2403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] YACoin ongoing development on: January 05, 2014, 10:44:20 AM
I've read all of the recent posts (twice actually) and gave this a lot of thought...

Anyway, I've got the code changes ready. You're all invited to review them. https://github.com/saironiq/yacoin-cc/commit/acf917a2c42cb947b08a9a7878ceafd6045ea24c

I think Sairon's fix is the best solution at the moment.  It seems to be easy to implement and it will solve the immediate issue.  While there may need to be other 'tweeks' down the road, we need to get YAC back up and running.  The inconstancy on Cryptsy and other market charts / exchanges aren't helping improve YAC's reputation and community.  Without either of these, I don't think we will have a chance to face some of these other issues...

I think if something isn't agreed upon soon, it may be a good idea to just rebase YAC to the latest NVC source.

I am (personally) not in favor of this.  Nothing against Novacoin but; YAC was branched from PPC/NVC and there has been a lot of development work to make it a unique (and useful) coin.  And by copying NVC's PoS modifications, we begin to lose some of our uniqueness.  And YAC isn't another 'clone' coin.  If it was; it would have been named CAC - Clone Another Coin....

If we do decide to move forward with Sarion's hard-fork, I am in favor of doing it by Feb 1st.  This gives 4 weeks for all pools and miners to update their software.  I believe this is more than enough time to properly communicate to everyone.  Also, a few thoughts / questions about how POS after this hard-fork.

Our block target for YAC is one minute.  This would imply that there would be a maximum of 720 POS blocks per day.  As YAC continues to grow, this may not offer many opportunities for people to mint their transactions.  Therefore, is it possible to....

1) Mint more than one transaction at once/per block? (i.e. Five transactions of 10 YAC w/ one coin-year each, in an unlocked wallet would mint in the same block, and be returned a single transaction (50.50 YAC)
2) Increase/remove the 'coin-age' cap? (I believe transactions stop gaining 'coin-age' after 90 days)

IMO - These adjustments will allow people to continue to fairly PoS mine YAC, with out compromising any of the security or fundamental features of YAC.

How about fair launch? First ever in the history of altcoins. Maybe name should be faircoin or something though.

-Preannouncement 48h before launch or so
-Several pools ready to go
-Starting diff of 5 with scrypt
-Wallet ready
-No premine
-Sane block time

+1

Is there any other information out there about this coin?  Max coins?  Fees?  Block target time? POS?  N-factor? Starting difficultly? And most importantly...   Does this coin offer anything new or special that doesn't already exist?

aso118, there was a plan. Cunning plan. To create a coin which will be mined completely so quickly than noone does not have time to understand and grasp source code. And there was a mistake in the code. Specially laid mistake. To produce coins very quickly after the end of pow-mining. To very quickly multiply coins volume that placed in to wallet. Because that error was vile error it afforded by storing coins in a wallet several times more coins than expected by other peoples. And who knew about this error - mined/bought as many coins as they can buy. This drived price higher at the same time. And once they got trillions of free coins - they sold them to everyone who wants to make a profit. And others understands that there is a mistake and began to produce and sell as well. But it was too late.

PS: i bought 12 billions of these..

Thank-you for catching me up.   So what's the plan?  Are these duplicate coins going to be deleted / orphaned with the next update?  I was looking forward to mining these again.

I just read the last 100-120 posts in this thread - what happened to CENT?  I mined it when it first launched and I just seen my wallet in my Program Files, so I thought I'd see what they're worth now.  I was surprised to see them trading for 0.00000001 LTC each!

Was there a hard fork for this coin making them 1000x more then they were???  Are there any mining pools still running for CENT?  What are the updates going to change / fix?  Reading on github, the coin was capped at 1 billion.

If you based CATcoin value on DOGEcoin current value, you would get the following:

Current CATcoins: 933,600

Current DOGEcoin market cap: $7,932,832

Price per CATcoin: $8.50 per coin

Wow, not saying that would happen right now, but just showing perspective...

price don't work like that lol, it is only based on demand, nothing else

Like all else in life.  Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.  Yea I get it.  Just fun messing with numbers!!!

