2461  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: {BFL} Bitcoin miners sue Butterfly Labs on: February 10, 2014, 07:12:58 PM
That's not relevant unless he was explicitly expected to post things to this thread by BFL.

Whether BFL specifically said "post pro-BFL" or not, he was paid off. He was given a new, fully functional miner at no cost. So when he tries to imply impartiality by claiming "I wasn't paid to post", it's deceitful.

*I* was sent "free hardware" from BFL, yet I post under no impramateur from them.

C

* My free hardware was a single old-style heat sink sent to me so I could see if it cooled better than the AL sinks on Jalapenos.

That sounds like an RMA routine, quite reasonable.

Hmm, let's look at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=48863.msg588169#msg588169

Direct quote: PS.  In the meantime, I would suggest all of you who don't have a pre-existing relationship with the company refrain from making any pre-orders.  We appreciate the interest in our product, but the hostility isn't worth it. Please just wait for off the shelf units to be available.  Thx.

BFL was never forced (by random strangers) to accept pre-orders. They chose to accept pre-orders all on their own.

It's kinda lilke the people who think I am being paid to post on here.  I can honestly say that I enjoy a good income and I'd be willing to bet that BFL would not be willing to offer me a job where I am making more than I am now.
Remind us again, did BFL give you free hardware?
Why ask questions you already know the answer to?

I was giving you the chance to be honest. Not surprised you didn't take it.

bcp19 was given free hardware by BFL. His "I'm not paid to post here" isn't the full truth.
2463  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.99/GH/s, miners from $2.97/GH/s on: February 10, 2014, 05:33:32 PM
The X1 & X3 are going to be fantastic.  And that's just the beginning.

Which miner would you buy?

A) $5/gh delivered next week
B) $3/gh delivered in three months
2464  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: {BFL} Bitcoin miners sue Butterfly Labs on: February 09, 2014, 06:34:11 PM
The sad truth in all of this is that the miners brought this about and then turned around and damned them for doing it.

Oh, right, people here *forced* BFL to accept pre-orders. Please explain, how does an anonymous forum poster force a company to accept pre-order funds?

2465  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales NEW STOCK ***NOW SHIPPING*** on: February 09, 2014, 02:52:41 AM
Just letting everyone know:

Dave is at the Bitcoin Germany convention this week and then he is heading up to meet Punin in real life for the first time.

I hope to have some really really good news in a week or so.

I sure hope so. Just keep in mind that Bitmain is shipping in-stock units at $5/gh.
2466  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: {BFL} Bitcoin miners sue Butterfly Labs on: February 08, 2014, 09:50:28 PM
Using your criteria, neither did any other Bitcoin ASIC manufacturer... so what was your point?

Let's see, I know Bitfury designed his own chip. ASICMiner did too. As did Avalon. I think Bitmain did too. In fact, many ASIC manufacturers designed their own chips.
2467  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: February 08, 2014, 02:07:08 AM
Everyone else should please keep quiet about legal matters that it is clear no one understands.  I AM a lawyer, so let me help out those of you who labor under misconceptions of (consumerist) grandeur.

This do not have any significant importance when your are new forum user. Anyone can create multiple accounts here and claim to be a lawyer. If you want people to trust you are a lawyer, start by presenting yourself and your credentials.

Since there are good lawyers and bad lawyers, the truth of whether he is a lawyer or not isn't important. What is important is his reasoning, and his reasoning on the FTC rules makes a lot of sense.

Fuck off and stop yelling, it's very impolite.

Don't waste your time. Click his ignore button like everyone else has done.
2469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: February 07, 2014, 05:56:58 PM
All correct - still - in case KnC provides 3 TH for CA batch in - lets say mid of April - I still consider it a good deal - virtual or nonvirtual. This is for sure under the assumption they have honest motives, which a lot of people in here doubt (me not btw).

Delivery is scheduled for "Q1/Q2". There's no way they are starting the hosting before end of Q2.
2470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: February 07, 2014, 05:38:21 PM
Bear in mind, the difficulty we're at now is a smidge higher than I thought it would be for February, so my projections are now slightly worse. Q1 delivery is paramount to ROI, first couple weeks Q2 delivery is your last bet for hope. Beyond that, it's a brick.

