Instead of starting this thread, you could have posted in the very first thread in the Newbies forum: "Official Newbie BitInstant Support Thread (Active Customer Support)"

The guy keeps making mistakes, forgetting stuff, and he doesn't really know how to use the software. This is a better one:

Also, it may also be helpful to know that GPG is the open source version of PGP.

243  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mixing bitcoins could make things worse for you! on: December 04, 2012, 04:07:46 AM
I see a lot of people in this forum placing a wallet addresses in their signature or in posts they make when asking for donations etc. If I am thinking about this correctly, potentially if you used one of these wallet addresses here (and your profile and/or posts give you away as who you really are) and then also in your Silk Road senario that could be enough for authorities to make a connection? So back to my question, is it common practice to have multiple wallets to handle different types of transactions?

kcgreene.

You are right. That is one way of finding out who owns what addresses. Having separate wallets helps, but passing bitcoins back and forth between wallets will suggest some sort of association.

Best bet is merged mining bitcoins with the gpu while cpu mining for litecoin.
Yet there is no service base for linecoin. What can I actually buy with litecoin? It is essentially worthless at this point in time.

The same thing was said about bitcoin 2 years ago.

Lower temperatures are always better for electronics, but very low temperatures are not so good for mechanical parts and batteries. I think it is a great idea to take advantage of the cold weather to cool your computer.

In general, mining on a laptop is not worthwhile because of the relatively low processing power of the GPU. However, if you are happy with the results, then the only other impediment is the cost of electricity.

Perfect Money is here: http://perfectmoney.com

Unfortunately, acquiring bitcoins is still difficult for people new to bitcoin. Try https://localbitcoins.com to buy them in person. Also, take a look at this page for a large list of possible sources: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Buying_bitcoins
247  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: paper bitcoins coming soon on: December 01, 2012, 11:10:30 PM
I don't think that paper bitcoins is a nice idea. The main attraction of bitcoin, at least for me, is that it is a digital currency with all the convenience, anonymity and of course risks that this provides.

I print bills funded with small amounts and hand them out to people. Lots of people have heard about bitcoin, but they view it as abstract or intangible until they can hold something in their hands.

There are several variations of bitcoin. The variations seek to improve on perceived deficiencies. Bitcoin is the original and will probably always dominate. Litecoin is probably the most popular variation. It has a faster confirmation time (2.5 minutes compared to 10 minutes).

Keep in mind that although they are related, they are still separate currencies, just like dollars and euros.

I see what you are trying to do. I don't think you need BitInstant. Deposit money as outlined below and then buy the bitcoins on BTC-e. You can send the bitcoins from BTC-e to any wallet.

Go to "Finances" and click on the "Make a Deposit" button for the currency you want to send to BTC-e in order to see the options. The options for euros (for example) are: Perfect Money and International Wire Transfer.

If you still want to get a BTC-e coupon, read this: https://btc-e.com/news/63
