its a scam 100%

these craigslist sellers will not sell in person.. they are remotely posting on CL from other locations and trying to phish people into sending money for them.. you will guaranteed never meet up with this guy nor see them hashing

I wait until someone publishes a hack, so I can produce some dust on another pool...

yeah, $3 in a year

lol totally not even worth it.. but I do wish we could use CK solo pool instead, then set up another mining group like Phil had with the sidehack sticks

my one S7 is still holding at 4720gh at 593, will be testing the PSU later today running each one individually.. we'll see how it goes

Did you try the soft reset that resolved philip's issue that he made a thread about?

Ufo

yeah I tried that a bunch of times while trying to run stock when i first noticed the unit's hash rate was slipping.. still had no effect on mine

they are trying to make the new GUI more advanced looking but it sucks.. the worker stats page is broken trying to dive into different stats
246  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining rigs rental is that profitable? on: September 30, 2015, 04:18:46 PM
sometimes you can catch good deals on rentals, but the market fluctuates so fast that one hour your mining and next hour your rental stopped because all the rented rigs jumped to a new higher price

I think all my problems were due to power off power on when I went from 2 to 1 machines.  A simple software system reboot really looks like a winning solution.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1196671.0

I've tried that at stock freq and to no avail, still lots of HW and lower hash.. I'm curious if your unit holds its current levels for a day or two after soft reboot.  I'm going to try each of my miners individually on my 2880 tomorrow and report back
249  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 30, 2015, 01:45:58 AM
my miner came quickly, but it runs slowly.

i can not get past 4600 and errors are .1100

I'm in same boat man.. Buck luckily one of mine is a good one, second one is a dud like yours.  Did you try 593?  Seems mine likes that so far, we will see if she holds though

Bitmain emailed me agn saying it's probably due to PSU variance, that running two on a single 2880w PSU isn't ideal as each of them need 1500w at minimum to function fully..  I dunno if I should believe this?

And yeah the sagging after awhile is totally legit.. My dud unit over the course of the weekend dropped 600gh down to 3.9TH

Not a ton of PSU's are in that range.  Seems like they are saying to use their server PSU with it - https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=000201505040743496917U7kGsCm0694  1600w would make it one of the best for the job if their recommendations are correct.

If you have only the "dud" plugged in to the 2880w do you get better results?

That's going to be my task tomorrow.. Once I set them up initially I haven't mesed with them, other than a hard reboot after the weekend when the one was hashing at 3.9

They still are shipping the under performing units from Batch one. I am in Lee's Hosting group and he put out a notice the he was contacted by Bitmain and our miners will ship out today but only run at the 4.66 TH range so he is compensating us what Bitmain compensated him.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=934581.msg12553092#msg12553092

IF my miners ship, and IF they are under-performing, I will be asking for closer to the $238 USD per miner discount that they are selling them for...

"Batch 1" @ 4.86 GH/s for $1823 USD
"Batch 2" @ 4.66 GH/s for $1585 USD

I'm sad to see they are only offering $65 USD refunds for people, this doesn't nearly come close to the difference they are charging, not to mention the long term effects of the missing hash.

This is sad ...

Actually it is... 600MHz / 4860GH  * 575MHz = 4657GH

So guess what... They are running with 575MHz instead of 600MHz -> I bet my left hand on it. Cheesy

The price is quite good, I'm in for a batch 2 now. Does anyone have an S7 coupon to sell? Thanks.

yeah but the problem is trying to take a batch 2 running underclocked and bumping the freq will A) void warranty and B) produce a crapton of HW and kill your hashrate over time.. so any hopes of overclocking a batch 2 will probably be out the window
252  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 29, 2015, 04:24:10 PM
People don't realize that they stopped shipping batch 1 because they had this issue with two types of machines (4.86 and 4.66) even in batch 1 as per their email that went to some people. Also, I think that they had a disclaimer for batch 1 that it could be shipped up to 10 days after Sept 30 (or was it 25?). Many people would be upset, though, if they don't ship today or tomorrow.

