2401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / Poloniex IPO / crypto, fiat, bullion pairs / UPDATED on: April 29, 2014, 09:39:04 PM

Different situation with COMM, they have a Dev who stole millions in stakes from other community members, that's pretty much an accepted fact by even the most loyal supporters of COMM.  I've said my piece over there, hopefully they will obsolete the original Dev going forward and prosper as a community and a coin.

And as far as it XBC being the fairest IPO you have ever seen, I'm sure it is the fairest you have seen bcs you got in and are enjoying the price being manipulated upward on Poloniex, how could it not be when you have every "pumper" on Poloniex with a cut along with the owner of the exchange.

Scam coins gonna Scam

Well, I have a question for you then.

If it was an ipo here in this forum, where people sent in their btc for a promise of future coin later, how is that fairer? Just because it was on an exchange and people were guaranteed to get their coins, it is somehow considered a scam?

You do know how the ipo worked, right? It was up for at least a day or two (by the time I even found our about it), with coins listed for sale on the exchange. You just had to buy them like any other coin and they went right to your exchange wallet. There were tons of coins available, tons.

And I don't say it was fair because I got in, because I barely even did get in. I only have around 125 coins, and only half I got at ipo prices. So not many coins really.

If you say this coin is a scam because price is manipulated because of a pump, then every single crypto ever made is also a scam, as well as bitcoin. I also view it less as a pump right now, and more as reaching a more accurate floor based on number of coins. You can argue the point that you don't think the coin is worth it, don't like the name of the coin, or don't like the committee idea. That's fine. But none of that makes the coin a scam.
2402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List scam coins in this thread on: April 29, 2014, 09:32:41 PM

It was more than bad coding for white coin, the original dev used mashed up code from one of his previous fail coins, and the code didn't even do proof of stake which white coin was said to be. And then he disappeared right when PoW ended and dumped his premine, resulting in lots of people losing money. I would say that's a scam.

If the dev knew that the coin couldn't do what he said it would, purposely vanished and dumped the premine, then yep, it's a scam. Actually any dev dumping any premine meant for promotion could be considered scammy, regardless of coin problems.

I didn't follow the coin very closely, as it just seemed like it was copying blackcoin and hoping for a quick payout.
2403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / Poloniex IPO / crypto, fiat, bullion pairs / UPDATED on: April 29, 2014, 09:21:14 PM

Yes its quite shocking that MintPal has not adding a worthless scamcoin created by Poloniex traders and the owner of Poloniex exchange to fleece ppl of their BTC.  Quite shocking.

The only volume it has is traders on Poloniex sending it back and forth to themselves and a few unfortunate souls who don't have the full picture of what is happening behind the scenes of this "coin".

What with all the innovation this coin brings, like 50,000 coins, a lazy ripped off name and 98% distribution to top 20 wallets how is it not on the Moon and the New York Stock Exchange yet?

Scam coins gonna Scam.

Your post history is really interesting. Do you have a life, or just enjoy trolling coins?

Yeah, traders on Poloniex are sending coins between each other. The same happens with every other coin on every other exchange... that's the point to an exchange. Someone sells, someone buys. It's hardly a great revelation there. You stated how MintPal wouldn't touch comm coin either (after you trolled there forever). Of course now both cryptsy and mintpal list it.

Please use a dictionary and look up what scam means. IPO was fairest I've seen, as it was open, and anyone at all could buy in ... and it was available for quite some time. If you missed it, well... too bad.

What is the number to be on the committee 1000 coins, or 500 now? Not that I qualify for either, at 125ish.

Mostly just curious if the number of coins will be decreased. Or if the price sinks a bit, and my other coins skyrocket... guess in theory I could get to 500 then... extreme longshot.

2405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List scam coins in this thread on: April 29, 2014, 07:58:53 PM
In order to make a list of scam coins, it may be best to first define what a scam is. The term is used too loosely in this forum for my definition. Poorly coded coins, simple clones, coins that go below ipo prices, or coins that simply lose you money, wouldn't be considered scams to me. Coins that have iffy distribution, but it's just a vague hunch, wouldn't qualify either. IPOs where the devs run away with the money, viruses in wallets and other similar behavior would certainly qualify.

I didn't keep track of white coin, but was it an ipo? If just bad coding, I wouldn't count it as a scam.

But that still leaves plenty of other scam coins around.

And no idea why anyone in their right mind would bother with dafuq coin. It's basically a red flag from the start to avoid it.

