24301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I have a TX with 6928 confirmations but total balance is still pending on: December 29, 2017, 08:44:58 PM
Yes the address is as you mentioned:
16u1VqPgTnGrAXQreLFBbVoUkgaATeHXKA
That's something!

Quote
I'll try to install the electrum software (probably takes 200GB to download the block chain again right?)
No, just a few MB.

Sure it can...
True, but I meant the part where his 2.8 Bitcoin went from confirmed to pending. That part I don't get.
I think I get what you mean: someone else is broadcasting HIS outgoing transaction so that 2.8 is CHANGE from the 2.9 Bitcoin he had in his wallet. Correct?
If that's the case, I still don't understand why it doesn't show up on block explorers.
24302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I have a TX with 6928 confirmations but total balance is still pending on: December 29, 2017, 08:27:49 PM
Oh no, 10 minutes ago the total balance was available and now the old situation has returned! this is how it looks (again):

avail: 0.0002
pend: 2.8
total:  2.8002
I'm flabbergasted, this can't be Shocked

Can you try this:
Click Settings > Options > Wallet > Enable coin control features > OK
Click Send > Inputs > check the "Received with address" for your 0.0002BTC.
Is that address 16u1VqPgTnGrAXQreLFBbVoUkgaATeHXKA ? (It should be)

Quote
Anyways 2.8 pending is better then 0 total Wink
But it can't be after a zap & rescan, it should be confirmed. Something is definitely off.

Quote
thanks guys (will make my payment from electrum then LoyceV Wink )
Download Electrum, set up a new wallet, safely write down and store your word seed phrase, and sweep your private key from Bitcoin Core. Don't bother importing, just sweep it onto a new address in Electrum and go from there.

To get your private key out of Bitcoin Core:
Click Help > Debug Window > Console > Enter walletpassphrase yoursupersecretpassword 300
(the above unlocks your wallet for 300 seconds)
Enter dumpprivkey 16u1VqPgTnGrAXQreLFBbVoUkgaATeHXKA
This should show the private key. Sweep it into your brand new Electrum (and pay a high enough fee).

Assuming you have the private key to 16u1VqPgTnGrAXQreLFBbVoUkgaATeHXKA, this should work. If you don't have the private key, you're screwed Sad

DO NOT post the private key!

Update: you keep saying 2.8, and I assume that's the 2.9 from 633f05443310c5012c5a0360299c3627b8d838af1fbe4aa4a4ab20d74521d04b. I'm starting to think the 2.8 is from a different transaction, that would mean the 0.0002 is from a different address, and that would mean 16u1VqPgTnGrAXQreLFBbVoUkgaATeHXKA isn't part of your wallet.
24303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I have a TX with 6928 confirmations but total balance is still pending on: December 29, 2017, 08:09:18 PM
It works, great!

Sorry for giving up so fast! With a rescan it works brilliant !
Great! Now I only wonder why the rescan without zapping wasn't enough, but who cares, it works!

Quote
Can you leave your public key LoyceV ? (then i can do a first test  payment to you!)
Cool Cheesy You'll find my address in my profile (click my name).
One more tip: you also wanted to pay a friend, if you click Add Recipient on the Send tab, you can send funds to more than one address at once. This saves a lot in fees compared to making several transactions (and if everybody would do this, it would reduce the congestion on the Bitcoin network).

Thank you so much!
Glad to help, I love the feeling of finding back crypto, even if it isn't mine.

ID verification. Let people show their passports to be registered Cool

phone to verify
verify via email
Theymos values privacy, he didn't like to be forced to use Cloudflare for that reason, he allows total anonymous TOR-access, and I expect there is zero chance he'll require any ID or phone verifications.

Nice try NSA!
24305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I have a TX with 6928 confirmations but total balance is still pending on: December 29, 2017, 07:07:27 PM
Well I tried "bitcoin-qt -rescan". It went from 1 % to 100% in 10 minutes or so. Not bad at all. But ...
Let me guess: you're running it from an SSD? It takes my PC 2 hours!

Quote
My new wallet has had an total activity of 3 Transaction. First two where transferring the old wallet balance. The third transaction was a test transaction of sending 0.05 BTC to a friends wallet.
The third transaction has 0 confirmations, it was offered to the network with a fee of 0.00000224 BTC. Obviously i was to greedy, because from 20 december up to now (28th of dec) nobody put it in a new blockchain. The transaction id of the third transaction can't be found anymore on Blockchain.info so i guess it is officially dead now.
I'd say try the zap-thing:
Code:
bitcoin-qt -zapwallettxes
That will also get rid of your unconfirmed transactions in your wallet, if it's also dropped from mempool you can make it again.

