Bryce say something about inflation regarding Side Chains  and Uno I don't like.

IMO Bryce should first show on another coin what exactly he is talking about.
He's proposing changes to Uno he has no example for and did not directly and straight forward answer my question 1) ( Is there any evidence that shows sidechains actually are viable and useful longterm?)

He's actually talking about something else and not answering it directly. I'd kindly ask him to show on another coin first what he is talking about.
Pure theory is BS - i'm interested in practical examples.
243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: February 11, 2015, 04:28:22 AM

So what you guys think about this side chains? He says only good things a. Are this Side Chains so perfect?

Depends on if it needs to hardfork or not. I'm not convinced yet. I actually would need to see this work first hand. My position hasn't changed at all so far.

Bryce only saying good things about it is not a surprise (it's his own proposal afterall). So far there is still many questions unanswered.

I'm not getting a very clear or straight forward picture at all.

when UNO is lets say 1000+ dollars whats stopping everyone from selling off their UNO and "cashing out" driving the price down? Whats stopping them from doing this? Wont this in the end drive the price down hard?

people will sell some but others will want to buy. Demand will at some point always be higher than supply (already is) - that's what makes prices go up. Even if it hits 100$ or 1000$ and people sell their coins (of course they will), others will already be lined up and happy to take them from our hands.
It's all about scarcity as suppply and demand make the price. A coin that isn't reasonably scarce will never be worth a lot, that's the law of supply and demand.

Welcome to the idea of Unobtanium.  Wink

Of course when many people or a whale decide to 'cash out' that will drive down prices as supply increases but that will always only be a temporary thing and prices will go back up as soon the 'cashing out' is done.

Gustav brother! You scared away Bryce with so many questions man. Cheesy

Just kidding   Grin that was good questions!

Everyone be prepared with your question list- if you have different questions....

+1

They are the questions that need to be asked.

 Smiley

don't know about you but i don't feel entirely well with the SC-proposal. I just hope Bryce doesn't push too hard for it.
My position would be:

merged mining: yes please but a little later maybe (if others vote for sooner i'll agree with it too) - i'm all for it as raising network security fully makes sense.

sidechains: not so much, honestly. I'd really want to see this work in other coins first and see if it is even useful and safe. I think we won't loose out on anything if we don't follow the flock so fast with it.
Look LTC wants implement it and btc too. Now wait for the drama once the exploit/crack is found and people start to mess with it and LTC and BTC need to hardfork again to undo their changes or repair their broken shit. For my taste it's too complex and not proven/tested enough. I don't trust it right now. I'm ok with waiting for LTC or any other coin to make the first move on that and try it out on their network, wait for the first critiques from the pros, wait for the hackers and crackers to have a go on it and then reevaluate again before actually wanting to see it anywhere near my uno.
I don't care what funding and celebrities dev they have on it. They can't be sure it hasn't bugs before it's not time tested in the wild. All these people like to think greatly of themselves and how genius their new ideas are (just like Butterin who hasn't produced anything working to date. And where is mastercoin today?). Sure they may be good coders and all, but in reality the last word has the hacker who cracks it. This is moneyapplications and need to be military grade secure not some computergame style that breaks down or is cracked 8 weeks after release.

So i'd really want to observe this from a distance for a bit longer. What makes me suspicious is also how they want to push for implementation on the high cap coins and not even announcing a new alt with it to test it. This whole story is strange to me. I would absolutely not agree on SC in Uno before i haven't seen it work from first hand experience and some time to go by for the hackers to try their things.
Then if it proves to be viable i would want to see people actually use it for something else than scams (actually see the usecase).

Let's see what Bryce answers to the questions though. I think the discussion is likely interesting.
I'll probably ask a few follow up questions too.
I'm such a conservative mofo, i know  Roll Eyes

Unlike other more inflationary coins, this is a coin that is not scary to pick up from the dump since low emission makes it sure this coin has value.