I hope that what happened is that they noticed that some machines are performing at 4.66, stopped shipping of these machines (and the rest of batch 1), produced more machines, replaced those machines in initial batch 1 that were underperforming with newly produced 4.86 machines, hence some delay in shipping. the underperforming machines from batch 1 might have been renamed "batch 2". the bottom line is that a few days delay in batch shipping 1 might result in those orders having a better chance to be on spec (4.86). This is just my theory.

you probably nailed it, i think this is the case as well.. but unfortunately I believe some of the under-performing batch 1 units did make it out and were shipped (i myself have one)

what's also weird was both of my miners came dusty.. one was way more dusty than the other though with a moth stuck on one of the heatsinks.. not sure if this super dusty moth S7 was the under-performing unit or the good unit as I havent checked to make sure which is which.. I just got them running and tend to not mess with em after.

so the 1 unit I have thats been a pain in the ass so far has dropped to 3.9TH over the weekend (with no dead asic chips) and stock 600 settings.. going to try a hard reboot via PSU and see what happens

still tons of HW errors, im going to drop freq to 593 and see what happens.  BITMAIN replied to me via email and asked what PSU im using, asked to try different pool (im using antpool, go figure) , and asked me to plug in each hash board individually and take screenshots of their hash rates..

only problem with that is it seems to take a couple days for the hashrate to crash on this unit, and I don't really want to waste a week of mining testing on each hash board individually.

hopefully the 593 freq will work out, i could live with 100GH loss instead of 900GH

That is exactly what they told me!  One of mine is running at 4300th/s.  Now I have to troubleshoot and see which board is causing the problem, then probably send it back to bitmain and after 3-4 weeks they will send me another board.  Let me know your findings.

593 freq is running great so far!  4730GH/s avg at almost 7hrs with 0.026% HW ...ill take this all day long over the high HW and lower speed at stock settings, not sure how ours passed QC checks

try the lower freq and see what you get

I see the difference on controller on PCI-e going up.  Does the "new" one have 9 slots for blades still I could not tell from picture looks like still nine i'm estimating after looking at it again..

Is there more details as far as the housing?   I guess I would love to see side by sides if anyone happens to have both.

Yeah I think its 9 slots also on the new one.. but if you look close the little notches in the ribbon cables all go the same way, the older S7 and also the S5+ have the notches going different ways on each side of the  controller
255  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S7 Setup [HD] on: September 28, 2015, 11:11:18 PM
Your photos are made from  the older version of S7.

The new S7 is with different controller (all data cable connectors is in one way) .
Also, the housing is different from from the top. The older housing is from top smooth, like an your pictures.

whats the big difference? is the new controller better?

Your picture is from the older version of S7, manufactured from S5+ leftover components. Controller and housing. Now we have a new and "better" S7.

Except this housing is difference to that of the S5+? The ones I saw certainly weren't extruded aluminium.

New S5+ housing is from aluminium. Exactly the same shape as your old  S7 miner.

damn it looks like mine are the same as Dogie's review unit (the older style I guess?)

thats kind of a rip, I ordered day 1/2 .. do we know what "better" means on the newer S7?

the main tell is the controllers power connector on the older S7 is pointing out the side just like the S5+.. the newer S7 looks like its pointing up

It really depends on the power supply. I use 6 board with one controller.
My first choice was APW3-12-1600-B2 with 4 boards and EVGA G2 1300 for 2 boards and controller.
Lower speed and over 57000 HV with 4 hours.

I left APW3-12-1600-B2  for only  3 boards and for the other three  boards + controller 1x DPS-2000 BB with 10x PCI-E.

Speed is now over 9500 GH/s and HV ten times lower with 4 hours.

hmm interesting.. im running both of them on a 2880w psu with the jabberwock breakout board

after 4 hours at 593freq im at 4720GH and 0.026% HW

If I'm running two on a single 2880w PSU how would I power the controller after the boards, just wait to plug the controller pcie til after I start the PSU?  Is that safe?

My problem unit is only showing 3.60-3.99TH on antpool but my good one shows the 4.8TH, can't check the gui til tomorrow
