241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: September 02, 2016, 10:46:58 PM
beside a new website and some bla bla i dont think u can expect anything to be delivered in september
the market reaction is clear and we will see sub 500 maybe even sub 400 again

dont get me wrong i think FCT have a high potential

but the time to raise and stay high is not here now

coins who have lending added at poloniex

are way more vulnerable to massive sells

think my words when it happens

You realize they are actually making money and have a growing corporate customer base ? Based on that comparison alone vs other alts Factom is undervalued.  If you factor in the real possibility 1 billion entries thats has been discussed with a potential client in the banking industry. At that level, it was explained to me that a FCT would be worth around $400/US. Not trying to hype here, I'm just trying to show the actual potential. Factom is a sleeper because it's so different/business model is a little hard to grasp, and maybe not as sexy.  I think most people haven't made that paradigm shift/realization into its real use potential. Consider its first to market advantage and the small 8 mil float also when others awake. I wouldn't want to not be holding my position trying to catch it on the way up. From all my research this is as solid a crypto as they come. If I've missed something or dead wrong please chime in and let me know, I'm here to get it right.
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: August 10, 2016, 07:26:58 AM
Hard question, how do third party money transmitters get paid? If there is no up-front cost, and it's all backend. What connects the two ? How do money transmitter connect the fiat funds that were paid to the waves platform or end-user? Where or how is it digitized to the block chain to go around swift ? For instance, I'm starting a business and need funding. I create a token on the waves exchange and sell it, so your money transmitters take fiat and release said token. Now the money taken by the transmitter is still fiat ? How is it moved, stored and released back again as fiat to the end token seller ? And how is the transmitter paid for their role ?  If anything the exchange  would  have to have bank account, that's on swift ? I'm confused maybe someone can help explain .. Thanks

Gateways are issuing fiat assets on the platform by themselves, while depositing fiat it is being converted to corresponding fiat asset on the platform, you are creating asset and doing crowdfunding next with fiat or BTC assets, while withdrawing fiat your fiat asset is being converted the same by gateway to fiat.

Okay.. Help please? Gateways are issuing fiat assets ?  Please walk me through a real world example. I'm totally confused. I'm a gateway I have 10k in fiat, how do I put that asset on to the platform?

ok.. another question? I guess the biggest part, where is this fiat being kept ? and how is it being accounted for in relation to created assets ?

Btw thanks in advance

You're not a gateway you are a user. A gateway is an exchange or a financial institution that agrees to be an issuer of any asset in the Waves platform that is backed by the asset you have. For example you have bitcoins that you want to trade in Waves. All you have to do is deposit your bitcoins to a gateway then from there transfer your bitcoins to your Waves wallet.

The bitcoins in your wallet are not actual bitcoins. They are merely a token that represents your bitcoins. Your real bitcoins are still held by the gateway where you deposited your bitcoins.

To find a working example look at Ripple. They are using a gateway system also which I think where Waves copied their system. Even the name is almost the same. Get it? Waves, Ripple. Smiley

Yeah, I was using the "I'm a gateway" as a hypothetical example. I understand the BTC relationship. Maybe I'm over thinking this.  I will check out Ripple.. After watching the last ICO video I was under the impression, Waves was going to somehow subvert the banking system when dealing with fiat. I see that's not the case. Users and gateways will convert fiat before entering the waves platform by using already established on ramps.  The off ramps ? I guess I need to look at Ripple.

Example with Bitcoin we understand the relationship to fiat, it was mined and only so 21 million will be ever created, and the markets help determine the value. The on ramps, and off ramps for fiat are exchanges which are linked to banks. I can't seem to wrap my head around the Waves model for some reason.

Btw thanks in advance

Still waiting for the swap how long does it normally take?

I locked in my new address from platform, to the lite wallet. How long does it take for a transfer to go through? Is it still dev manual, or main-net auto ? It's been about an hour, or so?
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: June 04, 2016, 05:12:47 AM

yes I agree.

dont forget the second direction Sasha has set out "crowdfunding"
he says the first one of a decentralized exchange (probably run by the waves team will be coming shortly) probably fairly quickly as he already has experience in this field with Next tokens and coinami, so this would basically be a modrnized version of what JL777 and Next had had in mind a couple years ago, but with experience behind it..

wonder what will come after that.

they seem to be doing great making its platform development quicker but do you think it would take about a year or two before waves going to skyrocket?

depends on their timeframe, I would guess the capital they have aquired would expidite their development, so maybe a 3 month timeline until a major app/crowdfund is released.  Once one successful/useful  crowdfund has taken place there will probably be more, if these copycat crowdfunds take place then therre may be a snowball effect.

that being said, if nothing major is released within this quarter we may be looking at a different model where a pump and dump will occur using ICO funds in 6- 12 months.  this wouldnt occur until after the halving of bitcoin takes effect and people are trying to find something to put their BTC into.

same goes for all interesting altcoins, but with varying degrees due to their financial liquidity.

Lisk seem to be in that situation, i assume their development has started already as they now build the wall and grows gradually. 3 months isn't that long so users could wait i suppose.
I've once suggest few days ago to postponed the release until halving ends, do you think its a better idea?

No I dont, in fact there will probably be a dip in BTC price post halving, before the effects of the deflation hit the speculative price increase that has happenned so far.