Quote
My available balance is 0.0002 BTC (my pending balance is still 2.Cool. Should i try to send my last available balance to get the third TX afloat ? Silently hoping that this will get al of my pending total back to available, or is it something else?
It's a different input and has nothing to do with RBF.

If the zap-thing doesn't work, next step is to export your private key. Since you have the 0.0002, your wallet should have the private key to the 2.9 at the same address. I kinda expect the zap-thing to work, but if it doesn't, the next step would be to export your private key and import or sweep it into Electrum.

I have a processed number of blocks of 501568 (looks like thats up to date (?) )
That is accurate indeed.

Quote
But still there is a pending total of +/- 2.8 BTC
I can try to move the private key to Electrum (thanks for the suggestion!) But i rather do it as last resort.
I prefer to understand what's going on.
I've had some unexpected results too after an upgrade of Bitcoin Core in the past: New install, new version of Bitcoin Core, weird Pending amount [SOLVED].
In my case it wasn't a real transaction going into my wallet.
If 16u1VqPgTnGrAXQreLFBbVoUkgaATeHXKA is part of your receiving addresses, it should show up after a rescan.

I got recommended this:
Code:
bitcoin-qt -zapwallettxes
Full description:
Code:
  -zapwallettxes=<mode>
Delete all wallet transactions and only recover those parts of the
blockchain through -rescan on startup (1 = keep tx meta data e.g.
account owner and payment request information, 2 = drop tx meta
       data)
I think a rescan is enough, if not, you can always still use zapwallettxes on your wallet. Make a backup first though!

Can it have anything to do with to transactions i've send from my old wallet (which was with Qt on windows 7) to my new wallet (which is on Linux Mint with Bitcoin Core) ?
On the same evening i started with sending 0.0002 BTC to my new wallet, to see if public keys were correct etc. This transactions has also more than 6000 confirmations. And this transaction is now shown as available balance ! (i would rather have it the other way around Wink  first TX pending second available)
I can't tell you the exact cause, but I've seen wallet.dat files mess up before.

Quote
Final question: can i start rescan from the debug window? Or if that's impossible how do i start a rescan from a linux terminal?
Just do it from a terminal:
Code:
bitcoin -rescan
I'm not sure if "bitcoin" is the default name, or that I created that simlink on my own. You may need to use this:
Code:
bitcoin-qt -rescan
This may take a while Tongue

24309  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Declaring profits in the European Union on: December 29, 2017, 11:48:44 AM
Are you an European Union citizen or resident?
The EU isn't one country with one tax system, it's all different countries with different taxes.

Quote
If yes, when are you declaring your cryptocurrency profit?
I can only speak for the country I live in, and split it up my tax declarations in two categories:
-Trading or increase in value: never! Trading on a non-commercial basis isn't taxed, there is no capital gain tax. We have an annual tax based on the value of everything we own though.
-Earnings: always Sad For income tax I declare the euro value the moment I earn it.

Quote
when do you this declaration?
Taxes are filed once per year here.
Note that I'm talking for consumers only, if you're a company, or earn Bitcoin from mining, it gets more complicated.

Quote
If 3), did the tax office knocked your door to ask about the unusual deposits in your bank account?
This is the exact reason why you shouldn't try to hide your crypto from taxes. If it's ever worth enough to buy something big, you want to be able to do so (without being treated as a drug dealer).

My question is related only to the profit you can make from converting Bitcoin to Euro, after you bought it for a cheaper price. Easy example: you buy 1 BTC for 1K EUR, you sell it six months later for 10K EUR. You made a profit of 9K EUR. I suppose you need to pay a tax for that 9K EUR profit.
No, I don't Cheesy
It would help for your question if you say which country you live in.

24311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BCH VS BTC FEES. on: December 29, 2017, 09:11:25 AM
I was planning to make a small transaction of 50$ I was asked fees of 211$ by Bitcoin cash
A wallet would show fees in crypto-units, not dollars, so I'm curious which wallet you used. This is not what I've experienced with Bitcoin Cash: as much as I hate having to say it, the transactions I made were faster and much cheaper than Bitcoin.
24312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I have a TX with 6928 confirmations but total balance is still pending on: December 29, 2017, 09:00:38 AM
Has anyone ever encountered a situation where a transaction is confirmed (more than 6000 times) but the total balance is still pending?
I suggest you make a backup of your wallet.dat (you should of course have backups already, but make a new one anyway!), and start Bitcoin Core with the -rescan flag on it's command line. See if that makes Bitcoin Core realize it's confirmed already.

