241  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Is there a site like ebay that accepts bitcoins? on: July 14, 2014, 08:36:23 AM
I just don't think there is the demand for this type of site yet to become a success.

bitmit.net was a good site.. very similar to ebay, just one problem, very few products available for sale. not only that, very little traffic for sellers so they aren't encouraged to list more items.

same thing with the likes of cryptothrift.com.  It's almost a catch-22, like i said too early for bitcoin only auction websites.  Give it a year or two, but by this time i would expect ebay to accept bitcoin (perhaps through paypal, who knows)

But give these things time. They'll grow organically. There's a nice little ammount of stuff on Crytothroft and the listings grow daily. I'd rather use that and sell my stuff directly for coin rather than sell it on ebay and get scammed on fees.

What about the above if that counts? Maybe some sort of real world bitcoin treasure hunt would be great gurilla advertising for bitcoin  Cheesy.
243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal surveying about bitcoin. on: June 14, 2014, 12:20:54 PM
I'm glad theyre doing it even though I'm not a fan of PayPal, but I think most of their customers wont even know what bitcoin is.

I'd rather save my bitcoins than spend them now. I'm sure you will be able to buy even more goods for less coins in the future.

Bitcoin is just too difficult to understand for some. I tell loads of people about it but most arent interested or dont get it.

it's also staged, and the producers want their actors to do wild/outrageous things. and cody is not down with that. dave and joe were always reckless, trying to be some GI joe hero guy.. and it's probably by design.

Is it like Bear Grylls?

How can i keep my bookmarks during the Bundle Update?

TOR browser bundle has standalone firefox broswer .

Does it come with any risk of open port that may be listening to some remote malicious service ?

You'll be safe with tor. Get the tails bundle and boot from a usb.

Does look dogy on all fronts.

Yes indeed this is very weird account.

Maybe some bot? or just someone weird... his posts should be reported. Isn't?

Report them then.
250  Other / Off-topic / Re: How, in the end, do you think the world will end? on: April 23, 2014, 08:23:57 PM
I suspect nuclear war is most likely to take place.  Don't think it will be the end but the beginning of a new chapter.

It's unlikely nukes will wipe out the entire planet.
At the moment yes, since there is not really anyone ready to push the button (not even DPRK).
But if there would be a nuclear war big areas would become totally devastated and also become uninhabitable for a very long time. Then many more would probably die in the atomic winter that could occur as well.

Countries might be destroyed or become inhabitable but it's unlikely the planet will.
Not in the essence that the planet will turn to dust no, but it could very well end life on this planet as we know it. Atomic bombs can cause really heavy damage you know, and atomic dust can contaminate places unaffected by the explosion itself as well. It could also cause an atomic winter, which would be really devastating to the people that has survived the war.

How big do the nukes have to be for nuclear winter?

Running is one of the slowest ways to burn calories.

I like running, it fits my lifestyle, but it's almost pointless in regard of weight control.

But it helps relieve stress if you're comfortably equipped.
Since when? HIIT running or cycling is the best and fastest way to burn them.

Yeah cycling and running are great calorie  burners.

Cycling is my favorite exercise.
So nice to be out when the weather is good.  Smiley

I cycle a lot too. Don't bother with public transport.
252  Other / Off-topic / Re: Colonizing Mars on: April 23, 2014, 08:02:27 PM
That's not it at all. It's hypothetical because it's just fantasy based on what's theoretically possible. None of what they suggested has been tested and unlikely ever will.
It will be tested, and Mars will be terraformed. Who the hell wants to live on barrens?
It's a good point. It's not that easy to terraform a planet though. First of all Mars would need a thicker atmosphere, and that's not an easy thing to do. Then we'd have to make the air breathable to us as well which would also be a huge problem.
One day maybe, if we haven't destroyed ourselves before that of course, it might actually be done. Smiley
It won't ever be terraformed or inhabited. It's not feasible or probably even possible at all.
It is possible. It's just very hard to do that, but absolutely possible with the right funding and devotion.
Wikipedia even has a page about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terraforming_of_Mars

Link was already posted.
