241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Storing of Bitcoins is against Bitcoin. on: October 21, 2016, 05:48:29 PM
Very odd to see a debate about how people should treat there bitcoins, would have thought we would all mostly be agreement that its no ones business what I do and how I do it. These little ideas pop up and it always feels like a check to see which way the wind is going before pushing a harder line where people are forced to submit.
You convince people that sitting on their bitcoin is bad,its like banks implementing negative percentages to potentially force people to get out and spend savings. Why do we want/need to emulate a broken system?

242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An Argument for Bitcoin as Private Property on: October 21, 2016, 05:30:39 PM
The concept of money is something a lot of us take for granted due to not having it become worthless over night or go through a depression. Bitcoin is the same because we agree to a value for it,once we do not it is worthless like clam shells of old.
Private would mean you do not mean to transact in it or am I missing something? Once you use it,it is no longer private and no longer something you hold. Seems faulty in thinking that you hold it privately with a public ledger attached to it,but the discussion most likely goes beyond my grasp of property.
243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the corner bitcoin guy? on: October 21, 2016, 05:24:10 PM
OP are you talking about the Vice episode when you reference Blackmarket, will read it that way for my response.

In the early days of the first bitcoin ATM there was a guy sitting right next to the ATM with a sign and it stated he would do it for cheaper and keep the tracking of identity out of the transaction. Sales at the ATM dropped till the store figured out what was going on and kicked the guy out.
There are lots of people that do this over Localbitcoin and then there is a tier of people you can only contact through the right channels. I know the bitcoin scene is quite active here and can meet people that can cover quite large amounts if needed.
Just presumed people where doing this in all Countries, but I also presumed the ATM scene was also just handing lip service to the KYC rules. Why would people not be doing this is the interesting part to me.
244  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Putting Bitcoin into Perspective on: October 20, 2016, 08:55:06 PM
Kind of suprised you did not get any responses to this story because it does draw on some interesting concepts.
The living off the land has always been a part of life I plan to develop, drives me nuts that I would not know what to do with a deer once I had shot it.
My cousin goes hunting all the time and the stories of how they pack the meat out always amazes me and makes you think about how far you may have to travel.
About the idea of people grouping up in this manner and cutting out the other parties that leach off the system,it is being done on a smaller scale.
Usually based off a common thinking, such as religion.

Check out how the Amish move a house:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fRy89iN7cA

Its not the video I wanted but it serves the purpose in showing how machinery is not always needed when you have a bunch of people with the same goal.

Bitcoin community is quite fragmented imo. We have people that want to get government out of the way of finances, some want government gone completely and others just want to profit off it. So we may seem united due to the use but you branch out and see we are all coming from different fields of thinking that usually stop discussion dead in its track.
245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bloomberg - total fucking idiots!!! on: October 20, 2016, 08:38:49 PM
I swear a lot of these magazines just copy and paste stories like this and run with it. Was reading a magazine on some book write up when I had that thought I had read this article already, but the magazine was new that week. It was word for word and Bloomberg has a tendency to do this a lot that I noticed. Their bitcoin articles always smell of not really proofing the story and just running with it.
246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whatsapp to send privkey ??? on: October 20, 2016, 08:35:00 PM
It bothers me that sites like Whatsapp sell the public on a secured product to use,the public takes most of these things at face value.
So they are completely shocked and out of place when they do get hit with a issue, just the fact of who owns Whatsapp now should give everyone pause before sending any personal info.
Act like they are watching and what you are using is faulty and you should be in a decent spot. Wink
247  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Pokerstars <-> Bitcoin on: October 20, 2016, 08:09:03 PM
u should be able to look up results of pokerstars player you are transferring with. if they have lots of verified winnings, then you should be good.

Not always the case. The player could have been playing staked/backed for a large segment of the winnings and let go. Have seen a few good players that just have to much gamble in them and burn their backers by donking off their rolls.
One thing I used to do in the final 18 players in a deep tourney would be googling them and seeing if they owed, where playing backed or had chat histories that implied tilt. Was always interesting to see some guys that had amazing OPR but had cut through so many backers.
I stopped by this thread because I was interested in putting some funds back on Stars this weekend and was thinking of this option.
Would be interested if a more established account with history of transactions in this manner was around.

248  Other / Meta / Re: Account farming. Allowed? on: October 20, 2016, 05:55:03 PM
I came across a few curious accounts that follow the same formula of copy&pasting a story with a link but never coming back to the thread they started or getting involved in a discussion. Have started to make a habit of checking post history of lower accounts and now I have come across 3 in the last 24 hours that do this.
Now would this be considering farming?
One of these accounts started out posting but it was obvious they had very poor English and reverted to this formula after not even 5 posts.

249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which currency is bitcoin cheapest in? on: October 20, 2016, 05:08:39 PM
Always figured that bitcoin selling/buying would work on the same principle transacting with a currency exchange.
They ding you on either side of the sale and you end up with less no matter.
The edge seems to be slight and tricky to navigate for the common folk and that would be me.
250  Other / Off-topic / Re: if you could change one thing about btc, what would that be? on: October 20, 2016, 05:04:12 PM
Changing bitcoin would most likely change bitcoin in a way that would have killed it off in the early adoption stages.
Its like life,we live in regrets and what if scenarios and you lose perspective of what you currently have! Altering the hard times in ones life would alter the person you became and you could be a totally different person by dropping one bad time in your life.
Bitcoin changes may sound nice now that bitcoin has broke through the early stage but back then some of these changes would have killed it.
251  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Pokerstars <-> Bitcoin on: October 20, 2016, 04:56:40 PM
Pokerstars will not hesitate to lock accouonts associated with cheating or stolen funds.
So you really need to be careful as the buyer or seller to make sure the transaction does not come back to bite you 3 weeks later.