Code:
  -rescan
Rescan the block chain for missing wallet transactions on startup

Thank you LoyceV, this is where I must admit to keep falling off the horse & land face first in dried up cow dung... Here I am thinking that my Electrum private key my Seed phrase, which encompasses all addresses... I mean to say I thought to only have one singular private key... oh wait no, the private key is a Hash ... the private hash to the public one... ok, now I'm diving in deeper than my lungs can take me... shizenpoop Sad
This is a private key: L3pSQB9Y7Atx3tjDbjzX49...............
This is a word seed phrase: gasp quarter main brave turn like reflect ...........................
The seed phrase can be used to generate an infinite number of private keys.

I do have coinb.in... this is @ verify : Transaction Script

Forget about your existing transaction here, there's no use for that in coinb.in, as it's signed already.

Quote
Then I am @ a loss of what action to take on the "Sign" page... where do I find the private key to an address? &.. aw geeez... so many questions, so late in the game uhg, sorry thank you for helping
Don't sign anything, you'll need to set up a new transaction first.

I was under the impression Electrum allows to export one private key at a time. I just tested it, and when I click Wallet > Private keys > Export, it exports all of them. Considering you have 46 Bitcoin stored in there, I wouldn't recommend doing this on any hot wallet.

Side track: I still don't get why you entered your Ledger seed in Electrum. The whole point of having a Ledger is to use the Ledger to sign transactions, instead of a hot wallet.
24314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 29, 2017, 08:31:38 AM
where is his direct response to the fact the entire thread is discussing the moving of gbyte to mbyte
Tony is a technical person, I don't think it matters to him, just like it doesn't matter to me. Moving to 1 MBYTE makes them 1000 times cheaper than 1 GBYTE, but there are also 1000 more units available: 1 BILLION! Now, there are only 1 million GBYTES, which is really not much.
Based on the same theory you could also move to kbyte, they'll be a fraction of a cent!

I've changed my mind on this though, I'm now in favour of moving to smaller units. For Bitcoin, I set all my wallets to mBTC too, and if you were to buy a coffee with either one of them, paying x "units" is more convenient than paying 0.00x units. It looks much more like dollars or whatever currency people are used to.

A friend of mine wanted to buy some altcoins, I mentioned a few, and she said she can buy Bitcore, because it's only like $15 and she can afford that.
I'd say move to MBYTE, and make that the default unit for newly installed wallets too.

Question for the exchange bot owners:
Would it be possible to create a GUI web interface to trade from? I like how it's possible to exchange in chat, but it's much less intuitive than a GUI would be. If we can setup trades in the GUI, then make the transaction from the Byteball wallet, that would be great, and I expect more people would use it.
24315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Need help with expired transaction on: December 28, 2017, 10:02:05 PM
I did some reading on here and got electrum and imported my keys into it thinking somehow I could solve the problem there but it seems to have the same issue. It shows as pending in there. I have heard you can do a double spend with a higher fee but electrum won't let me spend them it says not enough funds.
I've used Bitcoin Core in the past to create a double spend, but that means a 150 GB download if you don't have it installed.
User Thirdspace wrote instructions here on how to double spend using coinb.in. He wrote this for that specific thread, so you'll need to create your own transaction and can't use the one he has in Code-tags. This can be tricky though, so make sure you know what you're doing before entering any private keys on a website!

If you're not in a hurry, you can just wait until the transaction is dropped and Electrum allows you to make a new transaction.

But: current recommended fee is 559 satoshi/byte for a fast transaction. For a 15,231 bytes transaction that's 0.085BTC, more than halve of your total. You can probably go a lot lower than the amount recommended for a fast transaction, but it can take a while to confirm.

24317  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Faster way to recover bitcoin core wallet re: verifying blockchain on: December 28, 2017, 08:20:00 PM
You don't need to "recover" your wallet, you just need to load it. The difference is that your coins aren't lost yet. Did you make another backup of your wallet, to be sure this doesn't happen?

It is rare that it takes more than a week for the initial sync, but I understand this can still be a lot of time for someone.
It still depends on your hardware (I used to run a backup-chain on my old netbook with 1 GB ram, but gave up as it takes months to sync).

