The daily income of new altcoins is spreading like a disease, slowly taking off market cap of bitcoin and litecoin day by day.

Only the innovative and new idea coins are worth looking into, really.

I agree! I'm starting a foundation to help strengthen a small selection of coins and work as a community to strengthen the image of altcoins in general. Might be worth looking into:

It was only proposed by one person, so I will add that it's unlikely (otherwise I have to reset the whole vote)

Still alive?
Difficulty back to 400 after a dip to 200 due to the block reward halvening on sunday.

@Jonesd: Qubitcoin is neither dead nor does it need to be revived.  Tongue

We only added it because members of your community were of that opinion. You could as a community also combine your effort with the foundation to create support for several coins at the same time. Smiley

REVOLUTION TIME!

I got a message from willowtalk that this coin was neglected, but deserves some attention.

I was getting pretty irritated by all these great coins that lost the support of the developer, so I'm trying to start an independent foundation, the Coin Revival Foundation (CFA), that revives these coins and keeps advancing them.

My aim is to give altcoins back to the community and away from speculative whales! Smiley

Come to the topic to discuss this if you like and explain why QubitCoin would be a good coin to take into consideration.

Come and join! Smiley

Pretty cool initiative, wish the foundation the best of success.

Although there's one thing I'll like to point out - reviving PANDA would be an inefficient usage of resources and time for the foundation, since you would be competing against another Pandacoin, practically identical besides that they currently have an active dev team with ongoing developments (implementing either POS or merged mining with doge this week), 0% premine and does not have the negative historical association of 'Wolong' attached to it.

Also Wolong still has 1.2 billion pandas ready to dump the f**k out of it rendering all efforts useless ->

That was a historical clusterf... Indeed. Thanks for the info!

I edited my prior post with more information that I had left out. But no problem and best wishes to the foundation's efforts. I voted for quarkbar!

Interesting stuff and thanks for voting!

Crypto rush better give me my 3.7 btc which they currently hold or stole from me. Im watching them closely and if I don't get it back in the near future I will use my and other people's skills to get crypto rush shut down for ever!

Can't say I think stating something like that is wise from a legal point of view.

As far as I know some new people are trying to revive it and it will take a while for them to pay the funds back to people

Obfuscode has helped to create new source for Quarkbar  and implemented DGW V2 and I released a new topic for it.

This was just a short term fix and does not mean it is elected as a focus coin yet.

★ Community Takeover ★

Hello everybody,

the Dev is not coming back, so with the help of obfuscode, we have created a new github account and bitcointalk topic to hand over the coin to the community. We will implement DGW V2 from block 250,000, so there is plenty of time to update the wallets and pools.

Tell us what you think of this in the new topic

This is one of the first take overs of the Coin revival Foundation. Vote in their topic to elect Quarkbar as one of the main focus coins for them!

This is an old thread! The new one can be found here

NEXT STEP

It is time for the next step indeed!

People have voted and clearly, everybody want to focus on reviving old coins!

Quote
Reviving old coins   - 25 (54.3%)
Create a new innovative coin with the community   - 4 (8.7%)
Both   - 11 (23.9%)
More important things than this! Smiley   - 6 (13%)
Total Voters: 46

I will create a  new poll so we can pick a coin. I propose that we take the top three from these coins and support them in the following order:

#1: Focus coin: We will take over this coin, enhance the code, release new wallets and actively promote it
#2: Runner up: We will take over this coin and patch it up.
#3: Aid: We will help to fix problems with this coin.

I will create a new poll, so everybody can vote for the coin they want. Spread the word about this vote to get people to support your coin and feel free to discuss your coin in this topic!

The voting will end May 5, 6PM EST.

VOTE!!!
2452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Wallets Stolen By Hackers][We're Sorry][Contact Anon136 For Escrow] on: April 27, 2014, 03:29:03 PM
So why did some people not use escrow? What was the reason for it?

Escrow fees.

How much it was btw?  1% right?
5$ to keep 500$ safe is not bad at all and I'm not sure why investors were paying escrow fees, they should have demanded escrow service from dev on his own expense.

In H2O Coin's IPO Dev paid escrow fees.

i think ppl just be lazy and not familiar with escrow.

I will have to agree. Anon and escrow.ms you might be turning some people away with your requiring private keys. Some people are noobs and don't understand how things work. It's also a moot point, because we are not talking about shitloads of money per person here. So the chances of someone hacking their bitcointalk account just for that .1 to 2 BTC is rather low.

Requiring a PM with the tx id and a receiving wallet address should be more than enough security.
You could also let people opt-in to withdrawal only by private key proof. That way those who are investing more can choose a hightened security (and pay a higher fee).

You might consider adjusting your terms.

The next potential scam we have is Alter Ego Coin.... who is fond of saying "if you want escrow, then you go ahead"  and other such red herrings when asked proper questions. I've been "trolling" their thread for a few days now Tongue

Nice one. I'll warn some people as well Smiley

It was a scam as well. Well spotted!

are you behind a firewall or something ??

Did you delete the old chain in appdata\roaming\blade folder and try a reinstall? (don't delete wallet.dat and blade.conf)

We already have some technical people, but we actually need more marketing and comms people (I am communications guy myself). Shall I add you to the potential members of that part of the team?

Oh, ok, sounds good! Sure, add me onto the list. Let me know what you are looking for, the game plan for whatever the task decided, time commitment etc. and I will do my best to be of help. Of course, you can PM me when the time comes or if you have any questions. You're a good recruiter -- you should work for the Marines or something -- I hardly knew what hit me!

Good Luck on the project!

