24021  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: January 25, 2018, 09:41:56 AM
Tried using electrum 3.0.5 and 2.9.3 under linux and windows... if "ChipMixer" would allow 'newbies' to send PMs i could give more exact details
My account allows Newbies to PM me, but Newbies can only send 2 PMs per day (this was limited because of massive spam on the forum).
But please, don't PM your private keys to me or anyone else, keep those details between you and ChipMixer's support only.
24022  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary one day? on: January 25, 2018, 09:36:44 AM
@everyone who became legendary this round right before the Merit system implementation: I hate you.
You're almost at 1000 already. I was just thinking I got lucky to be Legendary right before the Merit system was introduced!
Unless people go through your old posts to give points, it'll take quite some time to go from 500 to 1000.
24023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin wallet from 2011? on: January 25, 2018, 08:57:40 AM
Password wise I am not sure If i am screwed, I think I recall making some insane password? that it was required. But when I open it in Bitcoin Core, then I have the option to encrypt it and the "Change password" is greyed out, which leads me to believe there is none??.
This sounds about right.

Quote
I plan to let Bitcoin Core download the whole blockchain after I get new harddrive (150~gig??? insane)
While syncing, Bitcoin Core tells you how far it is behind. If you're sure your wallet was last used in 2011, it won't take that long to synchronize only a few years of blockchain (it was much smaller back then). So I suggest to just start it now.
You can also add "-prune=550" at a command line option when you start Bitcoin Core, this will reduce the harddrive requirements to less than 10 gig (but you still need to download 160 gig).

Good luck in your treasure hunt! Tip: ignore Newbies asking you to Skype them.
24024  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction Questions on: January 24, 2018, 07:48:29 PM
The receipient said he is not able to use that BTC untill it's confirmed.

Is that true?
Yes.
24025  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Lots of issues sending bitcoin from Local Bitcoins on: January 24, 2018, 07:07:21 PM
I can't figure out how to withdraw it to Electrum. I have a voucher code. I've read the minimum deposit is 0.001, although I deposited more than that (about double).
The minimum to withdraw from ChipMixer is 0.004 now:
3. We are increasing minimal deposit amount from 0.001 BTC (1 mBTC) to 0.004 BTC (4 mBTC) and blocking withdrawal of 1 and 2 mBTC chips.
This requires longer explaination. Current mining fees are almost 1 mBTC and sweeping smallest chip result in getting almost nothing. This results in situations like this:
https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/tx/5151e688f5ad2410cf92dc142dfc114d3a4ff4090f14082ffa0a33dc967a46ec
This is an example of burning 33 mBTC to receive almost 8 mBTC.

What will happen if somebody deposits 3 mBTC? They will receive chips that can be split/merge/bet/donate but not withdraw. They can be exchanged for voucher to be used with another session.
What will happen if somebody deposits 5 mBTC? They will receive 4 mBTC chip that can be withdrawn and 1 mBTC chip that can be exchanged for voucher.

Hopefully it will lower the wasteful sweep transactions.
Keep your voucher code, you can use it together with your next deposit to withdraw 0.004BTC.
24026  Other / Meta / Re: Solutions for the spam problem? on: January 24, 2018, 06:45:56 PM
With what goal? Giving campaigns the choice to accept spammers but not scammers? That doesn't make sense, neither one should be given any incentive to post.
The idea would be that campaign managers don't allow either. The distinction would be for dealers who know yellow (orange or whatever) is not related to trading trust.
If this will be enforced on all campaigns (including "Bounties"), I totally agree this is a very good solution. Your other idea to disable signatures from anyone with a DT-spammer-tag instantly takes care of this.

Giving a "spammer" tag is not going to help. People running the campaigns will just add naturally the rule "No red trust + No orange trust"
Then what? People will continue to complain because they now have a spammer tag which gives the same result of the red trust for their activity here.
True, they'll still complain, but a spammer-tag fits better than using a scammer-tag for a different purpose.
24027  Other / Meta / Re: Problem accessing my old account, it seems to have been hacked.... on: January 24, 2018, 06:38:07 PM
is there a page for users to contact admins regarding stuff like this??
Yes, it's called Meta, and has a sticky for Recovering hacked accounts or accounts with lost passwords.
24028  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: January 24, 2018, 06:32:34 PM
one of the "chips" private keys was invalid. wrote support a message 10 hours ago, but still got no answer.
ChipMixer doesn't have 24h support (yet), so it should be soon.

all my other recieved private keys from the same mixing process are working but one (the smallest value).
Is it possible you missed a part while copying? Does it have the same length as the others, or is it shorter?
24029  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Refunding Lightning Network channels? on: January 24, 2018, 06:05:33 PM
Re-funding the channel from an on-chain transaction requires a (miners') fee too. At the moment I have no worries that miners may not earn enough in the future.
24030  Other / Meta / Re: Solutions for the spam problem? on: January 24, 2018, 05:40:13 PM
My goal when adding people to the Default Trust network was to help clean up the garbage posting on this forum.
Thanks for stepping up, I can't deny it made me smile a bit seeing so many accounts with zero post quality suddenly complain about a trust rating they received months ago.

