241  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Is Bitcoin's Value So Volatile? on: October 26, 2017, 05:02:53 PM
The news have huge impact on bitcoin. It determines the price accordingly. When we hear some country banning Bitcoin, price tumbles when some country legalize it, price appreciates. That was just an example of how news can effect price. Sometimes bulk hodlers deliberately bring drop or rise and control the market. Right now, Bitcoin has demand. Whatever happens in short term, price remain bullish in long term. So at whatever price you buy today, you won't have loss in long term.
242  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why do we keep converting bitcoin back to dollars ? on: October 26, 2017, 04:44:32 PM
The main reason is Bitcoin lacks utility. In most of the countries there are hardly any option available to use Bitcoin in real everyday transactions. Bitcoin is basically a high return yielding investment asset right now. Not really useful as currency TBH. Thus, one need to convert it in fiat for acuatl usage of money. This will change in future when adoption will increases.
243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin cash on: October 11, 2017, 03:30:25 PM
What more you expect from basically an airdropped coin? All the hype related to BCH seems to settle down. Bulk holders played very well with market for almost 2 months and successfully managed to get decent profit and getting rid off their holdings. I don't think BCH will gonna come back, if survives, to >0.1BTC. I might be wrong with my assumptions. But this what usually happens with such coins.
244  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price prediction at the time of hard fork. on: October 11, 2017, 03:15:07 PM
With Altcoins gaining ground once again, it is becoming difficult for Bitcoin to break through. What are your thoughts on the same?
Altcoins are getting back to the show because the price right now which is experiencing a dip due to shifting of Bitcoin for free Bitcoin Gold, is perfect to buy and hodl some potential altcoins. Buying activity usually increases in such cases and so is happening. But along with that Bitcoin will grow too till hard fork if the hard fork you mentioned here is Bitcoin Gold because Segwit2x hardfork might be quite disruptive. Bitcoin should cross $5k by Oct 25 according to my assumptions. Else market is way too tough to predict.
245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin transaction fees fair? on: October 11, 2017, 03:09:44 PM
Right now I'm really stuck with the transaction fee. Because I'm a poor person and $ 1 to 5 $ is a great thing I'll exchange it with our country's money. So the transaction fee for me is not fair but because we can not do it. So let it go, I hope it will be resolved and stop. so that we can freely use bitcoins. Because really much money is missing from me everyday when I go to another wallet
C'Mon, man! You are senior member, you must be aware of the latest trend in fees. There is no need to send transaction fees of $1-$5 for a transaction to happen. The fastest and cheapest transaction fee is currently 140 satoshis/byte. For the median transaction size of 226 bytes, this results in a fee of 31,640 satoshis. That accounts for $1.5. That is fastest transaction fees. Your transaction can very well happen with the fees <$1. It won't even take much time. For blockchain to keep running securely, this much incentive is indeed required for the miners.
246  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to hit the $30.000 mark before 2020 on: October 11, 2017, 02:33:17 PM
One of the user has quoted that the price $30000 is something too much. I never have such a thinking, because on adoption from a single country the price grew as high as $5000. So when more countries make active use of bitcoin, even without legalized manner surely support in the growth and the same might cause the price move higher.
It is somehow exaggerated to speculate such thing because 30k usd price per bitcoin is too much because adoption wont really be too much on 3 years time as of now. We even hardly surpass or break 5k price on 8 years time on bitcoin and presuming on 6x more on its price for the span of 3 years would really be hard for sure.
I think you miscalculated the rate of increase of investors in cryptocurrencies this year. Unless you wouldn't have said that $30k is not possible by 2020 and demand is not so high. $30k is very much possible by 2020 and most probably Bitcoin will be touching that number before the end of 2020. There is huge inflow of investors in particularly Bitcoin this year and this number is only going to multiply in coming years because bitcoin is getting mainstream now. Interest of future investors will automatically increase because of the growth and the return rate that Bitcoin offers. There is a huge market for cryptocurrencies that are potential investors but haven't yet heard of cryptocurrencies. With Bitcoin getting media attention that market is definitely gonna triggered and bring in more investors who will take the price to the moon.
247  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I expect BTC dump before another fork? on: October 10, 2017, 04:16:45 AM
Dumping Bitcoin before Bitcoin Gold fork would be mere stupidity. There will barely be any effect on price because of Bitcoin gold fork. I doubt even miners are seriously considering the Gold fork. Regarding Segwit 2x, I am bit skeptical. I think that fork might bring a dip. I was reading some articles and the outcome of 2x fork is still not very clear since there is no clear majority as for now. But regarding October fork. There is nothing to be panic about.
248  Economy / Economics / Re: Appreciation of bitcoin on: October 10, 2017, 04:10:34 AM
Bitcoin is the best investment asset in terms of profit it has to offer in such a short time period and when it comes to risk involved, risk gradually decreases with increase in holding period. It has beaten all the traditional assets in terms of ROI and the best part is ride has only started. The market cryptocurrencies are focussing is very large and thus demand is set to rise in future which will take the price to moon.
249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin being a top currency on: October 08, 2017, 02:39:13 AM
Bitcoin is a very fast booming and rising currency and I have been hearing about there being a physical bitcoin I mean in the form of a metal. Now if this is possible I would like to know if bitcoin would be a generally accepted means of payment in the next years to come and what are the possibilities of other currencies meeting it( I mean in demand and supply)
Bitcoin enjoys the first mover advantage among cryptocurrencies. There are potentially and technically better altcoins than Bitcoin. But they are no where near to Bitcoin's marketcap or popularity. Regarding its adoption. Indeed the adoption rate will increase with time. This year only, many merchants have started accepting Bitcoin as a payment with Dubai apartment being sold for Bitcoin being the major one. Trend is surely to continue in future.
250  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Surges Above $4400 As World Realizes Jamie Dimon & China Don't Matter on: October 08, 2017, 02:35:22 AM
But what I think is more than China or Jamie Dimon, the bulk holders are the one who took the advantage of these news and drove the price by crushing the panic sellers who usually are small investors. Now when they have successfully increased their holdings by buying at drop, the price is again in uptrend despite of South Korea ICO ban which brought little or no impact on price unlike China.
251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are the Big Gambling sites paying taxes? on: September 07, 2017, 07:30:30 PM
Most of the gambling platform establish an offshore office in countries like Curacao where it is quite easy to register an office by just paying few dollars from sites like this https://www.gaminglicensing.com/ and https://www.gbo-intl.com/