Haha! Smiley Interesting career path I will keep in the back of my mind. Cheesy

I will add you to the general team, so we can find out later what you can help specifically with. Smiley

I will help where I can and when I can on marketing and promotions. Send me some details about what you need and I will see what I can do.

Nice Smiley

I will add you to the mark & comms team. Smiley

Hey

So as Jonesd said on the last page I went through and fixed up the DuckDuckCoin source code. The windows QT is compiled and my source is currently upto date and fixed. Meaning it should compile on Windows, Linux and Mac OSX. I've requested a merge with the official repo  but I'm not sure how active the DuckDuckCoin dev team actually are. It maybe worth considering staging a takeover (friendly of course!) and officially launching DuckDuckCoin as our first project until such time as the official dev's want to takeover.

We (the logicoin team) are way too dedicated to our own project to be lead dev's on another but if someone else is willing to step upto the plate we are more than happy to offer what services we can. Obviously it's best to wait a few more days to see if the original dev team is willing to run with the tools the Coin Rivival Foundation has given them.

My updated and fixed souce code can be found at http://github.com/logicoin/duckduckcoin
If you have any questions about the changes I've made to the source code please feel free to PM me or email admin@logicoin.info and we will reply to you as soon as possible.

Regards,
Logicoin

That was great (fixing another team's wallet!), but I don't understand completely. When Jonesd said "we" he seemed to be including you -- or at least heavily implying it. Plus, I am confused about your statement the you are too busy but, "if someone else is willing to step up to the plate" you would be happy to help out.

Isn't that the whole purpose of this thread, The Coin Revival Foundation? As I mentioned in my post on page 5, I think that the DuckDuck team wants someone to take over as they said just that in a post. I am probably just misunderstanding your post, because at first you seem to be suggesting DuckDuck as a good project for this group. Anyway, I guess that all I am asking is for some further clarification of your thoughts for stupid people like me!

As I have stated before, I think that good disaster story coin is the best way to start the ball rolling for the Coin Revival group. And DuckDuck would certainly qualify in that department! (Although I am sure that there plenty of others too). Thanks.

This fix of the DuckDuckcoin was something that clearly had to happen. The same counts for a couple of other coins. It's more like patching up the coin, because otherwise it dies before we can save it. Smiley

The foundation should do more than this. It would be great if we could overtake, fix, promote and find uses for coins. Smiley

Note how he didn't even say which wallet infected his system with the supposed rootkit. Even if he was telling the truth, which I highly doubt at this point in time, he is still undeniably reprehensible for not sharing information regarding a malware-infected wallet with the general public.

I Agree, my opinion is, the community you create is your own responsability, if it fail, you fail, so, the thief in question in this case is the cryptokk owner.

People can choose to work to repair things, can choose to learn from mistakes... this isn't the case, and if cryptokk don't come online again, the only responsability for the loses is the owner and no one else.

Well said

I loved that site, I loved watching all the little coin pictures moving around. I also really liked the Cryptokk Coin design, it was so cute looking.

Although I think the guy should give back the coins.

Well dafuqcoin has just been exposed as a trojan with that same rootkit so I'm assuming he added that one and didn't have proper firewalls in place to lock down the servers.

Terrible response from the admin...

In his defence, it would be pretty hard to have an effective firewall policy when you have 100-200 coins all needing their own different ports to be open. Also the software could have used the same p2p to connect or even through another coin.

What is the altcoin community doing about this dafuqcoin? It is pretty pathetic the altcoin community was so excited about it that just after announce it becomes one of the busiest threads with people saying how cool it is and trying to get it on exchanges.

I understand his position, but he took on the responsibility to manage so many coins, so when he fails he should at least try to refund as much as possible...

I've been wondering why the nethash has been fluctuating by 80MH/s lol

Anyone know if this is Factory related?

If it looks like a factory, smells like a factory and sounds like a factory... it's probably a factory Smiley

I don't have anywhere near that much hashing power and I don't have Nutcoin set as my primary coin, but I have Nutcoin on bitember.com set as my failover on my kalroth miner, which means that if my primary pool goes down for any reason, my rig automatically switches to Nutcoin on bitember.com and begins to mine there rather than running but not mining anything and it could be that a miner with a ton of hash power has done the same or pointed his system to mine directly into a wallet for a short period and with that kind of hashing power a person could mine a huge amount of Nutcoins in a very short amount of time given the low difficulty of the coin, granted, he alone could make the difficulty go up, but he could still do some bargain mining compared to a lot of other coins. Other than the fact that it causes the difficulty to go up, I see all mining as good, because what this coin is in need of at the moment is to be spread around to more people and I recommend we continue to try to find ways to get Nutcoin into more hands.

Don't forget also, with this coin being a straight scrypt coin and these new ASIC miners coming into the market, if Nutcoin draws the attention of some of those miners, they can throw some huge hashing power at a coin.

***Note*** Just in case you might be new, I quit primarily mining Nutcoin when I hit 50 million Nutcoins, it's not because I don't believe in the coin, it's because if it ever does take off and go, I will be stupid rich and because I do have bills to pay which means that I need to help pay my electrical costs by mining coins that I can make some money mining. That being said, my primary pool was down for about 24 hrs. to do an audit, which means I went to my failover pool and mined Nutcoin and added another 1.5 million and I now have some more Nutcoins that I'm going to be looking for ways to give away to the uninitiated... if you're reading this, you already know about Nutcoin and are not eligible.

Keep mining now guys, if dmx sticks to his schedule, the block rewards are due to be halved in the first week of June... that's only a little over a month away, get these easy Nutcoins while you've got them, especially you guys with running these lower powered rigs, now is the time.  Wink