Looked Bitcore up & Coinomi says it's worth $15 but that's good enough for me Smiley
The $300 I mentioned was for 23, not per coin. I've added that to the original, I see the confusion.
The airdrop was halve a BTX per BTC

Quote
So I "could" reseed my Coinomi with my Electrum right now & perhaps the unpicked up transaction may actually drop & show in there...?
I would definitely NOT do that! Every new seed import is a new risk. I trust Coinomi up to like $300 at the moment, it's a hot Android wallet, I wouldn't give it access to funds worth a house.

A little scary when it's all the btc I've got left :/ already lost well over 220btc in the last 4 years... gulp

You can still do the double spend I mentioned, you can also use Bitcoin Core (if you have it installed) or coinb.in (very good to get sweaty palms again!) to do it. But: export only 1 private key, take one with a low balance (say 0.01BTC), so you only risk a low amount. Don't risk your coins trying to rush things.

One (offtopic) questions: why move them to Bitfinex? It's more than $600k you trust an exchange with!

Any insight on how to get my bgold from Electrum would great Smiley
I'd start with Bitcoin Cash before doing Bitcoin Gold, as Cash is worth a lot more than Gold.
I used Electron Cash (in a VM) for Bitcoin Cash. And since I don't really trust the wallet, I imported one private key at a time, then send the funds, and only import the next private key after the first transaction got confirmed.
For Bitcoin Gold, I used Coinomi on Android. And once again: import only as much at a time as you trust the wallet with.

Quote
I don't believe my Electrum wallet has been compromised, thus is it feasible to reseed my Ledger with it's phrase?
I wouldn't do this. It's not about "believing" it's not compromised, it's about knowing for sure. And using a Ledger with a seed that has been on any online device seems like very bad practice to me.

Quote
without losing any said scratch in the process; seeing as on Electrum FAQ page there is a paragraph 'bout GAP addy of 20 & any unfunded addys above 20 GAP will not be reinitialized... with a "WARNING" attached to this, leading me to fret that ulterior addys(well funded) after those GAP ones, may not be updated either... :? ... wow what a puzzle to explain, does anyone sorta "get" what I'm saying here? LauLz
It's very unlikely to have a 20 addy GAP, unless you sent countless addresses to people who never funded them. I barely ever have a gap between my addresses, and if I do, it's at most one or two addresses.
But, if needed, there are other methods to get your private keys out of your seeds.

Quote
In case of the Ledger nano S, I have to empty it of everything prior to seeding the thing(would rather not) this in hope that the transaction would be dropped?
I would *never* wipe a hardware wallet before all my funds are safe for sure.

One possibility: if you export the private key for (for example) 18WGdns7CYB98Ctnp32GfGkdQ3oA18LVKG (balance 0.010272 BTC), import it into Electrum, and make a new transaction with 0.002BTC fee, that transaction should confirm soon. That means one of the inputs from your initial big transaction gets double spend, and your initial transaction becomes invalid. Once again: do not wipe your Ledger yet, you'll need it again Tongue

I've been curious for a while to see if ViaBTC also works on big transactions (28kB), so I'll give it a shot in 8 minutes. Update: it failed: clicking 19:00:01 already showed "Submissions are beyond limit. Please try later.".

Tip for the future: consolidate your inputs once in a while, if you just transfer (say) 10 of them to a new address of your own when you're not in a hurry, you can set a low fee and just wait until it confirms.

Bonus: you're probably also holding about 23 BTX (Bitcore), currently worth just over $300 (in total, not per coin). It's not a fork, it got airdropped on Bitcoin addresses.
This would be the last one I import into Coinomi.

I have built a BYTEBALL VIDEO FAUCET and I am giving away until END OF 2017 for FREE 5,000,000 bytes for every new Byteball user:

Nice offer! You're the guy that Tony showed earlier, I was waiting for a translation to English indeed.
One comment though: You say something like "5 medium bytes", it's hard to hear, but it should be 5 megabytes, or 5 million bytes. Automated subtitles say "5 billion bytes 5 minute bible bytes", so it's definitely hard to hear. This may confuse new users.

This is also a perfect tool to support the growth of Byteball community (and Byteball PRICE!)
Please help me with that!
I'll gladly help, shared on Facebook already.

Thanx so much for making this community great! Let's make things happen!

What do you think of this initiative?
I think it's a great way to spread Byteball, but I expect it will be abused by many people with more than one account.
