Ah the promotion of you and of the Prince Royal seem to have come at a bad time with the announcement of the plague coming directly afterwards 

Such is life, however. On behalf of the one honored, we thank you (Church will hopefully also react when they have time from the beer distribution).

The Prince Royal is planning an opulent party to celebrate his appointment. It would be held when the plague has ended. It would coincide with the royal Migration party, more about this in the next announcement.


In the haste of trying to find a gift to give to OZ for his promotion (not an easy task even for a King to find something OZ does not have in sufficient quantity, to match even the crumbs of his magnanimousness..) we postponed the gifting altogether. Now, inspired by the above, we:

- Give 20,000 CKG to the Prince Royal (since they are Royal funds and we are just guardians, everyone)

- Give 5,000 CKG to James Daniel (he is a minor until 1614, so this is kept with the monarch until that)

- Give 1,000*W1600M outright to boost the character healths in the honor of H(S)H The Prince of OZ (the gift is part of the previously announced 3,000 bottles)

- Give 1*CLXII to each character who is 100 years or more old, and does not already have at least 1 bottle, in the honor of the Marquess of Grass

The prices of carriages are such cheap, and situation in the Kingdom such peaceful, that it is well suitable for Masters to buy a car like they did in postwar Europe. Just remember that it does not move without 2 trained horses, which can be bought from the Fluffy Pony.

Schedule for the weekend

It is again full moon, so the migration has been scheduled for the weekend.

- Today(Thu) I send the PMs announcing that you can take control of your Ultima account or leave it to wm's (Jacket proposed the title "health manager" because seldom is the bulk of the job about wealth).
- Tomorrow(Fri) after the "deliberate drinking" deadline (noon) the nonclaimed accounts will be given to wm's. Many will still wake up and possess theirs later, in this case from the wm.
- A good chance to buy the drinks for the plague evaluation, the wm will do for those who did not possess their accounts.
- Year change will jump from 1606 to 1608 with double cost/payout script.
- Health challenge will be admin-evaluated Saturday afternoon and also the rest of the year change happening latest then.
- Database will be frozen and migrated to Ultima.
- People will be given their individual accounts on Sunday.

Ultima development is more modular and transparent than before. The near-term prioritisation has been updated based on player wishes:

1. Ensuring the integrity of the data, fixing the urgent issues arising from actual play by the characters
2. Finishing the New Player Login / EXP / Tutorial-push-message module
3. Supplying enough tools to conduct year change into 1609 next weekend (mostly manual but tools still)
4. Finishing the API
5. Fixing the matching script in the exchange.

We can give estimates, but will forsake the use of larger release packages and fixed release dates from now on (track record is pretty bad). Due to modularity and agile development, we can release all new features in very small pieces, even in every 1-2 weeks, directly to the game, without disturbing our work flow.

The estimate to get all of the above done is 2-3 weeks, counting from Saturday. Then our game would be having the following versions' functions (according to the original dev schedule from 2014):

1. Ancients <- more than original, eg. corporations were originally in v.6
2. Online <- more than original spex, eg. freesize lots
3. Sandbox <- more than original, eg. command line in addition to API
4. Economy <- more than original, eg. items management originally in v.7-8

And not yet that of the following:
5. Skills and Businesses <- this includes the subgame formulas, which were added to Pocket Economy in January and hijacked the Economy development, later scrapped
6. Health and Sustenance <- many of the concepts have been experimented with already
7. Countryside
8. Beyond <- the exact naming and numbering has varied constantly, but now we will intend to get rid of it and rather think in modules.

So, originally the ancient era was scheduled to last 100 days, which would be enough to reach Economy. Now it looks like that the corresponding features will be developed in 80-90 days, starting from scratch. It is nice to know that our original estimates were not wrong as such, we just had very bad luck.

Hi all,

The PMs to all accountholders have been sent, and about 50 accounts have been claimed in the first 4 hours. This does not even include all the daily active players. In my estimate, about 1-2% of the Crypto Kingdom assets remain unclaimed after a few days. The owners have until December 17th, to claim them, after which we thank you for support and spend the assets for marketing. Several attempts to reach the owner will be tried meanwhile, with "last active" being the guide. (If a BCT account has been active yet does not reply to PMs for months, he is judged to have donated the CK account to the game. If he is not even active in BCT for months, what can we do?)

