Actually, I might cause the bug(pass-through).
I am helping XC Grin

i wish XC people where doing the same on DRK. I know you are helping them, i m watching the other thread.  Cool

Yah, there is a reason why none of the CN coin teams even bother attacking XC. It is a not a threat for them because they can annihilate XC in no time because of XC's history of complete and utter bullshit being forced down everyone's throats. They want to bring down DRK first. Some of the comments in the XC thread is downright laughable ("this will change history of cryptos" etc).
the market and beyond.

Gibberish, no?

No.

Obtuse sucker is ignored.

Could enough master nodes be used to run Tor, and earn extra revenue?  Grin

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7r4osQgWVqKTHdxTlowUVpsVmJRcjF3Y3dtcTVscFhEaW5F/preview

How come no one from fbi.gov or nsa.gov ?

At least half of Tor is already run by the men in black. The powers that be don't give a shit about drugs and guns unless someone starts to offer them serious competition in the dealing and running of, respectively. Silk Road guy got busted because he was just too sloppy to ignore.

The PTB have their beady eyes on Darksend, I can guarantee you that - and any attempt by politicians to ban anonymous digital financial transactions will end quickly and unpleasantly for said politicians. Wink

BTC is of limited use to the powerful, DRK is a different story altogether.

if the entire project is not open source no one who understands security will ever take it seriously

We are all perfectly aware of that. It will be open sourced when it's finished.

Open sourcing it now doesn't even benefit the clueless shitcoin jokedevs, much less the idiots who keep dropping money on their fairytale crap with vague promises that one day the shitcoin dev will figure out how to use github or something.

For all you believing in the 'double top there is only a way down scenario'. This stock picture of apple says it all!

Are you actually trying to compare an altcoin to a behemoth like Apple that actually makes products that work and are used by millions of people everyday?  Darkcoin is just another cryptocurrency that could fade away tomorrow and the world would never know or care.

I was a big supporter of Darkcoin until it turned into a cult like following.  People need to keep their expectations realistic.  Darkcoin peaked and is unlikely to hit the level it was at anytime soon.  Also, to those that keep talking "hold for long term", how long are you going to hold?  And regarding the common saying used in this thread "shaking out the weak hands", the weak hands have been getting shaken out for months.  What is weak about selling for a profit and using that btc to make more profit on other coins.  It's not weak it's smart.

There is a lot of competition these days.  Darkcoins value has always been based off of it anonymity feature and that has not been delivered.  You can only push things back for so long before people start doubting everything and move on.  On top of that there are new coins using the cryptonote protocol that offers anonymity without the need for a complicated masternode network.  Once the GUI is out for those coins and they have addressed bloating on the blockchain, all of the major arguments against cryptonote coins will be gone.

I dumped all the DRK I had above .002 and plan on buying back at the bottom which isn't even close yet.  But I guess I'm those weak hands getting shaken out.  I would rather be weak and rich in BTC than a bagholder.

You're right, comparing Apple and DRK is daft - DRK is a real product that's useful to the majority of Planet Earth, Apple is just overpriced niche hardware. Several orders of magnitude difference in customer base.

And competition? LOL. Making vague promises does not count. The Darkcoin team is doing actual WORK. Darksend is functional, and it will continue to get better, we're just perfecting the masternode payment code right now.

+1

Wow, some of you Darkcoin cheerleaders resemble brainwashed cult members.  DRK is a real product and Apple is just hardware?  Apple is used by millions of people.  DRK is just another altcoin with a lot of unfulfilled promises.  Those promises may or may not materialize but Apple is here and proven today.  The fact that someone would make a comparison to Apple with Darkcoin being praised while Apple dismissed is just ridiculous.

In case you don't get it.

Darkcoin market cap  $ 42,191,903

Apple market cap $564.980.000.000

Compare Darkcoin to as many other cryptocurrencies as you want.  When you compare Darkcoin to Apple and imply that Darkcoin is more useful you just sound ignorant.

Apple is only IP. DRK is a network effect.

IP is a fake, statist idea, nothing more.

You guys are delusional.  Darkcoin will never surpass bitcoin and it has a market cap of $ 8,358,258,977.  Apple is 13390 time larger than Bitcoin.  Yet you people act like Darkcoin is bigger than everything.  Bizarre.

I will say one thing.  This is an interesting study in human behavior.

Apple fans accusing other people of being delusional and brainwashed - anyone spot the irony? Wink

Seriously I have yet to use any Apple product that did not almost instantly infuriate me with its complete inability do do anything actually useful, or do it the way I wanted to.

I hope this post makes someone choke on their iTrinket.  Kiss

One thing they are right about though - Apple has a ridiculous maket cap and deep pockets, but I don't think any one corporation will be bigger than ecash (whatever ends up being the de-facto ecash, be it DRK or something evolved from DRK) for very much longer. Both BTC and DRK are still at a very early stage, nobody has missed either train yet.

Now I'm really confused. Tongue

Edit: adding to quoted parts

Extra edit: I'd be happy to be your personal troll. You may pay me in DRK. Cheesy

No, I said healthy shit, not healthy coins!

I dont know if you're a troll or not, we've been having so many and I just got back from a long weekend. But my answer was straight forward giving actual and factual state of affairs, and you're not sure if I'm being serious or not.

That is not 100% troll proof, but it is 100% proof you're not up to speed on DRK, suggesting trollness.

