2421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Piooner, Hal Finney and Eight Years Remembrance on: August 30, 2022, 05:34:38 AM
They say he worked right to the end, coding for Bitcoin until he died. What a legend.... and also privileged to be one of the first people to work with Satoshi Nakamoto. (not a lot of people had that privilege)

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) took his body, but it could not take his legacy. A lot of people go out of this world, without making any significant impact on the world, but Hal Finney left it with the knowledge that he improved a lot of people's lives.  Wink

Rest in Peace ... Hal Finney!
2422  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1 - The copycat epidemic within crypto casinos. on: August 29, 2022, 11:39:28 AM
With gambling platforms beyond certain point it isn't possible to innovate things. Maybe the interface and the colour schemes can be varied. In that way everything is a copycat. With different games, maybe the providers can vary. With sports betting, the odds can have slight variation. These days the success of the gambling sites were much on the trust it have got and the support and interest the service provider takes in solving an acquisition against the platform. So, even the copycat can succeed if it is able to provide the best service than the Originals.

The thing is... businesses build a brand, for example McDonald's and Wallmart etc... and they even take people to court if they copy their fonts or color in their company name, when they copy it. It is bad for their "Brand" if these copy cat sites misuse their image for their own profits and when they do not give the same level of customer satisfaction as the original company.

When you play at a very popular casino, you get a good experience... because their support is fast or their deposit and withdrawals are fast, but when you get to the copy cat sites... those things might be lacking.... and then you feel cheated. (They look like they are part of a franchise or a group of casinos... so you expect top quality from them)  Roll Eyes

I actually asked "Eddie" from Stake.com during his weekly stream about the "friend" that opened a very similar casino to Stake.com and he said "not that I recall" ....but he also said that they are not too worried about sites copying their concept and that it was actually flattering that other people were doing this. (I guess, if you are printing money like them, you would not mind a lot if people copied you)

There are not a lot of big casino software developers out there, so I figure some people just buy a white label casino template from these guys and they just change the color scheme a little to fire up a new casino.  Roll Eyes
2424  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: preev.net - what it should have and how it should look? on: August 29, 2022, 06:26:36 AM
Nice work brother. The only thing I see is missing: The live update. It does not update the way it used to for preev. It updated only page refresh only.

It just looks bad when we discuss this site and when we saw it online.... and now it's been "offline" for a long time. Cmon, you can do better than this. Are you having technical difficulties with the site... or did you stop the project?
This could be a hosting issue too. If it's just a regular shared hosting then excessive traffic will make the site unavailable. I assume the site should already have good traffic from search engine because people like us always look for preev in their browser. So a good hosting will be needed at the end.

Nah, my apologies.... it was my mistake, because I am so used to typing my own urls... I typed www.preev.net and it should be https://preev.net/     Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I am going to wait until the extra Fiat currencies are added, before I am going to use it more frequently, otherwise I will have to do two calculations to get to the fiat value of the bitcoins I want to calculate.  Wink
2425  Economy / Economics / Re: State Of Corruption In Nigeria Amidst World Corruption on: August 29, 2022, 06:13:21 AM
The government are not leading from the front, so you will find that the corruption will filter through to the general public too. The “Nigerian prince” scam, also known as the “419” scam has gone viral all over the world, but it started in Nigeria.  Roll Eyes

I have worked on contract in Nigeria (Lagos / Ibadan / Benin City) and bribery was part of the challenges that we had to face, when we worked there. This made us part of the problem, because we gave in to the request for money to get things done. (time is money, when you deal with African time)  Roll Eyes
2426  Economy / Gambling / Re: Some Crazy Fun Facts About Casinos And Gambling You Might Not Know. on: August 29, 2022, 05:57:05 AM
I think the two most shocking points was the "urination" on the chairs.... and that Las Vegas is not the gambling capital of the world. I have had some instances where I visited a casino and I got a whiff of urine ....but I thought it was older people with weak bladders having a accident... but normal people doing that..... no no no!

Also, to think that China of all places...has the biggest casinos... was a bit of an eye opener for me. I think the western world just accepted that Las Vegas was the gambling capital of the world, because most movies are creating that perception.  Roll Eyes
2427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The September effect on: August 29, 2022, 05:43:53 AM
One strange thing someone told me about September was that it was seen as the "Birthday" month for many people, because a lot of babies are conceived during the December holidays when people are in a holiday mood...and 9 months later in September, the babies are born.