Yes, the low supply makes all this good longterm uptrend possible. Uno is all about the value/good price/stable trading - low inflation, you name it.
High sellpressure isn't a thing that can be expected to last for very long periods of time in uno. These bearish episodes run out of steam pretty fast mostly and smart money knows them as an opportunity to enter.  Wink

@gustav, what makes you think it was teenagers?

Think so because of the traffic on the thread and who else should it be? That was a deam weak pump. It has written 'teenage pumpgroup of 10 to 15 people' all over it  Wink

They opperate like this: they see increased interest in a coin, buy in, immediately drive price up over couple of days and then look to exit as fast as they came in as soon they meet some sellpressure.

Seen this already. Not a big deal. Helps shaking out the weak hands like Gekko and provides the longtermers an opportunity to sell high and buy back lower in a short timeframe so it's all sweet. I quite enjoyed it.

Doesn't look so great on the charts, but we'll get over it.

look at cryptsy, they are doing funny things again with the orderbook:

HEADLINES
Andreas Antonopoulos says to give Bitcoin “two years”

translation
sorry about the bear market of 2014, but you wont see $750 until 2017

Why wait for 30 more years for BTC low inflation?
UNO is BTC year 2050

--------------
BTC is going to get forked ...  the fools are saying "We want to be the Money of the Future" ... so that's the cover to fork rather than the obvious logical choice ... buy updated ALTs or launch a new btc2.0 on another chain.

Naah lets just rip the BTC baby into 2 pieces.

The fork is the last nail in the coffin, i tell ya. If they do it, the damage will be enorm.

They basically fork the community too. People are going to dump extreme on that fork if it gets scheduled.  (the funny part is: scalability won't be an issue then and the fork would be obsolete)

We can and should view the 'bloatchain' or 'gavincoin' hard fork effort as simply an attack.
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: February 10, 2015, 05:36:50 AM
"Bitcoins most likely will see $120 but only if it passes the $166 resent bottom, but eventually will level off at $400 to $600 for a long while. This will take altcoins to greater highs around 10 to 50x fold."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPOoF5Cf7TY

Current UNO price ~ 0.02 BTC x 50 = 1 UNO/BTC

I tell you right now: If they dump it sub 200$ they'll dump it sub 100$ too.
By that time you get one or more btc for 1 uno

Btc wasn't supposed to drop below 300$, let alone be in a 14 months bearmarket (likely ends up with 20 months+)

Who wants such a coin that rises for 2 weeks every 2 to 4 years and then drops to hell? Nobody, that's who.

600$ will be a maximum it can do (and actually sustain) after the halving would be my guess. (just because the inflation) - if people actually buy into it again (not sure they will)
... the Gavin hardfork proposal wasn't particularly good for investors confidence too. If they actually would still attempt to do it, that would lead to lasting damage in PR and lots of chaos as more than one fork would exist which would actuallly be supported and maintained by different people.

So that guy actually has it right: alts are the place to be this year. (Maybe not litecoin though, more like UNO Wink )

For how could we come up with a sensible solution if we haven't actually experienced the issue?

THIS is how a healthy mind works.

The pro-forkers are all neurotics in my opinion.

There isn't a problem so what da fuck is everyone on about?

Ok, here's what I'm thinking.  Let's take the UNO show on the road! I've book a bus for a field trip for you guys starting Monday, Feb 2 and going through Friday the 13th!

"CryptoCoinTalk INVASION!"

Bryce Weiner will join us on the UNO Forum on CryptocoinTalk.com and put up with most of your bullshit.  As you know, as much as I love Bitcointalk, for some odd reason Bryce never took a shining to BCT.   BUT, he'll be glad to hang with us for a week on the UNO Forum on Cryptocointalk.com.

I'm planning to be in the Forum at Cryptocointalk.com for next week.  If you want me, that's where I'll be, tossing back hard liquor with BW.

Come join us as we reach out to the community at CryptocoinTalk and spread the love dust.

Are you in???

it's here, right?