Quote
I understand people are all worked up over sea of red that ensued after my adding The Pharmacist and actmyname to DT2. I would love to hear some suggestions on how to make this fair for everyone.
I would love to see shitposters becoming more careful and creating better posts when they fear for red trust, but I don't have much hope of that happening.
Ultimately, I would prefer to see shitposters banned instead of tagged. I like strict rules: insubstantial posts aren't allowed, if most of a user's posts are worthless, he shouldn't be allowed to post at all. But this has been discussed in many topics, just like the suggestions to punish campaign managers who pay shitposters, but these suggestions didn't get enforced.

Quote
I have also seen some suggestions that sounded good like drop a red for a week and if they clean it up remove the red and leave a neutral.
Do you mean cleaning up their post history by asking them to delete all bad posts on their own? I like it! Most will have to delete up to 90% or more, and after that it should be quite easy to quickly check whether they did a good job or not.

Quote
I think everyone should be able to join a campaign and earn some coins, but the spam is out of control and no one can seem to fix it so far...
I think some people just lack the capacity to type useful posts on this forum, and if their only motivation to post here is to join a campaign, it can only end in shitposting.

Quote
Maybe I was wrong to add people to fight spam?
Although I wouldn't tag them by myself, I do appreciate it.

Quote
I look forward to some ideas on what to do here.
May I suggest to let this "experiment" run for a month, to see if it has any effect on the total number of useless posts?
And, adding to my blue text: can this be tested? If The Pharmacist and actmyname are in for it, I suggest to create a Meta thread where "red tagged shitposters" can volunteer. If needed, I'd be willing to check some post histories too.

As for newbies I like to suggest to give them a little bit freedom, like it's okay if they reply on threads with just a short message
The length of a post has nothing to do with it's quality and relevance.

Quote
or they posted similar but not exactly the same topic
Repeating the same over and over again on hundreds of pages isn't helping this forum.

Quote
Let them learn and explore.
You can do that by reading much more than you post.

Quote
But when they reach and started Jr. Member rank, and they still doing the same, atleast send a PM to inform them about their wrong doing or their repeated mistakes
It's already impossible to check posts for tens of thousands of accounts. Having to do it more than once makes it even more work. Giving up to 5 warnings as you suggested doesn't solve the spam problem.
Besides, I'm pretty sure most spammers use many different accounts. Giving them 5 different warnings on dozens of accounts is impossible. They know they create useless posts, but they don't care.

Quote
It's only a suggestion on my part, but I am so happy if some of them Can be carried out Bearcats don't like my account just to be band with out any warning or explanation....
You get a warning when some of your posts get deleted by Moderators. It's up to you what you do with that warning.

New negative trust color:
Red color :  Scammers
Yellow color : Spammers
With what goal? Giving campaigns the choice to accept spammers but not scammers? That doesn't make sense, neither one should be given any incentive to post.

1. First we need to define what is spam like what types of posts will be considered as spam. A proper guideline will help many people to improve themselves.
Do you really think spammers would read them? Signature Campaign Guidelines (read this before starting or joining a campaign) (by hilariousandco) give a good indication of what is expected.

Quote
2. Mega threads should be locked for not giving room to spammers.
Report them! I once quickly made a list of 20 spam megathreads based on post histories from a certain campaign, and 14 of them are deleted now. A central thread in Meta may be good for this (just like I did for copy/pasting).

Quote
3. Most sig. campaigns enforce minimum post limits. This enforces people to write even they do not have enough points to write.
If something can be said in 5 words, it shouldn't be extended into 20. It's okay not to get paid for all posts.

Add a second way to rate users, call it post score (or something similar), the system itself could even work the same way the trust system works (with only minor adjustments).
Might even add options to hide the post scores completely, if you do not care about that sort of governance/moderation.
Considering the number of accounts some people have, I expect this to be abused to silence people. I wouldn't mind a simple + or - to click at each post though (idea taken from Vod, who owes me a +1), maybe with extra weight for topic starters.
24031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Paper wallet and sweep on: January 24, 2018, 09:48:28 AM
I get a long error information.
What error do you get?

Quote
Shouldnt it be possible to transfer it to my Electrum wallet from my paper wallet?
Yes, this should be possible.
24032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to recover BTC sent to input address (sent from address)? on: January 23, 2018, 09:01:30 PM
Based on other threads, I think Coinbase uses their own (consolidated) addresses for withdrawals. That means Coinbase itself now owns the coins (instead of using someone else's deposit address). If I am right on this, they should be able to fix it for you. One way or another, you'll need their cooperation. I suggest you read this thread, then send them a message similar to this example.