The Town appointed wealth (or health) managers start their job to manage the unclaimed accounts tomorrow. Their mission statement is as follows:
- Arrange living conditions according to the level, status and means. Acquire houses, suits, carriages, later other items. Whatever is customary and also benefits wellbeing and promotions etc.
- Keep the character alive by drinking. In the advanced age this may be costly as well, but this is to mimic what people do when they have gold coin in their hand and the choice is to buy medicine or die.
- Make wise investment choices. Some events (such as maturing of existing bonds) give large cash flows, and these will be reinvested to liquid assets to produce more cash flows. Active investing is not possible due to limited time.

If you have a personally appointed wealth manager, the contract continues unchanged. It is a private deal between you and the manager and from the game point of view is not relevant. We have always had such arrangements, and in the future (especially with Countryside bringing more management challenges but no more time to the key players) will have even more.

It is worth emphasizing that every character has its own account, therefore players who also are CEOs in a corp, need to log out and in to play as the corp. If you are a wealth manager, you have the keys to multiple accounts and manually logout and in to each of them to perform actions.

The schedule is that plague health challenge will be solved Saturday afternoon. Then the year change script will be run (with as many as possible actions having happened in advance). Then Sir Zechariah, The Prince Royal is organizing a great party to celebrate his nomination to the Heir Apparent, party is overshadowed by the plague of course especially if people have died. This party doubles as the Ultima release celebration.

The migration itself has been practiced numerous times - we have imported the data at least weekly for a long time already. Now we aim to do it the final time concerning /CHAR, /ITEMS, /F_OWN and /LOT. Buildings will continue in google DB because it is currently the most handy editor to get them to the game, and the arrangement will continue for some time because of the player votes concerning what they truly feel is important.

In the very beginning, there is somewhat little to play in the game, since health challenges are done for a few years, and building is essentially unchanged from the google version. In just a few days we get the new player registration and login to work, and then the EXP, which allows scripted actions and nice bonuses for playtime. API is also not a distant thing because it has been carried in the design all the time and mainly lacks documentation. From here, the game gradually takes shape

Urgent information concerning the plague:

1. If you have claimed your account, you will not get a wealth manager, which means that there is nobody to buy you drinks in advance before the evaluation of the health challenge. We do our utmost to have enough drinks to buy during the evaluation, and I have the authority to spend your money on them. It is nevertheless very preferable if you take command of your character right here as you read this, the benefits include 1) save money 2) save health 3) learn the game 4) fun.

2. If you have not claimed your account, the wealth manager will take care of you.

3. I am extremely happy that so many of the active players have really taken the time to consider the distribution of drinks, so that they can benefit the most, in this time of impending health disaster. But the sales of the poor man's bread - BEER and MEAD - are still halted. The Church and Town need to step up and take the effort to think how they can save lives with the efficient distribution and how to organize it. I am not doing it for you. I hope this would have happened already since the deadline for voluntary drinking is in 15 hours!

4. The wealth managers will be taking command only after the voluntary drinking. The voluntary drinking is a post sent to this thread explaining what drinks from your inventory (max 400 bottles) you drink and why and what other measures you take to combat plague. Needless to say, typically it pays off to participate in these...

I wish to repost this. It is still possible to signup (PM me). The event as the first anniversary, in the Royal Palace, and right after the release of the long-awaited online version is certainly one of its kind!

The First Real-Anniversary of Crypto Kingdom and the Real-Party in Real-Malla



Many concepts, things and people in Crypto Kingdom have their type in real life (IRL). The type of the Royal Palace in 1-C is situated in Estonia, about 1 hour to the east of Tallinn and the airport. The earliest mentions of the Manor of Real-Malla are from the 1400s, and similarly the Royal Palace was constructed in 1432-1446.

To celebrate the real-anniversary, a real-party is held in the real-palace. Terms: players of the noble characters of Crypto Kingdom are eligible to attend. The commoners are required to apply, because the capacity of attendance is limited.