So, people have a lot of Birthday parties to arrange and presents to buy, so they have less money to spend on investments in September... compared to other months of the year.  Roll Eyes
2428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Take This 2 Minutes Nine Step Quiz To Access Yourself In Gambling on: August 28, 2022, 06:58:54 PM
It says I am a "Low-Risk Gambler" .... and I agree with it, because I can stop whenever I want to and I do not have a constant urge to gamble. I see gambling as something like entertainment, even if it can be a bit stressful at times.

The Quiz will ask some hard questions ... that some people will lie about... so the outcome might not be the correct result, if people are not honest with the answering of the questions.
2429  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: preev.net - what it should have and how it should look? on: August 28, 2022, 07:41:44 AM
It will help if you can keep the site "online" for a couple of hours during the day, because it has been offline or unavailable for days. If it is still under construction... then you should announce that, when people visit the site.

It just looks bad when we discuss this site and when we saw it online.... and now it's been "offline" for a long time. Cmon, you can do better than this. Are you having technical difficulties with the site... or did you stop the project?

During Eddie's Stream yesterday... I asked him .."if one of his friends opened a new casino that are almost identical to Stake.com" and he said "NO" .... so I hope you are saying the truth if you are saying you are one of his friends.

The positive things was..... Eddie said, in principle ... that they are not threatened by competitors using their concept or look... and that they are actually flattered by it.  Grin

I like the P v P concept ... so I will support this site, because they have something different. In some of my previous posts I actually advocated for sites to implement P v P .... because it is an unique concept that will draw in a lot of new business.  Wink

2431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you all ignore alternative tech on Bitcoin? on: August 28, 2022, 07:24:31 AM
So, how do you suggest... we stop people from making their own choices?

Everyone is free to create their own coins and also to decide what coins they want to buy. We are interested in the success of Bitcoin and crypto currencies...

A lot of us believe the development of Alt coins can be beneficial to Bitcoin, because it is the breeding ground for innovation. Bitcoin can cannibalize any technology it wants to... so if something groundbreaking are developed by someone else... then Bitcoin can use that too.  Wink
2432  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What would happen to bitcoin if all bitcoin-related stuff on GitHub got banned? on: August 26, 2022, 11:24:36 AM
I think the main problem will be the spreading of the information (URLs or links) to the new sources, without people pushing exploited repositories or trying to do it. (Now I know most binaries can be verified to make sure that it is a "legit" copy of the actual code, but it creates confusion and possible loopholes for exploitation )

Imagine all the forum posts pointing to the current GitHub and then when changes takes place.... to have legitimate links being distributed to the new repositories.  Roll Eyes

The US are not the only country that are offering file hosting services, but they have a lot of influence to pressurize other countries to follow their actions, if these services are hosted in other countries.  I think we (Bitcoin) ...should have redundancy in place for every possible attack on Bitcoin.... even if it is forced to go underground. 2433  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: preev.net - what it should have and how it should look? on: August 26, 2022, 07:42:59 AM
When Preev.com was still working, I had it open at all times.... it showed the BTC price in the browser tab.. so I did not even had to have the page open to see the recent price. (that is very convenient, because you can go on with other things... and still see what happens with the price)  Wink

I also liked that it had several FIAT currencies (including my countries currency) ...so it was very easy to do the conversion when I wanted to do it. (provide a lot of Fiat currencies ...please)

It also gave us the option to choose which data source we want to use to display the price, which was a very neat feature. The main thing I liked about Preev.com was it's simplicity..... you do not have too much clutter on the page and it was advertisement free.  Wink

Adding a lot of Alt coins are just going to complicate issues... and possibly slow down the site?
2434  Economy / Economics / Re: How Flexible Are You With Pricing Options? on: August 26, 2022, 06:57:38 AM
flexible pricing will not work with large companies, because the sales person is just an employee of the large corporation and he has no mandate to haggle for lower or higher prices. This will also create a lot of confusion and complexity with the accounting side of large corporations like this, because they work with fixed markups and discount systems.