Jesus, get a room.  Roll Eyes

Also in the mean time that DRK has it's downtrend for the next 3 weeks due to delays etc, it's daily volume has been utterly eclipsed by VeriCoins 3000+ daily volume BTC on MintPal, if the VRC volume continues for the coming weeks, DRK could have a serious problem attracting that money back into DRK once it's mostly in VRC which is early in its growth phase, traders and train missers simply go where the highest perceived growth and volume  etc. is.

Until Vericoin's volume reaches its limit and begins to die down, and the swarm of moths fly to the next brightest flame.

+1

also time to start thinking of attracting future users. Volume will come to drk whenever there is drama but once all the major releases are out we need to be extending out into the "real" world and you making it work like ecash.

The dark web may help enormously with adoption for actual use. But I think by the time we're fully up and running, and open sourced, we won't have to work too hard to convince 'normal' people of the benefits of ecash.

Has anyone ever hosted on a provider out of Iceland?

I'm trying to find a decent one and j/w if anyone has had any dealings with a company there.

This is a good signal the product is not rushed by the dev team just to satisfy the short term. They think about the long term.
Only good thing is that a volunteer found a bug today that the lead developer totally overlooked.

Makes you wonder if maybe there aren't others that the dev didn't see..

Not blaming him at all, just wondering if that isn't dangerous

There was no showstopping bug.

One of the testers is a professional QA guy, Evan agreed that another week of testing would be better for all in the long run.

So you run one of the biggest exchanges in the world and you want to add some new trading pairs for your biggest upgrade since you started the exchange.

What coins do you add? That's right, you look at the data, find the ones that will make you the most money, have the most support, have the most credible developers, or a mixture of all of these

https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/213

Is DRK/USD a recent addition to Cryptsy?

The have only just finished the code to do USD, so yes.

Hopefully it won't be too long before we have a Euro and Yuan to DRK option. No more caring about BTC.

I know we're always talking about price on this thread, and how well and difficult it is to mine drk, and what we can earn with masternodes, etc...  And when I think of everyone buying drk, and holding it to store the value of their fiat, I get a feeling like the most important feature of crypto currency is being forgotten.  Basically the reason for it's existence, is it's usefulness.  Its usefulness in trade and in transfers between people of different countries, speed, etc...

So in the end, that is what we need DRK for.  The rest is just the infrastructure of the coin to make it useful to people.  Normal people who want privacy or who need privacy.

Anyway, point being.... well, my train of thought actually trying to reconcile what the real price of DRK should be.  Soon we will have privacy up to 1000 coins at a time, big huge plus.  Tons of coins are held to be masternodes and for investment purposes, another huge plus.  But exchanging for cash is a little difficult at least here in the USA, When a trusted company like Coinbase allows us to buy and sell dark directly, it'll be a huge plus for me because I'm a little wary of the newer exchanges who are opening up drk/$ trades.  so still a little negative.

Now thinking about the only competition we have, Bitcoin, and it's value.... gotta remember it's ahead of us in popularity and has been around the longest.... And remembering that DRK is still very new on the scene.  We won't be that "new" much longer, as time goes by fast in the crypto world.  Considering all this, I know that DRK should be worth a hell of a lot more than what it's going for now.  So what's with the price now?  I sure don't know, but if I had some money, I'd be buying the stuff up like no tomorrow!  Wish I could!  LOL

Don't worry TanteStefana, I'm buying them for you. My long term plan is to hunt down that miserable sod Camosoul in his cabin in the woods, and tickle him until he begs for mercy, and present him with a gold plated AK47. You're welcome to come along, it'll be caviar and champers all the way. Wink

edit: remind me to remove the firing pin on the Liberace AK, just in case...

There are many parts in the equation

No. There are only 2 parts  Smiley

I think if you check any economics textbook you won't find any more.

TL;DR, and a cherry on top.

THAT there was the only thing that I read, and need no more. You have absolutely no clue what is going on in the world.

What do you call someone who struggles with basic math, completely misunderstands statistics, and has a generally tenuous grasp of reality?
- An economics professor.

How many authors of economics textbooks are stinking rich? Wink

Coin-numbers adjusted (same number of DRKs / LTCs = 4.3mn) litecoin stands at 74.28$.

Are you sure?

Coin supply is only one half of the price equation. The other half is coin demand.

There are many parts in the equation

- Coin supply (~7 times less for DRK)

- Coin demand

- Coin utilization (anonymous market / private market - LTC can't cover that and by extension competes with Bitcoin - while DRK takes a new market all by itself)

- Store of value: +28.800 coins per day vs +2880 coins per day for DRK - positioning DRK in a much more sustainable trajectory

- Price potential: Due to the inflation barrier a coin cannot go any further in the market than the rate at which new coins can be absorbed. LTC can't go, say, double price to 0.034 and sustain itself there. It would require 636.000 USD per day to maintain its price, vs 63.600 USD per day for DRK at 0.034.

- Future prospects in terms of coin characteristics: An evolving coin has better prospects than a static one.

- Other features: DRK's ability to self-mine itself through nodes giving a 30-40-50% ROI, while LTC requires external investment to buy ASIC equipment and power

Yeah, I can't see 74$ for Litecoin / 11$ for DRK, sorry Tongue

+1

Darkcoin is barely halfway through beta, big money will step in after full release/open source. Current downward drift is just ADD traders, and the chance for people like me to grab more.

Cold storage is working fine on testnet by the way... Wink
