2421  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If I get heart Attack that is because of BITCOIN on: October 02, 2022, 02:04:22 AM
I guess you've made a premature entry into buying and selling Bitcoin. You should have known beforehand that the price of Bitcoin has always been fluctuating. Bitcoin is volatile. It always has this tendency to quickly rise and fall. Somebody who isn't familiar with how the price of Bitcoin moves shouldn't get into buying and selling Bitcoin.

But, quite frankly, I don't know what you're talking about. The price of Bitcoin for the past days and even weeks has been more or less stable. What hard pumps are you talking about?
2422  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this statiscally possible in a lottery? on: October 02, 2022, 01:40:52 AM
I can't say whether this lottery or at least this particular draw is rigged or not although there have already been many talks about it. But I guess the pattern of the winning numbers is simply a coincidence. If this is indeed rigged, those who chose the winning combination should have picked random numbers. Picking a winning combination such as this would only ignite suspicion. If players doubt, they might not play anymore. That means a loss in revenue.

Another surprising thing about this is that there are 433 winners of the jackpot. Normally, there's only 1 or 2 of them. Sometimes none at all.
2423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Favorite Misconceptions About Bitcoin on: October 01, 2022, 02:17:53 PM
I'm not sure if I already read this somewhere but it seems familiar.

Anyway, perhaps the most widespread misconception about Bitcoin isn't even on the list, and it is that Bitcoin is a way to get rich. While it is indeed possible that Bitcoin would rise in fiat price, it isn't a vehicle to get rich. This is a misconception that has actually brought a lot of Bitcoin supporters. And this misconception is strengthened or reinforced because the price has indeed multiplied thousands of times. But it doesn't mean Bitcoin is a get-rich pill. It simply isn't.
2424  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Now I know why offline is very important with crypto wallet seeds on: October 01, 2022, 12:03:03 PM
Pen and paper is indeed a safer combination than typing your seed phrase on a computer. But you need to consider that by the time you keep your seed phrase somewhere hidden and safe, it is most likely forgotten for years or even decades. After all, you don't need them for deposits and withdrawals.

So there's a tendency that by the time you check on it, some words are already illegible or some characters unidentifiable. High humidity, for example, could completely destroy the characters. Or the ink might have already faded, deforming the words. So it's probably wise to consider steel seed phrase storage like Billfodl or Cryptosteel's.
2425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woman Abandons 4-year-old Child In Gambling Shop As Collateral After Huge Losses on: October 01, 2022, 11:03:58 AM
It's not stated in the news, but I'm curious, was the mother able to play because she offered her child as a collateral? Because if the gambling shop didn't accept her offer then she should've brought her son along with her when she returned home. But why is the child left at the shop? Was the offer accepted and then she went on gambling and lost that's why she had to leave her son? Either way, this child shouldn't be returned to her anymore.
2426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More reasons why it will always be Bitcoin for me on: October 01, 2022, 10:43:36 AM
Actually, saving is indeed a good practice. When we were kids, we're also taught to save so that when the time comes that we want to buy something we won't have to ask money from our parents. That's fine, I think. And probably because that's short-term.

This might not really be as interesting when talking about adults saving huge sums of money for long-term purposes like saving for their kids' college education. For one, the thing with fiat savings in a bank is that fiat is fast losing its value that the bank's interest cannot make up for what's lost. By the time the savings is withdrawn, it has already lost so much purchasing power.
2427  Economy / Economics / Re: Can commodities return to its price last year? on: October 01, 2022, 10:10:21 AM
The thing with the rising of prices of goods and services during a crisis is that by the time things are going back to normal, the prices remain the same. Pre-pandemic prices of goods and services were relatively low. At the height of the pandemic, prices rose to new levels. Now that the new normal has taken over and the dust of COVID-19 has already settled down, the prices remain high. Although certain goods and services may have some little rollback in price, majority of them won't anymore adjust.
2428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Censorship in Bitcoin online forums on: September 30, 2022, 01:51:09 PM
It's moderated, so it's of course possible for a certain post to get deleted. Even here, a post could get deleted. In any centralized platform, a post could get deleted. So perhaps there is something about your post that it needs to be deleted by the mods. But moderators don't just delete randomly or for the sake of deleting. By the looks of it, it's probably that you're heavily accusing something without solid bases. If you allege that there is market manipulation, for example, it should come with proofs.
2429  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How I Increased My Bitcoin and crypto Portfolio by 36% on: September 30, 2022, 12:50:56 PM
HODLing may not really be enough, but it is definitely the easiest and safest way to keep your portfolio intact. The sad thing about mere HODLing is that your asset doesn't increase. That's something that is quite frustrating to many of us who won't ever be satisfied with the amount of Bitcoin that we own. If I HODL 1BTC, I'd still be having 1BTC after 5 years.

This is one of the reasons why many try trading or, worse, get into staking, lending, investing, or whatever risky thing they could do with their Bitcoin in centralized platforms. In the end, instead of having 1 whole Bitcoin, they have less, or even nothing at all if they end up becoming victims to exit scams or rug pulls.

There's a reason why HODLing somehow becomes a classic.
2430  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is crypto hot wallet that bad on: September 30, 2022, 12:14:57 PM
I have also been using hot wallets myself and was never hacked as well. But this doesn't mean I can completely rely on them as if it is the safest thing to do. We all know the strengths and weaknesses of wallets. And in terms of security, a cold wallet is definitely better than a hot wallet. Funds stored in cold wallets are less likely to get stolen. Let us all be safe than sorry. Prevention is better than cure. When are we going to take Bitcoin storage seriously, when our funds are already stolen?
2431  Economy / Economics / Re: SO MANY BLACK SWANS FOR ONE YEAR on: September 30, 2022, 11:47:27 AM
The jump in energy cost , make the mining not so profitable than before. The mining industry its living a really decay and you can see this, browsing not so much,a lot of companies are in bankruptcy.

