As for "downloading" a cure for cancer, I have prayed for someone with stage 4 Lung cancer and they were healed.  I prayed for another person with stage 3 pancreatic cancer and they say they cannot find cancer in his body now.  I believe that God can and still does miracles in our lives.  They seem to happen more when people pray.  Is that just a coincidence or do coincidences happen more often when God is involved?

Science knows prayer does not work - it has been tested extensively and it's the same as a placebo.

I could make up a similar connection between the Easter bunny and cavities... and there are probably enough ignorant people to believe it and form a system of worship around it, like they did for the bible.  Is it just a coincidence or do coincidences happen more often when the Easter bunny is involved?
Not true.  Tumor cured in 3 minutes through quantum healing:

It is not that God could not just grow a leg or arm from nowhere if He so chose to do that.

Pretty much the definition of an asshole...

I guess it is more that He appears to work with the natural laws of our world

Yes, almost seems that it doesn't exists...
If you haven't figured it out, you are god (this also means, if you're calling god an asshole, you're calling yourself an asshole).  You must believe your leg will be there.  And if you truly believe it, it will be so.

Nobody in this world has the capability to grow limbs by will power (that I know of), nobody believes in them self that much, it doesn't mean it's not possible.

Pedrog, death isn't bad, when you die it's simply your time to leave earth.

Does money make you happy?

No, I don't believe I ever said that.  I have discussed things with squall and I will start paying him shortly.

Let's say that each human is like a computer and that God, the creator of all "software"  could "download" information or an "update" into each of us when we personally asked Him to.  Then we would be able to "know" more things then the person next to us that has not asked for that.

In a way it is like that with spiritual things.  1Corinthians 12:8 "To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit"

So perhaps our claims of "understanding things" is true?

Of course there are people that are prideful and bragging that they know it all and this is not right as seen in this verse:
1 Corinthians 13:2  If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

'll give you a 9 out of 10 for creativity.

Unfortunately, in the real world it's a bit too convenient for those who have had the software downloaded to them.  Or those who "claim" to have, I should say.  Pretty much anyone could make the claim couldn't they and there would be no way to prove them wrong?

Yeah, not so much for creativity, she pretty much described The Matrix...

And why aren't people "downloading" the cure for cancer?

Tell me again how you came into existence from nothing?

Here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_ignorance

Wait a minute, what if I imagine that there is no god in any of the universes, if I can imagine such a thing then it must exist in some sense right.

Lol I don't think a hardfork is going to save us in this situation. But in all seriousness it could mean god is both existent and non-existent at the same time. Quantum superposition.

It's the Schrödinger's god. Cheesy
Because the cure for cancer is in a dank plant.  And it's illegal.

Not to mention what BitChick said, you are the cure for cancer.  I cured a dog of cancer by believing it was healthy.

....
In the end all I can answer for is myself, my faith, and my convictions.

....
You're meant to know, but only if you dare to look; it depends on how you approach these mysteries, and I believe it all begins with a question.  When you begin with an answer, you can only ever change the world around you to conform to your answer....
But that makes everything so nice and easy!  And thinking is so hard!

Just consider.  Put your faith blindly in Jesus Christ.

You can stop thinking!

Life will be good.

Now everyone hold hands in a circle and sing Kumbaya.
I wouldn't even consider this an attack, what he said is true.  When you have faith in god you can stop thinking.  And that is exactly what everybody needs to do.  When we stop thinking and focus on the present reality, we find anything is possible with the power of now.

This is where one finds peace, god and understanding.  Not through their thoughts but in the absence of thoughts can new ideas be grasped.
What?Huh  Look if someone says "you are just shooting yourself in the foot" that doesn't mean you should go and do it.

It means they are explaining the problem.  The problem is not the solution.

But now that I think about it, you two somewhat differing believers can fight it out.
What problem?  Sorry I don't get the context of this.

I agree with what you are saying but most times it would seem that the more I try to just let it go the more I find that I can't. The idea of being able to stop thinking seems like a great idea, but I have a hard time doing that. I cannot be like the bird not worrying when he will eat next because the world is a cold place and I work hard to provide for my family. Stress sucks. Maybe my problem is not with the external but more an internal issue.

It's true, it's very difficult to sustain thoughtlessness on earth.  It can be done for periods of time but we are programmed to think.  It was a lot easier for me before I was forcibly drugged on antipsychotics - shits horrible, I'm still recovering.

Have you ever played in that map with the space ships you can fly around and shoot laserballs out of?  It's on island escape I believe.

Yeah still not like BF.

But there is also a rally racing mod which handles driving pretty well for source.

2497  Other / Off-topic / I was soaring in a balloon on: November 03, 2013, 04:08:01 PM
I took a blue party balloon and pulled it over my feet and stuck my arms through it.  I jumped down a little hill and I would soar to the bottom.  I was able to increase speed by moving my arms or blowing into the balloon.  Once I really got going (we went to my friends house), I was soaring through a forest of tall trees, probably pines.  I had complete control over my trajectory, like a bird.  It was way more fun than flying in a dream, flying in a balloon allows you to react to the air around you in a unique, controllable, way.

I remember saying that I would jump off a building in downtown Raleigh in the balloon.  I didn't do it then but I flew the balloon back to my friends house, where it popped upon hitting the top of the garage.

This is what life can be like.  It sure beats anything the capitalistic world has to offer.

Think beyond our physical universe.  Consciousness has always existed and always will.

This right here is the problem with religious folk.  They have no problems making claims that they understand things they simply don't know and even things they *can't* know.
There's nothing you can't know.  Part of you knows everything.

Can any Christian explain Jesus Christ's teachings on objective ethics working without trust that an indirect authority can define what is and is not objectively ethical?  ....
Furthering this point: is this faith being placed in the lord, or ultimately in the men who wrote of him?
You'll find if you look, that very deep thinkers have argued and discussed this question at length.  I can tell you the short story on my view, which is that religions, including the bible, are the tools tyrants use to get what they want from people.

Lying, as you call it, and myth/myth building are really not the same thing.
Man's fuckupification (for lack of a better word I can't remember) of religion for power does not falsify the spiritual truths found in religious texts.

I feel it is appropriate at times, perhaps it lets information absorb into those that disagree with my word solely based off me saying it, idk, just happens.

Anyways, dank paid off the rest of the loan with a little extra. Smiley