Agreed.  But it seems like most trades are happening around 0.001 BTC per 1 CATcoin.  Using this as a rough estimate; and seeing that 934,750 coins have been mined, with BTC at $781.713 atm...   The Market Cap would be around $730,706.20.  The coin only launched 2-3 days ago?  That's quite a development in such a short amount of time!

btw - I seen the thread to vote for CATcoin on Cryptsy.  I thought they would have added it by now.  Anyone hear what the hold-up is?  Or could it just be the holidays?
2414  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] YACoin ongoing development on: December 27, 2013, 10:06:22 PM
I was thinking of updaing the output interface screen to be more akin to CGMiner.  I may be able to update it so yacoin cpu hashrate gets displayed in a smaller unit.

That would be really helpful if you could do that.

On a side note - is there a way to see how many POS blocks I minded?  I'd be interested to see how many coins I've mined via POW vs POS.  And as the YAC continues to become established, it may be useful to see how this ratio trends.

2416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DOGECOIN POOL MINE ! FAST-POOL.COM - 0% FEE much DOGE on: December 26, 2013, 04:27:53 PM
Can you fix the price look up on the dashboard?

Code:
OVERVIEW DOGE/USD: 30.748 / POOL WORKERS: 1961

I think it is looking up Litecoin's current trading price.  DOGE isn't worth anything close to that (yet).
2417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] YACoin ongoing development on: December 23, 2013, 07:40:55 PM
Thinking ahead to the next N-increase, how difficult would it be to change the units on the cpu miner from khash to hash?  So instead of showing

Code:
[2013-12-23 14:23:19] thread 3: 4322 hashes, 0.07 khash/s

It would show something like...

Code:
[2013-12-23 14:23:19] thread 3: 4322 hashes, 75 hash/s

I think it may even be helpful now.  Most of the time I just see all of my threads sitting at 0.07 khash/s.  It would be nice to know where they actually are (70-79 hash) and how other programs, I'm running, effect their performance.  It sounds minor, but 9 extra hashes per thread could be a 12.8% mining increase.
2418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] YACoin ongoing development on: December 23, 2013, 06:47:58 PM
Hey Thirtybird I tried to mine with your cpuminer,I have intel i7 and I use minerd corei7! When I use -a scrypt -o stratum+tcp://yac.coinmine.pl:9088 -O WorkerName:WorkerPassword  I get actual processor power which is 25kh/s but accepted shares are invalid but when I use -a scrypt-jane -q -o stratum+tcp://yac.coinmine.pl:9088 -O worker:worker_pass   shares are valid but my power is 0.07kh/s ! please help!

If you use the '-a scrypt' flag, you're computer is mining using the scrypt algorithm instead of the scrypt-jane algorithm.  YAC uses scrypt-jane, so you will have to use the '-a scrypt-jane' flag to have valid shares.  The decrease in mining speed is normal.  YAC uses the 'N-factor' which increases the hash length, and helps keep the coin resistant to ASICs and other specialized mining software.

If you use '-a scrypt-jane' and you're still not getting accepted shares, try using the '-a yacoin' flag.  I know some of the miners use this instead.
2419  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency - many coin - wow - v1.2 Released on: December 23, 2013, 12:54:19 PM
WOW a 78 BTC buy wall on Cryptsy at 50 satoshi.  That's huge!

On a side note...  I did some reading on this thread and I see a lot of people complaining about the 'price drop.'  Wasn't DOGE only trading for 30-35 satoshi on CoinedUp?  The way I see it, The price was over inflated when it was added to Cryptsy, and it is just returning to it's normal value.  But either way the value is still up.   50 > 30.  Smiley

A pool will be available at launch time Smiley

12 hours until launch...   If the pool is going to be P2P the windose users (including myself) will need a wallet by then...
