241  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What do you think of Comunism? on: February 27, 2017, 09:19:14 PM
But don't tell me that direct democracy is impossible, 2 laws a week IS NOT so much. Especially as you will have to look at only a third of them, the others being not in your field.

That sounds expensive to implement.
242  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What do you think of Comunism? on: February 27, 2017, 09:07:41 PM
In some countries comunism is a threat to religions and government. What do you think of the growth of comunism in your country?

Communism failed. Our private lives will never be "equal", which is the basis to communism.

The only way to achieve a more equal society is through great parks, wonderful streets, fantastic sidewalks, bicycles, health, education and opportunity.  We need to look at equity and how we treat our most vulnerable populations. I believe socialism, not communism, achieves these aims because the State is not in control of production and we live better lives.  Places like Denmark, Norway and Netherlands are great examples.
243  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: February 27, 2017, 08:32:06 PM
KanoPool does not use PPS. You can clearly validate that on the pool website right after the welcome statement. https://kano.is/

Yup.  It's PPL5S.  It's also has less than 1% of pool share.  I'm thinking about Antpool ...
244  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: February 27, 2017, 04:47:23 AM
...
I don't feel comfortable discussing the use of a different PPLNS pool in this forum
...
This is the perfect place to discuss it unless you are worried that your thoughts are way outside the mainstream.

...
The "accessible to all" type market has really moved to PPS.
...
I do not feel that your characterization is realistic. What leads you to make that assertion?

I'm on Kano.  PPS is daily, regular payments that do not take a any understanding of the blocks - more like a clock running.  It removes any level of risk or luck.
245  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: February 27, 2017, 02:18:21 AM
No measurements done yet. Still trying to get the thing to actually start hashing... Undecided

I'm just curious if it could be not getting enough power?   Huh  Undecided
246  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin mining currently too energy inefficient for the future? on: February 27, 2017, 02:10:14 AM
... Africa, which is already struggling with water shortages will become a desert unable to support life.
I wouldn't worry about overpopulation. People have been preaching doom for years ...

Ever read the book Collapse?  It talks about how civilization collapses around the planet from the Vikings to the Maya.  His hypothesis is that places destroyed their environment, ruined partnerships with their allies and turned on themselves.  This often came from short abundance, knowing it was a bad idea, followed with internal fighting and collapse.
247  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: February 26, 2017, 09:54:44 PM
... hard reset using the "IP report" button brought the board back to life.

The miner must have been stopped in an unlucky state and was unable to initially complete the reset procedure.

Now is it sitting there, waiting to start up the miner daemon, which supposedly takes a while sometimes. 17min and counting...

I'm glad you got may have it solved.  I did a couple accidental hard restarts and now it's hashing upwards 13.7 from 13.6.  Hopefully you'll have the same luck!

Do you have a Kill-A-Watt or something to monitor the PSU? I assume it's getting 1600W ... when mine was idling it was only pulling 0.5A, then 1,2 and a spike to 12A and 1400W (on 110v) as it started hashing.
248  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump Is Damaging Press Freedom in the U.S. and Abroad on: February 26, 2017, 08:23:22 PM
Trump did not attack the media as is spreading around on media. I watched the program live on cnn. He said " I am not against the media  but against the fake news media house". I was telling my friend that CNN is fake news because immediately trump said am against the fake news, CNN post on their breaking news that "Trump attack the media again".

It's frustrating because I work in government and it's important for the media to say things how they want and not you.  My blood pressure goes up 20 pt when they write "bicyclists" and not "person riding a bicycle." But it's important they don't just copy verbatum what the government wants them to say, but gets other perspectives.

Good for CNN.  The media needs to be free to say as they please.
249  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump Is Damaging Press Freedom in the U.S. and Abroad on: February 26, 2017, 06:24:08 PM
Do you remember the CNN putting a Halo over Hillary's head?

Trump just gave them what they deserved. Now they can cry and whine about it for another four long years.

I did not.  I did not vote for her, either. To be fair ... Trump did raise good point about the system being stacked against the Sanders.  I voted Stein (Green Party).
250  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump Is Damaging Press Freedom in the U.S. and Abroad on: February 26, 2017, 06:21:56 PM
Wait till you get to our situation here in the Philippines...

You have a drug war, right?
251  Other / Off-topic / Re: How are you earning BTC? on: February 26, 2017, 07:57:13 AM
So as of this moment, I'm only earning bitcoin through a signature campaign here on bitcointalk forum.

You are probably getting close to earning enough where you would perhaps consider wanting the option for a BTC to USD.  Coinbase has a $10 referral bonus for making more money with a $100 buy/sell.
252  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [20+PH] KanoPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA on: February 26, 2017, 07:43:17 AM
Another glitch failover at 07:19 UTC but all connected immediately straight back again.
This time was the main pool passthru, SG and JP.

NL, NYA and DE were unaffected.

