Gamemaster announcement - IPO for White Wine item dividend shares - 24 hours
In this IPO the share price is 5 mil per share. Minimum subscription is 20 shares (100 mil) however.

Syksy would also like to buy 20 shares.

I needed to explain some fundamentals in another place, so it could be warranted to repeat them here. Oldies have heard about them many times, but I have got the impression that there are some new ones seeking to make sense of it.

Thank you, I for one found this (along with your "Liquid investments in the game") highly useful, as I am still a newcomer to the game. In my opinion this, and similar posts, could already be sticky'd or incorporated to in-/out-game wikis as-is copy-pasted. Right now the initial monero investment is perhaps not the biggest challenge for a newcomer - understanding CK, its fundamentals and how to properly enter and operate in it were more challenging at least for me.

Wohoo, congratulations everyone! Cheesy

Aye, I understand and agree,
that due to the tightly-knit nature of CryptoKingdom and Monero itself, there is (and should be) inevitably an advantage for those who will be able to and willing to pay real hard Monero for the game. I'm just thinking that I would like to think, that there's still a theoretical possibility that even a free2play-player could advance to at least "midgame", and have lots of interesting things to do. But this would of course require considerable time and skill effort, which would be comparable I guess to spending Monero in the first place.

But like it was already pointed out, these two different player archetypes may have different aims altogether in the game, so it sounds good enough to me Smiley

As a side note - is this thread going to be more of a blog where you're laying out plans for the future, or are you also encouraging us to pitch in design ideas and such?
245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom Game Design on: October 13, 2015, 06:32:44 PM
From preliminary reading (since there's a lot had to skim over in haste and I have no experience of the game in addition to the preliminary Ultima testing), a lot of these seem like well designed points!

Out of curiosity - every great game will create something new, combine and refine good mechanics from the old in a novel way, and also borrow established but good practices from existing games - I'd be interested in hearing what inspires these development ideas. You've mentioned multiple times that now it's time to move to "Civilization"-phase; what other games or sources (board games, aspects in real life) inspire you?

If I may, I also have few games that might provoke your curiosity (you probably have played many of them already, just mentioning); for example,
- EVE Online as an example of a player-driven, sustaining universe where the players create the world and economics; skill build in real world time
- Multiple games by Paradox Studios, such as Europa Universalis IV or Crusader Kings II, where the politics and intrinsic systems of history (both real and fictional) are combined
- Civilization, obviously, although I've always found economics rather redundant in Sid's games. The problem in Sid's games I guess is that they (Firaxis) try to cater to a very large audience, so they have to be average on every respect and can't really specialize very well in just one specific field.
- Story-telling-wise I just recently bought a good oldie called the King of Dragon Pass, where a world with its own history is created in an immersive way

My only concern here is that if moneros are transformable to skill points (character attributes i.e. looks, strength, etc), I would like to see that the there's no overwhelming pay2win-aspect. For example, an able player with very little to no investment should at least in theory be able to reach, in the long run, if not the highest levels at least respectable levels within the social hierarchy. By the sweat of their brow they shall earn their title I'd say Smiley

Kind regards,
Syksy

Concordantly, thanks for stepping up! It helps to allocate the vast required effort to multiple people and have several eager people step up Smiley

Out of curiousity, what language is CryptoKingdom coded in and would you like to have external people (such as myself) try commit also new things to the game?
I work in bioinformatics (main languages R and Matlab), but am adept also in C, C#, Java and Python, in case git commits would be appreciated from others as well.

My communication goes offline now. If I write something, they are long and far-reaching plans about the future, or very short announcements that you have to be able to understand.

Cheers! Thanks once again for making all this possible, I can imagine these latest days and weeks being super hectic. Even from a players' perspective (that comes outside of the community) it feels like a magnificent million building blocks moving into place bit by bit.

It's already looking really great, and as you can notice from the enthusiasm of the people around here, there's great promise of a thriving community!

The Town Council just made a decision to designate the current environment in cryptokingdom.me TEST. This means that the changes in item balances, including money, will be erased and data in this table rolled back to the situation right after migration (it is essentially the same as still shown in GoogleDB /F_OWN, but changing that will nevertheless no more change the balance as it is a separate source).

