Guess this clearly shows where the public is...
2442  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are 24/hr Trades Really That Good Of An Idea? on: June 21, 2011, 09:35:15 AM
Every single exchange market will have their own rate going

Not really. As soon as you see price differences between the markets you can make money with arbitrage: Buy cheap on one market, sell expensive on the other markets. So the people who do this balance the prices between the individual markets.

So even if your market closes during the night: If there are crashes on other major markets during this time people on your market will sell (or buy) as soon as your market opens again.
You're seeing price differences NOW. What are you talking about?

He is prob going to take this to court, and if he does the media will be all over it Sad More bad press.
2445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: When MtGox opens... on: June 21, 2011, 09:30:34 AM
You need an option for people who don't have any money at MTGOX, that way we can see the poll results without screwing the numbers.
2446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are 24/hr Trades Really That Good Of An Idea? on: June 21, 2011, 09:28:13 AM
REAL investors don't like going to sleep knowing that their multi-million dollar investments can potentially be turned into cow manure while they sleep, (What happened at MTGOX). How about you grow up...

And again: Which solution do you propose? Bitcoin is a _global_ community. There is no day and no night. In addition, Bitcoin is decentralized - everyone can open an exchange and you can't prevent this.

These are like to rules of physics: Even if you wanted to - you can't change them. Better learn to live with them.
It depends on the currency exchanger. People will cling on to the time that fit's them the best. But really like I said YOU personally don't have to subscribe to the idea. Every single exchange market will have their own rate going, and I promise you if we tested this out, the scheduled exchange (no matter which time zone it's in) will be a hell of alot more stable.
2447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are 24/hr Trades Really That Good Of An Idea? on: June 21, 2011, 09:12:02 AM
The parent poster obviously has no idea what a market is, otherwise they wouldn't be so in favor of restricting the trading hours. How about you take a nap, and let the adults do the trading...

Might be fine if your hustling pocket change, but it's not for serious people.

And yes in the future once the currency stabilizes this won't be needed, but till then how can we expect to bring big dogs into the game when they have absolutely no control over the market that they are gambling in? At-least scheduling allows a foreseeable window for everyone to literally "get their game on". Right now to be a serious bitcoin investor, one must be up 24/7 looking at charts... How can you expect older people (people who honestly have the money) getting into this, if they see the biggest swings during the times they're asleep?
2448  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are 24/hr Trades Really That Good Of An Idea? on: June 21, 2011, 08:29:33 AM
It doesn't let people go to sleep, which is why the currency is so unstable in my opinion.

When people can't go home for dinner, they stay till late Smiley.

I'm all for it! Let's close all trading platform when it's night here in Europe. So you guys in the US better sleep during the day so that you can trade in the night.
Europeans trade in the NASDAQ even though it's only open during USA work hours. The point is irrelevant.
2449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are 24/hr Trades Really That Good Of An Idea? on: June 21, 2011, 08:27:53 AM
Which timezone's daylight hours do you think trading should be tied to?
It can be tied to whichever individual exchanger is running it. I'm am not saying that this should be a rule or law, but it should definately be a choice for investors. If I had the money I would start a scheduled trade site right now.. I know that there are many people who would be attracted to the idea of a "break" from trading. I am on EST zone so therefore my exchange site would be open from 8AM-8PM. Like I said wish I had the cash to backup the trades, I would start building right now.

This is a community of primarily coders, and coders are notorious for not giving a shit about design lol.. But you shouldn't be throwing stones in a glass house "chick" , you can't even spell serious right on your "portfolio" - "We make serioius stuff"... just saying...

I really gotta stop coming here. This sounds like a community full of haters. Who gives a shit how much he spent on his investment? Why is he an idiot? Is it cause hes about to smoke half of your rigs? Really can't we just say "nice" and move along, instead of over analyzing his 10k investment (which is joke money to people who have it) and saying how stupid he is?
2454  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In light of recent hacking, should security of MyBitcoin website be increased? on: June 14, 2011, 12:33:31 PM
Honestly you need regular bank level security-verification pictures, mouse-click entry of a second password (to prevent keylogging), and verification of new computer IP addresses accessing an account.  Regular banks don't let random new IP addresses move tons of your money around without verifying the new computer first.