Would you care to provide us the facts behind this claim? While there are indeed a lot of miners who are probably suffering from the blows of increasing energy cost, I have yet to read news about Bitcoin mining companies declaring bankruptcy.

There are probably a number of them who were forced to prematurely sell their Bitcoin just to continue with their operations, but this doesn't mean miners right now are operating at a loss. As a matter of fact, mining difficulty and the Bitcoin hash rate have been hitting ATHs very recently. And this means only one thing, that Bitcoin mining remains attractive and more players are actually coming in.
2432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be Palestine's currency of freedom?? on: September 30, 2022, 11:02:12 AM
Bitcoin is a currency of the free. So it doesn't matter where you are in the world for you to make the most of Bitcoin. Whether you are in the US or Sweden or Palestine, Bitcoin provides you the opportunity to deal with other people without having to go through a third party.

In the case of Palestine, though, where the people are being subjected to rules and laws that may not really be of their preference, Bitcoin is a much more attractive option. In the face of an antagonistic authority, a currency that can't be censored is the better choice.
2433  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don’t Always Flaunt Your Wealth And Wallet Online on: September 29, 2022, 12:40:31 PM
It is not even enough to just say, "don't always flaunt your wealth." It appears as if it is completely all right to flaunt it sometimes or seldom. The truth is that it is never a wise idea to flaunt your wealth anytime. Keep your riches to yourself. For one, others won't be happy for you that you are becoming wealthy. And, of course, others would only think of ways to get that wealth off you. So whether this story is true or not, the lesson is there.
2434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoin CBDC on: September 29, 2022, 11:50:31 AM
With CBDCs, transactions are monitored for their movements, but I don't think they could be completely monitored for the reasons of the transactions. A certain amount of CBDC moving from one wallet to another may be known by the government but I doubt if they fully know whether it was for a kilo of potato or for a bag of corn or for a haircut or for a Bitcoin. There's probably still a number of ways to somehow circumvent the monitoring capabilities of CBDC issuers.
2435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you change your mind on gambling ? on: September 29, 2022, 09:27:45 AM
At the start of the implementation of the new law, I might stop gambling. Normally, the strictest phase of policy implementation is when it is newly released. So I probably would cease from gambling. But as soon as I observe among other gamblers that they are freely gambling online without the authorities even noticing them, I might also try. But if I see that those who are violating the law by moving into online gambling are penalized, I might as well stop gambling for good.
2436  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: In future when crypto is everywhere how will we protect ourselves? on: September 29, 2022, 08:57:42 AM
Actually, I have already thought about this many times. To me, this is a real problem. And this has already happened to a number of people. So I think crypto robbery incidents would rise as adoption also rises. So if everybody is already his/her own bank, then it is indeed easier to rob a bank. This is the reason why I now prefer not to discuss about Bitcoin with other people, even friends and relatives.

When the day comes that everybody uses Bitcoin and keeps their wealth in Bitcoin, the question will always be, will you be a good bank? How safe of a custodian are you?
2437  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation is a creeping beast on: September 29, 2022, 07:41:52 AM
The truth is that these large-scale investors and these large manufacturers and producers are not really suffering that much from the ill effects of inflation. You know what, I'm even amazed here in my country that despite all the economic downturns brought by the pandemic, the violence in Europe, the falling of our fiat's value compared to foreign currencies, the rising of prices, and so on, large businesses are registering high profit growth. This only means that however severe inflation is, these businesses thrive because all the burden is actually passed on to consumers.
2438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: About Casino Licenses on: September 28, 2022, 10:21:22 AM
^

Do you seriously think that if an online casino bought a license Curacao its users can be sure that it will not close tomorrow? The casino can be registered to a complete stranger as personal presence is not required to obtain a license in Curacao.

Just do not keep a large amount in the account and read the reviews on the casino, and then the issue with the license will be irrelevant to you.

I am not saying this. This is a completely different story. I was speaking in general terms. A license means accountability. A licensed casino has strict terms and regulations that they need to abide with. Violations of which could mean fines, penalties like suspension, or even the end of their operation by way of cancelling their registration.

If we go into particulars, though, there are different standards. Curacao license is one that is easy and cheap to obtain.
2439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: About Casino Licenses on: September 28, 2022, 09:21:16 AM
It is possible not just to open a casino but to also operate it without a license. But it isn't legal to operate a casino that is not legally-registered. I have read comments before saying that there are actually casinos that operated first before receiving their license. I don't think this is the right sequence. I think for a casino to formally launch and open, a license is required. So a license should come first.

Yes, a license means trust and confidence of users. It also means protection and accountability. A casino that is not accountable to the law is a casino that is most likely to scam.
2440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: About Online casino/gambling projects on: September 28, 2022, 08:53:42 AM
I guess it's probably about management and whether there's enough patrons to sustain operations. But, yes, there are crypto casinos that have been in operation for many years, for almost a decade in the case of Primedice, for example.

Today, the competition has been elevated to a whole new level with the influx of new crypto casinos. Crypto gamblers are, of course, limited so crypto casinos are highly competing against each other. It's now a battle of features, perks and privileges, marketing and sponsorships, and so on.