A pair of sketchy coins to me, yet I can't say with 100% certainty are scams, would be mandarin coin and australia coin. There was a rumored log for mandarin devs that looks very very shady. They could be considered a scam under the view that they didn't follow up with a proper airdrop. Many nation coins probably qualify there.

Marinecoin may qualify, under an 'insane dev' rule. Faking marketcap based on premine. And a completely crazy website.

I'm sure there are plenty of bad ipo coins, but I may not have been around long enough to even know what they are. I've taken part in three ipos in the several months I've been here, and I've made money on all three (not very much, but some). So I may have missed the shadier ones.

I haven't kept track of this coin's price in a while, and just checked today. Wow has it completely tanked.

Now Payu can give away .50 to each member of the tribe. I'm sure that will speed up adoption. Maybe a family can group together their savings and buy a loaf of bread.

I feel really bad if anyone actually held this entire time, from when it was at its high point. Some people here went in a lot during its initial spike.

Looks interesting, I'm a fan of POS coins. Especially since my PC is to weak to mine. Specs look decent too ... curious where this can go.

Let's make XBC available to other's exchange, trustworthy like bittrex, cryptoaltex, cryptsy, mintpal etc.

I expect that to happen, but I wouldn't be in any super rush to do so. After a bit more infrastructure is in place, then it makes more sense.

Too often new coins go to cryptsy/mintpal, may get a brief price spike, then tumble. I'd say let the coin grow a bit more before worrying about other exchanges. Poloniex is big enough to handle normal volume.

A bit of extra promotion, cryptosandwich, tweet stuff, etc. might help some. Although due to how expensive the coin is, it may be like a .1 coin giveaway/person.

nice... ipo gone, dev gone... same shit different day

Lets not jump to comclusions now. He could've been hit by a truck Tongue

It's only been a couple of days since he last posted, so it's not that bad. If it's this time next week, and he hasn't showed up once here ... then I'd worry.

I'm not so concerned over the premined coins at the moment. Simple reason is, what would the dev do with them even if he wanted to dump? Bittrex prices stink and volume is like nothing. There is nobody to dump the coins to.

But it'd be nice if the dev announced more about his plans for small local giveaways, and distribute some about. Airdrops and normal nation coin stuff is what kept people interested .... if nobody has the coin locally, nobody knows about it locally ... then it simply won't work out at all.

Muniti coin had a nice idea when they gave away some USB sticks with their logo stamped on them (I assume to local residents) It might be something for the dev to consider. Or print out some coupons with paper wallets, and give some of those out locally.

The developer has fixed the code and I believe a working wallet will be posted shortly.

Have any coins from the airdrop started already? I am just wondering if any were lost due to the wallet problems, or whatever occurred.

I have been wondering why my wallet wasn't working, just stuck, never syncing. Guess I know why now.

Not to put to fine a point on it but anyone who wasn't part of the insider IPO and buying now on the open market is a hopeless fool who hates money.

I think we should call you Mr. Sour Grapes Man. Do you plan to troll here, like you did on the comm thread too?

Insider IPO? I logged in 2 nights ago randomly, and there was tons of XBC available to anyone who was logged in, at .001. It lasted until the next afternoon. There was plenty of XBC to go around. The only insider IPO requirement was that you had to log into an exchange? It's hardly some giant exclusive, secretive thing.

I also noticed it when whale mentioned it. I am by no means a whale but when I saw the potential of it I liquidated half my online coin portfolio to buy over 1k coins. I had such a crap trading week I decided to take a risk and I alerted tons of peep on skype, on fb in the trollbox to take a look. Everyone had equal chance to buy and not only that the Committee was only formed when the DEV realized how big the coin got in popularity and when peeps were offering their service and assistance for the coin which = COMMUNITY. I also gave away a fair amount of coin yesterday too and if I do well trading.I will help more peeps and give out more coins.

I really wish I had done the same. Most of my coins are in Drk and I am really hesitant to liquidate them. And I'm a guppy-sized trader, so I may have a couple of btc in Drk, but that's sort of it, besides the recent freebie com/itc stakes (and a decent proportion of those were spent on Drk).

I did end up selling some of my itc stake + extra junk I had about, to get 100 coins during the ipo. Of course now I wish I just sold every stake I had leftover and got at least 500 or so. But I guess if we knew what to always do, we'd all be super rich by now.

I really like how it was set up on poloniex though. Anyone could get in at ipo prices, no need for escrow or some promise of future coins. Anyone could just log in and buy, so it seemed like a much more reliable and fair way to distribute than most ipo offerings.