If you've used an """input""" adress, ( as you call it.. ) -- so in other words an adress you have previously send a transaction with, ( how could you otherwise make an output from it, "send" anything from it) --, it should be a receiving adress at the same time, right? These stay valid no matter what.
Your reasoning works for a wallet, not for an exchange.
Say Alice deposits 1 Bitcoin to Coinbase, and sells it for dollars. Bob sends dollars to Coinbase, buys 1 Bitcoin, and sends that Bitcoin to Charlie. That 1 Bitcoin comes from someone else's "input".
Now, if Charlie decides to send 1 Bitcoin back to that "send from address", it won't end up in Bob's Coinbase account.
24033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction Questions on: January 23, 2018, 05:50:12 PM
The receipient of the transaction says he's not able to use the money I sent
This is correct if the parents have been spent elsewhere.

Quote
How can I stop it from using an unconfirmed input?
I don't know how to do this in blockchain.info.
24034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Autostart Bitcoin-Qt Ubuntu on: January 23, 2018, 05:31:44 PM
Result on the screenshot http://joxi.ru/zANWqWgcldoPBr
So it does save to that location.

Did it ever finish synchronisation completely? Or does it mean you don't have enough diskspace on that location (or on the default location)? Enter this in a console:
Code:
du -h /media/roman/04A24F39A24F2E8C/Bitcoin | tail -n 1
df -h | grep media
24035  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Autostart Bitcoin-Qt Ubuntu on: January 23, 2018, 03:11:06 PM
I thought it should appear one-time, but it appears every time you start .. how do I fix it?
Did you set this download location in the past? If so, can you check what DataDir is mentioned in ~/.config/Bitcoin/Bitcoin-Qt.conf ?
One way to answer this question: enter this in a console:
Code:
grep DataDir ~/.config/Bitcoin/Bitcoin-Qt.conf

Did it ever finish synchronisation completely? I can't read the Russian text, but since it's in red: does it mean you don't have enough diskspace on that location (or on the default location)?

What happens if you just click "OK"?
24036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Autostart Bitcoin-Qt Ubuntu on: January 23, 2018, 02:45:42 PM
I'm not sure what you're asking.

Do you want to disable the auto-start? If so:
In Bitcoin Core, click Settings > Options > Main tab (default) > toggle Start Bitcoin Core on system login.

Or does it give you an error message about "storage of blocks"? If so, what is the exact error?
24037  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust (DT) Network - DT1/2 Members on: January 23, 2018, 10:25:13 AM
~ However, the potential for abusing this and/or the DT system turning into a sort of "good ol' boys club" would be my fear.
DT-members are very divided in their views, look for example at the red trust some of them have given to other DT-members recently.
On the one hand it just looks bad that the most trusted people on this forum can't seem to agree, but on the other hand it shows it's not a "good old boys club" that protects eachother.

Quote
I'm interested in hearing other opinions & thoughts on this.
I've seen people get tagged red for much less than massive spamming. And although I'd prefer to just see all spammers who don't contribute anything in their posts banned, a red tag seems to have almost the same result: spam flourished for so long because it was barely punished, and it should get less when it doesn't pay anymore.
The fear of red trust could even stop some people from spamming when they create the next account, but many shitposters are too uneducated to improve much.

I feel as if it will only be a matter of time before a number of campaigns will simply adapt to this and remove the "No red trust" rule, which will ultimately result in a lot of time being wasted and leaving the trust system even more broken/misused then it is right now.
I had the same thought yesterday, this could combat it:
Another thought: how about disabling signatures for anyone with enough red trust on DT2?

Back to my own opinion: I appreciate the worst spammers getting tagged, but I wouldn't tag them by myself. I highly appreciate SMAS, and I made my own blacklist to safe me time if I run a campaign again.
24038  Other / Meta / Re: Good News for Scammers!!! on: January 23, 2018, 09:35:05 AM
For post quality,SMAS system was introduced and shit posters can easily be kicked out as good campaigns do support SMAS.
SMAS doesn't stop spam from campaigns (and altcoin bounty threads) that don't support it. I just hope campaigns won't start accepting red-trust spammers.
24039  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: LN : Question on scarcity of coins on: January 22, 2018, 07:49:20 PM
I've been putting off getting a solid understanding of lightning network because I haven't felt that I had the time available to read and absorb everything I want to know about it.
Same here, and I have a feeling most people have the same problem, which makes it hard to find reliable information.

Quote
I'd be happy to establish a channel with you once I'm sure that I understand what that means (hopefully early next week sometime).
I'm nowhere near having it installed.
24040  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: LN : Question on scarcity of coins on: January 22, 2018, 07:46:47 PM
I foresee a new way for people to build trust and reputation (and possibly lose it) through LN.
As far as I know (I feel like I need this "disclaimer" on anything I post about LN) Lightning Network is trustless. The only thing someone can do, is broadcast transactions for on-chain settlement. I wonder (or worry) about the fee-implications that can have on a hub though.

I envision LN to be for payments what Bittorrent is for downloads: one client program that does whatever you tell it to do, connecting on it's own to as many hubs as needed, without the user having to worry (or understand) how it does this.
If this can be made into a simple GUI, I'll be very happy!