This isnt about BTC price though, its about building a system where Waves becomes the middle coin to multifiat/crypto exchanges for the purpose of funding many large projects.
The reason to hold Waves will (assumably) to create a liquid token transfer while creating a node based POS that will receive compensation through transaction fees caused by these crowdfunding ICO's.

make cents?  it should

Ok.. I'm trying to follow what you're saying. So basically this is kind of the same as Digix except, there is 100 million tokens, instead of Digix's limited amount, and it's not backed by gold. Just people holding it as liquidity ?

was that question baited?, or serious?  dont feel like going into a long winded conversation about wealth if its just there so you can throw a bone to a coin Digix(I know nothing about this coin and can only assume it has some liquidity due to its promise of being gold backed, basically another form of futures gold trading without oversight)
, but if this is a serious question please refine it a bit more so I can try to answer it better.

Yeah.. It's a question?  The last response was that waves, was basically a place holder between, transfers of different crypto's and fiat/cash. A place holder would be something thats liquid. Like Gold ? Or something easily transferable that would retain said value, and be stable through a holding period or transfer.

Now that Waves has been launched, I guess that I'm free to remove the signature, right ? Or do I have to wait for the bounties to be paid ?
FROM SLACK

ahmedashraf 11:05 AM @cryptospreader: You can remove the signature as soon as you receive your bounty

he said this? he should have posted this here. because when people saw the finalized spreadsheet, that means final.
the rest of those that removed the signature, can't get thier bounties?  Shocked

i agree he should have posted it here since many people are asking about the signature campaign
Would they be able to get their bounty if they choose to remove their wave sig even before they received their bounties?

People be carefull.. I won't get my signature bounty - this is the answer from WavesSignature:

!!! WARNING: This user is a newbie. If you are expecting a message from a more veteran member, then this is an imposter !!!

Hello,

Sadly, you've broken the signature campaign rules by removing the signature before claiming the bounty.

Ok. So I made a mistake ot not; on the signature rules pages there was no rule that you have to keep signature until the end, just to have 50 post! I had 50 post.
Now that I know that I will not get any signature Bounty will my part be divided to other luckier users or not!? I truly hope that they will....

edited.. Never mind Smiley

any justice is better than none, especially in the crypto world.

I don't see any justice here. Some kids stole money from a scammer in the Czech Republic, and now the USG stole everything for themselves.

Sounds like KYC rules is the main reason they got busted. Trying to convert BTC to a bank account. The large amount of money got reported to LE agencies.

This sounds like Parallel Construction (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_construction) to me

I see your point.. The US mafia got their cut.
Parallel construction, Yes! Could be for sure. That is some scary, 1984 big brother stuff.

This last minute acceleration in buying looks like insiders buying with borrowed bitcoins ... they knew this ICO was successful days ago so they've got plenty of ICO funds to pay back loans. I just don't believe FOMO explains the last 24 hour surge

FOMO or ?   Crazy how fast this is moving, in the last few hours.
252  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should there be public awareness campaigns to warn new users about Ponzi schemes on: June 01, 2016, 01:43:58 AM
It probably won't do much good. However I still think it's better to put a SURGEONS GENERAL PONZI WARNING  on things that need it. Most people still smoke with such warnings, but when they die of lung cancer. They can't blame anyone else, but themselves.
253  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: June 01, 2016, 01:22:16 AM
1 BTC. After 20 years it will be worth $100000  Grin

Couldn't have said it better myself.. Actually I think the webot has predicted, BTC will be worth this much. It said something like wallets will be passed down, as generational wealth. In the future BTC will be discussed in millibits / multi-bit terms.
254  Economy / Economics / Re: How too get rich on: June 01, 2016, 01:11:17 AM
Start by building a solar farm, with your returns then invest in robots, and batteries.  Using your solar farm, to charge up the batteries for the robots you've invested in. Program the robots to build other robots, and houses. Now you have a small army, that can also build houses. Find a cheap island, or buy up the desert. Then start your own city or country with your free energy, and robot labor. Done! lol  Grin
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The DAO on: June 01, 2016, 12:59:08 AM
Keep an eye on this one! "Thing's in nature don't, move or grow this fast". That's a paraphrased quote from Jeff Bezos talking about the internet pre Amazon.  I think it applies to BTC, Ethereum, and The DAO.
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What can waves do that ethereum can't? on: June 01, 2016, 12:48:31 AM
Decentralised exchange isnt easy to implement on ethereum, they encounter problems, its going to be very costly to do market making with the usual bid and ask structur, if u move your order it will cost u a lot actually. Its a one tier system, Waves wants to implement such a system where a node executes only what it needs to execute making it more practical.

On Ethereum possibly because of the gas price, however on the Eth platform couldn't you just create a token like the DAO, and do it?  Either way I like them both.
257  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: No Mining = End of Bitcoin? on: June 01, 2016, 12:33:52 AM
Makes you think.  If miner's stop mining, as the amount of miners drop off, so would the difficulty. Allowing fewer miners to complete for the same amount of transactions. Difficulty is part of the algorithm, it's artificial.
258  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I earn money in this forum? on: May 31, 2016, 10:15:37 PM
If you want to get all new age with things.  The Law of Compensation is the Universal Law which ... When you give freely from the heart, you receive a ten-fold return from the universe. I'm paraphrasing here, but if you put out in the world real value, and someone else benefits from it. This value will be returned to you a few times fold in some way. So if you can help others by using a forum, and solving a problem, even for free it will be returned to you in some way.  Is this true ??  I don't know, maybe? Experiment, and see? What do have to lose?