I don't know if it's just me, but does anyone else find it odd that the dev isn't posting here as much as he did pre-release?

I don't expect a dev to post here constantly, but it just seems weird when one is around all the time, then he becomes somewhat scarce. Especially after an IPO is over. Maybe he is just working on stuff or is busy, but a bit of an update may shore the price up some.

What should we do to get Quebecoin listed on Poloniex? On Mintpal i have see that we can vote for Quebecoin to be listed there, but on Poloniex? What`s the procedure? Let`s get Quebecoin on Poloniex guys, let`s do our best!!

I have no idea what process poloniex uses. I think many of us has mentioned listing quebecoin in the chatbox and assume the dev has contacted them. Besides that, I don't think there is anything left to try.

Alternative exchanges that could be considered:

Coined Up
Atomic Exchange
Austin Global Exchange
CCEX

I'm not that crazy about any of them, but I guess Coined up may be the best of the bunch?
2415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Sick of Bag Holders flogging their garbage ? on: April 28, 2014, 06:55:19 AM
Not really a big deal to me, as I basically don't trust people a whole lot here anyway. So if you are super skeptical and have low expectations, it's not like all of the pump/hype threads mean much anyway.

Trolling and lack of maturity bother me on this site much more than people flogging coins.

i already pointed out how you confuse Trolling with a person's opinion..
hence your little dig at me lol

and when you are looking for a comment worth reading it's fine with you sifting through a monolithic amount of scammy garbage ?
hmm weird i wonder why that is ?
that is like collecting your work pay check on pay day after the boss buried the check in the bottom of a dumpster in the parking lot..
it also makes your employees working there look REAL classy lol

oh yeah me too.. i love sleazy rotten scammy garbage doesn't bother me.. i like it Smiley
mmk then buddy  Roll Eyes

I didn't mention you at all in my post.

And I know the difference between trolling and an opinion. Usually an educated opinion doesn't include giant red block letters, insane walls of text, nor a need for someone to post nonstop, the same thing over and over... quite often throwing in insults, memes or other childish things.

And I'm not for more people flogging their garbage here. I didn't vote yes or no. I simply offered my opinion that it's not the biggest problem in this forum.
2416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ShareCoin - Pure POS - No IPO - MULTIPOOL - FREE and FAIR - DISTRIBUTING on: April 28, 2014, 06:44:18 AM
Heh, it's interesting to see how quickly this filled up. The comm coin people had a problem getting past 500 applicants originally. I guess since they were first with this type of thing, interest wasn't there yet ... now obviously there is.

I guess the devs can either reduce coins for everyone, or simply stop at 990. Or perhaps he'll remove some people who are too newbie-ish (like just signed up on the forum this week), or go by forum activity, or something like that. They really need to shut down the signup page though before there is a crazy amount on there.

damn, someone sold a lot , hurt the price.

Things change fast like the price. Why did they sell coins at this price even below IPO?

Guessing it's from miners with coins piling up. I don't think anyone who bought into the IPO would sell below IPO prices, as that would be silly at this point... or at least I hope it's not from an IPO person.
2418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CommunityCoin (COMM) | Pure PoS | ON (BTER - MINTPAL - CRYPTSY) EXCHANGES on: April 28, 2014, 04:46:22 AM
I have a bizarre wallet/delivery issue I hope someone can help me with. I tried to send 50K coins to Mintpal, and noticed it was seemingly taking forever. So I check my wallet today and see that the transaction has zero confirmations.

I close/re-open the wallet, make sure its synced... same issue.

Basically it looks like my delivery got sent to nowhere, as the address is correct, but no coins at mintpal, no confirmations and the coins are no longer in my wallet.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

You can try to resend the transaction:

Copy the transaction id from the transactions tab (double click you show you some info, including the txid);
In the debug windows (Help / Debug Window) choose Console and type getrawtransaction <txid> (replace <txid> by your txid copied before)
copy the info shown;
type sendrawtransaction <hexid> (replace <hexid> by the string copied in the last step

This should broadcast the transaction to your peers;

Adriano

Thanks for the reply. Someone else already gave me a suggestion on how to fix it, by using repairwallet in the console -- that fixed it. I haven't tried to actually move the coins from the wallet since then, but if it conks out again, at least I have another possible solution.

With the current prices of comm, there probably is no big rush to move any of it anyway. I just sometimes like to keep a little on the exchanges in case of pumps and such.

Yeah, not crazy where the price is going currently. I didn't think it'd go below IPO levels already. I think we need some dev announcements or something, to get miners to hold a bit longer.
