2461  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is politics everyone's business? on: July 17, 2023, 12:38:45 PM

So I ask, in your own opinion do you think politics should be the concern of every citizen.

Yes politics should be the concern of all because it is how to share the scarce resources of the community or state and so everyone should be a party to it. This is why some other jurisdiction it is referred to as democracy meaning it involves the people. Governance is the business of the people but the challenge is that the few intimidate others and take over "rulership " by corruption starting from the electioneering. This is why this time around there are some much wrong doing in politics and so many malpractice are implore to stop others.
2462  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: July 17, 2023, 11:56:37 AM

Anyway, imo, the first step in recovery is to admit being an addict. Most addicts deny it and refuse to accept the truth that everyone else sees.

Self deniel is the worst addiction that someone can get into. If you refuse to accept you are addicted and keep pretending that your are okay then no one will come to your help because you are just as fine as them. The first way to getting help is to give an open hand to people that you need help. A drunk doesn't like to be called as that and just like gambling addict. Men like their ego to be fanned and protected, so before you know they are on the help stage you just know they are totally out of control of themselves.
2463  Economy / Gambling / Re: Whats happening with Betnomi? on: July 17, 2023, 07:51:50 AM

If indeed Betnomi wants to leave this business and they are not coming back they should come back to this forum to provide an explanation that can make their users calm down a bit, I'm sure their users are waiting for them to come back again and hope that happens. but I also hope that the users will not be disappointed if in the end betnomi will not come back and leave this business.

Coming back to the forum to make things right and settle off agrieved customers will be a good way to leave the business if they want to but I have hardly seen such happen if this is an exit scam. Betnomi has warn the trust of many here and I'm sure not many expected this to happen. It is still fishy that they would disappear without any sign of coming back because this is taking longer for a site maintenance.
2464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: would you play more on casino when your country plans to ban BTC? on: July 16, 2023, 10:12:12 PM
So personally, I would never gamble all my Bitcoins just because my government has banned Bitcoin but I would hold them in a non-custodial wallet and keep them for as long as I can because maybe some day in the future, I get to use them somewhere that might benefit me in some way.

There is no sense in gambling all the funds inside our wallets just because the government are planning to ban bitcoin and the use of other cryptocurrency, if that is what the people are thinking, I don't doubt why they are losing frequently because they have that kind of mindset. We always have a choice even though our own government is banning the existence of bitcoin, we can still go back to the basic and gamble like nothing happened.

I believe those who just gamble all their bitcoin for the fear of government banning it in their country are all ignorant of how to store or save it for the future because if a current government ban it, succeeding government can change the ban and you start enjoying the increased btc value because the price will not be stable from what it is then .
2465  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: FG plans to give 8K to poor households. on: July 16, 2023, 09:38:47 PM
I actually expected more from the government, am sure they won't even pay.

The doubt for the way dem don make this palliative something be don dey high. Of course Nigeria phenomenon go still enter the whole thing because we fit still dey hear say Dem want pay while some don collect as e take happen for COVID-19 palliative. We dey in a precarious situation with the government distrust. I'm sure say this past election don open people eyes say the people wey dey always enter for government no be people wey we elect to enter office. I no see any sense wey dey for the palliative wey dem dey plan say dem want do while people suffer don increase.
2466  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bicycle fit be the game changer on: July 16, 2023, 05:47:51 PM

For my area now bicycle full street like this, atleast the bicycle go help else movements and save costs till when the fuel price go come down. Even me wey dey here sef if I get small money, I dey think of to buy one small bicycle too wey I go dey use till when the fuel price go come down, I can't come and kill myself....

Who dey talk of say when fuel price go drop abi come down. This one no possible again because I remember even from president Goodluck Jonathan time when him first say him remove fuel subsidy and price rich 145 naira and him readjust back to 96 naira or so and from then Buhari enter carry price go 150 naira and since then, we know how the price don fly reach. My broda no think am oo, I never hear say fuel price go come down. Abi you dey talk of deregulation? Hmmm, deregulation dey only bring price down when things dey in place like refinery etc but government refinery is not working so make you zero your mind out of that .
2467  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: FG plans to give 8K to poor households. on: July 16, 2023, 03:22:54 PM
To share money to people no even be the thing because me I know say na scam we go see. No be so the school feeding take dey happen until breeze don blow and we don see the colour of fowl yansh, if you know, you know  Grin