A small informal business are totally different and you can haggle for a better price, because the sales person are usually the owner or someone in the family that are running the operation. (This is more suitable for a Market environment, where you have loads of small stalls and a lot of competition)

I have to say, there are large "Malls" ....in places like Singapore, where you have tons of small businesses that compete for business and it is a lot of fun to haggle with these sales persons.  Wink
2435  Bitcoin / Press / [2022-08-26] 72% of Russians say they have never bought Bitcoin: Survey on: August 26, 2022, 06:39:52 AM
https://cointelegraph.com/news/72-of-russians-say-they-have-never-bought-bitcoin-survey

"A new survey hints at a lack of crypto awareness in Russia as only 6% of respondents were found to have a good knowledge of crypto."

According to estimations by InDeFi CEO Sergey Mendeleev, the number of active and passive crypto users in Russia currently amounts to less than 1% of the total 144.4 million population.

I was amazed that the figures were so low, with all the sanctions and currency restrictions being placed on Russia. We know Bitcoin and Crypto currency adoption increase, when restrictions are placed on centralized Fiat systems.

So why is this so low?
2436  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you play Slots? (long sessions / jumper / focussed) on: August 26, 2022, 06:01:58 AM
I've brought up this conversation before and kind of got a lock of flack for suggesting that there might be some legitimate ways to learn how to get an advantage when playing.  It sort of seemed like there's no proof at all that any strategies work, however my buddy and I who've I've been going to casinos with since we were of age, always would play slots after a player had sat on them for hours on end.  Likely zero true advantage here, but it was a strategy that we liked and ended up working a decent bit.

Yes, when I was much younger.. this strategy worked on the old coin Slot machines. You sat there watching and waiting for hours to see which machines are paying and how occupied it was, because in theory that machine filled up with coins and it was supposed to pay out when it was full.  Roll Eyes

Things have changed a lot since then, now everything are digital and no coins are put into Slots. Most of these Slots are linked and several casinos are hosting the same Slots. (Even watching what the big streamers are playing is a waste of time)  Roll Eyes
2437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mine a Bitcoin or buy a bitcoin? on: August 26, 2022, 05:44:09 AM
I cannot believe people are still investing money into "Cloud mining" services, because most of them are just Ponzi Schemes.  Roll Eyes  A lot of people have burnt their fingers with these "Cloud mining" services, but they still invest in that nonsense.

If you want to work your way up to owning a bitcoin, you should rather buy small amounts on a regular basis, when the price is low. When the price increase.... sell for a profit and wait for the price to drop again.. then use that profit and buy more bitcoin. (before you know it, you will own a full bitcoin)  Wink

Investing in ASICS (Hardware) to mine Bitcoin is not profitable for the small miners and the additional cost to run the miners make it even less profitable.  Sad
2438  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚨🤑 BestVouch.com / BEST Casino Bonuses, FREE Rewards and More. on: August 25, 2022, 01:23:18 PM
Is there a way that you can add a service where you can actually test the claimed, "Provably Fair" systems and also the reported RTP of the games? I personally think a lot of this is being manipulated, based on the income and expenses of the specific casino.

Who determine the RTP for 3rd party developer Slots? ( The 3rd party or the Casino ? ) .....Can casinos for instance alter the RTP, for different times of the day... or based on their needs... or is this fixed for all 3rd party games?
2439  Economy / Economics / Re: Europe's drought the worst in 500 years on: August 25, 2022, 11:16:38 AM
I have not seen a huge increase in the building of Desalination plants across Europe, with the desalination capacity of Europe that has been recently estimated at 8.7 million m3/day, which is around 9% of the global installed capacity. People should realize that "Water Wars" are going to be a real thing in the immediate future and that we should not just rely on rain to be the primary source of water. Large cities should create under ground water storage facilities to supplement their water needs and water tanks should be subsidized by governments to make people self sufficient.   Wink
2440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you play Slots? (long sessions / jumper / focussed) on: August 25, 2022, 06:51:30 AM
It is actually very interesting to see the different strategies that people follow to play Slots. A lot of my friends are also gamblers and some of them ignore "Variance" and "RTP" and "Client Seed" etc..... they say it comes down to "timing" and "luck".

A lot of them will look at what the "Streamers" and "highrollers" are playing and then they will jump in, if these people are not winning. (Hoping to grab some of the money that these people are pushing into these Slots)  - They believe that all bets goes into one "Pot" for each of these individual games.

Some of them believe that "timing" are crucial.... so they will play when people from large countries are awake and at home. They even play at the most insane times to "cash in" on this supposed "Golden hours".