Some sort of SMS based system for verifying new IPs and confirming trades would make hacking your account way harder.
Agree,
The way bitcoins are treated right now, seems way to loose for me. I think we never saw security before because they weren't worth as much. Now people are sitting with 10-20thousand in their hands, and don't know how to properly secure it. A user friendly solution needs to be thought up pronto. You made some very good points, picture verifications, and second passwords for diff ip's are all good starts.

If someone dosen't come up with a system that's as secure as paypal, I will...

mtgox should do a respected third party security audit like big corporate websites do, so should mybitcoin and any currency/payment exchangers. You guys better move fast, if not someone is going to come in and make an all in one solution that is going to be fast/safe/and vetted Wink.
2457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin survived its first bubble? on: June 12, 2011, 04:45:26 PM
Bitcoins can go and down, but their value as a finite currency will always stay the same in my eyes.
2458  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New Bitcoin Forum - Moderated, Clean ,Web 2.0 Compatible on: June 12, 2011, 04:41:57 PM
I didn't mock it.  I said I didn't give a f*ck about it.  Huge difference.

Good luck with your new thing.  Hope it works out.  Also sorta hope you come off as less of a tool to any new people that discover you/us through it.
I wish you would go back and look at who started it. People should not attack things they know nothing about. I am generally a very, very nice person, but when I see people attacking my year’s worth of work, I'm sorry it hurts bro, especially when I am doing it in good faith for the community(and of course I hope to make some to, I’m not here to lie about profit motives, that’s what we’re ALL HERE FOR). I admit it may have looked REALLY bad at first, that’s probably why everyone had, a natural reaction to call it spam. I apologize for setting off the storm, but I just think it was important for everyone to know what exactly I was offering to the community. I take my role here very seriously and would never want to be classified as a spammer/scammer. I work to damn hard every day with little or no help, just to have to hear from random people that my shit is worthless. I know that 99 percent of people out there put up crap forums in 5 minutes and call it a site. People who have no PC knowledge what so ever, but I promise you sir, that this is not the case with tweetforum. Once again I apologize if you think I am a “tool” because of the way I reacted, but me being a tool couldn’t be father from the truth, because I try to be as benevolent as possible in RL.

Thank you for your wishes bro.

Not when their boxed into a tight community of people.

"Not when they're boxed into a tight community of people."

It's not hard, just re-read your post before hitting "Post" and see if you can replace "they are" with "their", then do it, please.  If you really are in marketing, you should at least be versed in the English language.
Rob who the hell are you bro? I don't have to prove myself to you. Get off my thread you troll.
2460  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New Bitcoin Forum - Moderated, Clean ,Web 2.0 Compatible on: June 12, 2011, 04:10:39 PM
Not when their boxed into a tight community of people. Sure in essence it's web 2.0, but its still confined to its own system. What I did is I plugged everything in. Now there is still alot of work to do, but I think I have something really unique, that of course all of you are going to hate on me for, for simply not thinking about it yourselves ;p lol. It's the facebook effect: hate on everything you could have done but didn't think of yourself!

This strikes me as being at odds with the goal of having a higher quality of posts.

By the way, no one here hates you because you have some magic brilliance that let you think of it first.  We aren't jealous.  We just find you very annoying.  Also, I sorta suspect that a decent minority of us don't give a f*ck about facebook, myspace or twitter.
Then alot of people in here are dinosaurs if they dont give a "f*ck" about a new social medium that is changing the world as we know it. Tunisia, Egypt, and now Libya have all been possible because of the social media technology that you so gleefully mock. It may seem like a joke to you, but it is changing lives right now as we speak. TweetForum is only getting better, bitcoins are only getting better, and so is all the social media carrying these things. I first heard about bitcoin through "f*cking" twitter, as I am sure many people here did. Kinda funny that you mock something that is now assisting you to make money. Twitter= Exposure , Exposure of Bitcoin= Money in your pocket. Ironically enough it's all sad but true that I work for you..