Government no dey do wetin Dem suppose do. Dem always want make loop hole for syphoning our money. Nothing stop government to identify the people wey go get this through BVN. But make them build infrastructure, no be the story of sharing money because na scam.
2468  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do you think MARK suspend peoples Facebook's accounts???? [Cyber crime] on: July 16, 2023, 01:38:05 PM
I won't be surprised if some Facebook account are suspended and more from other social media handles because of crime investigation. Some people have complained of being scammed on such platform and reported some account which have been flagged. Facebook is a centralized social media platform and I believe they will want to clean up the space so that the customers will have confident and rebuild trust with them so I'm not surprised with this.
2469  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: The country no de move forward on: July 16, 2023, 10:37:45 AM

We know that this subsidy remover is own favor but people no understand, that's why some people just de para any how.

People no go gree understand because nobody dey see the benefit of the remover. Abi we never hear say Dem still dey steal crude? Government no dey sincere especially the last administration and this present one that is still contested in court. How can dey hastily remove subsidy without arranging how the man on the street go survive. Na palliative money Dem still dey want go borrow. The thing no good to hear for ear. Na same people fight president Goodluck Jonathan for the same policy even as him provide palliative wey everybody see.
2470  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: The country no de move forward on: July 16, 2023, 09:40:28 AM
Sometimes you go hope say if one government comot and another one enter say you see something new and this na true for other countries but for naija, na the same thing no difference, in fact things go hard more when new government enter. Fuel don become something wey don increase poverty among the people.

This fuel situation self don make people dey covert fuel generators to begin use gas. Omo me I still dey look for one side oo, make I see how that one too dey go as them say e dey cheap. Naija , things never dey positive na only negative. Them never arrange palliative but dem remove subsidy. Dem just dey bobo everywhere and that is why people dey kill to enter politics and government because na there the money dey.
2471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Young people should take more advantage of the crypto space. on: July 15, 2023, 10:32:05 PM

Crypto space is great for every ages, but for young people

Cryptocurrency favours the youth more for different reasons not excluding internet accessibility, ability to understand and use it. The youth are more open to adaptability and moreover they crave for financial independence.

it could be even better if there were more jobs opportunities available here, so they could earn money without necessarily having to invest.

The investment  does not require life services. All that an optimistic youth requires to cut down on his extravagant spending and hodl few Satoshi or other coins that can grow faster like BNB or Ethereum. Moreso, halving is approaching, so a little investment now could become big gains.
2472  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Drainage is not a dump yard on: July 15, 2023, 08:49:33 PM
Blocking drainage be one thing wey dey cause flooding. If rain fall and e no see where to pass enter the next thing na to stay for street. We don already know this but na the sanitation people to take better measures to stop the thing. Market people dey guilty pass for this matter because them dey put their waste directly inside gutter. Me I go suggest say make government try make sanitation wey we been dey do before for every last Saturday of of the month to come back. Some states no dey follow do this sanitation again. At least with that one, some people go still carry the opportunity take clean their environment, e go help.
2473  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Youths Becoming Reluctant to Marry on: July 15, 2023, 06:26:13 PM
This marriage thing no be wetin dem suppose dey remind somebody so long the person dey make effort, things dey happen and God wey create the world say make all man go multiply and dominate the world. Dem say if something time reach that thing go happen. E just be like seasons wey we get, raining season and dry season, Dem dey happen as their time reach. However, marriage dey very important in our lives, e show maturity of mind that you don dey ready to grow another family but some young people dey do the thing as competition.
2474  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The best motivation on: July 15, 2023, 06:02:29 PM
Different things can motivate someone not only yourself or second party like parents or siblings. You can have a motivation after you have come out of a particular challenge, so will this be considered as a personal motivation or third party? I see many things can be a source of motivation but what is important is how we are able to see that as something motivating us. Like they say, the best advise is the one that an individual give to themselves. Therefore, if you had a challenge and after words that challenge became your source of motivation, then take up the challenge and make your life better, that is what is important. We don't have to allow situations that are not pleasant to bring us down but we are to learn from it, get motivated and move on.
2475  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Appropriate percentage of income for gambling on: July 15, 2023, 04:05:30 PM
Perhaps, around 5% too, but I never calculated it in detail. Usually, it's just depositing around $10-$20 into my gambling account, and it's enough to stay there for a week or even up to 3 weeks Grin

I never spend the money I deposit into gambling accounts because I don't have a large fund set up for gambling and only the money I can afford. Perhaps, other people have bigger percentage limits than I do, and I understand because it's an amount they can afford, and everyone who often gambles will use the money they can afford to gamble.

