242  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Governments control Bitcoin? on: February 05, 2014, 04:15:49 PM
Governments can control the flow of information, it's enough to prevent Bitcoin from ever becoming widely adopted in a world of sheeple.
How do you see the information controls playing out? Thanks.

Playing out great, people still believe the war on terrorism, still see the pride in dying for the corporate military halfway across the world, still believe 9/11 wasn't a conspiracy.

Peoples mindsets are being controlled on a wide scale with propaganda and social networks are used to generate a response from the public.

245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: offline bitcoins + NFC = the end of era of current financial system (?) on: January 26, 2014, 04:32:44 AM
I'm not sure you answered my question. When you receive tokens from somebody, how can you be sure that they have not been duplicated. Also, how can you be sure that they have not been spent at times when you don't have access to the block chain?

It doesn't accomplish it by 21 century social means, instead if accomplishes it by 19 century dollar printing essentially. They make dollars and expect all forgeries to be slightly different.
246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: offline bitcoins + NFC = the end of era of current financial system (?) on: January 26, 2014, 04:19:09 AM
Using phones as wallets is plain stupid

The keys are not stored on the phone alone.  It stores the key on a microSD smart card.  (Actually, it uses a split key system, which requires both the phone and the SD card to recover the key-- which is even safer-- you can read about it here: http://www.othercoin.com/OtherCoin.pdf )

It's just retarded, there is no need to speculate or explain anything, the very concept is extremely stupid on a fundamental level. Should every person on earth who wants to use crypto in person also have a phone? Do you know how long the battery lasts for modern phones?

In the future there will be small plastic computers the width of a paper bill that you would swipe against each other in order to pay, they will be so cheap to manufacture that you could simply swipe your reserves to a new bill instead of recharging, they would also be so efficient that you would be able to recharge them by manual means.

248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Bitcoin (protocol) kill file sharing? on: January 23, 2014, 03:47:13 AM
You could certainly implement a PoS system in regards to file sharing, you would need to explicitly state that you want to run an app if it has been signed by someone with a low balance in his Bitcoin address.

251  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best time to invest in BTC??? on: January 06, 2014, 03:02:18 PM
Wait for the next inevitable attack on BTC by the gov, wait for all the investors/speculators and other trash to cash out, buy low then wait for fellow anarchists at heart to buy low as well.

Vladimir
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=370839

 Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

А я хочу купить золотой слиток по цене медного. Пожалуйста не забудьте рассказать нам как все это закончилось.

П.С. если кто-то ищет реального программиста / менеджера пишите мне в ПМ.

254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a new way to embrace taxes on: January 04, 2014, 03:21:57 AM
I have always held rather similar beliefs, you have a government website with a series of categories, every category has a subcategory down to the lowest levels so you can subscribe or unsubscribe as you please, so if for example you back up the law that prohibits people from smoking in your local park you can subscribe to that service, if enough people subscribe widespread enforcement could then take place but you would pay higher taxes in exchange for the "service".

You would also have a choice between different service providers such as policing service, firefighters and so on, you would chose your police the same way you chose your internet provider. Taxes are really payments to the government in exchange for services.

This is fundamentally superior than coercing the potentially wise 49% for paying for useless wars of the 51% and favors both evolution and natural selection, this neo-anarchistic approach is also trivial to implement.
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tranparency on: January 04, 2014, 03:02:48 AM
A very important and often overlooked measure in securing your bitcoin is keeping your bitcoin related activity secret.  If my bitcoin were being held in an insured vault requiring my identification to move it than this wouldn't be such an issue.   You are your own bank, you can hang a sign around your neck and advertise it, I wouldn't advise it.

+1

Imagine if you buy a Bitcoin today, go public with your identity then Bitcoin coupled with the inflation of USD becomes worth 10k, 100k, one mill, your head will become more and more profitable yet your identity will be set in stone to roll back and retrieve.
256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Automating BTC withdrawal on: January 03, 2014, 07:01:33 PM
I can see something like this being done, the user signs a message moving BTC from one address to another and a service broadcasts it at a scheduled time.

258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin isn't worth Crap on: January 02, 2014, 11:19:46 PM
What uses does the USD have? You can't make it into clothes, you can't eat it, you can't make a fire, you can't even wipe your ass with it since that would be illegal and highly uncomfortable. Had we thrown you into an isolated community somewhere on an island with a million dollars in paper they would be just as worthless as paper wallets not to mention that most people that actually studied finance and back up the dollar believe that inflation is great since it encourages spending, Bitcoin is guaranteed to deflate.

The only people that still doubt BTC are the ones living in states with heavily bank influenced media like Israel, that coupled with the dumb echos of "OMGISHHH BLACK MERKETZ BTC FINNA BE ELLEGALL" proves to be fatal to the stupid masses.
259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Monster transaction: 39016 BTC!! on: January 02, 2014, 07:07:49 PM
Might be (or might not be, just speculating) related to: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=393549.0

Such a large fund won't market-buy coins on exchanges, but arrange for its acquisitions to be done off the books, possibly striking deals with early adopters.

Ya, you just look up early adopters in the yellow pages. Then when you get a hold of them you say, hey you haven't sold for years now and I want to buy a bunch which will probably drive the price up. The increase in price will then bring on a bunch more buying from speculators thus increasing the price even more, but will you sell to me now off the books?

Where do you guys dream this shit up?

Early adopters would like to use some of their coins for some of life's little expenses like mining farms, mortgages, and lambos, and there's not exactly a lot of places to easily exchange $1M worth of coins. Working with a fund to exchange those coins for fresh investor USD is a lot cleaner and quicker than using the regular bitcoin exchanges.

"Cashing out" from BTC is a concept people need to leave behind, it's 2014! You should be cashing out of USD and buying farms and lambos with BTC.