You do realize by now that Q1 delivery is impossible, don't you?
2471  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL Monarch - Delivery Dates on: February 02, 2014, 03:16:53 AM
Any sign of Monarch's in the wild yet? I haven't been paying attention much to the mining scene of late.
I don't mean photoshopped pics of prototypes from inside BFL, I mean actual unboxing videos and such.

Of course!

However, this is our second generation, so we have much greater clarity on the process and plan to begin shipments in January 2014.

Since it is now February, I'm sure they shipped a ton of them, as promised.
2472  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: February 01, 2014, 08:40:45 PM
It really does depend on how good your PSU is.

15A * 110V = 1,650W

No, no, no. Do not run a circuit at 100% 24/7. You max 80% continous load.

15 amp circuit: 12A @ 120V = 1440W.
20 amp circuit: 16A @ 120V = 1920W.
2473  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: {BFL} Bitcoin miners sue Butterfly Labs on: February 01, 2014, 07:37:17 AM
Appears to be in the same place as your December WASp rollout.

Remind me, how many millions of dollars of pre-order funds has WASP collected?
2474  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Hardware with reasonable ROI? on: February 01, 2014, 07:34:42 AM
@kendog: I mostly agree. After all calculations the Antminer was my top 1 device. But even if I would get a used one for let's say 1500 USD, it doesn't look too good.

Why buy used? New Antminers go for about $1200 (1.45 btc).
2475  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: WARNING BFL Butterfly Labs Potential Non FCC approval on: January 31, 2014, 03:56:56 PM
When is the Jalapeno getting FCC approval?

Maybe two weeks? We are waiting for the test lab to issue the test report.

Don't worry, it'll be available "in two weeks."
2476  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales NEW STOCK ***NOW SHIPPING*** on: January 31, 2014, 03:50:35 PM
My current limit for profitability is ~ US$5.10 per Ghps.

Any more than this and you're unlikely to make a complete ROI in the first 3 months - and if you have to bank on mining more than 3 months to make a complete ROI then you can't make any good (reliable) estimates anyway.

That's a pretty reasonable number. Bitmain comes close. Bitfury is double that. Disappointingly overpriced.
2477  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra Update: Engineering and Production status on: January 31, 2014, 03:46:31 PM
Syke -

you're talking different things here.  one is a professional miner thats 10 times as powerful as the other... and uses half the amount of power per gigahash.  you're comparing a bicycle and a motorbike here.  they're aimed at different markets and have different performance and uses.

Ah, so now the "home" miner is a "professional" miner. More worthless buzzwords.

CT is "professional". Irrelevent to profitability.
CT is liquid cooled. Irrelevent to profitability.
CT has several fans. Irrelevent to profitability.
CT has a pretty aluminum case. Irrelevent to profitability.
CT has some big power supplies. Irrelevent to profitability.
CT might have some certifications. Irrelevent to profitability.

Get the picture? I'm talking the only thing that matters. Profitability. How much does it cost vs. how much it generates. Hard numbers that aren't buzzwords. Bitmain may not be sexy, pretty, cool. But when it comes to profitability, it blows CT away. There's no reasonable way to run the numbers and come to any other conclusion. Anyone placing an order today for CT is *wasting* money. A lot of money.
2478  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra Update: Engineering and Production status on: January 31, 2014, 02:03:38 PM
i completely agree with you, antminer is for people who want to buy something thats obsolete quickly and uses too much power, and takes up a too much space, and will require more hassle and wiring up power supplies, and is dangerous if used in a home environment because its not certified or approved for use.  ant miner is for hobbyists who don't mind having bare boards exposed, and power supply wires dangling.

This is why I love reading this forum. You fanbois are quite humorous. 2100 watts, requires a extension cord from another circuit in another part of the house to be dragged across the floor to power the unit. Home use? LOL! I'll chose "obsolute" hardware that makes a profit over a pretty box that doesn't, any day of the week.

I think our compensation should be "cloud hash" equal to 100% of our ordered hashpower, to begin when our miners were originally scheduled to ship, and ending when the miners actually ship.

That would be acceptable. In fact, MegaBigPower did that when they had a delay on a batch.
2480  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra Update: Engineering and Production status on: January 31, 2014, 02:10:33 AM
I'd still be looking at roughly $1340 Canadian, plus shipping, can't see how much they charge, I'm assuming it isn't free.

Free express shipping, arrives in a few days.