This seem the same here. It all varies on the circumstances of the bet for the previous week. If the loses are consistent then I could reduce and take a break. Of course the winning is not always guaranteed so it is better to take precautions. Sometimes I keep it around 2% , it fluctuates and not steady. If there are financial obligations to meet up to then I could reduce the betting expenses or not bet for the main time until I have the amount to bet without regret.
2476  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This is not Practical on: July 15, 2023, 02:56:07 PM
I have heard the advice that you should only use money you can afford to lose for gambling. I say that this is more theoretical than practical. Literally no one has money that they can afford to lose.

Money that you can afford to lose is simply the money that you may have budgeted for gambling. A gambler knows that gambling involves luck and with high risk tendency for losing. So a gambler understand he could lose that part of the money he is using for gambling therefore if he loses that should not cause him a financial handicap or injury to make him go begging or put him in debt. That is why such phrase is always used in gambling palace.

Hey gamblers my question is to you now is, the money you currently plan to use for gambling is it money that you can afford to lose?

That is the case as it is the proper thing to do. A gambler should make a budget of how much of his income he wants to risk at the time he is playing. That is financial propriety and to avoid regrets, it is a wiser gambling decision.
2477  Economy / Gambling / Re: Where should I play? Asking for recommendations. on: July 15, 2023, 02:17:00 PM

Now when its more important for them to have Drake streaming and "throwing away money" then give back to their customers I am gonna stop play there and start a journey on another website.

What is really the issue you have raised? I think you have not clearly stated what was it that you had with the casinos that you have been playing with but you are seeking for a new one to jump into.

What I have noticed is that some bettors don't do background checks on KYC before signing up and after their winning they want to instantly get the winning without following the process of the rules for withdrawal. So which is the complaining you are making because almost all casinos run on KYC.
2478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How real? That football players required to bribe before they are allowed to play on: July 15, 2023, 10:12:45 AM

Every players have their own unique experiences when it comes to joining the league and maybe this is true since he will not say that and just ruin his reputation. Well this might not be a requirement but maybe a small team can’t pay that much and that’s why they need something in return so they can accept that player.

I don't believe that Cameroon FA is a small team. Cameroon is known in world class FIFA football tournament having been the first of Africa country to o reach the quarter finals in Italia 90. So it is not a small team that the government can't source out funds for the team. It is just the human greed that few people will want to take opportunity on. The FA didn't make a counter claim on what mbappe said and I don't think he said it with heavy heart or to spite nor indict anybody. After all, he only said that regarding the FA and not on any personality.

If other players will make a statement like this, then we can validate that statement and I’m sure its not happening anymore.

These kind of news are being filtered as rumour in local football but the difference with this is that it was made public.
2479  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Signs that indicate you are not addicted to gambling on: July 15, 2023, 09:44:12 AM
I think the biggest sign that you aren’t addicted to gambling is if you can stop and feel no ill effects. For example, we’re all addicted to our phones. Leave the house without yours and you feel naked and incomplete. If going a week without gambling leaves you feeling similar, like you’re missing something you need, then maybe you might be addicted.

The phone addiction you mentioned is right, if you go out without your phone there is a kind of boredom that you will feel because we are so compactible and accustomed with our phone but we can't even help that or can we ?  Grin Maybe for online addicts, phone addiction could be termed as positive addiction. Yes if you miss to gamble for sometime probably because you are busy in another schedule and you don't regret not gambling it means you are walking away from addiction. In fact, for an addict no other schedule come first if not gambling and betting the day's game.

It is still addiction if you can't leave your phone at home, no matter if it is positive or negative, but again, it is best if it is positive as it brings us something about it like a good effect, unlike negative addictions like gambling, where you can't do other things now as you want to gamble as well as lose tons of money. But again, if you can survive not playing gambling for a month even if you are bored, then for sure you are not addicted because mostly when boredom strikes, we gamble like we use our phone if we are bored and keep scrolling on it.

Well I understand the point @xSkylarx, about the phone but in trying to compare the gambling addiction to mere going out with phone or pressing it will not be looked as the same. That of gambling is about playing with your money that means your finance is going off from you but for phone, I don't think you are losing any finance. Moreso for phone, people can be addicted to it because they are perhaps working online with it and that could be the major reason to be addicted with phone which also includes using it to bet online  Grin
