we issue 10,000,000 shares, it may look something like this: NEMfunder total shares= 10,000,000 70% internal shares= 7,000,000 (80% for employee salaries and 20% expansion fund) 30% external shares= 3,000,000 for public offering issued on the NEM Asset Exchange. Employees of NEMfunder will receive internal shares. We will be needing developers, marketers and a stay-at-home CEO. Anyone on the NEM dev team is invited. To add to the credibility and momentum of this IPO, anyone in the NEM core team is invited. To get this going I registered www.NEMfunder.com and www.NEMstarter.com (also NXTfunder.com, in case our neighbor NXT likes it). What is the next step to bring NEMfunder into existence? Good idea, but we already have fund.nemcoin.com. NEMstarter has a good ring to it, if nothing else it could always forward to fund.nemcoin.com A note: Currently fund.nemcoin.com is just a placeholder site. We still need a developer to create a REAL crowdfunding site that will accept currency and have the required security features, etc. Once someone creates a better site, it will take the subdomain of fund.nemcoin.com, and the current site will cease to exist. It's my understanding that there are no developers currently working on a crowdfunding type site for NEM, so the position is still open! |

I have heard news that Lamassu https://lamassu.is/ is advertising that they can sell open-source (programmable) crypto-currency atms for any currency at $1800 a piece. When Nem starts to get big it would cost less than 100k to have one atm in every u.s. state. This is achievable, Dogecoin raised like 48k (correct?) to advertise in a nascar race. This would be great for Nem infrastructure and publicity. ...Not even Bitcoin has an atm grid like that. We should put something like this on fund.nemcoin.com. Tell me what you think... This is a VERY good idea!! Every time im talking to someone outside of crypto, and they are not understanding that bitcoin is worth money, I say there are Bitcoin ATMs. Magically, they understand that it is worth money. Try it yourself. You can talk for hours about why it has value and get nowhere. BTC atm. POW! They believe it is worth money and want to know more. We of course need NEM to be easily traded for fiat. This is the first step. I know people will show up and say, "but we need to be thinking about circumventing fiat" I agree with this. But first we need to circumvent BITCOIN!!!!!! Hey, thanks! It would be awesome if this could become a reality, I think having an ATM grid would be more productive than having the likes of a Nem debit card. ATMs encourage local adoption of crypto-currency, while debit cards produce reliance on fiat. (Nem ATMs would take cash, and give you Nem.) No need for Bitcoin. However, I am not against the idea of a Nem debit card in conjunction with Nem ATMs. I think it would be smart to target every u.s. state capital city. (like Annapolis in Maryland) These cities usually have tight-nit, and semi-urban groups of technologically capable people. (The kind we would want to target for Nem marketing) Accordingly, news spreads quick in cities like these, we could try to get an article about each new Nem ATM in each cities newspaper(s). ...we would need to raise between 40,000,000 to 80,000,000 Nem for a project such as this. I beg to differ. "Call for participation" is different from an IPO both in legal term and in actual practice. The money stakeholders sent in are donation/ fee to join but not the payment to buy a stake. NEM initial fundrasing is set in this way for a good reason. And I don't think because everyone else is doing IPO then NEM fundrasing has to be an IPO. Alright so I was wrong, although I don't see the difference between a donation fee and a stake - since fundraisers will receive some NEM, they are receiving a stake, no? NEM is an evolving entity. A stake of a Coingen clone is worth like nothing; A stake in a properly developed technology could be worth a lot. NEM could have been the former. But it happens to be the latter because of the participation of some great people like Jaguar, Thies, Gimre, Makoto, BloodyRookie, Krysto, Patmaster etc. I hope you understand. Yes, sort of. Still, I think that saying "this is not an IPO, this is an call for participation" wil make most people defiant, like when politician use one word for an other. Fortunately, this is easy to fix: suffice to mention in the same sentence the difference between an IPO and a call for participation. Or, better yet; "technically, this is not an IPO; but if by IPO you mean; taking a small risk in the hope it will pay out later", well yes, you can call this an IPO" Plus, IPO is much faster to pronounce and understand than "call for participation" Let's cal it a CFP then, it has a kind of ring to it, if you say it enough |

You have to type "NEM" coin on google search and use the time settings (use a week or 24 hours) to find any mentioning of NEM. It's not entirely fool proof but it does work to an extent. Although I dislike the name, nemcoin would be much easier to "market", for SEO purposes. I think NEM will show up in search results naturally eventually though, without having to adjust the google time settings. I truly believe the web will be buzzing about NEM once it's released. Also there's currently multiple websites being developed that pertain to different aspects of NEM, which should be great for our search results. |