The main event will be held in the day of anniversary, 2015-10-10. There is no entrance fee, no room fee (for maximum of 2 nights, otherwise hotel rates apply) and also the Grand Dinner will be served with wines at the King's pleasure. Dress code is noble/festive, and Royal robes may be worn by those who have them. We trust in the gift economy to take care of the practicalities.

The Manor has been visited by many of the players in the past (incl. Duke of NL, Prince of Forte Spagnolo, Prince of Soul, The Bishop, Roopatra, Sir Heimo, Lord Thud, Knight serje, Wizard Dev PJ, Master nikke1 and others), so we look forward to a happy reunion with the oldtimers and the new ones. There will be Caviar and Foie Gras, tender meats, cognac, rum, vodka and the choicest of wines from the Wine Cellar (separate building to the right from the Manor House).

The distress in which our beloved Kingdom had fallen brought back the memory of strange tales Angus had heard while traveling the distant lands to the south. He pondered the unusual tales for a long time. During his last voyage he heard an old man tell a story of when he was just a little boy. Terrible times when Death had spread throughout the land. The old man blamed the foul air that emanated from those who fell victim to the disease itself. From whence it came, nobody knew.

Angus stared at the moth-eaten old page in his lap.

It was a sketch the old man had drawn of a protection against the deadly miasma. "Was he just a crazy old man?" Angus decided he must reach at least those who would risk their lives to take care of the ill. It didn't matter if his countryman would look at him the way he looked at that odd old man while he told his grim tale.

But as soon as he went past the door toward the church he stopped and entered his home again. He still didn't have a coach, it was madness to make the journey afoot. While trying to summon the needed courage his gaze fell upon the unopened bottle of V.S. Cognac on the table. He felt an irresistible urge to take a swig of the fragrant spirit. When he opened the bottle a thought raced through his mind. "What if..."

Angus took a big gulp and started to sprinkle the walls, floors and rough-hewn furniture of his humble home. He then turned the bottle over on himself and rubbed the precious liquid deep unto his skin and hair and rushed out the door...

The hour is upon us...

Marquess noms looked around at the kingdom, one that was tainted with the smell of the black death.   He had been residing in his summer palace in 2-S, but decided that it would be smarter to move from that area-nobody wants to be close in proximity to fluffy pony horses at this time!  He had his loyal housemaids move all of the supply of wine and dark spirits into his carriage and set off for his house in 5-E. His reasoning was this: If he could keep a minimum of 40 meters away from all other people during this time of crisis, perhaps he would be able to better fend off the dark spirits--with dark spirits.



Before he arrived, he had his butler go through the painstaking task of killing each and every rat that was on the property and burn the carcasses in the empty lot next door.  He then instructed his housemaids to pack all of his clean clothes in mint-treated cloth, packed in the naturally bacterial-resistant cedar chests that he had commissioned a few years prior. At the time these seemed somewhat pointless as he had nice mahogony and teak chests of drawers and closets. He hoped that the mint that he had spread around the house would help ward off any fleas that might be able to infect him. He made a mental note to thank Zenon for the information that cedar had extra properties besides a building material, something that they had discussed in the Gilded Goose some time ago.





Sphericon company had been sitting dormant for some time, so he stationed them around his house in the empty lots nearby in order to keep all potential victims away from the Marquess. They were also given the same kinds of clothing preservation techniques that The Marquess had employed (cedar, mint, etc).  He implored them to keep fires burning, even as it changed from spring to summer, as it would help to ward off the stray  Firmicutes that may be lurking.



Armed to the teeth with fresh clothes, many spirits, wines,  beers, and silver water, as well as an army to keep him separated from other humans, The Marquess finally felt that he had done everything in his power to try to stay healthy during this trying time.  He couldn't help think about those who were living in borough 4, and how they might be at risk of contracting conditions related to living in the swamp.  A shiver went down his spine and he sent out some servants to the 4th borough to try to warn those who still residing there...

Naturalist Mooo moves his residence to the less populated 2-N borough, his recently acquired 2-N-N5 summer house, in the hopes that an out of the way location coupled with a newly built development will be less conducice to the plague vectors.

Mooo will take good care to burn all waste in a corner of the property, and prepares a first selection of drinks for the coming years:
