241  Economy / Gambling / Betting Romney and Obama on: November 01, 2012, 11:37:22 AM
Is there any site to bet on the presidential race.  I do not want to use betsofbitcoin due to the time weight of .45.  I wish betsofbitcoin would offer non-time based bets.  They do not even need the time weights if you have a deadline.   It would really be fun to have a Obama v. Romney bet that closes every day at midnight EST.  Maybe someone can start another site?

For Example

Who will will Presidential Election? Close Nov 2 at midnight EST
Who will will Presidential Election? Close Nov 3 at midnight EST
Who will will Presidential Election? Close Nov 4 at midnight EST
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / liquidcoin action on: November 01, 2012, 11:25:18 AM
Liquidcoin seems to be having a rebirth.  Somebody is mining blocks as we have been getting about 1000 blocks a day now.  Liquidcoin closely follows gold in terms of rewards, that the supply is unlimited as long as you mine at a difficulty of 0.05. Can someone verify to see if block reward is around 4.68?  Price and action seems to be trending up at vircurex.

Are there any pools that let you merge mine IOC?

The difficuly is going to again halve in about 2 weeks.  Making it the lowest inflation coin out there.

09/06/12
15137448 almost 3/4 will be out

If you are a programmer and interest in creating a coin.   Consider buying ioc coin and fixing the software.  You can get a good chunk for only a couple of btc.  From 9/06/12 to 09/06/13 the inflation might be less than 10%, making it less inflationary than the U.S. dollar.

If people would just make using the coin cause the network to be protected, then there is no need to pay someone for this service?

just kidding, but why the massive volume in the last 2 days on btc-e and vircurex for LTC.  800 volume or so on btc-e?
246  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Original Liberty Immigration Plan - Happy 4'th USA on: July 04, 2012, 09:20:22 AM
The country is overpopulated and 51% of the land is used for crops.  We need to lock the borders and start shipping people overseas if they want to breed.  Illegal immigrants are special if the come over as kids they can have a permanent green card, but to keep them off welfare no citizenship.  As soon as they hopped the fence, the parents knew they were breaking the law.  However, if they were smart enough to avoid capture for 5 years, they should get a green card too as long as they spend 1 month in Mexico a year.

We are starving to death.
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Community plea to end this Litecoin scam on: July 04, 2012, 09:04:04 AM
1. Someone (Realsolid) accused litecoin of having a special scrypt miner they use to get tons more ltc than everyone else.  Was this ever found not true?
2. They constantly spam the boards such that over 50% of the messages are ltc.

We need a ltc sticky to put all the spam in it.
248  Other / Politics & Society / Private Equity is a scam. on: July 03, 2012, 12:08:32 AM
I have researched private equity and found it to be a complete taxpayer scam.

What I have found is they get a lot of debt to buy the company and when they do they put it on the books of the company they buy.  Usually they manipulate the price of the stock down prior to buying it.  Being on the books it is tax deductible before the 35% corporate income tax.  Thus, the portfolio company, the management company, will always keep the companies fully loaded with debt.   Debt they control.  Then as they issue more debt, they also issue large dividends off the company, generally money of the debt.

In summery if you vote for Romney, you are voting for a moral crook.  The loophole is easily eliminated by taxing corporate debt after corporate income tax.

If you own a stock that is ever bought out, make sure you sue them.  They have no right to go into your account and take your shares.

249  Economy / Economics / Re: Gas Prices Falling in the US on: July 02, 2012, 11:59:48 PM
It is not deflation!  It is the electric car.  They notice when gas prices go down, electric car sales stall.  Thus, they have to keep the prices down.
250  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US health care mandate (Obamacare) on: July 01, 2012, 04:41:06 PM
In the U.S. we had government run health care already, the business health care deduction and medicare.   The business healthcare deduction, basically was a tax on those without jobs to pay for people with jobs.   People with jobs also lost because they were forced to pay the capitalism tax, meaning the business picked the healthcare and not them forcing them to pay twice as much.  Medicare basically gives doctors a blank check to do health care.  $500 for a 15 minute office visit.  People with jobs are also forced to pay high costs for treatment.  What this did is make the cost of healthcare high and those without jobs or minimum wage jobs were priced out of the market.

Japan has the closest thing to a capitalist system of healthcare.  The government sets a maximum fee for every procedure.  Thus a $2000-$3000 overnight stay in the U.S. might only be $10 in Japan.  The doctors and facilities are generally all private.  Kids go to malls to have MRIs done.  4x the office visits for 1/2 the cost.  No wonder Japanese live the longest in the world.
251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A coin with no limit on: July 01, 2012, 02:48:36 AM
Yes, but it used the concept.  I thought it was a good concept.  They wanted to have an initial period of high inflation (block rewards 50 instead of 1) so the inflation would not be high the first few years.  If you have constant mining from the start the inflation might be 100% annual the first year, 50% the 2nd year, 25% the 3rd year, ...  If you want to you probably could buy some, make a website and take over the coin.  Improve the code if you can find it.  Possibly you can switch the algorithm to use gpus.  This coin more mimics the way gold operates, if you want more mine more.

253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A coin with no limit on: June 30, 2012, 11:15:14 PM
There is one, liquidcoin and it may be still going.  After the initial phase you only get 1 coin per so much hashrate.  The only thing I don't like about it is he really rushed it and some of the same tenebrix icons are used on the coin.
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: <Coin Idea> king koin on: June 30, 2012, 10:20:45 PM
Why not just have bitcoin with a feature in the client allowing voluntary donations to the dev team of 1% ?

I don't think they would be large enough and everyone would not be forced to pay equally.  The present inflation rate of bitcoin is 20% and people use it.  The average inflation rate of the U.S. dollar over the last 40 years has been 8% and people choose to use it.  The inflation rate of gold has been 2%.    Thus, king koin is a discount and I suggest bitcoin do a split with Gavin as lead and realsolid as vice president. wikileaks has nothing to do with the coin.

Instead of 50 mining reward 10% of it could go to the king.  If you don't like the king, vote him out.
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / <Coin Idea> king koin on: June 30, 2012, 07:24:52 PM
The idea of the coin is that the lead developer has a wallet in which 1% inflation of the coin is sent to it each year.  The lead developer is the king.  Gavin could be considered the king of bitcoin.  The idea is that the king could use the money to protect the coin and hire other kings away from other coins to work on the development team.  Possibly advertise and offer rewards.  Preferably a coin that does not use a bloated block chain.   The 1% might also be use to pay for theft and fraud, at the kings choice.  Basically the king can do whatever he or she feels right for the coin because they love the coin, even keep it.   The first king can give the wallet to someone else if they retire or the location address can be changed in the code.
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Freicoin: demurrage crypto-currency from the Occupy movement (crowdfund) on: June 30, 2012, 07:02:41 PM
What I will do is become a miner and sell the coins and buy BTC.
Then you will be doing exactly what the currency is designed for.

Let me reiterate again: the purpose of this *coin is to cleanly separate the dual purposes of money, medium-of-exchange from store-of-value. You trade your mined freicoins for BTC, but the counter-party to that transaction doesn't want to hold on to freicoins any more than you do. So he uses it to buy services he needs, and the service provider gets rid of it by paying an employee, and that employee spends it buying groceries, and that grocer turns a profit and invests it in bitcoins, bringing the Freicoin cash back to the exchange, etc., etc. ad infinitum.

Bitcoin is and always will be an ideal mechanism for storing value, superior to Freicoin in that regard. That is expected, desirable, and by design.

A coin (medium-of-exchange) should be a store of value.  Both workers and grocers would prefer to trade a coin with a store of value.  People only save money to use in the future or to buy a bigger ticket item.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Freicoin: demurrage crypto-currency from the Occupy movement (crowdfund) on: June 30, 2012, 06:15:27 AM
The coin is a joke.  Everyone will be a miner, hoping the people that do the real work will earn money for them.  What I will do is become a miner and sell the coins and buy BTC.  Assuming it is worth the electricity to do so.  These Bill Still/Ellen Brown types need to learn a lesson, inflationary coins are not fair.  Yes, the 4.4% might be a good fee to maintain the system, but not as a plan to hurt the rich.

"No offense, but a trained monkey could write an OT client."

The description of open transactions is not easy to understand.  Can grandma run open transactions gui client or server?  No.   Why don't you make a gui client similar to the bitcoin client (that is too complicated too Electrum would be Better)   with automatic setup.

Here is a mock GUI

"I lived and studied in great depth and many years in the former Communist states and a key principle in converting Communists countries to Capitalist societies was redistribution of wealth. It wasn't perfect by a long shot, but it got people invested in a sense of ownership in a free society. "

That is the definition of communism or socialism.  Capitalism you get to keep your labor or returns of capital and pay taxes as a choice mainly for protection or to enforce law.

"Since the aforementioned reasons mean Litecoin has no future potential, it effectively functions as a pyramid scheme, rewarding those who get in sooner at the expense of those who adopt it just before it finally fails (and are left with nothing). This is not the case for Bitcoin, since it has significant potential to become a long-term currency and continually be beneficial to adopters no matter when they begin using it. "

Although probably a correct statement, but they think it will last forever thus not a ponzi scheme.  Same can be said about BTC regarding blockchain size.