Also can't find mentioned of tax for casino operators here https://www.gamblingsites.org/laws/curacao/
Quote
The fees for a "master" gambling license in Curacao include a 60,000 ANG (or about $34,000) setup fee and then 10,000 ANG (about $5,600) per month for the first two years. After that, the operator can negotiate with the government of Curacao for fees going forward.

they only have to pay $5600 per month to operate.

$34,000 is expensive for setup ,at least for young entrepreneurs. i prefer paying more earnings.
252  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are the Big Gambling sites paying taxes? on: September 06, 2017, 04:49:58 PM
They should be if they want to run legally without hassles. But there are also lots of online gambling sites that are running illegally so those sites can be also tax evaders. Like in my country, there are lot of offices running online gambling but they do not have proper papers, etc. Sometimes they get raided, sometimes they get away with it.

Interesting, can i ask which country are you from?
I don't see why they shouldn't get away with this since all the earnings are in bitcoins, unless they can detect the exchange they are using, or their personal information through the domain.
253  Economy / Gambling discussion / Are the Big Gambling sites paying taxes? on: September 06, 2017, 02:58:41 PM
This had me thinking,
Since its all in cryptocurrencies, do these sites even open a company and declare their earnings?

What is the legal approach here?

Is opening a company more profitable? since paying company tax is usually lower than personal tax?
Also all of this has to be done where online gambling is legal?

Thanks.

This is for educational purposes, thanks for any feedback.

It depends on what gambling types:

Sports Betting - since we don't need some good graphics specs here just to placed a bet and overall it's just a matter of texts, I can do this on mobile mostly.

Dice, Slots, Poker, Roullets - obviously this needs a some internet plugins which most convenient if it will be played on desktop rather than on mobile.

Agreed, do you know how many of the gamblers here are into sports and how many for games they actually play?
BTW, mobile browsers today are more than capable of running the graphics you see on the desktop app, its all up to the developer.

This is for educational purposes, thanks for any feedback.

If you could tell further what do you mean it's for educational purposes, either you need it for your studies or you planning to make a site. Well I use it on both, and that depends where I am. If I am at home or office then desktop, if I am outside mobile. In this current world the site has to work on all the platforms, and I feel people use it on mobile more, cause it's easier and convenient. So I vote for mobile devices. And then lastly it depends how well the site works on mobile.

Look for comment #21 where i gave more info.
256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: On Which device do you Gamble? on: August 29, 2017, 04:50:41 PM
Thanks for all the feedback, i'll bring a little more info.
I'm a CS student doing a little research on the importance of a fluid and responsive mobile version of a website, for websites with "smaller" audience.
by "smaller" i mean smaller than facebook, twitter.

Gambling is an interesting subject because clients need output from the site, and because cryptocurrencies are changing so rapidly people will check their price very often, therefore they will check from their smartphones.
The question im trying to answer is how many users will not use a successful gambling site that doesn't have a fluid and responsive mobile version.

Oh and i have even a bigger question for gamblers after this one Smiley