I think this sounds very reasonable, although it does make testing a bit less motivating as it's not permanent. But I just got myself a brand new, fancy red suit now then Smiley

Is there a demo we can download or some screenshots or something?

The game is currently at https://cryptokingdom.me/
but I think it's currently in semi-closed beta (rpietila knows); you can explore around in anonymous mode but I don't think the registration is open yet.

I'm getting the same error. I'm guessing that trading in the market is under a lockdown until they fix the reported few bugs and revert a few funky transactions.

This is forwarded to PJ, and all trades that have exploited it will be reversed. Thank you for finding it, I will send some reward when I wake up!

Cheers, good night!

EDIT:
I removed my bug report, devs are aware of it and working on it.

Dear co-habitants of the CryptoKingdom,

I am happy to announce that I am now also active in Ultima and figured out the basic syntax of the Agora Marketplace!

I have placed bids on a large variety of interesting items; namely due to my scholarly background, I have placed bids on numerous manuscripts and books, as well as some metal compounds. Anything related to science, alchemy or the history and structure of CryptoKingdom are of great interest to me as a practicer of datamancery.

I apologize if the bids on the literature are awkward (or even insulting to His Majesty, in this case my sincere apologies) in the light of their historical and social importance to the CryptoKingdom - I simply did not have a comparison point and wished to place a starting bid. My prices are negotiable, should any of these interesting pieces of literature become available.

Kind regards,
Datamancer Syksy

No problem, since you are authenticated by email, I will send the temp password to you directly without this preliminary step of "waking you up".

The BCT PM round now is for the reason that many accounts have not been actively played for months.

Roger that, thanks a lot!
Simultaneously eagerly looking forward to it, but also horrified of the what has happened during the plague Smiley
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: October 03, 2015, 04:00:57 PM

The PMs to all accountholders have been sent, and about 50 accounts have been claimed in the first 4 hours. This does not even include all the daily active players. In my estimate, about 1-2% of the Crypto Kingdom assets remain unclaimed after a few days. The owners have until December 17th, to claim them, after which we thank you for support and spend the assets for marketing. Several attempts to reach the owner will be tried meanwhile, with "last active" being the guide. (If a BCT account has been active yet does not reply to PMs for months, he is judged to have donated the CK account to the game. If he is not even active in BCT for months, what can we do?)

Heya!
I'm eagerly looking for a chance to get to play myself as well, am I by any chance missing something since I haven't obtained an account claim request yet (e-mail or a PM in the forums here)? Sorry, don't mean to poke you, but I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be included in these.
Reading here daily on all the excitement I'm missing on Smiley

Best regards,
Datamancer Syksy

[You discover an exotic-looking papyrus stapled to a suitable sign post near the city center]

Dear honorable leaders and co-habitants of the Crypto Kingdom,

I am Syksy the Datamancer (previously referred to as 'TDL' a few posts ago by 'rpietila'). I just recently arrived with my meager caravan from a land far to the East, after hearing rumors and seeing signs of a great future event called the Ultima for the Crypto Kingdom, which provoked my interest in coming to learn of your ways. By trading some exotic goods that I brought along, I managed to obtain a chunk of land and a few humble abodes, where I hope to start practicing my strange arts of datamancery. I officially settled in Borough 4 and am looking forward to getting to know my fellow neighbors better and to learn more of your kingdom! Smiley

While I could not afford to bring many valuable gifts to the leaders and wisemen of your great kingdom, I hope to bring some future words and tricks of wisdom. At my mystical country far East, I studied the arcane language R ( https://www.r-project.org/ ), and am adept in this complex art of data trickery, foresight and mystical visualizations of strange phenomena. I offer my services openly to those that may require such, if I am not too pre-occupied in mumbling and arguing with myself inside my head.

I can assure you, datamancery is a completely harmless arcane art, and at best may provide wisdom, and at worst will provide only random ramblings, which should not harm anybody. Any strange lights and flickers occurring near my abode at Borough 4 should not be of any concern, as I am most likely only performing some (non-explosive, non-flammative) alchemical experiments and simulations to better grasp insight to the ways of your lands.

Yours truly,
Syksy the Datamancer