OP it would help if you are a member of any poker discussion sites like 2P2,to link them here to extend the connection you have to this account.
252  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who really uses bitcoin? on: October 20, 2016, 04:50:37 PM
Was watching a post debate discussion last night and they where following twitter trends.
Bring this up because they mentioned that the majority of people tweeting are white males at 5:1 ratio. So if that is the case, imagine bitcoin would be roughly similar due to access to internet and money to spend on technology.
Not saying this is fact, just stating the media used this stat against Trump in context to his abortion comments. Most likely something to look into,as every quote they streamed on the bottom of the screen was anti Trump statements.
253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The importance of Bitcoin will not be felt by the mainstream until governments.. on: October 20, 2016, 04:44:37 PM
This will take time and the main issue/threat to achieving this is the potential of hacking.
Imagine the world economy is taken down over night by some kid in his basement!

Also tapping into something Franky1 mentioned, the creation of funds and printing money to make up for budget overruns would become obvious or not something they could do. So in that vein I do not see governments jumping on the crypto wagon till they can figure out how to create and control
most if not all aspects. It is kind of a scary thought to think we could be forced into a crypto that the government could sweep away in one swipe of the keyboard.

A lot of benefits to going down this road but there are some pretty big holes we need to patch up before we can even creep towards adopting a mainstream cycle.
254  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you use multiple Bitcoin Wallets to store your Bitcoins? on: October 19, 2016, 11:27:27 PM
Went through a spell where blockchain was no longer allowing my old computer to connect,so I had to find a go between till I got my new computer.
Think it is not a bad idea to have multiple wallets, find some are better for me on my cellphone when I am hitting a atm. For some reason Blockchain does not feel smooth to me when I am operating it on my cell,so I use mycellium and everything appears to move quicker. Might just be I am struggling to learn the new blockchain or a perception biases.

255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Netflix Executive Wants Bitcoin as Global Currency, Considers It Cost-Effective on: October 19, 2016, 10:54:53 PM
Its interesting but to be honest I see some wild technology swings that may make netflix a sony walkman if things progress rapidly enough.
It may also just be some one that understands the main demographics of their user base and playing into that.

Any company coming forward to claim acceptance is a plus in my books but I tend to be a glass half full type.
256  Economy / Gambling / Re: FORTUNEJACK.COM |Deposit 777 play with 1777 mBTC |Live Casino, Slots, Betting on: October 18, 2016, 08:41:41 PM
Any time frame on bringing cash back online?

Hopefully they bring in some lower limits to establish more of a base, its a bit chilling to sit down at higher limits not knowing how it will play out.
On top of the rest of the table tending to be from Argentina, optics override and I tend to stay clear.
Lower limits around 10NL and 25NL would be great.
257  Economy / Economics / Re: WILL BITCOIN BE USED BY ALMOST EVERYONE IN 2022? on: October 18, 2016, 08:37:41 PM
2022 seems like a very short cycle for bitcoin to uproot the financial system, its also very unlikely bitcoin becomes the main way to do business in the new age of currency. It would look more like a gumbo stew of currencies jockeying for position and not really presenting a clear winner.

Bitcoin offers a lot for me but I do not see it offering a lot for the average person in the day to day transaction.
People tend to get fixed in a mindset and to change money handling overnight would be crazier than when our grandparents stepped on a plane or elevator for the first time. People hate change and that is why we tend to have conflicts that usually divide down race, religion and money. They are good for distracting people from the issue at hand.
258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: After cold war is it bitcoin war? on: October 18, 2016, 05:11:30 PM
Pakistan has been attempting to draw India into a fight for the longest time. India is just not setup to battle them on any serious level so they talk tough but walk softly when it comes to relations with them and China. Any serious issue would be bad for India even though they have so many people the military is not well funded.
The hacking is just another needle in issue and if I was to guess about the future,I expect these type of attacks to escalate to the cusp of war and then back off. Its interesting to watch these countries troll one another in this manner.

Did the cold war ever go away? Think it ebbed and flowed but stayed current enough to be easy to see today in action.
259  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Import Paper Waller on Blockchain.info on: October 18, 2016, 04:33:12 PM
Thanks for the link will go check this out right now and get sorted out for the future.

The wallet does seem harder to navigate and I was thinking it would actually be easier with the update as opposed to the older version.
Will use today to get it all figured out so I am not bungling around months from now.
260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank moving towards bitcoin soon? on: October 17, 2016, 05:02:16 PM
China has always had a appetite for gold and grabbing it all up is no change in the way they go about business.

The reason I wanted to reply to this thread had more to due with why people are constantly thinking the world economy is going to collapse. When people are in a fear based mindset they tend to think in a unhealthy way when it comes to their investments and they are scared to ride any type of wave. So they pull out as it goes down and jump in as it mid way up and miss the whole point of investing in things, not to mention the fees.
Obama talks about guns a lot and we all know what happens when he does this, the sales go through the roof.
Fear drives the market and our dinosaur brains react to fear more than any other stimulus.

I would always be buying a little gold for rainy days and the swings do not play into my decision making on when to buy as much as I am still buying.