Gracias para la heads up. I was wondering why the hasj crash and was giving my brother a quick lesson for when I am gone ...
253  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [20+PH] KanoPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA on: February 26, 2017, 06:49:46 AM
New are all v2

Okay, cool.
Thanks.

What are the new S9s? v1 o 2? My BIOS says 2013-2014 ...
255  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [20+PH] KanoPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA on: February 26, 2017, 04:29:59 AM
They are a b****h of a company. #ihateFedEx
I have good experience with DHL.
I wish we still had them here. USPS is the only way I can reliably ship out internationally, which I do frequently.

They moved more than 200 x miners from China to ISP (Canada) without major glitches and on-time.
Did you have to pay customs fees?

I have bad experience with UPS and Fedex (missing & untraceable packages, damaged in transit, prolonged custom checks, incomplete paperwork, bad customer service).

I told them I needed the number for their attorney and they provided it to me within about 15 seconds.

#ihateFedEx

I feel for the guy who got his consignment bested because of the "HASH BO" thing - that is just ridiculous.

No doubt.  Stay on them.  Every day they are down it's costing you mining. Maybe it's a way BITMAIN is tryis to control difficulty??? #didIgetTrumpd? (conspiracy as normal)

I really hope you get them, now! That's really messed up.  I could understand if it was a shipment of rugs and avacados from Morocco.  I've seen that stuff on the TV, so I am an expert; they can simply open the package and pass it along as fine. I wonder if there are other problems. I wonder if PTP would have helped prevent this type of thing? I wonder what Kano thinks of us talking 'bout the enemy (just kidding, China)?

-----------------------------------

We've got on a bunch more PH, up 8 or so, we should be solving more blocks ....

256  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump Is Damaging Press Freedom in the U.S. and Abroad on: February 26, 2017, 03:59:24 AM
Buzzfeed is pure cancer. CNN and BBC lost their value in my eyes, and I believe in a lot of people too. I was reading through some CNN headlines and boy oh boy is it stupid... They'll twist everything, it's gotten out of hand.

It's called the 2nd amendment!  You can say whatever you want: por ejemplo, "comma splices".  Undecided

The problem is cutting off access.  It's frustrating being taken out of context and misquoated as City Official "X" ... when you did not know the story context and sound like a fool.  That's why it's important to have a good relationship with the press.

You can't compare Trumps media situation with Hitlers or Stalins, it's a completely different thing.

Again.  2nd Amendment Dude!  Can say whatever s/he wants, like co**suc*erbal**. Entiendies?

257  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: February 26, 2017, 03:27:14 AM
My PSU is the Bitmain APW3+-12-1600W, It says it has every protection. but it failed. Sad A waste of money.

They are $150-ish.  The EVGAs are $300 - $400.  I go higher end on those.

Man, that really stinks.  I wonder what caused the problem.  Try calling the Colorado office for Bitmain warrenty at +1.844.248.6246???
258  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump Is Damaging Press Freedom in the U.S. and Abroad on: February 26, 2017, 02:36:57 AM
Who says we need a "White House press briefing?"

It started with Roosevelt on the back of the train.  Throughout this time journalism turned into a professional that strictly reported facts.  Now, it's spin ... spin ....

This is the year 2017.

It's also 1428.

The news from the White House can simply be put on the internet for anyone to read and/or opine on.

Dangerous.

I work for government.  I have also worked for the press.  It's important and accessible.  The press ask the difficult questions also help management understand the pressing issues of the community.  It can also be a great propaganda tool ... is it seems to be devolving towards.  I blame it on SEO and Google for "backlinks", which encourages looking circular.
259  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [20+PH] KanoPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA on: February 26, 2017, 02:19:48 AM
Im still ticked tho.  But not bugging as bad as when fedex was making it sound like it was either not going to arrive at all or be held up for a long time.

They are a b****h of a company. #ihateFedEx

I hope you get them through.  I can tell you that I currently have a package from last April that is held in a facility and another from December.  It's only FedEx with international. My packages haven't been delivered and they are charging me "holding fees."

I hope you get your packages quickly and you may want to consider options for expediting ... so you can point them to the best bitcoin mining pool.

260  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin mining currently too energy inefficient for the future? on: February 26, 2017, 12:34:58 AM
For a world which is about to face ... climate change - the obscene energy usage of Bitcoin miners is a problem.

Yes. I agree.  We need to move much more aggressively towards developing clean energy.  Did you know the renewable energy lab in Boulder, CO, has a solar system that converts the sun's heat to energy that can continue the load throughout the night?  It was there in 2008 when I visited. There is a market failure and government needs to act.

Bitcoin is not the problem.
It's like the saying,
"if you come home to find your wife
being unfaithful to you
 - on the couch -
you don't throw out the couch!"

Not only is China beating us on the development and adoption of BTC, but also solar energy.  They're moving forward and we're looking back  Roll Eyes

Contact your Senator and tell them to act now to dramatically bring down the price of CLEAN energy:
